Many thanks, Pescado.

And I'll take the silence on the second question to mean "No Touchy."   Roll Eyes
I shall leave the SDNA alone, as recommended.

Ok, I apologize for the necromancy, but I wanted to ask a question regarding the "prep for delete"--
I have one sim that won't stay in the queue to be prepped for delete.  Is there any particular reason why this would happen?  I read the entire thread, and if I missed the answer, just point me in the right direction and I'll go dutifully there.

Also, I am trying to clean up a hood that appears to have some duplicate unlinked character files.  I know that it is not safe to delete SDNA when clearing out unwanted characters, like townies, etc:  does it also apply to junk clones?

Once again, I stand corrected.   Embarrassed  My sims don't frequent any sort of community lots as a general rule, so it had been a very loooong time since I'd seen her.  And in the hood where she spawned on the residential lot, I didn't have any community lots created at all, uni, nl, or otherwise.  So, safe to say, I hadn't visited one.

Kyna, Indeed--quite right.  I guess I had forgotten that since I only ever saw her at uni community lots:  I have an abhorrence for the whole downtown scene, so my sims never go there.  At any rate, I didn't think she was supposed to show up out of the blue at a residential lot just knitting away.  And, of course, everything DID blow up just after that.  It was coincidental to the appearance of Humble concurrent with the installation of the nohumble hack.  It might have been that I had a conflicting hack installed (?).  I torched the hood, started over, and so far have been putting up with Humble, just in case I do have something that was conflicting with it.

I once had Crumplebottom spawn on a residential lot in a custom hood with no uni subnh:  this is nonstandard, yes?  Also, the hood in question did go FUBAR shortly thereafter.  I still don't know where she came from; she appeared shortly after Humble, who shouldn't have shown up either, considering I had "nohumble" installed (!).  NPCs do the wierdest things.

Impressive.  I never doubted you would honor us with something enlightening, but this is more than I'd hoped for.   Cheesy  Perhaps you might throw a little JeebusChrist's way--he seems cranky today.  I think we should really let him have the last word:  he seemed slighted at your taking all of the glory for yourself.

A cogent assessment.  You must have won accolades for your far reaching insight, Spockblock.  You are quite a philosopher.  However, it does seem rather irrational to shout.

Your help is More than Awesome, Mootilda.  Thank You.

My liege (since you do invest yourself with all the large effects that troop with majesty), I accept your acrimonious censure.  That said, I wasn't aware that EAxis coded the game to be so essentialist.  My mistake for missing its inherent Platonism.  I was already prepared for high-bending Jove to blast my cause as so much "user error":  thank you not disappointing the lowly.   Smiley

OK, so I have a months old hood that has recently erupted ... I think .... into the dreaded fireball.  The first, last, and only sign of trouble is a sudden failure to load the neighborhood, which has happened now three times in succession, forcing a return to the latest backup.  I've tested the nh for bad cc, removed cache files, etc, but the problem persists.  Install backup, all's well for several days, then poof, no load the nh.  I've decided the nh is corrupt, from the backup, and is not salvageable.  As distressing as that may be, I am willing to let it go, but I would like to prevent future disasters (wouldn't we all??).  I am scrupulously careful about avoiding obviously stupid behaviors like "deleteallcharacters," deleting sims from the sim bin, moving characters between nh's and the like.  I've been simming a while and know the general drill.  The imploded hood has me befuddled because it was coddled and cared for from its clean template start right through to its fiery demise and I can't fathom what caused it to go.  Is there any way to determine the cause?

I love the family fix hack you have here--bummer that it conflicts with Inteen, which I can't, won't live without.  It isn't the first time I've had to choose inteen instead of a shiny new hack I fallen for.  D--- you Inteen for being so freaking amazing!  And so conflicting!!  Anyway, thanks for everything--the hacks look amazing.  I may have to try out the buyable novel and the bookshelf fix.   Cheesy
12  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Glitch? Or something worse? on: 2010 June 27, 20:25:06
I had a couple move to an apartment lot, and when the time came for some visitors to welcome them to the new apartment, Madeline Despret was generated multiple times.  Before I realized this, she had the opportunity to speak to herself  Angry --I returned to neighborhood, without saving.  Then, reloaded lot, waited--she regenerated again.  I tried "clearing" her off lot, but she stubbornly regenerated.  Returned to neighborhood, again without saving.  Went to her lot--she is a playable sim in my neighborhood--spawned RDC--got an object error--killed her.  Then, saved, returned to the original apartment lot, and she did not regenerate.  Was this a glitch?  Or an impending disaster?  I have good backups of this NH, so if it is asplode, I can deal with it.
13  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Empty and Cleaned-up Templates. [UPDATED] on: 2010 June 01, 15:12:10
I am very, very new to creating clean neighborhoods--but I have resolved to try to navigate this process.  I have all EPs installed, and several stuff packs.  My question is do I need to dl all of the empty templates for each and every ep I have installed?  What if I am using a custom hood?  Then, which ones do I need to install?  I've read through most of the thread, but I don't see where this question is asked/answered explicitly.
