26  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: The TS3 Store: post your questions, updates, and tech help here on: 2013 June 30, 04:15:45
I only have 13 dbcs and my game decides when it wants to work or not. On a fresh startup of my pc I try to run the game and it works. I quit the game and try running it again, I get the forever black loading screen. I remove my dbccache folder, try running the game and it works. Quit the game, replace my dbccache folder, try running the game and it works. Quit the game, try running it again and I get the forever black loading screen. I'm gonna try a few more things but I might be switching over to packages for store stuff.

Yah I am about ready to do the same here, just not looking forward to having to redownload and find them all. Either that I'll just get the ones that are missing as packages..

Is anyone having problems starting their game after installing everything from the store?

After installing Island P. I started a fresh game and installed  all the store crap released till now, I always install little by little since if I try all at the same time they don't install but as I was getting to the last ones I notice the launch was taking longer to load.

By the time I was finish the launch takes 2 to 3 minutes just to appear and starting the game directly will take quite a few times since I mostly get "does not respond" I also notice that the first time after just staring my PC the game will start fine but if I quit the game and try to start it again it will take many tries. Once I tried like 6 or 7 times before giving up and restarting my PC.

I decided to delete the folder and try just installing just a few thing and the game worked perfectly without a problem and started instantly, both the game and the launch.

So, anyone else having problems or just me?

I am having the exact same problem, but I am also encountering an issue where I can't actually install the items from the store too, it just hangs there and does nothing. I found if I deleted the dcdbt.dbc file I could install the rest, but then I can't run the game at all, just hangs with no responding. I had to delete 4 cache files to try and fix it, sort of worked, but that means I lost half my installs.

Try deleting your cache files

Kind of defeats the purpose of what we're trying to achieve here, which is running the game WITH our downloads actually there, deleting the cache files just removes all of our downloads, which means it was useless.
If you meant the .cache files - it doesn't make a difference.

IMPORTANT DISCOVERY!

So I just discovered something very interesting, I deleted the extra cache files above dcdb15 and the game loaded perfectly fine. So I put in dcdb16 and the game refused to load, I tried 17 -19 too, same thing, one extra file above 15 and the game refuses to load at all. So I removed dcdb15 and put in dcdb16 and the game loaded fine, I tried it with 17, 18 and 19 too and the game ran fine, but as soon as more than 15 cache files were placed in the folder, the game refused to load.
28  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Items refuse to install on: 2013 June 29, 07:11:19
Are you patched to 1.55 now? Sounds like you've got the same problem as me, with the black loading screens. What I have to do is first make sure the launcher isn't running via the task manager then load the launcher. Once that's up and running start the game. It does take a while for everything to load up but it does start up eventually.

I was yes, removing my TS3 folder from the My Documents fixed the loading issue, but then I put things back bit by bit and it worked fine, except the whole "you are missing an expansion" error. So I decided to try and use the original TS3 folder, and it never loaded, I left it for 20 minutes while I went and took a shower and it didn't load. Also left the download in an attempt to install it for almost 1 hour, so something got screwed. I've just re installed the entire thing after backing up the more important files (saves/mods/dccache).

SLIGHTLY annoying, but the dccache didn't backup right for some reason and refused to acknowledge any of the files being there, so I had to reinstall all my store stuff (pain in the arse).
However I've run into the reason I started this thread in the first place again, I got up to a certain part of the installing of the files, and BOOM hit a wall, it wont let me install anymore. I am not sure if it has anything to do with the .tmp files, but it seems it doesn't want to let me install anything anymore at all.
29  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Items refuse to install on: 2013 June 28, 07:16:47
You should be patching via the Superpatch rather then the launcher, the launcher patching is notoriously flaky.

I did that, I saw that it said it wasn't updated, but yah updating made no difference, I still can't install content, or load the game, feeling I may have to reinstall...again.

I finally managed to get it to load, but it wouldn't let me open up my worlds as it claimed that they were made with an expansion that has been uninstalled, which is not the case at all, so I have now just given into re-installing and probably having to start from scratch again.
30  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Items refuse to install on: 2013 June 28, 05:31:03
With the latest patch the launcher does take a lot longer to load up the first time. You should try FULLY patching first, then open the launcher, instal what you're trying to install and wait for it to do it's thing.

On a completely different side note, Chrome is insisting I correct "a lot" to "alot". What is this I don't even.

Well when I installed IP it automatically updated, and according to the launcher the game is fully up to date. I had reinstalled the game from scratch only backing up my neighbourhood and mods folder, but I took the mods folder out for now as some haven't been updated.

Now I've run into another issue, the game wont even load, I opened it with the TS3W.exe with NRAAS NoCD but it doesn't want to work, I get the same black screen and constant loading icon as I do when it's trying to install objects.

Would it hurt if I ran the patcher again?

Edit: Okay after I opened the launcher again it said the game was out of date, updating now to see if it makes a difference.

Edit 2: Updating didn't make a difference to the installation of objects from the launcher Sad they still refuse to install.
31  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Items refuse to install on: 2013 June 28, 03:58:48
So I downloaded a bunch of the objects that were on the store thread, but they refuse to install. Whenever I try to install them from the launcher I get a black screen, and a non responsive.

I've never had a problem installing objects via the launcher before this current expansion pack.

Also I've noticed that my version says 1.54.95.022002 on the launcher.

Edit: I decided to test to see what would happen if I temporarily moved my DCCache folder, and it let me install them successfully without a problem.
32  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Crashes when Saving- DEP not working. on: 2013 February 09, 10:26:20
How did you determine which lots were bugged?  I have seen this issue on one lot in a custom neighborhood, but I seem to fail at "how is one different from the others".

I just picked them up, and if they wouldn't go back down then they were bugged, this was after I had tested editing on them first then attempting to save (before moving them) and getting the crash, moving them, or re sizing them fixed it.
33  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Crashes when Saving- DEP not working. on: 2013 February 01, 06:20:37
Are you running a corporate server? Why have you even got DEP enabled beyond its default setting. Set it back to it's Windows default of "Essential services only", and you'll still be protected against those elite hackers trying to piggy back dodgy files off system services, and at the same time you'll enjoy more application stability. Yeah Sims 3 and DEP don't get along, even if you have it in the exempt list it tends to crash, as do many other games, especially modded games. For most people it's more trouble than it's worth and if on the internet (like you), there are dozens of other ways you are more likely to get dodgy files on your PC.

It's enabled on it's default settings now when it didn't work for me. I figured out the problem though, it turned out that my neighbourhood had lots that were actually intercepting other lots/roads somehow, and it caused it to crash if I built on those lots, so I ended up removing and replacing all of them however I could and haven't had a crash since.

The Happily Ever Frosted wedding cake that came with Monte Vista does not have any actual cake on the plates, nor does it actually reduce in size as people take pieces of it, not sure if this is a fault on EA or if something happened in the decrap process.

I am looking for this http://au.store.thesims3.com/setsProductDetails.html?categoryId=11488&scategoryId=13455&index=0&productId=OFB-SIM3:48403&pcategoryId=13815&ppcategoryId=13202 - I already searched on the site and only found the bedroom (using Futureshock Loft Collection as my search), searching just Futureshock gave me just the bedroom again. I know I had it at one point, but it appears the file in my game has gone crazy, I am missing half the items from it, and I can't move the bunkbed which appears in my game, without it suddenly vanishing and causing a glitch.

Futureshock Loft is part of the 'Final Frontier' set which is in itself a part of the 'When Worlds Collide' Set, which there are already links for in the store forum.

Really? I looked for those and found When Worlds Collide in a .package format, but I wanted it in an untouched sims3pack format. I could not find anything to do with Final Frontier when I put it in search.

Good. I read that it was a complete waste to even buy it. I'm just waiting for the Almighty EA to announce new stuff in the Store that "compliments" the new stuff pack.... i.e. Stuff they purposely removed to sell separately.

I'll be honest in saying I have only purchased 3 Sim 3 games...having purchased ALL of the original, and 2, I felt that expacs etc weren't worth my money unless they provided what I wanted most. Only 2 did that, which was pets and seasons, and I bought the original. All the rest are courtesy of the ARRR.
38  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Crashes when Saving- DEP not working. on: 2013 January 23, 06:23:35
I had a strange crash once that sounds similar and I had been playing it the night before. I was quite upset so I tried everything. This may have been voodoo and wishful thinking, but I ran my save file through the decrapper and I no longer crashed. I have NO idea why it would suddenly work since I had not installed anything new. All I did was close the game down and go to bed! Maybe back up your save and run it through decrap??

I gave up and am now reinstalling the game, I backed up my neighbourhood etc so hopefully I should be right. If I still get the crashes I will try your idea, I guess it wouldn't hurt to try, I am seriously just out of ideas.

Edit: Just FINALLY finished installing my game and the rest of my objects from the sims store only. The game still wont save, it crashes...

I tried decrapping, it didn't work.

This is a weird message I have in my crashlog for every crash I've had: "DasmX86Dll.dll not found"

I just tried again with absolutely NO sim store objects, NO custom CC, or anything of the sort, and I still crash. This is beyond ridiculous now...a complete fresh reinstall and I can't save.

I just tried starting a save game in one of the original worlds (Sunset Valley), the game saved fine without a problem. So then I added all the CC and the store stuff back and it still saved.

Testing my custom world as a fresh save without my family etc: and it saved without a problem.

My custom world by itself even with no CC, only it installed, and no store stuff installed still crashes.

I went in and deleted the prefetch files in my windows folder, as was written in another thread about the dasm error, and it didn't make a difference.

My next task I reverted to the auto backup of the world which was automatically made (the day before this whole incident started occuring)  - this however was pointless as it still crashed.

It's 12am now and I am tired and over this, guess I have to start all over again, unless someone can tell me how I can go about getting all my families etc into the world without breaking ties?

I have one more thing to try in the morning before I give up entirely though.

Unusual I was able to save my game after deleting a lot of land that my mother suggested may have been the issue, but the moment I went and worked on building again, when I saved, the game crashed.

The absolute only thing that I actually did any different with my PC, was I ran a cleaner to get rid of all the clogged up crap on it....I am wondering if this had some sort of ill effect on it, I know it ran a registry cleaner etc...- I used CrapCleaner if anyone is curious.

And it's fixed, lot corruption, even though I deleted it in my original try, I had to delete both that lot and the France nectary that I had in my world to make it work.

Or not...

Okay it turns out somehow the lots of land were in fact on unroutable/other lots/ roads - which when I tried to save on those specific lots, it didn't like it and would crash. Upon fixing all the "bugged" lots I could find, I am no longer crashing. Really this game is more temperamental than my mother.

Get Crash Log Analyzer, read and follow instructions, then try again. It will most likely tell you what causes the CTD and how to fix it.

It came up with nothing, should have added that I tried that.
Ah yes, it was worth a try, though.

I just remembered something on crinrict's blog about buy/build mode issues with saving. The description fits your problem, but the post is only available in German.

This seems to be related to weather effects. The most simple solution calls for removing the christmas lights before changing things.

If this doesn't work, try turning the weather effects off, make changes, save, turn them back on and you're good to go.

Should this fail, there is version 3: save the house to the bin. After that, bulldoze the lot and remove the grid. Place a new grid and put the house back. Then make the desired changes and save.

That's all I could find about this particular problem.

I'll give those a shot when I get home from the city in a few hours, hopefully one of them works. It was fine the day before, now it's just gone stupid.

Edit: has some time before going to test some these. Weather effects turned off didn't make a difference, I didn't have lights going so that didn't matter there, I guess the next thing would be to test the grid bulldozing.

I will also try playing just in the family without building anything for a few sim days and see if it saves.

Crash Analyzer say it is custom content, even with there NO custom content installed.

However I am starting to wonder if perhaps the custom world I installed from the exchange is what is killing my game, and I have no idea where to look for that...

So I have been Googling this for the last 2 hours now, but to no avail.

Last night I was able to save my game, and shut my computer down without an issue. I have not since added any new CC or mods or anything of the sorts. Today when I loaded up the game I was playing around for awhile and decided to build a house. I spent 2 hours building this house on an unused lot of land.

After I was finished I saved, but it spent 30 seconds saying it was saving before it came up with "Sims 3 program has stopped unexpectedly" or such. So I went and checked my DEP list, and it wasn't on there at the time, so I placed it back on, and tried again, but it still crashed. I tried saving without doing anything, just going straight into the game and saving after it loaded, and it saved without a problem. The second that I start modifying anything, and then save, my game will crash.

I have exhausted everything I can think of, I even removed all my CC and started a new neighbourhood, that didn't work.

I am starting to wonder if perhaps I am dealing with a situation that will require a complete reinstall, but I decided to see if anyone had any input/ideas as to what might fix it.

I also haven't updated to 1.47 yet, so I am not sure if that would cause any issues either.
42  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Attractiveness Overload on: 2013 January 22, 00:32:57
Let the sim delete his profile from dating site on the computer, it will significantly reduce the phone calls and gifts.

Same deal as wizard_merlin, it made no difference for me, I got 5 phonecalls in a row at one point asking for a date. Each day I would collect up to 15 gifts in my mailbox.
43  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Attractiveness Overload on: 2013 January 21, 05:02:30
I am seriously getting tired of the constant love letters, and the phonecalls asking my sim out on a date. Every sim he comes across finds him attractive, and finds his wife just as attractive. If it's not some chick ringing him, it's the flamboyant guy from down the street, or the old giddy living with her 10 cats.

The worst part is the constant GIFTS. Everyday my mailbox is filled with 7-10 items of paintings/plants or something random.

I didn't seem to have this much of an issue before installing Seasons, so I assume it is something that came along with seasons. At first it was okay, but now it's just annoying.

Is there anyway to tone it down? I even tried making my sim the fattest plump pudding you would see in your life, but even the diva down the street still found him incredibly hot.
44  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: No Zombies Spawning on: 2013 January 13, 06:39:11
I had harvestable plants that were RIGHT in front of the zombies when they spawned, and they still continued to sit there and growl until, again, they turned human and disappeared. Are they meant to turn human, get in a taxi, and leave?

I don't think so.  In my game, they stay zombies until the next morning, and they usually stay for hours.

I didn't think so. I tried getting rid of my fence around the house, but no zombies spawned still. On the test game they stopped spawning all together now, so I deleted that and started a new one, and they spawned once again for 4 nights this time, doing the same thing, and then disappeared. I am starting to wonder if perhaps something is interfering with it, I also have some of Anach's mods too, so curious if one of his is possibly causing issues. Other than that the only mods I use are the ones basically everyone else uses here.

Mine used to spawn around the garden and then start eating the plants, for this most unzombie-like behaviour they have been banned.

Mine wont even touch plants! There was a literal smorgasbord of plants for them, but they just stood there growling until they turned into humans and disappeared.
47  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: No Zombies Spawning on: 2013 January 11, 05:15:10
I have most of Twallan's mods, and I still get zombies.  Try a fresh save in an EAxian world (use game settings to decrease the wait between full moons so you don't have to wait forever to get to a point where you can test it).

Alright I tested this, and my results are as follows:

When I loaded the game I chose not to run story progression, the first full moon produced 3 zombies. The zombies themselves however were made up of current "homeless" sims, aka vendors/proprietors and the paparazzi, they stood outside my house and growled for about 1 hour before they suddenly turned human again and walked back to their spots.

I then turned on story progression and the next night I got 1 zombie, who just stood there and did nothing, I assume the nothingness progresses from the fact my sim is pregnant and they are probably immune to attacks. This zombie was a random nobody this time, and after an hourish or so turned back to human, got in a taxi and drove off to nowhere and disappeared from existence.

Also I noticed that they spawned on the house I am playing with on my custom hood is completely fenced off, and only has a small area out the front, that wouldn't make a difference would it?

Edit: On the third and fourth night no zombies spawned at all, there was what appeared to be a zombie at the beach, but the second I zoomed in on her, she went from green skinned back to human and ran away. - I continued to play for another sim week and no more zombies were spawning anymore.

Is this the usual behaviour of the zombies?
48  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: No Zombies Spawning on: 2013 January 10, 10:46:53
That belongs on Twallan's forum obviously. Roll Eyes

I've already been through Twallan's forum and the issue is not related to the Nraas mods, I've even tried removing them to weild no results, still no zombies. I am curious as to wheather it has anything to do with the fact that I am using a custom neighbourhood really, but I figured I'd ask about other things first.
49  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / No Zombies Spawning on: 2013 January 10, 09:27:15
So I've been playing my sim game for awhile now and noticed that not one zombie has spawned. I do not use any mods that stop/lower the spawn rate of zombies, so I don't understand what is going on there.

I do use Nraas Overwatch, Story Progression and Master Controller, but I selected no on clearing out the homeless when I first ran it, and I have clear out the homeless set to false so it doesn't get rid of them on overwatch, but I have yet to see a single zombie spawn. Is there perhaps something I am overlooking here? I know a lot of people say "Why the hell would you want those things to spawn?" - well frankly I like zombies, I like the concept of them, and would like to see them.

I found the dds files for CAW, but unsure if they would work in game too.

No, they won't work as terrain paints in the game, but you could convert them.  Wink

If I knew how to do that, do you think I'd be requesting where I could find them? - Wait let me rephrase that, if I could be bothered to get off my lazy arse to do them, I would.
