One thing to watch for when a group of visitors arrive in a shell block is don't let your host sim leave his apartment to meet them in the foyer.  Once he leaves his own apartment, the game considers him "not at home" and the visitors leave once they detect that.

Is that perhaps why I am constantly getting the random "I have to go, bye!" message 2 seconds after my visitors arrive?
227  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Building Your Own Apartments: Late Night on: 2010 November 02, 09:16:53
I think for newly built apartments to have neighbors, you need the apartment mailbox. I just plopped the one Jynx unhidden on my apartment complex and the regular mailbox disappeared, then my sim had neighbors move in.

Unusual maybe I did something wrong, I did have the chute and the apartment mailbox down in my apartment but it still did not allow neighbours to move in. I will try the unhidden ones and see if it works Smiley
228  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Building Your Own Apartments: Late Night on: 2010 November 01, 10:22:47
I wonder if the expense could be a problem for my apartment complex. Just finished building one and it seems to be working fine, but I furnished all the apartments the same as my active sim. Her apartment cost a little over 26k simoleons (two bedrooms and one and half bathrooms), so I might not have any sims able to afford the apartments.

By "working fine" you mean that NPC's are moving into empty apartments correct?

As for the cost issue it could be due to the fact that you may not have set a public marker where one should be one, or hidden room markers too. If it is those excess objects, try removing them from all the "spare" apartments and then seeing if the price drops.
229  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Building Your Own Apartments: Late Night on: 2010 November 01, 03:53:09
Well I've been playing around with this for awhile now. So far I have only used the apartment pictured by Claeric above to make my own, however they just don't function the same. No idea what is missing here, but I have everything set up correctly the apartment is priced right, public and room markers set, however the issue is what was mentioned a bit earlier. NPC sims do NOT move into the apartments that you make yourself, which beg's to ask why? What have EA done? I am wondering if perhaps it has something to do with the doors, they are set as "Make Usable by NPC" etc, but no NPC's ever move in, so there has to be something hidden here.
230  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Attempting to Unlock the other High Rise shells on: 2010 October 30, 04:50:09
Look in your empty houses bin in-game. They're on pre-made lots, but it's better than nothing.

Yeah the only problem is that to build your own with those items you have to use the one apartment which doesn't have a shell. All other apartments have shells which you cannot pick up or delete, and of course using the bulldozer tool on the lot get's rid of the Communal Mailbox.
231  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Building Your Own Apartments: Late Night on: 2010 October 30, 04:09:31
I've got apartment building down, but has anyone managed to get other people living in a custom apartment? Nobody seems to automatically move in. Is there something special you have to do to get someone going in and out of those doors?

I don't know, I spent a good 2 hours playing around with it last night. Of course my issue was trying to find a spot to actually FIT the apartment lot. Your apartment is using the Communal Mailbox right?
232  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Late Night bugs & annoyances on: 2010 October 29, 11:10:17
All I can say to this is "what the?":

This is basically the build up of the flash from when you use the sledgehammer tool to destroy things, not only that but when you purchase or sell items those icons stay there too. This is with the game being Mod Free.

Should note, those flashes STAY there, they do not disappear unless I unpause the game, quite hard to do when building on a community lot.
233  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Building Your Own Apartments: Late Night on: 2010 October 29, 03:37:14
Yeah, for now I am using a cheat method. I am going to clone a current apartment lot, remove all the "crap" that I dont want, put the mailbox and chute to the side, build it up and place them where I want them. I am guessing to destroy the original mail box (for when someone manages to unhide the chute and apartment mailbox) you have to Nuke it using AwesomeMod?
234  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Building Your Own Apartments: Late Night on: 2010 October 29, 03:01:06
Thank you for that Claeric, that wasn't really clarified anywhere I could find, managed to fix my apartment to work with the doors now. The Callbox is not the object however that I am looking for, I am looking for the wall Mailbox, the one which is seen in other apartments.
235  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Building Your Own Apartments: Late Night on: 2010 October 29, 02:02:29
Thank you for this, however I am experiencing a slight problem. When I CTRL+SHIFT click a door to set it as an NPC Door, I do not get the option to do so, any clue as to why?

Also on another note, I cannot for the life of me find the mailbox that you see in most of the other apartments (the wall mailbox).
236  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Late Night bugs & annoyances on: 2010 October 29, 01:24:23
Latest annoyance for me is the Home Owners crap. Went to Edit Town to build my own custom home, and the bloody Home Owners Association wont let me build! Had to use RestrictBuildBuyInBuildings False just so I could actually build anything on my own custom lot.
237  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Late Night Arr on: 2010 October 27, 13:55:30
Such impatience with you people. Why bother getting it faster than I can?

Why not?! I'm not really impatient though, I just HATE long download times, being that I play online games (World of Warcraft *cough*), I don't like to stuff around with my latency as it is (for those "speshul" people who don't understand what latency is, it's the speed at which you receive data at, the higher your latency, the less data you receive making your internet slower). Oh well anyway I really hope to see an improvement in this game from their last expansions, the others just didn't seem as exciting. The main thing I am looking at and drooling slightly over is the roof top pools and the breast sliders (yay no more flat chested skinny sims and big boobed fat sims!).

Although it is good to note that the PB download is now running at a smooth 160 kB/s for me and hasn't dropped in over an hour, 21% complete in 2 hours so far, according to my torrent data it should be done by the time I wake up in the morning.
238  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Late Night Arr on: 2010 October 27, 09:53:27

Know if its worth it to pay the $5 to download quicker? Just curious because I live in Australia and would like to download this quicker (each file says 5 hours)
239  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Missing ambitions objects on: 2010 August 16, 04:30:14
I am not sure how I can help you, but I am also experiencing the same issue, although my missing objects are a few decorative ones. This occured after the latest AwesomeMod was installed, no idea perhaps and update will fix it? I will keep looking into it as much I can though.

241  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Feedback and Help- CAW on: 2010 July 28, 03:41:23
What you are asking for is not possible at this time, at least not with the tiny island you chose to use as a base.  If you really want to create something like this, you need to choose the largest piece of land possible.  Then you should plop down one of the distance terrain objects.  Carve away at the land until you have chiseled away almost all of the land around the distant terrain.  Then you can make your little islands as far away from that as possible and it will appear as though the main land is in the distance.

Aside from that I'm not into tiny island towns.  I like large sprawling worlds that put my computer to the test.  There are many others that like them small though.

Ah damn, is there any possible way to already increase the map size after I've chosen a base size? That way I can fix the problem im experiencing, if not I gues I'll fix the water so it floats down a bit nicer so it doesnt look like one giant square of blue.

And I was intending on building a big one in the first place, but I just never seem to have the patience to go about building all the lots to go with it (I am not very skilled in building houses in my own opinion haha).
242  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Feedback and Help- CAW on: 2010 July 28, 01:44:07
Okay so I'm working on my own little town at the moment, it isn't complete, but it's getting there, the basic layout is done, but I have ran into a couple of issues. (The roads on the right island are not complete on purpose, as I am working on the left and middle islands first).

First off here is an overview of the town itself:

The problem however that I've run into is something like this:

I am trying to find a way at limiting the camera so it doesn't trail off like that, there was an option in CAW called "Camera Routing" but alas it seems to do absolutely...nothing. Also when I completely zoom out (as in picture one) it looks out of place and wrong. My current idea to solving this is forgetting the access point and instead making a "fake" ferrie point somewhere on the island to make it feel more like a lone island.

I decided I'd take a look at good old help, but for the last couple of days all I have gotten is : "The site is down for maintenance. Please try again later."

Anyway what I am asking for is a bit of feedback in regards to the look of the town itself. It's only going to be a small town, the middle island is where the City Hall and main park will be situated, the left island is most likely going to be housing, stores and school, while the right will be employment places of different assorts. There are no "big" houses in this neighbourhood, they will be small to medium size.

Anyway any feedback/help is appreciated. Thanks Smiley

So what I'm thinking of doing though with my island is also making most of the areas accessable only by walking there, like what will be for the middle island, so I was thinking of removing the middle roads on the left island, any thoughts?
243  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Profession searching problem on: 2010 July 21, 04:45:08
so I know it hasn't been asked in specifics here.

WRONG.  It has been discussed here, go over to the AM bug reporting thread, and start there, it had been discussed recently.  Then stop starting new posts about shit already being covered.

Last time you told me that, I pointed out that my post was actually made BEFORE it was being discussed, so get your dates right.

Second off, when I typed in the search the result was what I stated, I also said I removed my mods INCLUDING awesomemod so did not believe it to be a mod issue, therefore I did not see a reason to search through all the bug reports on the AwesomeMod thread, as to me the issue did not involve AwesomeMod. So I arrived at the conclusion that I best ask if perhaps this was a GAME issue rather then that of an AwesomeMod one.
244  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Profession searching problem on: 2010 July 21, 03:07:52
Alright I got bored and decided to move my family from Twinbrook to Sunset Valley. I've already placed all the required rabbit holes for Sunset Valley that came with Ambitions, but am now experiencing a problem.

The problem  am having is I am sending my sim to look for a profession on either the PC or the Newspaper, but she searches for a second and then stops, not allowing me to choose a profession for her.

I have tried taking out all my mods, and even AwesomeMod, but am still experiencing this problem. I have googled it, but all it could give me was guides on what the professions do, I did a search on this website and got some  "guess this!" thread, so I know it hasn't been asked in specifics here.

I am able to pick up professions by going to the building directly however.
245  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Stupid Sims 3 patch on: 2010 July 10, 10:32:20
Try installing the basegame patch that is in this thread Willee. If that one doesnt work, get this one:

http://akamai.cdn.ea.com/eadownloads/u/f/sims/sims3/patches/Sims3_1.14.11.007002_from_1.12.70.006002.exe

That will sort your problem Smiley
246  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Stupid Sims 3 patch on: 2010 July 10, 09:10:17
Arg

Tried to update my basegame, but it tells me: "The setup has detected that the installed game region for this update is incorrect"

Sigh, now I have to hunt down the basegame?

Worst part is, after installing the latest patch, because it keeps telling me the basegame needs to be patched, the launcher freezes and wont load at all.

Alright managed to get the patch to work, but launcher is still being a bit iffy with me, it keeps whining about EA Download manager, and can freeze because of it sometimes, but it worksn other occasions.
247  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Pathing Issues in Twinbrook on: 2010 June 23, 02:40:36
Yah as I said, bulldozing and rezoning appears to allow the lots to work correctly again. I noticed when I moved the school I could not put it back near the road, so mine is a bit off from it. When I was trying to replace the actualy school rabbithole itself, it kept saying "Cannot intersect objects", I even destroyed everything on the lot to test it, and still wouldn't work.

Removing the pool and the garden, and then seperating them a little bit seemed to fix the pathing issue, it was as though a certain part of the road was unaccessable to the sims.
248  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Pathing Issues in Twinbrook on: 2010 June 22, 23:57:13
I couldn't seem to find this anywhere, but I appear to be having some pathing issues in Twinbrook. First time it was the school, everytime my sim kids went to school, they would never actually enter the building, instead they would sit there with the "blocked path" icon above their head, however there was nothing blocking them. In the end I bulldozed the school after making a copy and placed a new one down, that seemed to fix the problem.

However now I'm getting it randomly appearing in different locations, and it's so bad that people who are on those lots get stuck there, and either end up dying or pass out in their pee.
The problem is now occuring on different lots, and I don't want to have to go through all the lots making backups then blowing them up again, anyone have any clue what could be causing this pathing issue? There is absolutely NOTHING blocking them, nor having been changed, it seems when sims are instructed to go to those locations from afar they start to have these issues, but if you tell them to go to individual spots they can get out (not possible with NPCs though who are also having the problem).

Edit: Okay it seems that 3 lots are majorly affected, the community pool, the school, and the garden next to the pool. They have weird lot sizes though ( 30x40 and 40x30) and I tried to place new replacing lots for them, and instead ended up getting an error "Cannot place on lots", except there was no lot there.
249  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Sim AI inconsistent on: 2010 June 21, 03:54:09
What I've noticed lately, even with AwesomeMod installed, is my sims like to stand still and stare into space after I've told them to do something. Sometimes my sim will stand naked infront of the bathtub for about 30 sim minutes before they actually hop in, or when I tell them to clean up, they stand infront of the pile and pick their nose. EA has either played with the autonomy levels or something, because I swear when I had it on low, my sims are least did SOMETHINGs, such as watch TV etc, and on high they didn't all flood the PC to play it (had to get a mod to stop this), they actually did quite a lot of different things. Since getting AMB however it's been rather frustruting with their random actions.
250  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Why this dumbas sim behave like a dumbass ? on: 2010 June 20, 14:23:24
Sims with the insane trait wear inappropriate clothes.

I do not know why sims run instead of walk, it does look wrong. I thought it was a mod, but it happened in my unmodded game as well. Maybe it's the athletic trait.

Yeah athletic sims seem to run EVERYWHERE, so do brave sims from my experience. Lazy sims seem to slump around like they are still half asleep, it's rather entertaining, although the running is rather frustrating and stupid.
