I don't think I have ever seen a post by someone more identified with being a "wife" -- I now need to re-watch episodes of "Bachelor Pad" to clear my head.  I guess this individual is what all of the men spend two months salary on a diamond in order to obtain.  So much for female engineers and programmers.  If *husband* can take care of it, why bother?

Very interested to know what you did -- the automatic Windows updates always break my game as well, and I'm curious to see if you figured out a simpler way to correct the problem than reinstalling everything.

Had this been a shelf offered by Restoration Hardware or Pottery Barn, I would obviously have ignored it, but here you have:
 
1) the whole "show-offy" aspect of things -- which is what fixing code *overnight* that took a team months to write might seem like to a person who works with that team;
2) the complete lack of parallel structure between the concept of a "modest" shelf and one that is awesome -- I still can't figure out the point they are trying to make; and
3) the sad little part at the end about flaunting one's awesomeness and not being that awesome after all.  Whistling in the dark -- good luck with that EA.

This is a company that has very publicly lost hundreds of millions of dollars.  If the person who wrote that had NEVER heard of MATY or the awesomemod, it would shed considerable light on a complete lack of market awareness that would doom the company for real.  I give them credit for taking a potshot, even if the grammar is terrible.

The Sims 3 was the first PC game I purchased since Zork Nemesis.  Within less than a week, reading ONLY the official Sims 3 forum, I already knew there was an "awesome" mod that fixed various bugs.  If the people writing descriptions in the actual game still don't know that, EPIC FAIL.

Yes.  In my game these moves are definitely happening in pairs.  The families are moving at night.  Displacing one another.  AwesomeStory is not announcing the moves during the day.  Some marriages are dissolving (but I also have Twallan's "woohooer" installed, and figured that was why).  I am enjoying the show, and have not been paying close attention.

AwesomeMod is working perfectly for moves - for example, "listhomeless" showed a four-member Elmore household with $20K.  I build a new $19.5K house with four beds in it, and the next time I checked, they had moved in.  The move did not happen at night, but a short time after the house was completed.

I do not use Supreme Commander and none of the families are marked "sacred".  I have not renamed any houses, and have added several unnamed houses I've built myself.  I am currently using the 6/16 version of AwesomeMod, and had earlier versions since June 5th on the same Twinbrook game with no problems. 

In the interests of sanity, those of you who are fairly sophisticated and careful users of non-pirated games (I have no idea how pirated games behave) can probably ignore all of this doll drama. 

I downloaded that doll a while ago and have had absolutely no problems with it.  In fact I kind of like having the creepy little thing around and have no intention of uninstalling it.  (I have never uploaded anything, so no need to panic -- you won't be getting it from me.)  I read all fourteen pages of the first thread referenced in this post (the one that was subsequently deleted), and also followed the most recent link above, and again read all of the pages.  None of it was particularly compelling, so I've decided not to do anything at all.

My alternative would be to check over 4,300 Sims3Pack files one at a time to find something that appears to be perfectly harmless.  The threats from the doll seem vague and poorly described -- the amount of time it would take to check all of my files is enormous and all too real.

If I discover that I have any sort of doll-related problem, I will edit this post to let people know.

For reference, I have a problem-free game with WA, HELS, and AMB (all purchased and downloaded from EA) running with the June 14th version Awesome Mod.

I have Awesome Mod version "6/7/2010 11:43 pm" working  beautifully with Ambitions installed.  All of the information I needed to get it running is available either on this site or through searching.  I am using over 1000 different CC items, and several other mods (Nraas and others) and have experienced no conflicts at all.  All of my EA products (games and store items) were downloaded from EA.   I never experienced any warnings about mods or custom content version incompatibility.

Given some the comments in this thread, I wanted to at least let people know that searching and lurking pay off.  Many the problems described here may be due to the difficulties of getting pirated content to work -- I finally decided to try Awesome Mod again and was pleasantly surprised at how easily it loaded.  Getting the game ready took a bit of work, and I cannot offer any help other than the standard SEARCH MOAR and LURK MOAR.  But I am enjoying my game, which is finally awesome again, and wanted to let any users similar to myself know that it is safe to jump in.
