Hubby put some cash into my account so I sent off a $50 USD donation to you early.

I can't help much or often, but when I can I will.  You've helped the community a lot over the years and I
don't want to see this place dry up and blow away.

I don't post much or often, because I can usually find what I need by searching (and I don't particularly like getting
my ass reamed if the question has already been answered) but is it possible to get a different title than "Asinine Airhead".
Not required.  Just a thought.

Just paid the house taxes, my next disability check should come in the 23rd.  I'll put some in then.  Hope it helps.

I've had my game lag there, but its usually when it's rewriting the cache files after I've
cleared them for one reason or another.  It hasn't indicated that they've waited for any
length of time.  My suggestion:

Walk away from it for a while, if it's still hung up after a substantial amount of time, then it's hung up.
I can't say how much time is 'substantial' enough, it really depends on your system configuration, which
I'm not psychic enough to figure out.

Can you check the download availability for the http://www.mediafire.com/file/6knn3c9w9bhblc1/Simius_Slavebots.package on MediaFire please?
I keep getting the error "No servers are available with the requested data on them. Please retry your request in a moment."
I've been trying for over 3 hours and nothing so far.

Edit: Still trying an hour later and still the same problem. Does anyone have a copy of the unmodified/undecrapified/updated file that I can get from them?

Edit: Well, it took 24 hours but I have the file.

Can this file be uploaded somewhere else? All the rest of them are fine and I've tried downloading for more than 24 hours and it's still giving me the same error. I even saved it to my own Mediafire folder and I get the same Unavailable error.

Here's a link to my own personal 4shared account. I can't see it taking that long for anyone.

There are three files in the .zip file, you can use the one you need. http://www.4shared.com/file/Ur3v4-EO/Simius_Slavebot_Mods.html
Or just the .package file here: http://www.4shared.com/file/-yRpUB91/Simius_Slavebots.html

Did you decrapify them before you tried to install?
6  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Memory issues on: 2010 September 24, 13:19:53

Yes! That must have been it! Chandria thank you....
I guess my problem was that either i didn't LAA all the execs or that i didn't expand my virtual memory since my last OS re-installation or both.
The game is totally different now that progress is saved and the time line is actually flowing instead of doing the same things over and over ....
Where EA has failed you guys have helped me big time, i owe you  Grin

You're welcome, I figured it had to be some combo of both problems since you could play, but not save.
MATY is famous for fixing EA's stupididties. (Don't pounce! I intentionally misspelled that!)
7  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Memory issues on: 2010 September 23, 11:50:10
Hey guys, thanx for all the useful suggestions i'll try them out now, never hurts to use different methods. I'm running on a 32-bit Win 7 by the way.

It seems the game regularly crashes even with LAA checked from the CFF Explorer anytime i'm in a big lot, or going to a place where sims. Meaning when the memory goes over the top, whether i have LAA checked or not the game CTDs. Kind of a stupid lapse on the developers end. This problem has persisted since Sims 2 and you'd think that after ALL these YEARS they'd say: Hey, our game is crashing, let's do something about this, let's just re-work the engine and make the game take up less space. How about we figure out a way to make the game dump all unnecessary memory once it's used up and cache-in only the useful textures and meshes?

Either way, thanx again, and i'm open for other solutions as well.

Have you enabled LAA on your OS also?  Your game could be trying to use it, but if your OS isn't enabled, that will create problems also.
Win7 is LAA capable, but the default configuration on most machines is that there is only 2G or less available.  You may also want to enlarge your paging file to the maximum also.  Default setups are really configured for minimal machines and don't take into consideration individual setups. That's not cost-effective on an assembly line.

That might depend where you are.  Locally I have seen more computers shipping with 64-bit OS and 4 GB of RAM.
I'm in the NE USA, and when shopping for my daughter's machine, all we found in most of the comp stores was 32 bit OS's. It's is not that 64-bit wasn't available, but it's an upcharge for the shop to install a 64-bit on a specific machine when you buy it.  Many people don't know enough about computers to ask for it.
8  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Memory issues on: 2010 September 22, 12:33:42
Not knowing exactly which OS he's running, it's possible, even probable, he's not running a 64-bit OS.  Most computers are shipped with a 32-bit one.

It was just a fair guess that his OS was at the root of his VM problems, and not a shortage of RAM since he is using CFF already.
9  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Memory issues on: 2010 September 22, 04:44:39
He had only done half of what I recommended. Making his OS LAA also was my first recommendation.
10  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Memory issues on: 2010 September 22, 04:26:29
Now i've found a way to avoid that horrible crash with CFF Explorer by making the .exe file use well over 2GB of RAM and these crashes no longer occur while playing. However, if i try to save they still DO happen. Again the issue is that lots of virtual memory has been spent. So i was wondering: What if i empty all the loaded memory and THEN save? It's logical that the game wouldn't crash then. Just like emptying your browsers cache. So is there any command or way to do this ingame prior to saving? Or is this theoretically impossible?

I gave him options because: 1. He was still getting the crashes while saving for the same reason, which indicates that CFF Explorer wasn't working.
                                          2. The tool over on MTS doesn't violate the EA's TOS and is "point and clickable" easy to use without having to remember
to save off a copy of the exe file for future expansions and patches.
                                          3. What's the point of playing when you can't save your game's progress?

Unless you know of a way to strip down the VM before the save so that he doesn't crash, can't he try my recommendations before you pounce all over them?
11  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Memory issues on: 2010 September 21, 12:59:59
Over on Microsoft's site, there are the commands to make your OS Large Address Aware.

If you have up to 4G of ram (which I think should be the mimimum to play Sims3),
there's a utility over on MTS that will make the game Large Address Aware without violating the EA's TOS.

A bit of searching on both sites will help keep your game from crashing from memory shortages.

You simply need to remember to turn off LAA before you add another EP/SP and/or patch your game, then turn it back on before you play.

12  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: How do i know if awesome mod works? on: 2010 September 17, 00:58:11

Do ctrl+shift+c and type in 'showconfig' if awesomemod is working 4 pages of settings will pop up. If it doesn't recognise the command, its not installed correctly.

Encouraging the snowflakes will not help them go away.
Next thing you'll be explaining to her how to wipe her ass.
All she has to do is READ THE FRACKING MANUAL to find her answers!!
13  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2010 September 17, 00:49:11
I had a previous version of the framework installed from way back before I had any expansion packs. Thats why I followed the uninstall instructions. There's no need to be rude.

If you'd followed the instructions correctly there would not be anything in C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3...etc...
except maybe the d3dx9_31.dll which should be in every individual \Game\Bin folder for every EP and Sp you have.
(This is not necessarily required for everyone but some people cannot run their games without it.)

Everything would be in your C:\Your Name\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods folder

Re-read and FOLLOW the instructions.
14  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2010 September 17, 00:00:14
Hi I'm having problems getting AwesomeMod to work. I have both World Adventures and Ambitions.
I think I've followed all the instructions correctly but when running the game 'showconfig' comes up with nothing.

I followed the framework instilation instructions found here:
http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,17454.msg540991.html#msg540991

Which leaves me with a folder in C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\ called 'mods' containing the Resource.cfg file and a subfolder called 'packages'. I placed the awesome mod in the packages folder along with a configuration file. Am I missing anything? Do I need to copy and paste it all to my expansion pack directories too? Does it matter that I'm using the launcher and not the exe?

Re-read your instructions again.
Do NOT follow the uninstall directions when you should be following the INSTALL directions.
In other words:
You've done it wrong.
15  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Pudding Factory is for downloads: put your lame requests & WCIFs here on: 2010 September 12, 17:46:36
Hi all. I was wondering if anyone knows how to get hold of the Pandorasims.net items? There hasn't ben a booty update for Pandora since June 7 and there are currently some great items on the Pandorasims site.

You could try "Have you destroyed a paysite today?" link at the top of the forum page.

Heavens, what happened to curiosity people?
16  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Pudding Factory is for downloads: put your lame requests & WCIFs here on: 2010 September 04, 13:21:31
Is it Twallan's Debug enabler, or story progression? You can get them both here.

It's neither.  It used to be Twallan's Super Computer but he changed it to the Master Controller and Overwatch.  It's still available on TS3 Exchange though.
17  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Game won't load on: 2010 August 30, 20:00:54
Okay, I took a look at the Simius pics and the Resource.cfg file.  I think the problem might be that your Resource.cfg file is NOT setup for the
the way the pictures show the setup to be.

Drag and drop all the other folders into your Packages folder until the ONLY TWO things in your Mods folder are the Resource.cfg and the Packages folder.
Like this:
Sims 3 ->Mods
                  Resource.cfg
                  Packages->
                                 Awesome
                                 Overrides
                                 Testing
                                  etc....

Delete your cache.package files and see if it starts (try it both with and without the dll file).

18  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Game won't load on: 2010 August 30, 19:03:17
The aweconf.package file goes in the same folder as awesome.package.

Have you tried putting the d3dx9_31.dll back into ALL the  Program Files EP/SP /Game/Bin locations?

It DOES make a difference for some players. (It did for me.)

Also, which Resource.cfg file are you using?

OMFG! Are you for real? Are you really that computer stupid?  You can't even spell the names of the files correctly, so of course you can mess it up easily!
My advice: Either run the game without any mods or custom content or uninstall Sims 3 from your computer since you obviously don't have the minimum intelligence required to run the game, never mind to try using mods with it!

Oh wow, I forgot a "k". Wow. You really got me there. Yes, a slight typo is really what tips me over the enge of being absolutely dim witted. Thanks for making me clear on that!

You obviously not knowing what the Resource.cfg file is, where it comes from (HINT: It is NOT found on the "Shiny" page!), and where it goes was a dead giveaway.

Your lack of spelling skills are just irritating.

Sorry, Jeromy, I caught it just when you did! I'm still trying to drink my coffee here!  Tongue
21  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AM not running on vanilla? on: 2010 August 01, 14:34:47
Did you grab the right copy of Resource.cfg?

I downloaded everything from the "Shiny" page. That should be the newest ones?
It is very, very easy to screw up the framework, especially the old method.  You only need to miss one file, or place one file in the wrong spot, or grab the wrong file and it won't work.
.pacage files in Mods-pacages, resource file in directory, .ddl file in Bin. I don't get how I could've screwed that up.

Also, did you pull out the d3dx9_31.dll files out of the Game/Bin directories? I don't know if it makes a difference if you do or not, it does for some.
If you remove this file, your game no longer works. Put it back, making sure it is installed in your latest game version's game/bin directory, which normally means "all of them", since at one point each of them was probably your latest game version.

I totally agree! Many people told me to pull mine out, but then my game didn't load until I put them all back in.

So I did that, but it didn't work, then I decided to send EA to hell, and uninstall and re-install again,I downloaded a new version of AM again. Now the only new problem is that my game doesn't reconize AM....again
I tried the Program files  and Documents again, but still to no avail.(I have the new resource file)
Is there like a minimall chance that you can help me?

Okay, way back to basics and another stab in the dark.
Did you delete ALL the cache.package files (especially the Script.cache.package) in your My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/ folder?

Edited to not make the double post faux pas
23  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Game won't load on: 2010 August 01, 12:02:58
Jip,patched up and ready Smiley,so I tried it,and still nothing.
Grrr,damn EA!! Angry
Any other ideas?

This is a blind stab in the dark, but when you tried that did you also grab the NEW Resource.cfg file and put in the new MODS folder?
The new one is totally different from the old one, so it's not a move and dump thing to change it.  You can find the new one over on ModTheSims.

Also, did you pull out the d3dx9_31.dll files out of the Game/Bin directories? I don't know if it makes a difference if you do or not, it does for some.

Beyond these suggestions, I'm tapped out.
24  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Game won't load on: 2010 August 01, 11:14:12
I did that, and  when it comes to the loading screen, the music cuts out,and everything just stops, now when I take out AM,the game is fine again.
I only have WA,so AM is in Program files, can someone help me out of my stupidness?

Is it fully patched up to date?  If so, try the configuring your cc in your My Documents folder and see if it works.
I'm not sure if EAxis changed the setup for the older EP's in their latest patches or not, but from what I've read, I think they may have done so.
(They probably don't say anything specifically so that people will be motivated to buy the newer EP's to get their games working again.)
If it works, you're ahead of the game for when you get HELS and AMB, if it doesn't you're no further behind than you were.
