1  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Bug Report Thread on: 2018 February 27, 23:48:04
Flagrant System Error. Very scarey.
I checked; do have the latest AM, and I don't know what's going on.

Did you ever find out what this was? I've been getting the same thing for a few months, too. Seems like it happens after a birthday, although the one I got today was after I adopted a pet and the pet was on the way. The clock stops running but the game goes on. (The time it stops is random.) The household no longer knows when to go to work, school, etc.

<?xml version="1.0"?>
-<FSE> <Error>Sims3.SimIFace.ResetException: Exception of type Sims3.SimIFace.ResetException was thrown.</Error> </FSE>

FYI, I removed Awesome Mod and no problems with the clock. Still have Nraas MC/SP & Tagger, plus some fixes for EA items. This first time this clock issue happened to me was around the end of October '17. I haven't played much since then and certainly not long enough to trigger it. I decided to play a different house in a different neighborhood (an EA house) and the clock stoppage happened (as mentioned above). Yesterday I downloaded the new AM (since I was cursed at when I'd asked about a mod when EA changed something with Origin, I figured the mod would never be updated), and a new MC/SP. Tried again and the house was still dealing with the clock stoppage. That did not fix the problem and I still got the message when I started the game that Awesome conflicts - mentioning the latter simply because I'm here. I removed Awesome and the house that I'd quit playing 4 months ago is now working fine. I, of course, created a new config so wondering if there is something on it that conflicts.

Apparently I have no control whatsoever. Oh well, no surprise there....  Smiley

You're using Origin, which voids your warranty. No one is going to feel sorry for you.

Since when does Origin void the warranty? Warranty on WHAT exactly? Starler talking rubbidge as usual. Sounds like that virus that was going to - lessee - sour your milk, make your BF go off with the milkman, and cause an avalanche in Hawaii?

Columbia, I think you'll find the EA Sims 3 forums are closed for posting. They're only interested in Sims 4 now. Never found much help there, apart from Writin' Reg, who was a hero.

Oh and this

Quote
I know...sometimes it cracks me up that more time is spent with snide remarks, including Starler apparently, than it would take to merely answer a legitimate question!

D'oh. This IS MATY! That's why we come here. Most of the time it's very amusing. But Starler's not very good at it.

Actually you can post on Sims, they just moved the forum.

http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/categories/general-discussion-en

Not that amusing and I come here for the awesome mod. I'm a grownup - that means I don't see the point in wasting anyone's time, including my own, with childish name-calling, who readily admits to not being a computer programmer and believes that a legitimate question deserves a legitimate answer.

Starler, to clarify, I am looking for an answer on AwesomeMod and if it will be viable without further modifications, in spite of the warning message. Your remarks about Origin are irrelevant to my question and, as I explained before, since I purchased some of my packs from Origin, pointless. I'm educated and capable of logical thought so would likely be able to comprehend a REAL answer to my AM question. Perhaps you cover your own insecurity of NOT knowing the answer with bravado but it isn't helpful nor informative.
3  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomemod Request Thread on: 2016 January 13, 06:32:27
Thanks Columbia.

I suppose what I really need to know is HOW CAN I TELL if it's working?

ETA OK I can do Showconfig. That works.

From reading around it looks as if the main purpose of the "patches" is to 1) lock us into Origin for starting the game, and 2) to lock us into Origin for buying store points - naturally more expensively than the points available from the Store. Since I never buy Store points, it looked fairly safe.

Mine did update, and yes, willy-nilly, like yours Columbia. I made the decision to carry on playing with this save and hope it's okay.
It isn't quitting out - but, really, is there no way to tell?
Game crashes frequently but then my game does anyhow. I DO play with CC, but even playing without ANY CC including AM it still crashes, so I'm none the wiser.

Oh and Jezzer, go jump in a pond.

I know...sometimes it cracks me up that more time is spent with snide remarks, including Starler apparently, than it would take to merely answer a legitimate question!

As for AM, I know that one of the functions it provides is to automatically turn on Testing Cheats. I don't remember if it did "BuyDeBug" but Nraas has a mod that turns it on. Right now (without AM) I have to enable Testing Cheats. I guess if you can put AM in the game and click on the mailbox and have those options come up, AM should be working. Again, my question was whether this was like before when there was a grace period after a patch before AM would no longer run. The answer to that would be a more appropriate use of a reply.

As for Starler, I've no idea what in the world you are going on about. It certainly didn't have anything to do with the question we had but merely seemed a soapbox opportunity. Warranty? What? I bought most of my games from Origin so I've no idea what that is all about. Calling people stupid is rude and pointless, especially when it is nothing more than your opinion. And, with you being so smart, what is the answer to the actualy question?

Sita, if you are having problems with your game (other than the AM update), you need to post elsewhere, like EAs forum. There is obviously something going on with your game/PC and maybe those people over there would be happy and willing to help you out!
4  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomemod Request Thread on: 2016 January 12, 21:34:15
Question: with these latest two updates, IS AM actually breaking? Mine seems to be working, apart from the warning when game loads?

That would be good to know definitively. I know that in the past, whenever there was a patch, AM would work for a short time before it would quit completely. If it still works, I guess we'll have to wait and see if we only get a grace period or if it is all still good.  I got the warning and just "Quit" as I don't know if it would bork the save or not. Didn't think to play on through. Might have to save my game file yet again and see what happens. And wouldn't wish anyone's house would be set on fire-that's just silly! And it doesn't help anyone at all with the question as to whether or not AM will work with this patch.

BTW, I went into my game today and I'm at 1.69.43 (was 1.69.42), even though I selected the option to not install the update and play anyway. Apparently I have no control whatsoever. Oh well, no surprise there....  Smiley
5  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomemod Request Thread on: 2016 January 11, 21:35:08

I kept the thread open because of the "fix" a couple of days ago that messed things up again, just in case Pescado wants to take a look at it.

Just as an FYI (and further proof that EA needs to leave things alone because when they start messing with it, it goes from bad to worse) but there is yet another update. I had removed the automatic update option after the 1.69.42 update so got the notification today prior to playing and didn't install, and even though AM doesn't work with this version, I thought I'd pass along the info in case anyone was interested in updating AM.

6  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomemod Request Thread on: 2016 January 08, 02:22:09
Sorry, Merlin, but no. The AM mod I downloaded from here yesterday before finding out it doesn't work is actually dated 10/2/2015. (Guessing AM WAS updated for 1.69!) I checked the date before installing - not so stupid, you know.  I know this crowd must be sad not to have shown me up...Smiley Also, as I mentioned in my post, I have an old game save with a 2014 AM that is likely the 1.67.

I kept the thread open because of the "fix" a couple of days ago that messed things up again, just in case Pescado wants to take a look at it.

"Have fun storming the castle!"
7  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomemod Request Thread on: 2016 January 07, 17:17:47
I'm not sure what you mean by unapproved update. I've been happily playing TS3 and 2 evenings ago, opened Origin to check on the price of a game. I hadn't been there since before the 1.69 patch and, since EA's moved on from TS3, had no idea it even existed or any reason to check.  Origin did all of it's own little automatic updates , which I didn't question and obviously included the "downgraded" TS3 update, too. Again, I'd no idea there'd been a patch released on a game EA no longer supported or even cared about so I didn't take any precautions. That makes me reasonable, not stupid.

I've been told I can uninstall/reinstall just the base game (not the EPs/SPs) and then only update through 1.67 to get back to "normal". I'd then have to make certain Origin no longer updates automatically. If I do this, where can I get the 1.67 Awesome mod because I overwrote it without knowing how awful the 1.69 patch is! (BTW, I guess the latest little "fix" that was downloaded 2 days ago also makes the older 1.69 core mods borked - Nraas ErrorTrap isn't working, nor is AM.)

As for the Gameplay and scripts packages, I'd be happy to send you whatever you need. I purchased several of my EPs/SPs through Origin and, when I had to replace my harddrive this summer, I used Origin to install everything as it was just easier. That means my "bin" is in the Origin Games folder but I'd guess that wouldn't matter to you.

EDIT: My gameplay and script files are dated 12/15 so doubt they'll be of any help for the latest "fix". Also, I found a game save from last year with the AM mod dated 4/21/14. Looks like that might be the 1.67 fix so I can just pop it in my game if I go that route.
8  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: The TS3 Store: post your questions, updates, and tech help here on: 2014 September 04, 08:49:16
Rightfully sporked? At which point did any of you do anything other than attempt to make yourselves feel better by trying to convince yourselves that you're better than the rest of us with the childish insults? I stand up to you and I'm bitter - you spout off "STFU" and you're ... what?  Pufferfish.... too busy filling up with nastiness in an attempt to appear more threatening than you are. Tsk, tsk, tsk.  As for my dots - I like them and am not intending them as anything other than separation. My choice. Much better than you and your silly acronyms - too scared to type it out?

And thanks to anyone who attempts to help others here - there's a couple of PFs on here that can't read, I guess. After all, the title of this forum is "Post reply ( Re: The TS3 Store: post your questions, updates, and tech help here )"
9  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: The TS3 Store: post your questions, updates, and tech help here on: 2014 September 01, 04:34:12
...that the item might be protected (as in a Store item)...

This wasn't enough to tip you off as to what the problem might be? You've failed to mention a vital step in this process. PEBKAC

Well....you lovely little piece of generosity and helpfulness.... the reason I asked was because this hasn't been the case until lately! I see packages offered on this site and would like to know how they are being extracted if the files are protected because, if they are protected on my end, they'll be protected for everyone. Additionally, as I said, single packs aren't returning this message, only packs with multiple items. So....considering that my IQ is probably greater than yours and there is NOT a problem with me, as you so kindly accused...it is a fair question and deserves better, even from the likes of you.

So, other than those with nothing to offer but examples of their own "puff"iness, anyone else who has been extracting files using Delphy's installer, are you having the same trouble? I've also posted over at Delphy but many modders aren't supporting their programs any more.
10  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: The TS3 Store: post your questions, updates, and tech help here on: 2014 August 20, 19:34:31
For about 6 months, I've not been able to successfully extract multi-item Sims3packs from the Store. It appears to extract but, if you click on one of the files (obviously unnamed) and open in S3pe, I get a message about a missing identifier and that the item might be protected (as in a Store item). Extractor hasn't been updated in years - S3PE has. Please note that single-item Sims3packs will extract just fine. So, if EA is putting a protection on the packs now, wouldn't they put that protection on ALL items? Additionally, this also happens with the free Store packs, i.e. the Valentine's Day set.

Is anyone else having this trouble? Is this a store issue or should I pursue this with S3pe?

EDIT:  For kicks, I went into my DCBackup file and tried to open some of those package files and while I was able to open some, others gave me the exact same message I got with the extractor. I can't imagine EA borking their own files or why bother with DCBackup (although EA does all kinds of things I don't get!) so I'm wondering if it isn't a S3PE issue with reading extracted files (BTW, I've redownloaded reinstalled S3PE multiple times). I'll check on that site but thought I should put it out there since so many people here are extracting files. Maybe someone knows a way around this?
11  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod for Sims 3 1.63 on: 2014 January 30, 20:44:41
Silly little Jezzer - I see you still don't have anything better to do.

As for why I was asking and why maybe you guys need to take things down a notch before jumping in with your egos or boredom or insanity or whatever you seem to think I'm interesetd in....

I downloaded a few of the Twallan mods on 1/27 but they weren't all updated and AM expired ON 1/27. I know there has been a time in the past when Pescado extended the older version of AM because of some issues I don't remember but probably along this same line so I thought to ask. Just ask. It was reasonable to do so, something you guys don't have even a passing knowledge of. I see that, as of my earlier visit today to Twallan, the mods are updated - and NOT the same version they were on the 27th. So YES, now they are fine. As of the evening of the 27th when AM was expiring, they were not.

I'll give you DAs a pass if a truly stupid question is asked simply because I sincerely think you can't help yourselves. My question, however, as well as many of the questions asked on these forums, aren't stupid and deserve more attention and respect than some of you are capable of. Here's a random idea - think TWICE before expelling your mental and verbal diarrhea. GTBMANY.
12  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod for Sims 3 1.63 on: 2014 January 30, 06:20:14
First of all, I'd checked a couple of days before and only a couple had been updated to 1.67 and most of the others were not clear even for 1.66. This was before I'd seen the message regarding Twallan leaving and, since I don't make it my life to lurk and troll the S3 world like some....ahem... and I didn't see anything definitive about what was being done or by whom, and with AM expiring, I thought to buy some time in case Twallan decided not to finish up and others would (hopefully) step in.

So, Jezzer, thanks for your VERY helpful comment. I love when you guys take the time to give us normals so much attention. Obviously nothing better to do. At least Wizard gave me an answer, even with the silly little closer that was meant to make him feel big and me small but just made me feel a little sad and very thankful.

Toodles...
13  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod for Sims 3 1.63 on: 2014 January 28, 18:50:48
Is it possible to get an extension on the 1.63 AM? I ask because (a) Twallan quit updating with 1.63 and I like my game better with Nraas & AM ( although I understand that some of the mods are being "picked up" by the Nraas community), and (b) I don't have Into The Future installed yet so updating to 1.66 in light of the Twallan mods situation isn't that necessary for me. At some point I will likely get Into The Future but that's a bit "into the future" and will hopefully be enough time for Twallan's cohorts to make whatever changes are necessary.

Thx!
14  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Fix for Fence of Farmington? on: 2013 March 24, 17:37:42
Don't know why I didn't notice this before but now it's really bugging me! I'm trying to find someone willing to fix this EA fence. MTS says they don't take requests-odd, since it's a request for a fix. I know there are people here who post corrections so am hopeful.

EA messed up the channels on this fence-big surprise! It has 3 channels: 1 for the iron railing, 1 for the fence base and 2 sides of the post, and 1 for the other 2 sides of the post, the caps and the rail between the iron and the base. WRONG! The biggest problem with this is that the posts don't rotate when the fence is placed at an angle to the front of the lot.

What would be ideal is if someone could either fix it so all 4 sides of the post recolor with either the base fence of the rail between the iron and the base OR, even better, if someone could create a 4th channel and apply the 4 sides of the post to this channel.

If this isn't the right place for this, please let me know-or if you have any suggestions on who might be willing to tackle it. Thx!
15  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Anach's Sims 3 Mods - Updated 12th January 2013 (1.47) on: 2013 March 17, 08:37:15
I know that EA is a huge pain with the constant patching - am curious as to whether or not you'll be updating for 1.50 or if you are, in fact, waiting for the next patch. I use several of your mods and will hate not having them in the game but I don't want to deal with trying to figure out what does and doesn't work. After an HD crash (with little saved-oops!), I'm still trying to get my downloads back so I'm still going through everything with the Pets patch. Yeah....way behind and too tired to tackle much else just now!  Tongue   Will keep checking back and hope to put them in soon. Boy, I miss the days when EA waited a much longer time between EPs!
16  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Decrapify ...was Re: Kitchen Counter Corners/Islands on: 2012 September 28, 03:59:50
Okay, another go at answers...! I know it seems obvious to many of you but my journeys through threads here and elsewhere aren't as complete as I need - after a HD crash with little saving (oops), I'm a little gun-shy of trial and error and I've spent so much time trying to rebuild my CC, I'm just wanting to get back to playing - some clarification for moving forward would be helpful.

Mostly yes or no answers....unless further clarification is needed ... thanks in advance.

1. Decrap Saved games (2 .package files in each folder), .nhd, .dbc, .sim, .sims3pack and .package files. Correct? Additionally, does it mean all of these extensions in the ENTIRE Doc/Electronic Arts file? Any other locations?

2. Installed free Store items, purchased Pirate set, etc. If I decrapify the DCBackup file (do I?), are these taken care of so that I don't need to uninstall/reinstall? As of now, purchased Barnacle Bay is a .world file, as I've not played it. Is it best if I uninstall, decrapify, reinstall?

3. New EPs/SPs - what comes with it that needs to be decrapified?
17  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Kitchen Counter Corners/Islands on: 2012 August 26, 05:15:43
Okay, I see that the "decrapify" action might fix the corners (assuming islands too). Since I've worked with s3pe and Multi-Extractor in the past to get my stuff into package files AND larger fewer files, I've a pretty good grasp of that part of it. I do, however, have a couple of questions on Decrapify.

Decrap Saved games, .nhd, .dbc, .sim, sims3pack and package files.

    - I have the free Store Items installed through the Launcher as well as Barnacle Bay, Pirate set, etc. I'm guessing that decrapifying the .dbc file takes care of those and I don't need to uninstall, decrap, reinstall?

    - There are A LOT of .package files peppered throughout the EA folder, including Collections, ContentPatch, Library, etc. Do I need to decrapify these, too? Or do I just worry about Mods packages? Also, I've got a few .sims3pack files in Exports as a sort of "save" - guessing I should remove those once I've "decrapified."

    - When I add new CC to my decrapped game, I don't have to decrap anything but the new stuff, right? I know I can decrap Saved games over and over but I shouldn't have to just because I'm adding. Right?

    - When I add new EPs, I should decrap THAT saved game, as well as the .nhd & .dbc file? Anything else?

Thx all!
18  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Kitchen Counter Corners/Islands on: 2012 August 25, 23:49:52
Don't recall when the counters got screwed up by EA but the counters corrupt and become non-recolorable when placing a corner and, when placing 2 or more islands, each end will corrupt and become non-recolorable. I'm rebuilding from a HD crash where I lost most everything - can't remember if I had a fix before but I don't think so. I've Google'd and checked several sites for a fix and can't find anything. If anyone knows where there is one, it would be greatly appreciated. Oddly, I like kitchen islands and tend to also use corners in my kitchens! Smiley

I don't have any "store" counters, just CC. Also have AM and Master Controller, just as an FYI. I'm installed through Pets and patched through 1.36.
19  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod is, well, Awesome - New Version & Install on: 2011 June 21, 23:39:08
Do you feel better now? I'm tired of trying to get help and getting the curses and bad attitude. If you only put as much effort into helping as you do in showing yourselves to be small and having such fragile egos that you need to put others down, problems would be resolved much more quickly!

However, since I don't define myself by your tirades, I'd already patched my game (since the 1.19 patch screwed up my game for 2 months I was understandably reluctant to do this) and now the game won't load. Loads without AM - just sits on the load screen running tips with AM installed. I checked the "bug" thread but the wizard was his usual unhelpful, foul-mouthed self with an individual with a similar problem. I didn't use the updater - didn't know what it was until I read that thread but it doesn't seem as though it is necessary. I just updated AM the way I've always done, including running a new aweconf...

Now I'll run over to the bug thread and see if someone HELPFUL can assist me!

When I installed a couple of new houses today, I got the message that awesomemod needed to be updated. I did. I went back in to install and got the message that

"It looks like you have installed an unofficial game modification that does not match your current version of The Sims 3. We recomment that you either uninstall these game modifications or get updated versions of them - otherwise you may experience crashes or significant bugs."

I've version 6.2.4 as I've yet to install Outdoor Living and I don't have Generations. Am I being required to install the new patch anyway? Considering the issues I've had with patches in the past, I am hoping to keep awesomemod AND my current patches. I've been using awesomemod for quite some time and I don't remember having this issue before but, since my headache was the 1.19 patch, perhaps I'd been updating patches before that mod and it not making much of an impression on me (considering the huge number of patches, thank you EA!).

Installed awesomemod 6/15/11...

Thanks for your help,
21  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Game won't load on: 2010 September 01, 05:32:11
Nope, it isn't on the thread I downloaded AM from. I did eventually find a thread that DID give a link to the aweconfig site to generate the package file.

For those of you who so ENJOY calling us tards and idiots and all sorts of lovely names because we are looking for help, finding answers isn't as easy as you deem it to be. There are any number of ways you can word your search and just as many times will come up with completely different results. Don't assume that we've NOT spent hours going through the forums (on several sites) or Googling until our fingers bleed. Don't assume that typing in a reasonable phrase will magically give us exactly the thread we need. Don't assume that your insults and coarse language will send us scurrying in fear and set us on the straight and narrow path because most of us truly have done the footwork and still come up empty-handed.

So, no thank you Tever for your unwillingness to help and be sure YOU get your facts straight before dealing out the sarcasm.

You know the subject line, you know what the OP is asking, yet you can't help yourselves from getting involved....much like sticking your finger into an electrical socket. i think it's pretty clear WHO the idiot is!  Grin

Again, since you so obviously lack the desire to truly help someone, why aren't you doing something better with your time?

I know what it meens (sic) - you are projecting your own feelings of idiocy and entitlement on to those of us requesting help.

You just make me laugh - like I said, there is obviously something going on that drives you to read threads that you know are requests for help when you have no intention of helping. You NEED to belittle others so you don't feel so small. If you don't want to answer questions, DON'T. MEANness isn't a requirement. Seriously, find something better to do with your time....all this does is prove your irrelevance.

25  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Changing Settings on: 2010 September 01, 04:28:54
I've been looking for this too! So glad to find it.

I also want to say that it was very refreshing to see you guys wanting to help AND doing it without calling anyone an idiot. While searching through the forums, I've found that it is not generally the case. Can't really understand why, if someone feels helping others is below them, they then actively pursue threads where assistance is requested!   Tongue
