That is the old way, which still does work, or at least did, maybe. Try doing it the post-Ambitions way and see if that fixes things. Generations may have broken the old way. Besides the new way is a lot easier and simpler.
I am puzzled now what is the post-ambitions way? I haven't seen anything on that or can you send me the link to it? There is a thread in the AM section of this forum that has a thread in it called HOW TO INSTALL THE FRAMEWORK AND AWESOMEMOD. Have a go at reading that,it might help you.

Are you using an old save or starting fresh with a new neighborhood? If you save a game with certain mods and reload that save after taking out the mods, it can lead to weird behavior, problems, and increased chance of BFBVFS.
I got the same prompt when I took out AM before I installed generations. I had to re-install generations to get rid of it. FYI- I started a new game when I installed generations. Edit to add, that I still get this prompt because I have imaginary doll mod and super speedy skills books V9 installed. I assume that is why I get the unofficial game modifications prompt?

Has anyone else had issues with elevators? I threw a bachelorette party at one of the lounges and the elevator ended up freezing on the ground floor, so bouncers, mixologists, and party guests couldn't get up/downstairs. My Sim was in a club that closed at 4am, he didn't get in the lift quickly enough (the club was busy) before the club closed and the elevators were switched off. My Sim and a few others were stuck in the club with no way to get out, this is such slack programming it is amateur. CTRL+shift testingcheatsenabled true>Go into town view>Click on your sims house>Right click and teleport here.

Before this new patch I had the late night trash chute and mailbox, from MTS website.
Now after the patch the mailbox wont show up in the buydebug mode section,I have also reinstalled late night without the new patch and downloaded the mod from MTS,but still the mailbox wont show up.
I got that mod as well and removed it when I patched. I thought that the patch would fix the issue, but couldn't find the community mailbox when building new apartments (though the pre-patch apartments I had built still retained the mailboxes I had placed in them even without the mod loaded). So, I put HugeLunatic's mod back in my packages folder and find the community mailbox in the buydebug "?" section. Maybe you just overlooked it? Otherwise, just clear caches and try again because sometimes voodoo and EA are just unpredictable. I did take the mod out, also I had to do a clean install of the sims 3 and late night before I could patch my game with the new patch, and then I put the mod back in and now it just wont work. I have looked in the debug "?" section, but there is no mailbox in there, the trash one is there though,so I think that my game has the new patch, even though it still says that there is a new patch for my game. (After I installed late night I didn't let the launcher update,so I don't know how it managed to update without my say so.) I also don't have any apartments that were made by me in my game,as I always delete them as I don't think they are that good. Anyway, thank you for the reply, and the suggestions. I will give it a try and see if it helps.

Anyone know of a mod that gives more lot size options under the world editor? I wanted to put some lots from LN into the other neighborhoods like the already made dive bar and some of the penthouses, but they are all odd sizes that don't fit properly on what is available. For example Eugi's Local Watering Hole is 40x44... Just look for more options for lot sizes to place.

NPC's have moved into my (completely) custom apartment no problem. Although, I have totally restricted/turned off story progression, made sure that every house that isn't occupied did NOT have a bed/refrigerator (which means NPC's cannot move into those homes) and so, most all NPC's have flooded the apartment complexes (Seriously, like 20 of them are jammed up in 2 technical rooms, the same thing with the other two pre-made apartments in my neighborhood.)
So, what you might want to do is check other houses in your neighborhood and make sure NPC's can't move in there. I had placed the apartments after playing the neighborhood, though I did do a "killallhumans" which probably caused the game to generate new NPC's who then decided to live there. There are other commands like that using Awesomemod like "Rapture" and whatnot, after setting your preferred families as sacred. That would force the game to generate new NPC's as well. Of course, do all these with caution, back up your save yadda yadda...
I had the same problem with the butler. I had made my own apartments and called to get a butler and 20 of them showed up and stood in front of the elevators all day.

I built my own apartments and changed the colour of the lights in the elevators, and now when I play all the lights are blue.
I have tried changing the lights in the elevators back, but it wont let me. I might have to delete the pre made ones in game and place my own to see if that fixes it.

Have you tried searching the site? The thread is called Building Your Own Apartments: Late Night. Have a read through that, you might just find what you are after.
My bad. I mostly just read trouble-shooting stuff, and skip the strategies forum altogether. No problem. Sometimes it takes a while to get to what you want in some threads,as people tend to post about other problems they have.

Any progress on making the building shells and apartment mailboxes buyable?
As for the truck - the theory with the magic city icon could only be proven if somebody made a custom city type neighborhood. I'm sick of CAW throwing up on me with its bugginess, so I'm not volunteering here.

When my sim has other sims over, they like to stand in her apartment and piss themselves. I have a quick question. When your sim has a butler,is he meant to be cleaning the apartment? The one my sim has just sits on his fat ass all day drinking coffee.
