When I unzip the Sunlit Tides download with JZip I keep getting this prompt. Incorrect command line parameters. But it still extracts the files. Could this be why it wont install with the launcher?
Files can get corrupted during download. You could always try downloading the file again. I see you uninstalled everything. Did you try with a vanilla game as I suggested? I usually try everything before I do a complete re-install. Yes,I did try downloading the files again with the vanilla game but it just didn't work. I did find another website that had the world for download and that has worked. Thank you for all the help. |

Trying to install the untouched version through the launcher,I have even tried decrapping it and trying that but it still says that I need to update my game. Base game version 1.36.45.017002 version 14.0.48.017001. Someone said to try updating origin,I did that but it still wont install.
I just installed it and I haven't updated Origins for a while now. I haven't launched the game yet though so there still could be surprises awaiting me. I was told to update adobe flash player and adobe air,as they are both needed for origins to work. The launcher won't even install it now. |

I arr'd a copy of Pets, installed and cracked it, but now am considering also getting Late Night. When I download it, do I install the crack again (replacing the old files in C:/Program Files/Electronic Arts/Sims 3/Game/Bin), or just leave it be, since Pets is a later version than LN?
Basically, do you crack earlier versions of expansion and stuff packs if you download them later?
Why have a cracked game when you can download AM and play the game that way. |

I was trying to do something really dumb, and that is using the patch DOWNLOADER to INSTALL the patch. I am officially retarded.
But I've looked at the patch log, and the supposedly invalid file found is a "code_version" text file, which I have not touched. Ever. So the patch is doing something really dumb too.
And that superpatch thing sucks too, my Internet connection is horribly slow. I downloaded the patch once with Origin (which is crap, but I had to use it), but never actually opened it (another stupid thing that I've done). I know you'll kill me for asking this, but is it even located somewhere? I can't find it in my installation directory. If that's the only thing I can do, then I'll just stick with having it download for 10 hours straight, like I did last time. *sigh*
That's a lot of stupid for one person,but yet you seem to like to keep posting stupid question after stupid question. There is a bit on the patch installer that says in bold downloaded updates and it has the path were they go. |

What patch tool are you talking about? If you mean the Sims 3 Patch Downloader, how do I INSTALL a patch? Because it downloads them, but I don't see the install option. Or am I blind? Please excuse me for being so stupid.
Tick the box at the bottom right that says automatic install. We are talking about the one that you can find on mod the sims website. I saw that. I meant if there was no way to update with that without downloading the patch. It's a tool for downloading the patches. It has no other function than that. Unless I am missing something? Can anyone install the PC version of the patch yet? I tried, getting that lovely 'no file found' error.
Using the patch tool from MTS works. I have tried the MTS tool and it doesn't work... PEBKAC I have also tried installing with the launcher and that didn't work either. Update error: Invalid file found.
Then somewhere somehow there is an invalid file somewhere. Using a crack are we? Used one of those world fix mods from MTS? I did have a crack installed,but I have AM test version installed. To be honest,I don't have a clue what a world fix mod is,let alone heard of it before now. I think I will uninstall and not use any cracks,just AM. Thanks for the heads up. |

I have the new patch installed.
It's nice to see they didn't stray too far from fucking the game up with every new patch. I now don't have any empty lot templates,I can't build or place objects,my wall tool is only half there! Whenever I load a house that I have made it keeps trying to load the lot even though it is there. I also can't zoom in or out.
Time to throw this game in the bin and stick with TS2.

Edit: Downloaded the patch tool,and have three updates to install. Why does the launcher sometimes miss patches?
The short answer: the launcher is a badly-coded piece of crap, and EA should feel bad. I know nothing about the workings of the launcher. Installing the patches the launcher missed didn't help. I might just un install it all and start again. |

I still can't get any of the CC that I downloaded from here to work in game.
I have tried the fix that was posted from TSR,I have also tried decrapping everything and installing it through putting it right into the download floder,without the launcher install,though the CC does show up in the launcher as not installed,then when I try and install it through the launcher it tells me that I have to update even though I have it patched up to date. I have also un installed the sims 3 and the packs that I have also I have downloaded the CC again with the same results as above.
The only CC that works in game is the store stuff I bought.
Are you patching manually or through the launcher? The launcher sometimes (read, "often") misses patches when it updates. I recommend using the MTS patch tool instead. I patch the game through the launcher,I'll download the patch tool and see if that helps. Thanks. Edit: Downloaded the patch tool,and have three updates to install.
