I keep getting these "attribute number out of range" errors on apartment lots with only the AL director's cut as hacks. Anyone know what this is about?
This is some kind of test-tree issue with beds. I have no hacks pertaining to bed relaxation, so once again, I point the blame squarely at tight pants.

Thanks for pointing in the right direction. It wasn't a hack issue but a borked new custom bed.

Yep, I removed the 2nd floor roof and added a new (auto) roof to the 3rd. Would it technically be enough to make sure there are no other doors than apartment doors from apartments to the outside?

edit: nevermind, it's working now, after I fiddled with the doors quite a bit (finally deleting and replacing them all seemed to help for some reason).

yes, those with the doormat.

So has anyone figured out what criteria lots actually have to fulfill to be able to work as apartment lots? I hate that the game just says "revert to residential mode to correct" blabla, but it doesn't say what to correct. I had a row house (three adjacent apartments) being turned into an apartment lot just fine with the right doors, but when I added a third story to it it won't let me convert this time. grah.

What seems to help, at least temporarily, is resetting their aspiration/turn ons&offs.
7  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sound options greyed out on: 2008 February 12, 15:53:30
Yep it was the XP updates that borked something. Thanks for the help! Only now the sound works and everything seems normal except that there's something wrong with the uni related icons, wants and fears.  Undecided They seem to be missing entirely, see picture: http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/6797/borkedunimr9.jpg

Would it help to replace the uni objects.package or do I have to reinstall?
8  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sound options greyed out on: 2008 February 09, 10:07:21
Now I've narrowed down to the pets patch. The sound works up to pets, but not with the patch installed.

I don't really feel well about uninstalling xp security updates but I'll give it a try.

EDIT: I uninstalled all windows updates visible from add/remove programs, and now it works up to seasons+patch, but in BV there's still no sound. aargh.

EDIT2: I fiddled some more quite randomly and now it all works again. Phew. Stupid Microsoft, stupid EAxis.
9  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sound options greyed out on: 2008 February 09, 09:32:36
Ok this is really weird. I uninstalled everything, reinstalled The Sims 2, checked, sound works. Then installed EPs 1-6 without checking in between. Loaded BV with the default settings and neighbourhoods. No sound.

The game worked fine 2 weeks ago, I had not made any changes in quite a while. Then I was away for a week, during which my boyfriend used the PC for surfing on the net but claims not to have changed any settings. He did however install some XP updates, but those shouldn't really break anything?

 Huh
10  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sound options greyed out on: 2008 February 08, 12:23:24
I have rebooted the PC and the game at least 5 times, but nothing changes. It's starting to annoy me. I miss my simmies Sad
11  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sound options greyed out on: 2008 February 06, 17:21:10
It's just the Sims, everything else seems to work fine. I'm listening to music through the PC right now. Other games have sound, too.

I checked and reinstalled sound card drivers, don't know about DirectSound but will check that as well.
12  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Sound options greyed out on: 2008 February 06, 15:20:51
I tried to play the sims again after an about 1,5 weeks' break, and suddenly the audio options are greyed out and the game has no sound at all.

There seems to be no problem with the sound card itself or the speakers, since the sound works fine in other applications. I tried reinstalling the drivers as well.

Can anyone help?

I'm loving how sims can overheat and explode from jumping on a bed, yet their body temperature won't rise a bit when they are in the sauna  Roll Eyes

Then again, it's probably an American (or Swedish) sauna, which rarely heats above 37 C anyways  Tongue
14  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: The Compressorizer! Mass DBPF Compressing Program on: 2007 May 27, 18:40:25
sorry Wink for some reason I got the recursive to work now, although I didn't do anything differently.

It seems to compress objects to less than half of the original size, hair and clothes not that much. I can't wait to test my loading times.

the funds will change for the family that is currently selected
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Ok... Whyyyy does my dog, have no head?.. or tail? on: 2007 May 02, 07:34:13
I have had dogs without bodies, just with heads and tails. Changing appearance in the mirror fixes it, at least for some time.
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Moving sims from one neighbourhood to another on: 2007 March 17, 07:15:21
(I tried searching but didn't find anything very useful.)

So is it bad to move sims with a lot from one neighbourhood to another?
And if it's bad, will it screw up both neighbourhoods or just the one the sims are moved to?
18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Odd things I noticed about Seasons on: 2007 March 11, 08:17:15
well, I have Inge's toddlers sleep till 6 patch, so my toddlers are REALLY easy to take care of now. Wake up in the morning, feed them 2 smart milks a day, train if needed, put them to bed in the evening. No getting them into and out of the crib during the day.

And I quite like it now that the babies are harder to take care of, makes it more realistic.
19  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Yet another (different) Seasons crash on: 2007 March 10, 03:10:38
thanks, I'll try that. So I have to invite over the whole household with the phone? Individual members have visited my other lots already.
20  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Yet another (different) Seasons crash on: 2007 March 10, 01:38:10
I guess that's possible.. I almost never use them since they are dangerous and annoying, but I did have one sim have one just to test it. He lives on one of the borked lots. About the other lot I don't think there are cellphones, but I can't be sure.

I searched the forum and found guidance to remove autoyak/phonehack and try loading the lot with a cellphonerst.package installed, none of which worked.
21  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Yet another (different) Seasons crash on: 2007 March 06, 09:09:32
I've been playing Seasons without problems for almost a week now, switching between 4-5 families.

Now I wanted to play some of the other families I haven't played since installing. The lot starts to load, then loads for a long time, and suddenly the game just terminates itself. No error messages, no "application has crashed" -messages, nothing. What the heck can this be?

Taking out the downloads folder didn't help.
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Seasons: What mods are you already begging for? on: 2007 March 02, 06:46:42
Another mod I've been wanting actually since the EP was announced is changing the sunrise/sunset times. Where I live, it's only light from about 9 am to 3 pm in winter, and in summer the sun doesn't set until 11 pm or so. So I find the darkness of the Sims summer quite depressing. It should be light much longer during summer than during winter.

I have no idea if it can be done or not, but I would love it anyway.
23  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Odd things I noticed about Seasons on: 2007 March 01, 10:29:02
In my game, something seems to be wrong with babies and toddlers. The babies are almost constantly crying, even when they just have been fed, changed and bathed and put into their crib, they still cry and don't stop until they are cuddled, then start again when they are left alone. Okay, I have to play without most of the baby hacks I'm used to, but I don't remember babies crying without a reason before.

With the toddlers, it seems that they are not getting tired as fast as they should, they have the same sleep rhythm as other sims. They wake up in the morning and can stay awake until late in the evening.

I wonder if anyone else has noticed these or if I should take a second look at the hacks I left in..
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Seasons: What mods are you already begging for? on: 2007 March 01, 07:10:38
I've been playing for 2 hours and I desperately need a no autonomous water balloons hack.
25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / side-effect of pets on: 2006 December 10, 16:43:54
I keep wanting to click on my sims when they do something smart or stupid again and praise or scold them Cheesy
Like praise for actually using the toilet or scold for yelling at me without a reason for the millionth time.

If only you could train your sims as you can train their pets Wink
