51  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Stupid Sims 3 patch on: 2010 July 09, 16:12:35
Has anyone here patched and managed to get CAW to work?  I know the forum at TheSims3 is full of people who say it hasn't worked, but I'm not convicted it isn't just user error.  That place is full of whiny 6's and 12's who can't even tie their shoes.  I thought I'd give it a shot myself, but I'm curious if anyone here has also tried.

Warning Goddess. Persons have said that CAW still fails to function properly.

Yes, I'm glad I thought to read the forum before doing anything… Well the Champagne is already open; might as well get drunk!

The patch = "It's a trap!"
53  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Ambitions: What's borked on: 2010 July 08, 18:08:59
The update has arrived. What a list of borked crap that they are fixing...notice that the list does not specifically include a fix for the inability to dig at foreign digsites - but says it fixes some invention that in some way may be related, so wonder if that's it?  Don't know. Won't be installing the patch until Pescado has an update for AM for it.

It's about time!  I've been having CAW withdrawals something fierce.  Normally I'd wait until AM updates as well, but I think I'll just remove AM for a bit and get right to adding Ambitions lots to my world.
First the champagne!

Have you tried hitting it with a hammer?

Sorry for sounding stupid, but my dictionary just died on me trying to find the meaning of granularity failure and its possible implicit or connotative aspects. Care to explain?

You're kidding me right?  You choose this forum of all places to fill in the blanks of your search fail.  The internet has tons of dictionaries at your disposal and you choose to ask that here?

I'm just going to sit back and watch.
56  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Lost Snake Charming Basket on: 2010 June 30, 19:51:47
I believe if you go to edit a lot that a sim has left something on; it pops in to their family inventory.  Just go to edit each of the places she has visited since you last saw it.  You don't have to do any actual editing, and then check the family inventory.
57  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Sims starving to death on: 2010 June 30, 19:02:33
Do you have a recommended population amount or is it more subjective to the type of computer you are running the game on?
Depends on your computer. My computer is Awesome, so I never see this.

This is good news, I've added 3 neighborhoods to my world and was worried after hearing all the complaints.  I will allow my little Sims to continue to spawn like mad and fill my town.
58  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Sims starving to death on: 2010 June 30, 14:40:10
Sim death issues are caused by essentially overloading your game with more people than it can support, resulting in greater and greater lags between when they are processed. After a certain point, sims can go so long between action cycles that they can no longer do enough to keep themselves alive.

Do you have a recommended population amount or is it more subjective to the type of computer you are running the game on?
59  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Disable "Cook anything anytime" on: 2010 June 30, 13:42:31
Hi, would it be possible to disable the function that allows you to cook dinner at breakfast time and vice versa?
I have been searching the forum and aweconf file with no luck.

I can't believe how silly this sounds.  My freezer has roast in it in the morning and eggs in it in the evening.  That doesn't mean I will cook up a roast beef for breakfast, or an omelet for dinner, but it is nice to know that it is not against the law to.  If you don't want spaghetti for supper, don't select it.  You are one of those people who get angry when your co-workers have cereal for lunch, aren't you?
60  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Creepy Doll in ur files messin with ur Sims3Packs on: 2010 June 25, 05:03:28
Posibly a stupid question- If I do not see the doll as a buyable item in game and I did a search on 0x038a68fe04da61a6aa65f939d77fbc37.package in my DCBackup folder and it is not found, it is safe to say I do not have this in my game?

Check under the bed.
61  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: House Hoppers on: 2010 June 24, 15:30:58
Tell me what to do to fix this rubbish happening in game. I have had several families created and moved into the hood over the past sim week.
I think the Role Engine is spawning them to fill in the cashiers and other crap for your NOT-RABBITHOLE-ANYMORE places like the Consignment Store and other crap. THIS IS THE PRICE YOU PAY FOR COMPLAINING ABOUT RABBITHOLES, PEASANTS. ENJOY YOUR CRAPPY VANILLA PUDDINGS.

It helps if you populate your town with several households of unemployed Sims, specifically for these roles.  I tested this extensively when I created my world with a liquor store, book store, and market.  The game will grab your unemployed Sims to fill these roles.  Now with the fire station, consignment store and salon, also needing to be filled with workers the need for more unemployed Sims is greater.  I added the new households before adding the new buildings and have had no EA creations spawning.

There isn't a mailbox in buydebug, but yes you can get one from, TSR.

63  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Ambitions: What's borked on: 2010 June 24, 02:07:12

A borkage I've noticed is that meteor strikes break the mailbox.  I had a meteor land in my sim's front yard and the mailbox on that lot can no longer be checked manually.  It can be checked by AM's sell/refine macro, so if one of the sims in the household hits level 10 in a skill, I send a sim out to collect some gems & rocks until they have something worth cutting or smelting.  Then I run the sell/refine macro to collect the mail from the borked mailbox.

I would just move my Sims to a new house.  Then I'd bulldoze the house and set it back down again.  If it is a house that came with the town rather than downloaded one, you can package up a fresh one by opening a new town.  I save all of the houses I make to the bin before moving any Sims in.  If you are worried about paintings and stuff the family has accumulated, it can all be put in the family inventory.  After the new house is set, you can move right back in.  This does not take in account the depreciation of the old house but it is an option.
64  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Ambitions: What's borked on: 2010 June 24, 01:01:20
Here is a strange one.  I never noticed this before Ambitions.  Maybe someone else has, but this is a first for me.  The ghosts in my graveyard are driving around in NPC Motor Pool cars at night.  They are hopping out of their graves, walking to the road, snapping their fingers for a car, getting in and going for joy rides while the town sleeps.  I guess I should send my ghost buster after them.
65  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Create-A-World Tips, Tricks, and Annoyances on: 2010 June 23, 20:23:04
I had planned on looking into that to add to my Fargo update.  Until EA fixes CAW I can't poke around and see if there is an option that allows for it.  The guide doesn't have anything about it.

Did you combine the world files too, because you shouldn't?  If you did, you should start over and possibly re-install.
67  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The Neverending Pause on: 2010 June 23, 16:58:49
It couldn't hurt.  I'll try it at night so none of my Sims leave work early.

Edit:  It didn't help.  Fixall and Resetworld did not have any noticeable effect.
68  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Latest Patch version, without Ambitions problems loading and more on: 2010 June 23, 15:58:43
I believe Pescado mentioned that sometimes when you load a save for the first time, it takes forever.

In any case, you might wanna post the specs of your computer. I've just installed the new patch and it did take quite a fair amount of time to load the save for the first time and that's even when my computer is pretty good.

I did see that it was mentioned the first load might take forever.  However, it is taking 45+ minutes to load every single time.  As far as specs go:  I am running XP pro, 2GB of RAM, GeForce 9800GT video card with 1 GB of RAM.  Does that help?

Do you have a massive amount of CC?  Perhaps you should try compressing your CC.

Nobody's mentioned the phenomenon I'm seeing, so I'm thinking it may be a case of 'that's a personal problem, soldier'.

Any sim I'm not actively playing is drawn inexorably to join a 24/7 gathering outside city hall. They're collapsing with exhaustion, peeing all over the place, and the odd one or two are dying. Every now and then sims pick themselves up and head off home, but they always come back. I've a small amount of cc but the only mod I use is awesomemod.

This has been mentioned extensively in this thread.   They are gathering for a ceremony in which a hero is awarded the key to the city.

I have noticed the freezes last longer in the world I made than they do in Sunsetvalley and Twinbrook.  My husband gets them in all of the towns.  The only thing I can deduce from this is that computer specks play a large role in it.  I've never had to shut the computer down when it happens.  It always comes back after awhile.  Last night my husband had one that lasted 10 minutes.  Some of the things I do that seem to help are; clicking the pause, clicking page up or down, and zooming in or out.  They seem to help, but I can't be sure it is not just a coincidence that the game returns to normal after doing so.  My freezes don't last long enough or happen often enough to be a concern, but my husband was not pleased by his long pause.  It would be nice if we can find an answer to this and lay this issue to rest once and for all.

Hey guys,

How do you play without the disc? I tried searches with "no cd" "no disc" "ts3.exe" but I can't find anything.

Thanks for your help.

Use MotokiBoot.
72  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AWESOMEMOD 4.0.87 (AMB) TEST THREAD on: 2010 June 21, 16:38:16

I had heard as much.  The thing is, the game did spawn the co-workers, they just don't register as such in the relationship panel.  They show up for work every day and sit around playing video games and braking things.  I wasn't sure if this was the same as what I had heard mentioned before.

You said you started the game without AM, then installed AM, which means the game had already generated the co-workers.  In a fresh game at the moment AM doesn't even generate them at all, which would explain why you still have them, but they are not being recognised as co-workers.

No I didn't say that.  I said I started a brand new game as well.  Then compared what had happened in my previous game.   2 completely different games.
I couldn't take it anymore, I had to install AwesomeMod.  I started a brand new game as well.  Prior to installing, my firefighters had co-workers.  Now I have people dressed in firefighter gear, at the fire house, but when I talk to them, they do not appear as co-workers in the relationship panel.  They tell me they are soot stripper, and hose handlers, but still appear as acquaintances.  I could care less about this problem as firefighting co-workers are useless mess-makers, but I thought I'd point it out anyway.

The game spawned firefighters, but they do not show as co-workers, in my relationship panel only.

This might tie in with this person's problem as well…

Did you simply disable ASM or did you disable story mode in the in-game options panel?

I use awesomeconfig. Awesomemod storymode is enabled. Ingame, I have it set it to disable. Never had a problem with it before. The ingame button seemed to disable both awesomemod storymode as well as EAxis storymode. (except for the period after the game was launched when the button did nothing).

EDIT: Alright, so, the more sims *I* move in, the more sims the game movies in... and it happens immediatly upon me moving sims in. It's become a bizarre contest to capture the best realestate :s

This is just a guess, but I think the game is adding Sims to the neighborhood in order to man the cash register at the consignment store and work at the salon.  I'm wondering if this will continue to happen if you bulldoze the salon, consignment store, and fire station.  You can add them back in after you have populated your town and no longer need the game to provide them.  In one of the games I tested the expansion pack in, the jobs were populated by unemployed Sims that already lived in my town.  No EA generated Sims were added.

This is a known and identified issue with AM and firefighting.  AM prevents the spawning of the co-workers.  Pescado did mention before that he would probably look at it later after everything else gets sorted.  As they never seem to do much, it isn't really a problem, unless you need the interactions to help with promotions because the skills are already maxed.

It isn't the athletic trait triggering this.  I have a lazy, fat, couch potato that runs from the refrigerator to the stove; 2 tiles away! Another suggestion was that playing tag triggered this.  That is all well and good but this slob of a man also hates children, so I doubt that is why he runs.
