Here is a video tutorial on how to do the split level stairs in the first photo.  There are others if you search, but this one works fine.

I'm not sure what you're asking.  I use the roller on my mouse to zoom in while placing lots.  Right Click after you select lot size and then roll the wheel.  If you don't have a wheel on your mouse I guess you could click on the +, but I haven't tried that.

What I mean is, when an SC sim wants to do his/her next action after completing the before, the game was like thinking what to do (and lags) for 2 seconds and after that, the action will be queued. I'm using the latest AM if you're going to ask me.

I saw a lag similar to this in my husband's game, but only when he was playing on a rather intricate castle lot.  Between the ridiculous amount of crap on the lot, the size of the lot and the fact that the lot was full of effect foggers and triggers; his computer had a hard time keeping up.  SC seems fine when he uses it with other families.
I'd have to agree.  It sounds like the problem is computer suckage.
29  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Game freezing on: 2010 July 19, 22:43:02
The school in Twinbrook has routing issues.  Lots of people have already complained about this.  If you are playing Twinbrook you will need to save the school to the bin, bulldoze the lot and replace it.  If you are not playing Twinbrook search the forum for other freeze issues and try the suggestions listed there. Actually, search the forum either way because there really is no reason for you to be asking this question when it has been addressed by so many others before you.
The thread "Ambitions, What's Borked" has a lot of stuff pertaining to this in it.
30  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Ambitions: What's borked on: 2010 July 14, 20:52:00
I remember reading about people having trouble finding all of the poltergeists in the ghost hunter career.  Today I was playing and was having a heck of a time finding the last of 3.  I slowly scanned the lot, noticing that the woooo sounds got louder in a particular corner, but nothing was wobbling.  So I started clicking on every object I saw and found that a large hay stack needed exercising.  The stack was too large to see the wispy animations and for whatever reason it did not lift off the ground as other objects do.  I hope this helps anyone having similar problems finding the last poltergeist to exercise.  Just find where the sound seems loudest and click on every object in sight.
31  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Create-A-World Tips, Tricks, and Annoyances on: 2010 July 14, 18:28:01
Kinda slow on the uptake there, eh? The discussion was that EA made the colors wrong. Residential is green, Commercial is Blue, and it has been that way forever, but ea made Residential blue and Community yellow.

RCI. Residential, Commercial, Industrial. The little meter on all the SimCity games. Those colors are the colors used for the meter and for zoning areas.

I'm not slow on the uptake, your joke will cause confusion to the noobs.  I'm simply doing my part to keep them from crying.
32  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Create-A-World Tips, Tricks, and Annoyances on: 2010 July 14, 18:12:12
Yellow means community lot.
The people who picked those colors have NO sense of tradition. Clearly, the community lots should be BLUE and the Residential lots should be GREEN. Everyone here should know why! The color scheme dates as far back as RCI.

I knew there was a reason I always got confused in CAW. You have made it clear- I think blue = shopping.

Blue = Residential

Wah wah wah, it's not fair, bleh meh
Yawn.

You call that a comeback?  You disappoint me.  BTW thanks for the list…
34  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Ambitions "Fog emitter" can show other effects on: 2010 July 13, 19:43:30
you have lost whatever respect I had for the work you put forth compiling this list in the first place.

And? Who's bothered exactly? Me or you?

How many people are going to trust this list of yours knowing that not only has a mistake been pointed out, but that you flat out refuse to acknowledge your fail?  If I was able to find this one mistake in the 30 minutes I spent playing around with it, how many more might there be?  Your failure is bigger than you realize.
35  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Ambitions "Fog emitter" can show other effects on: 2010 July 13, 19:24:01

 If you knew that the effects were repeated due to a certain event you should have mentioned that in the list you had made;
rather than give misleading information such as the label "Plays Once" implies.  Apparently they are not in fact onetime events.

Look, it does play once. Per camera visit. Hence the "Plays once" title.

Don't tell me to "look."  Who do you think you are?  A fail on your part does not warrant rudeness when it is pointed out to you.  You failed to make it clear that the effects are repeating.  Rather than simply saying, "I hadn't realized that my information was not coming across clearly," you instead chose to act as if everyone knows that "Plays once" actually means "Plays repeatedly."

In your effort to sound superior, you simply sound asinine, and you have lost whatever respect I had for the work you put forth compiling this list in the first place.

Good thing we have chainsaws now!
37  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Ambitions "Fog emitter" can show other effects on: 2010 July 13, 16:08:58

I was playing around with the different effects that you listed and discovered that the ‘Bats from hole' is not a onetime event.  I noticed it seems to reoccur every time my sim comes home and every time I change camera view from upstairs to down stairs and vice versa.

Yeah, that's because it happens one time whenever your camera is in the proximity, rather than happening continually when you look at it. All the one-time effects do that.
If it truly did only happen once, and never again, it would be a useless effect.
Happening one time would not make it a useless effect.  All effects are triggerable and can be used much like the traps in tombs.  You wouldn't want the bats to continue to come from a sarcophagus rather than only coming when it is opened.

If you knew that the effects were repeated due to a certain event you should have mentioned that in the list you had made; rather than give misleading information such as the label "Plays Once" implies.  Apparently they are not in fact onetime events.
38  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Ambitions "Fog emitter" can show other effects on: 2010 July 13, 06:03:32
Complete permanent effects, plus some temporary ones:

I was playing around with the different effects that you listed and discovered that the ‘Bats from hole' is not a onetime event.  I noticed it seems to reoccur every time my sim comes home and every time I change camera view from upstairs to down stairs and vice versa.  I thought you might want to adjust your list accordingly.  You might want a category for event triggered animation, or something like that.
39  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2010 July 13, 01:42:46
I just don't understand this.  Why would anyone want to suck up to the boss at level 10?  Either you ARE the boss, or you are already too high on the ladder to care.  Why bother selecting the option at all.  Why is the option even there?
40  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: The new Sim 3 non-borked Create-A-World tool DIRECT LINK on: 2010 July 12, 18:35:47
i would just like to ask if its possible to edit a CC world with this?

Only if you also have the editable WORLD File and not just the downloaded world.  Most creators don't make it available because of the time and effort that goes into making a world.  We don't want edited versions of our worlds showing up all over the internet.
41  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: The new Sim 3 non-borked Create-A-World tool DIRECT LINK on: 2010 July 12, 17:47:00
Has anyone tried Edit-In-Game for the newly updated Create-A-Crap?
When zoomed out, I'm getting this strange sky object (?)- fog thingy (?) that's obstructing view of anything in the world. As you can tell I have no idea what it is, but it happens to new worlds even with nothing in it.

These particular shots are of a world I was working on, but this happens (like I said) even with new worlds with absolutely no terrain objects, spawners, terrain paints, nada. If it's just me, I'll shut up. But I'm primarily just curious if it really is just me. I've had no other real errors except this, and tried searching for a solution but considering the update is so new there wasn't much to find.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, it just seems relevant although not a particular "pudding."

I haven't had this problem.  You might try checking your settings in the options panel.  I have actually been rather pleased with the ‘edit in game' features since the patch.  They seem to work much better for me now.  I have noticed an increased strain on my graphics card and just got a new one yesterday because of it.

I've been going through my neighborhood and redecorating the houses and making over sims, but the build/buy and CAS music is starting to get on my nerves. I remember seeing a mod somewhere that disabled the music in those modes, but now I can't find it. Anyone remember who made this mod and where I can find it?

There is on MTS but they are down for maintenance right now so I can't get you the link.

Run search for STFU mods

I can't upgrade the Firetruck Horsepower, and I am not getting any firehouse coworkers. It's a lonely, slow work day. Sad

Welcome to realism.  You need a few mechanical skill points to upgrade.  You should have brought a book to work.

Is anyone else have problems using the new version?  It'll start up and let me start or load a new world, but will usually crash within 10 minutes after that.

I haven't had any problems yet.  I've been using it since last night.
46  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: The new Sim 3 non-borked Create-A-World tool DIRECT LINK on: 2010 July 10, 18:25:29
I think EA is stupid for not telling us they had an updated version of CAW.  Or maybe we are all stupid for downloading a buggy version that will crash your game, and hasn't been released yet for a reason.

They did tell us.

Warning Goddess. Persons have said that CAW still fails to function properly.

Yes, I'm glad I thought to read the forum before doing anything… Well the Champagne is already open; might as well get drunk!

The patch = "It's a trap!"

Same here. I just knew I should check here first before allowing EA to totally bork my game. I'll wait for that update until I see here that its safe to install it.

It is safe now.  If you have CAW you will have to uninstall it.  EA has released a new CAW, or fixed CAW depending on how you look at it.  Install the new version and it will work fine.  When you first turn it on you will notice huge rendering differences, and when you first go to edit in game everything will appear black for a while.  Don't let these things worry you though, it works fine.

As for how the patch and AM are doing together…  They seem to be playing nicely together, a few hiccups but nothing major or upsetting.  I'd say it is now safe to patch.

It always runs slow before you upgrade it.

EA has posted a new version of CAW.  You must uninstall the old and install the new for it to work.
50  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Stupid Sims 3 patch on: 2010 July 09, 16:29:15

Has anyone complaining of CAW being broken still actually reinstalled it? I haven't seen anyone say they have.

Not here, but yes, I have read through all the comments on TheSims3 that have come in since yesterday (Pity me) and many have tried reinstalling.  The only 2 people who said theirs are working do not have the last 2 patches.
