26  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sharing neighborhoods - Simpotence thread on: 2005 November 11, 00:42:41
It would be cool to create a neighborhood and pass it(and the downloads folder) from person to person, each person playing it for 1 day and making whatever changes/additions they wish. At the end the neighborhood could be posted for download.

That would be cool, but that'd be a hell of a lotta downloads and (unwanted) hacks being spread around.

The hacks or the neighborhood/downloads folders can be removed...no?

People disappear for me, and I have the patch. It only seems to happen when you use the "Dismiss" interaction on the gypsy. Now I buy my potion and use Inge's teleporter to clear her off the lot.

Sorry to hear it. Have you tried using a data recovery program like GetDataBack?

http://www.runtime.org/products.htm

It will recover your files even if your master table is fubar...probably will suck up the better part of a day to get everything out. Works great in my experience.

PS-you'll need a different harddrive to move your data to

Just a shot in the dark as this is one of the few malodies I haven't been tormented by...so far Roll Eyes, but I wonder if changing aspiration using the Maxis senso orb might kickstart it.

This is very interesting...I've been opening the Geometric Data Container in a similar manner to fix sims that get disfigured(ie: Crimplip) by SimPe's Surgery plugin, though I use clean Installer to identify the character file. Apparently Sim Surgery is corrupting the GDC in some cases.

Not being a coder myself, I will need to look at what you've done indepth to understand it Roll Eyes. I am curious as to whether you think it would be possible to build a morphing mod for sims faces similar to the sliders used in bodyshop for faces/facial features?. Something that is fairly user friendly that would allow you to morph 2 sims that you have either created or downloaded. It would be fantastic if you could manipulate the features of a child by morphing the the individual characteristics of the parents. Being hideously repulsive myself, I prefer to surround myself with beautiful female sims in my dark seclusion.

This is something I've wanted for a long time and never mentioned because I doubted that it was possible... Huh

I've had sims where the head turned into a blue polygon...if the plastic surgery object doesn't fix it I use Simpe's Sim surgery plugin. You need to have a stored copy of the sim prior the disfiguration to do this(a saved neighborhood or a Sims2pack/package file). Annnd you may get a crimplipped sim from the surgery, although this is fixable if you know how Roll Eyes

Nah...I meant IE, coz it's coded directly into the operating system.  AOL is just as bad, I'm sure.

I can't recall getting a virus since I installed Firefox, or a hijacked browser...and I don't even have or want SP2.

The graphics card would affect the running of the game itself, but I can't see how that would affect boot-up!

Because windows doesn't run off legacy drivers if graphic card drivers are installed.

Could be your graphics card as you said...I had the same experience. Try booting in safe mode and then disabling your display adapter in the device manager. If you can boot normally after this, the problem is with your card. I would try reseating the card and check the connections on your hard drive and plugin connections on the motherboard. If that doesn't resolve it, try a new graphics card.

Try control+foundation tool(same as the delete foundation function) and drag to desired size, then release the mouse and control key and left click. If it doesn't work the 1st time try dragging from a different spot. This has worked for me in almost every instance...I've never seen it listed anywhere, but it's just a variation of a swimming pool trick I saw at MTS. Wink
