You can kill anything in the \Thumbnails folder and it will regenerate. I've done it numerous times. They always come back.
Some of the thumbnails were probably generated with the graphics problem active, and some without, which is why some are fuzzy and some aren't. Bomb 'em all and make them regenerate while your graphics are good, and they should stay that way.
Geez...killing and bombing...I'm starting to sound like Pescado. <<slaps self vigorously>>

Possibilities: Community lots let visitors stay indefinitely. Home lots, visitors leave by ... what, 2 a.m.? Less turnover = more Sims on-lot. My computer's maximum on both Comm and Home lots is 14, so far. IMO, I think Maxis makes satellite hoods so we can add them to our custom hoods. For example, it wouldn't do for me to get additions to Pleasantview or Veronaville, as I've deleted them both from my game. Notes on chat: AllaStar333 (Jan 19, 2006 6:43:18 PM) can our sims sneak a woohoo in during work?
MaxisHunter! (Jan 19, 2006 6:43:18 PM) Why bother sneaking?
That may finally explain why the EP's are so buggy.

I have that, and the pale yellow wicker end table, and the dark little Mission end table. Someone else made them, I just downloaded them. I'll have to start up my game to find out who, though. Unfortunately, those are the only Sims1 remakes I know of. I miss a lot of the Unleashed furniture, too. [edit] They're by Ogula at Savage Sims, in the Free area. Look around that site, you may find other Sims1 objects remade. They're very well done, except that the catalog description still shows that of the "Crazy 8" table used as a base. http://www.savagesims.com/index.php

Can or can not the vampires appear in the base hood?
Yes, they can. I've even had them stalk in and take up residence in my outdoor hot tubs without being invited. They can also live in the base hood ~ Contessa what's-her-name, the orignal female Grand Vampire, now lives in one of my custom neighborhoods. The Sim who married her in died of old age, but she's still there, dispatching unwanted Sims with Shaklin's killer-mod whenever I need her services. She's much faster than drowning. As for whether home-businesses will be allowed in regular neighborhoods, I don't know, but I hope so. I've already added new space to one house I hope to set up shop in.

I can't really get worried or worked up over a scale that ignores basic fashion lol.
Just thank the gods that they didn't use blue with brown. That will never be acceptable. Hmph.

...but I just didn't get why it was called the "BIKINI STATE".
Possibly something to do with nuclear testing on the Bikini Atoll? Around here, the official Bikini State is Hawaii.

If you've seen "Bowling For Columbine," you know that Fear is the US government's most useful weapon...against US citizens.
Anyway, my husband (a truck driver) just informed me that he's been to only one place that actually displays the Terror Alert Scale, and they manufacture fertilizer. Go figger.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Outside garbage cans....

Since adding garages with Nightlife, I've been putting the big garbage cans inside the garage, near the entrance into the house. The only problem is, the maid sometimes won't toss old newspapers. It depends on how the house and garage are configured. If the maid has a straight shot from the sidewalk to the front garage doors, s/he will usually take care of the newspapers. If there's a fence or hedges or anything in the way, I usually have to tell someone to recycle old papers.
I've also moved the mailbox away from the street on a few lots, and haven't had any problems. No more than four or five tiles in from the street, facing the front walkway. So far everyone who needs to finds it OK. I'm probably risking eventual fiery death for all residents, but hey.

I was a little disappointed to see that OFB will add a whole new area. I don't plan on using that much, if at all. My car- and taxi-times aren't all that bad (about a minute), but the waiting is tedious and I can do without it. I predict my only businesses will be home-based. Florists, especially...I'm a sucker for flowers.
Does that make me a butterfly?

The first zombie I created was accidental: I resurrected an Elder to help take care of a young couple's new baby (to avoid having a Nanny), and didn't pay enough for a live version. Oddly enough, even as a zombie, she turned out to be very good at childcare...much better than any Nanny could possibly be!
I have a pair of lesbian zombies in my Strangetown. They're the most devoted parents ever, to their adopted son.
One of them (a Romance Sim) has lately been making eyes at a vampire, though. I'm so curious about what a vampire-zombie would look like that I may just "encourage" that relationship to find out. I'm not even sure a vampire will bite a zombie, considering they're both undead...

The Maxoids would be wise to help in any way they can to make sure SimPE remains the invaluable tool that it is. They need to realize that without SimPE (and mods), TS2 will be so frustrating that we'll stop playing it. And I say that as a five-year addict who owns every Sims-related thing that Maxis has cranked out. But I'd never have bought even a second Sims1 EP without the assurance that programs and mods were available to make it playable.

Thanks for the link, Sleepycat! I'm a little more excited than I was, having read that. It's not that OFB doesn't sound like fun ~ it does! ~ it's just that I'm still enjoying Nightlife enough that a new EP doesn't send me into spasms of anticipation like it normally does.

To anyone who thinks they don't need the Lot Debugger, YOU'RE WRONG. Get it. Put it on every lot. You NEED IT. I don't know how you can play with all the "stuck refrigerator tiles," "stuck kicky-bags," "stuck bills," loitering "offworld visitors," etc. that pile up, but it will get rid of those, and cause your game to run much smoother.
That's all I wanted to say.

Do you think that music will come with the EP? Please say yes, please say yes.
Past experience tells me that if the music is in an official pre-release video, it makes its way to the actual expansion, as well. I may be the only person on the planet who liked the original Sims music enough to copy the mp3's before uninstalling. I now have most of the music from Vacation, Unleashed, and Superstar, on the stereos in TS2. The Makin' Magic music is my Build Mode music.

I got a blue-flashing face for the first time last night! On the same guy who sometimes shows up as a visitor without a face. So the two are apparently related. As usual, his face returned to normal when I grabbed him with the Mind-Control Mirror and sent him to Change Appearance. This happened on a first-startup, small lot with only two resident Sims, so it wasn't a memory issue (I have 1.5GB RAM). Also, he's a Maxis Sim, former NPC...Stepen Gothier. I moved him in as a roommate for an Elder widower some time ago, but the Missing Face bit just started about a month ago. And it's always him.

I've had a Sim develop Missing Face Syndrome, too ~ gaping hole, not the blue flashing. Since he was just visiting the lot I was playing at the time, I didn't nab him and try the mirror. BUT, when I went to his home lot, he was fine, face and all. I don't sweat things that go away on their own...enough other crap to sweat.
For me, it wasn't an objects.package issue, since that is always marked read-only. It hasn't happened again, so I figure it was just a minor hiccup.

IIRC, there was actually a bug in some versions of bodyshop which is causing the problem of bluriness on high level when the original creator had certain types of hardware (low end).
Well, "low end" might apply in this case, since the blue skin in the screenshots is one of mine. I certainly don't have a "high end" card, but low end? It's an NVIDIA GeForce FX5500 (or numbers to that effect) with 256MB memory... That skin looks fine in my game, though, so I don't think that's the problem. However, I can't see very fine textures, or read t-shirt text at far zooms, either, unless I drop "smooth edges" to 0. I think that's a problem with the game's rendering method ~ it smooths edges by antialiasing everything, instead of just actual edges. Perhaps more powerful video cards compensate for this, but that's something I and other skinners can't control.

Two things I know of might cause this:
Either... The skins that look best on Medium have smaller-than-normal textures, so they're having to be enlarged to fit the Sim (although I have no idea whether BodyShop would even allow that to happen, since I've never tried to sneak in a smaller texture)...
OR
There's something going on with the bumpmaps. I can't verify that, either, since I have to play without bumpmaps activated because of my graphics card.
Do you have bumpmaps activated? If you don't, then it's not the second thing.
Can you post a screenshot showing the two side by side, for comparison? You've got me curious.
