26  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Tracking down in use errors on: 2008 January 21, 07:12:49
Seems as though Maxis will never fix the seat in use bug. Probably because it's an accumulation of many bugs, all caused by crappy design.

I think I've narrowed down the list of causes in recent code to modern perversions of code in the stereo or dance handlers, but I can't be sure. Anyone want to add to this list?

I'm wondering though, any reason not to use Vista?

If you have a known amount of content loading, and you know the time it takes to load, it's a simple matter of division.

Otherwise, I guess you could use hdperf http://sourceforge.net/projects/hdperf/ or something like that.

With almost 1.5 gb of custom content, my initial load screen is 35 seconds,to the 'hood is about 5 seconds (its sparse), to a lot is about 5-15 seconds depending on the size.

It helps to have a hard drive that can load (at least) 50 MB per second, apparently.

Does EA Thailand count for anything?

Only if you live in Thailand. How else can you view the page?

Code:
		pageBGColor = '#000000';
if (page == 'register_07' || page == 'profile_07'){
if (countryID == 5){
pageHeight = 1647;
pageBGColor = '#C5CBC9';
}
}

Changing motive/skill ratings in the OBJD will affect how my Asylum Enforcer views it, but it has no other effect (except how the catalog rates it).
32  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Uni class performance meter bug on: 2008 January 15, 21:43:45
Any cheats or hacks you use will have no effect on the grade meter when it has this particular bug. The only thing that probably works is moving them out.
33  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Uni class performance meter bug on: 2008 January 15, 00:48:32
It's corrupted data of some kind that causes it, most likely. What's getting corrupted and how is a mystery to me.
34  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Love Shack on: 2008 January 14, 04:41:50
Way too many flow issues. I like having as few traffic jams as possible. A good example are those walkthrough bathrooms. Another example is the TV (where you have the radio and the bookcase) and a one-tile space for anyone traversing from the upper floor to the kitchen. Things like that become a problem with lots of sims.
35  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Love Shack on: 2008 January 14, 04:36:03
Looks pretty sweet, but man I wouldn't actually put sims in there.  Tongue
36  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: TUTORIAL and HACK. Hacked neighborhood deco that goes ANYWHERE. on: 2008 January 14, 04:28:50
What happens if you uninstall the hack? Do the neighborhood objects stay where they are?
37  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Family funds cheat suddenly doesn't work on: 2008 January 13, 23:32:53
Cheats aren't something we can modify around here, so please think hard about what happened to your sims and their families and let us know if you come up with some idea.

Another important note is that box.net requires cookies enabled.
39  The Bowels of Trogdor / The Small Intestines of Trogdor / Re: Family IDs on: 2008 January 10, 00:04:48
Well, to explain a bit... in my growuptownies mod, I was specifically testing to see if the sim was in the 7FFE family.  Hence the name of the mod. Tongue  But, after play testing, and some requests (I think), I ended up adding downtownies as well.  This seemed all well and good, until someone noticed that the options were not showing up for these tourist and local type "npc" sims.  So, if I want to enable the option for these types of sims, then I assume I will have to test for asia, mountains, tropics, and all 12 of those "actual tourists" families in that range.  Right?

That's right. And the Garden Club as well (if you want to grow them up from Adult to Elder or Elder to dead).
40  The Bowels of Trogdor / The Small Intestines of Trogdor / Re: Family IDs on: 2008 January 09, 00:54:55
"will" use?  As in...

"Will" as in "when tourists are populated" (i.e. when you create a neighborhood).

i.e. should I bother testing for this group to make sure that I also include this group as potential "townie"/NPC types?

What is the difference between "actual tourists" and tourists (0x7FF4)?
And why are there two groups (ox7FE5 and 0x7FF0)?  Is there any difference between them?

0x7FE5 is the first group, and 0x7FF0 is the last group. As I said, this is a range. In other words, them and every Id between them is used for Tourists.

It's currently unknown what use the 0x7FF4 Id has. I suspect it was "pre-deprecated" (as Microsoft is wont to do). In other words, they suddenly decided to stop using it.

Tourists are essentially the same as townies. The only real difference is that they only appear in "Vacation" sub-hoods, and that they generally appear as a group. There are always 4 sims per familyId, all with the same family name, etc.

Whether you should test for them really depends on the purpose of your code.

Real music while playing the Sims is kind of... weird don't you think?  Undecided
42  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Are ninjas ... people? on: 2008 January 06, 22:57:35
I mean that objects behave in an irregular manner toward those sims. This is unsightly and could possibly cause unknown problems or even errors.

I have a shrub hack that lets you wipe those memories. Of course, you get funky First Kiss animations and stuff when you do that.
44  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: FFS "Batbox" Lot Debugger v2.0: NUCLEAR WAR EDITION on: 2008 January 05, 05:35:10
You ever say what EPs you have? I'm pretty sure you need OfB or newer to do the first->last name thing (given that it is Lua-specific).
45  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Here are two different error logs on: 2008 January 05, 05:23:50
Not to be ornery or anything, but you really should do something about this:

Quote
Build: 1.0.0.932

The available patch is r1022 and you are still using r932.

Temperature extremes affect how FBA works, which in turn causes erratic temperature coping behavior. You could view that as a kind of stimulus-response, if not a motive-behavior.
47  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Aner-Dyfan's AwesomeSpec House 1 on: 2008 January 04, 04:50:00
My personal rule for bathrooms is one for every 5 sims. This is why I typically have 4 bathrooms in my Greek houses.
48  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Aner-Dyfan's AwesomeSpec House 1 on: 2008 January 04, 04:38:02
Not bad. Don't really see the point in having four bathrooms and two desks, though. Another annoying thing is when you put the fridge so that a wall is on the right. It makes it look like sims are opening the fridge door right into the wall.
49  TS2: Burnination / The War Room / Re: Deleted 2: Electric Boogaloo! on: 2008 January 02, 23:10:06
Not sure if this is in the FAQ, but another good way to search would be using Google. Start out with something like this:

50  The Bowels of Trogdor / The Small Intestines of Trogdor / Re: Family IDs on: 2008 January 02, 22:45:02
For "actual tourists" you should look at:

BCON 0x13A:0x1B=32741 (0x7FE5)
BCON 0x13A:0x10=32752 (0x7FF0)

This is the range of familyId values they will use to populate the tourist pools.
