51  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / What the random error? on: 2008 June 06, 17:31:27
I've gotten the attached error a couple times while moving a family into a house for the first time.  Specifically it was while the lot was loading.  The error kept repeating itself when I seleted either "cancel" or "reset", forcing me to push "delete" to continue.  When I selected "delete" the lot finished loading and didn't have any apparent problems, but since this has happened multiple times I figured that I should find out what exactly is going on and if I need to worry about it.

If you have any in mind, I'd love to hear them.

Hmm, off the top of my head:
Skip school and/or homework
Get very-own pet
Shiny new useless toy
Death
Victim of sibling rivalry (especially if damage to toys is involved)
Social Worker: 'nuff said
Grounded: No TV, no friends, etc.
1 day running on freewill
Party for no reason
A trip to a kid-friendly community lot (i.e. the park)
Death of beloved pet

Personally I plan to add random events to my list once my neighborhood gets big enough, but they'll be events affecting an entire household instead of an individual.

Mashes the "thank you" button for Zazazu.

Nearly 50 (at the time I'm posting) people have deemed that file worthy of at least a look-see.  Doesn't that make you feel special?

I quite like the "Build what?" list in particular.  I'm going to have to add some random carnage like darcee though.  If the random neighborhood I'm considering doesn't end up somewhat like the Ghetto challenge in most lots then I'm not doing my job right.

And now for some questions:  I noticed you have every level of every career listed, and I assume that the idea is that they stop at that career level.  How do you keep them from getting promoted past that level?  (Especially in those lowest jobs where no skills and no friends are required?)  What do you do if they're fated to have their LTW fulfilled but their career conflicts with that?  What if their LTW is to get 5 level 10 businesses?  What is "Family donation"?  Exactly what is a newstand in a world where everyone gets a paper everyday for free?

Would it weird you out if I randomly asked you to pretty please let me see a copy of your RandomStuff.txt Zazazu?  I keep bumping into posts where you mention bits of it and it sounds much better thought out and detailed than anything I've been able to come up with.  I'm sure that if I could see what you have I'd finally be able to make one for myself that I actually like.  And I could use a break from the perfect utopias I keep creating.  (Even my stone age neighborhood has been boring lately.)
55  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Freetime Patch is out on: 2008 May 31, 20:02:52
I've read the entire thread and my two lingering questions remain unanswered:

1.  Is this patch worth installing?  (i.e. is the number and severity of bugs fixed by the patch greater than the number and severity of bugs created?)
2.  If I choose to install the patch which of my hacks can be removed?

Naturally, if the answer to #1 is "Yes" then I'll want the answer to #2 before proceeding.

Is that stupid cooking contest want stompable on lots without one?
57  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Bodyshop is borked. D: on: 2008 January 12, 23:19:04
The Sims that are showing appear to have a lot of CC.  Do the Maxis-made Sims in Bodyshop appear normal?  If so, Bodyshop may be unable to access the CC files required to display them correctly (especially if you're doing things like removing the downloads folder and savedsims folder).  If not, I am stumped.
58  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: "Walk to?"....feature on: 2008 January 12, 23:07:45
I was unimpressed by the thatched roof textures. There are better custom ones out there. The new roof shapes, though, are yummy.
I was unimpressed by their lack of flammability. Burninating all the people, and their thatched roof cottages!
There's a lack of flammability in roofs in general, especially when it rains fire.  I can see the tile roofs making it through that, but not the wood shingles.

I know that ex-nannies can't potty train toddlers, for example.
60  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: In love with Bigfoot? on: 2008 January 06, 23:15:03
Doubtful.  From what I hear, tampering with Bigfoot could result in a BFBVFS.  Forcing a pregnancy like you propose is probably a VBT as well.

Do you have the lot debugger?  If so, do you have the option to fix their age?
62  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: My cat ran away on: 2008 January 03, 20:29:19
Well, you also have to keep in mind that MATY is the tough neighborhood of the Sims Forum world.  If you haven't been poked, laughed at, and insulted you haven't been here for very long or you haven't been trying very hard.  But here's a tip:  The best defense is a good offense*.

* Offense is meant in all senses of the word.
63  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: My cat ran away on: 2008 January 03, 09:27:57
Okay, I'll do it next time I load the game: I can't post it here, the file's too big.  I could barely cram that thing into a 5x6 lot (it's a HUGE building IRL) so it's not something for wimpy computers.  But I'll do the link-to-sheepland thing.  On the plus side, you'd have to really, really suck to have a runaway pet on that lot.  They'd have to make it through two if not three doors or gates that should be locked to pets at all times except during the carpool if you insist on giving your pets jobs.  It's based off a stable that houses horses worth $100,000 or more so you'd better believe that they're not getting out.  I'm thinking of creating a similar but less elaborate kennel on a smaller lot my ancient computer can actually manage sometime.  Maybe based on that vet place I worked at once.
64  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: My cat ran away on: 2008 January 03, 03:43:47
Which reminds me, I need to upload that lot sometime...  I used to work at a horse stables, and I recreated it in my game.  Useless as an actual stables, of course, but it works quite nicely as a kennel.  You can separate each individual pet into their own "stall" if need be, plus the arena is a good training area and the pastures make good areas to keep groups like litters and breeding pairs.  And there's fences galore - no pet is going to escape from that thing.  The office area makes a small but useable home as well.  It's too bad my computer isn't fast enough to deal with the 20+ pets it would take to fill that thing.
65  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: What happened to "Write Term Paper"? on: 2008 January 02, 05:24:18
If you are using Monique's computer, that can cause it too.
No, I'm not using that.  Come to think of it, I do have a hack that lets teens move out that's enabled on the computer in addition to the newspaper, but since I'm bumping into known issues here I doubt that's the problem.
66  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Wants & Fears Sanity "Death To All Nesses" Public Beta Edition on: 2007 December 31, 23:25:25
Does this squish the toga party and ask to pledge wants of Sims who have joined a Greek House but don't actually live in one?  If not, mind adding that?
67  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: What happened to "Write Term Paper"? on: 2007 December 31, 22:21:20
Ah.  That explains both then.  Max did just get into a greek house, and I don't remember specifically but I do often have pledges do Term Papers.  I assume both issues are stll unresolved?  I have patched BV, so I can say that it's definately still a problem.

So, I guess I'll try reloading the lot, be more careful about Fall from now on, and I'll stop influencing playables to write term papers - but that's a very low blow.  Someone Awesome should do something about this (or at least someone semi-awesome).
68  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / What happened to "Write Term Paper"? on: 2007 December 31, 19:23:52
I'm playing the "Friends" household that came with Uni, and Mitch and Max keep mysteriously losing their ability to write their Term Papers.  Max couldn't write his at all last semester, but he did this semester.  Mitch wrote most of his term paper this semester (got it to about 90%) then went to bed, and now the option to finish it isn't there - just "Change Major".  There weren't any errors, I don't have any hacks that alter Term Papers (or the computer, for that matter), and I'm at a complete loss.  Nothing of note happened between when he was writing his term paper and now, except perhaps it changed to Fall.  Any ideas of what I can try?

I believe over 70 is when your friends stop calling you to harrass you about how much they miss you.
70  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Is it the hotdogs or the woohoo? on: 2007 December 17, 03:29:20
Well that's just great.  This seems to happen every time there's a cutscene and someone's eating hotdogs.  It's very hard to click the options on the error message that pops up with the invisible mouse during a cutscene, and I keep forgetting to turn off the testing cheats and/or cutscenes when it might be an issue.
71  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Is it the hotdogs or the woohoo? on: 2007 December 17, 01:14:05
That's an interesting thing to say, considering that I never left.  Well, I did leave in the sense that I don't post nearly as much as I did at one time, but in that sense I'm not "back".  And I'm not likely to ever be back in that sense because I didn't approve of the way I was being treated, that's unlikely to improve, and instead of being a whiny n00b who runs around complaining about how mean everyone is I did the sensible thing and started hanging around forums more to my liking.  This site's still good for downloads that fix my game though.  And advice on what to do about my woohoo/hotdog problem.
72  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Is it the hotdogs or the woohoo? on: 2007 December 15, 17:38:48
I've gotten this error multiple times, always during a hottub woohoo cutscence, but the error mentions hotdogs which were being eaten by townies at the time.  I have all of the expansion packs, all patched, except for Bon Voyage (Christmas!) and none of the silly stuff packs.

Let's see, any more pertinent information?  It's on a community lot.  I do have a squinge hack that allows non-playables to use the grill, but they weren't grilling at the time, just eating the hotdogs, so that's probably not it.
73  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Too much Neighborhood Decor on: 2007 July 04, 21:52:10
Is there some way to remove all the decorations from a currently played neighborhood other than grabbing and deleting them individually?  I recently downloaded some very good neighborhood templates - very good except that they're being invaded by so many trees that my computer can't handle them very well at all and it would take literally hours to delete enough to solve the problem.  If I can't do this with my already played neighborhoods, is there a way to cleanse the neighborhood template?
74  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Proposition: Arranged Marriage Hack on: 2007 July 04, 21:06:39
And it would also work with the Find-A-Mate Crystal Ball
75  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: FFS "Batbox" Lot Debugger v2.0: NUCLEAR WAR EDITION on: 2007 June 19, 07:01:36
I personally would like the debugger to blend in better.  They look horrible sitting out there in the yards of the peasants in my medieval neighborhood who, like good peasants everywhere, can't afford a basement or a wide enough house to have attic space.  (Heck, some of them don't even have enough walls to make any roofed area.)  Then again, it's better than the bright green hourglass.
