I understood the part about checking the pie menu with controlpets on, so I did and found that hostile actions are unavailable.  What I don't understand is what you mean by "external".  External to what?
27  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: More Awful Than You! December: Freaky Furries on: 2008 December 10, 15:37:06
Well, since they all involve custom skins, the only way to really use them would be as default replacements and most people just don't have that kind of commitment to furries.  And warped faces are just dumb - the people who made those need to pick a new game to taint.
28  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Relinking Sims without character file or restoring a character file on: 2008 December 10, 15:29:48
While there are some parts of a character file that are that can easily be replaced with data copied from other character files, there is some data contained within a character file that's unique to that Sim.  For example, I believe the data used to construct their face is in there.  I suppose in theory it could be possible to create a file that would work, but your Sim would definately not be the same and you're more likely to create a borked character.  It's definately better just to forget about it.

As depicted above, Soot's favorite victim is Pooka and they're in the same family.  The other aggressor's favorite victim is his mother, who lives in the same family.  They're both also much more aggressive to visitors than the other dogs/wolves in the neighborhood, but I don't see that as much of a problem - in fact I find that hilarious.

The way these two behave is distinctly and obviously different from all the others, but I'm a relatively smart person and I still see no reason why.  It makes me think they're borked somehow, except they'd both have to be borked in the same exact way and individual borkedness is usually a one-off event - I don't believe it's a neighborhood meltdown because I've behaved myself with this particular neighborhood, which is relatively new with less than 100 character files.  It's really quite baffling.

Last I heard you can meet the NL chefs by going to the restaurant and being unable to afford the bill...
31  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Less Pet Warfare on: 2008 December 10, 05:08:42
No, this dog was born-in-game.  One of her parents was a wolf, the other parent was born-in-game and the offspring of two wolves.  The other dog in the picture is a wolf.  The black dog at the very end of the relationship panel is her littermate.  All of the aforementioned dogs/wolves are all rather nice and don't go chasing around other dogs/wolves.  The only other hostile dog/wolf in the neighborhood happens to be her uncle, who was also born-in-game.

As a general fan of furries I can see how a well made skin would be fun to have in the game.  If it weren't for the fact that I actually enjoy the cartoony default skin, hair, etc. I would be quite likely add them to my game.  However, as this thread clearly demonstrates, well made furry skins are strongly lacking.  I've looked for them and come up empty several times.  Genensims probably has some of the best stuff but, then again, they also have terrible stuff.  (Their biggest flaw is their preschoolesque color choices in many cases - tigers aren't neon orange.)  Anyway, I'd go back and find some of the terrible, terrible things I've run across, but I don't want to damage my ability to find good furries in the future by intentionally seeking out badness.
33  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Less Pet Warfare on: 2008 December 10, 04:08:50
I can do better than that.  Here's a screenshot of Soot's relationship panel while she's autonomously growling when she clearly shouldn't be.

Okay, here you go.

If they were Sims, they'd be best friends at this point.  The other two I referred to before would be friends (with a positive ltr too - I've bred them to eachother, actually).  I should say that I'm not allowing either hostile dog to actually act upon it; I've been playing with petactioncancel on and cancelling all the "chase" actions that keep popping up - it requires constant monitoring the whole time the dog is awake, but it means their relationship isn't suffering at all.  So yeah, no change.

Edit: Oh, and for the record, yes I'm sure that I actually did get the new version and not a cached version of the old one, and yes I manually checked to make sure it's in proper location on my computer.
36  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Less Pet Warfare on: 2008 December 09, 07:29:26
I tested the latest edition on my original hostile dog today; no change.  What can/should I do now?
37  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Less Pet Warfare on: 2008 December 06, 20:38:05
It seems that my game is intent on testing this hack; another puppy from a different family grew up and is exhibiting similar behavior, and it's now being compulsively aggressive to the other dog in the household.  Actually, after further observation of both cases, it seems that these two individual dogs are overly hostile to all other pets.  They both have aggressive personalities, but both have been trained since puppyhood to be playful and I have a lot of dogs in this neighborhood that are aggressive personality/trained to be playful - they behave completely differently.  For example, all the other dogs in the neighborhood will sniff or even play with the mailman but these two chase the mailman.  Both of these dogs have clone-like siblings who are quite pleasant, actually.  Maybe I should be reporting this as a bug, but it's weird because this is now the second dog with this problem so it's not like a one-off borked pet, I have no other pet related hacks, and you'd think this hack would do something.
38  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Less Pet Warfare on: 2008 December 05, 04:52:57
After encountering my dog's OCD style desire to chase his mother, I added this hack.  (He already chased his father completely off the lot.)  There is no change in his behavior with this hack, despite the fact that their relationship is at Pack level (which I managed to obtain using cheats - he autonomously tries to chase her pretty much any time he has nothing in his queue and no pressing needs).  There's isn't any Maxian dumb-code encouraging dogs to be hostile to relatives, is there?
39  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: While out hiking, Jake met... on: 2008 July 16, 02:42:48
But surely the game should have checks in place to make sure sims only bring home people from hikes that can be interacted with properly.
That's assuming way too much competence on Eaxis's part.  If they can't do so many other things right that should be simpler, why would they think to add checks for this in the first place?  And what are the odds that they would work if they did think to add them?  In fact, I believe the fact that your Sim met the ninja while on a hike in the first place proves that if they have checks for that (which is a big "if"), they didn't work.

Is your avatar ever going to age up again?
Possibly.  But the rate at which she ages corresponds to the time I spend here, which isn't very much anymore.  Especially since I haven't posted in RetardoLand since...  can't remember but it seems like at least two years.

I wish Maxis had decided that dormies who lived in your dorm were considered members of your household for the purposes of locking doors so that you could keep actual visitors at bay without blocking their access to places like their dorm rooms.  And that dormies from your dorm wouldn't go to class while you're on a date with them.  And that dormies wouldn't randomly decide to go hang out in their dorm rooms for reasons other than sleep.  (Why do they do that anyway?)  Needless to say, I'm sick of dorms.

Did you try looking for them in the "specialty lots" section?

1) i was  pretty sure the "business" and "real estate" options only were supposed to come up WHEN you click on call. not alongside it.
that way all the phonecall options are located inside "call" sub-menu. i may take  my hacks out and see if this is the case.
i'm almost certain "subscribe to magazine" should't come up EVERY time i click on my sim. if thats how its supposed to be then its quite lame. do you really want to see that everytime you click on a sim with a mobile?
No.  "Business" and "Real Estate" do annoyingly come up alongside "Call".  Same thing with "Subscribe to magazine".  It's a "feature".  Compare with the options on the regular phone: it's exactly the same.

And we're more comfortable about insulting people who assume our ignorance than other simmers too.  And poking them with sticks.  Sometimes death threats are involved too.

I've got no20Khandout and there isn't even close to enough squalor in my neighborhoods.  The only time I've ever come close to wanting/needing a $10 shower was during the course of the Ghetto challenge (which currently has my vote for best challenge ever).  And even if that sort of thing were allowed in that challenge it wouldn't make me want any FeeEssen crap.

...I have been known to use them for Sims just starting out...  ...lately I've just been using money cheats to get them nicer things anyway.  Wink

There's only one word to describe that:
46  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sim Strategy Discussion on: 2008 June 15, 04:10:52
There are a ton of different mods and cheats I use for my random events, none of which I made myself Wink
I'd be absolutely interested in a list when it comes to that.

Double apologies for how long it took me to upload this.  It simply took a long time for me to remember to package the lot while the game was running, then another long time for me to remember to upload it here while I was here.   Embarrassed  If you have any questions about it, let me know.
48  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Hobby Neighborhood Questions on: 2008 June 13, 18:43:49
I've got two questions:

1.  I stupidly didn't read the whole post when I installed the clean version of the hobby neighborhood in my game files initially, so access was cut off to the hobby lots when it incorperated itself into a few of my neighborhoods.  So now when I go to any of the hobby lots in those neighborhoods the lot loads and the Maven is there, but the lot itself is completely empty.  Can I fix this, and if so how?  (Note: If this requires messing around with SimPe I'm prepared to do it, but I need it in simple instructions.)

2.  Is there a way to adjust the order of the seasons in the hobby neighborhood to correspond to the order of the seasons in my main neighborhood?
49  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Three-story house with major complications. on: 2008 June 07, 00:47:18
I decided to take a crack at this because I happen to be very familiar with building cheat codes (even though I, oddly enough, rarely if ever use them).  I did manage to make a three story building with a porch coming out the back that was 1/2 story higher than the ground in the back(making it about twice as high as an ordinary foundation) with no visible imperfections when the walls were up.  If you're interested in the details of how it's done I could write it down if you'd like, but it's basically a cross between the "house on a hill" and "two story basement" concepts.  I did notice that there's a lot of fancy things I could do with this double-height deck... (i.e. turn it into a two-level deck, also add access to the second story, etc.)
50  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: What the random error? on: 2008 June 06, 20:21:15
Hmm, so basically warmthfixes is detecting that my characters have corrupt bits of data, likely due to the fact that this is indeed from my merged 'hood?  Well I don't consider that to be too big of a deal.  I figure a merged hood is inherintly unstable and on its way to a BFBVFS from the beginning anyway.  I only plan on messing with it until it is VFS, at which point I can delete it and concentrate fully on my custom 'hoods (because we all know they're better anyway).  I can and will happily ignore the errors as long as they aren't going to effect my custom hoods.
