1  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Converting UL rabbit holes to function as hospital/city hall/bookstore etc. on: 2014 February 11, 21:46:25
This is marvellous news. Any hints on how to convert them to the combined rabbit holes? I'm assuming it would be equally simple, such as just putting in "Sims3.Gameplay.Objects.RabbitHoles.BookstoreAndSpa", or something similar.

EDIT: So, yes, this works, and is rather simple to do so. I converted the Annex RH into a school/stadium combo simply by looking up the appropriate code (Sims3.Gameplay.Objects.RabbitHoles.ComboSchoolStadium) but they act as default replacements and when I sent my sim to get a job at the new stadium, it came up as "BlahBlah needs to be at the Schmidt Memorial Stadium and Annex..." Any ideas on how to change the names of the rabbitholes, and have them appear as separate packages? This is my first foray into anything beyond simply playing the game, if it wasn't obvious.
2  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Converting UL rabbit holes to function as hospital/city hall/bookstore etc. on: 2014 January 27, 09:43:17
The subject pretty much explains it all. I'm working on a world with an Oxford/Cambridge type look and the UL rabbit hole shells would be perfect for everyday rabbit holes. If someone has already done something similar to this elsewhere, then my extensive search seems to have missed it. But, basically, is there anyway to change the function of rabbit hole shells? Turn the admin centre into city hall, for example, or the arts building into a bookstore. You get the idea. I figured it was at least worth asking, since there are plenty of rabbit hole rugs/doors around.

I've been running the latest AM in Sunlit Tides with zero problems. My sim's can use the jetski/all of the boats on water just fine and with setConfig smarterVehicleChooser false, I haven't seen any on the roads either. For me, the sound issue seems to be Isla Paradiso specific.

"PLEASE LIKE MY FACEBOOK SITE FOR THIS FOR ANY FURTHER DETAILS"

Jeezus, things like this are enough to put me off downloading the world altogether. Like Jezzer said, I'm predicting terrible lag, and probably a few routing issues from the way the high rises look tightly packed.
5  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: GOOD worlds that incorporate ALL EPs. on: 2012 July 25, 02:39:17
I've been playing Grey Meadow Island for a few days (ever since tryclyn uploaded it).  I like the look of it, but I keep getting corrupt saves and crashes to desktop.  Would not buy again. Sad
The hunt continues.

Use ErrorTrap, if you aren't doing so already. I had the corrupt saves and crashes constantly and that fixed everything for me.

Edited to add that for anyone else who's still looking for a world to play, there are two I've come across recently which aren't bad. Roseford Hill's has it's kinks but is actually really pretty, and I've only played it briefly but it seems to have everything. There's also Eltham's Drift for someone who'd prefer a smaller world. At the moment I can't seem to get a working direct link to it, so this will do for now.

So well thanks I'm going to search for the set. Thought I have it ingame already hmh

No point in the same person opening a new thread for the same old question. I'm just still yet to find a decent Showtime world to play in. I didn't mind so much for a while and played in Setra - which, if your machine can handle, I'd absolutely recommend - but it kept freezing every thirty seconds or so for me when the population would get a little crazy.

Then I switched to the infamous St. Claire, which I have to say was a huge let down. There's just a few issues that don't become apparent until you've played it for a while, and the routing really does leave a lot to be desired. Sims keep getting stuck in their apartments, my teen sims would constantly be stuck on "Field trip!" mode at school, excluding them from after school clubs and jobs, I had to use moveobjects to move puppies/kittens indoors because it wouldn't let me pick them up when they were outside of the apartments. Just ugh. Coupled with the fact most of the lots are empty/unfurnished/weird sizes, which some people would love, but I'm lazy as hell.

So, anyone have any shiny new worlds to recommend?
8  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Digital downloads on Mac? on: 2012 March 30, 00:29:23
Would it be completely selfish of me to re-hijack this thread to ask, once again, if there are ANY other solutions? Namely some magical way to convert Sims downloaded games to work on a Mac? Or some sort of fantastic fairy dust I can sprinkle over everything to make the world a better place?

I saw some sort of half assed tutorial on how to convert downloads, but these were games downloaded from Digitalriver or something along those lines, and without being able to install Origin, there's no way I can get the files onto my Macbook in the first place.
9  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Digital downloads on Mac? on: 2012 March 29, 23:26:59
I plan on wearing my Apple sticker smeared across my face with pride.

Or I'll just leave it in the box and enjoy a working laptop.
10  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Digital downloads on Mac? on: 2012 March 29, 22:29:53
ARR it to play it on Mac.  You've already paid for it once.  No sense in paying for another copy, which is what EA wants you to do.

I suppose that seems like the only sensible solution at this point. It's been recommended that I partition my hard drive and install Windows on there to play Sims, but I didn't buy a Mac so that I could go back to using Windows again.
11  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Digital downloads on Mac? on: 2012 March 29, 21:29:02
Not that I've got any helpful advise or anything, but is Origin really vomit?

Origin really is vomit. Absolute and utter vomit. I'm ashamed of myself for using it but my eagerness got the better of me during weaker times.
12  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Digital downloads on Mac? on: 2012 March 29, 20:57:12
I've recently purchased a Macbook Pro and I'm looking forward to playing Sims on a capable machine. The only problem is, most of my games were bought as digital downloads through that retched Origin, and now since Origin isn't Mac-compatible, I'm unsure what to do short of buying new hard copies of my games. Does anyone have any more suitable suggestions, or have been in a similar situation themselves?
13  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The Sims 3 has stopped working - Windows or computer problem? on: 2012 January 05, 03:18:25
I've tried everyone suggestions, but tonight it crashed within seconds of playing. I was able to fiddle around in buy mode for ages, but once I switched to live mode it only took seconds.
14  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The Sims 3 has stopped working - Windows or computer problem? on: 2012 January 04, 01:10:24
When I changed so that the file "C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin\TS3W.exe" was the one named for DEP, then the crashes stopped.

Is that the only file you have named for DEP? Because I have that in the list, but I also have all the others too - TS3EP01.exe, 02, etc.
15  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The Sims 3 has stopped working - Windows or computer problem? on: 2012 January 03, 18:36:14
Try this:
http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Data_Execution_Prevention
OK I now saw that you already did that, but check so you have the right game.exe in the list, I didn't and it gave me crashes suddenly.

Ah, thank you, now we seem to be getting somewhere. I have four xcpt files in my TS3 folder, the last two being identical bar the timestamps.

One of them displays this:
Quote
[Exception info]
date: 2011-12-19
time: 17.26.03
type: ACCESS_VIOLATION reading address 0x00007061
address: 0x00007061 <unknown module>
Which MTS tells me is a DEP error, despite having all and any Sims .exe files added to the list.

Another, this:
Quote
[Exception info]
date: 2011-12-20
time: 20.36.17
type: ACCESS_VIOLATION reading address 0x00000014
address: 0x00d229f5 "C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin\TS3W.exe":0x0001:0x009219f5
I have no idea what this one is referring to.

And the last two, this:
Quote
[Exception info]
date: 2011-12-28
time: 15.57.08
type: ACCESS_VIOLATION reading address 0x00000030
address: 0x00d22aef "C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin\TS3W.exe":0x0001:0x00921aef
Which a quick Google search suggests may be linked to borked CC corrupting my save, which I don't understand since I fixed all of my CC, don't have much of it now anyway and I still get crashes even with new save files.
16  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The Sims 3 has stopped working - Windows or computer problem? on: 2012 January 03, 18:07:47
So apparently not even an excellent and well managed computer can play TS3. EA insist on spending their time trying to devise new ways to get more money from the masses who are willing to pay for it, whilst adding in features no one has shown interest in (e.g. "social" features in Showtime), all the while ignoring the many problems the game already has. I play very disinterestedly too lately because I know my game's liable to shut down at any given moment. It's clear now why my interest in the game doesn't last for more than a few weeks at a time.
17  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The Sims 3 has stopped working - Windows or computer problem? on: 2012 January 03, 01:42:14
TS3 is also vicious about fragmenting hard drives. I defrag at least weekly.

Sometimes a game reinstall works. Maybe some files have got a bit corrupt or something, who knows, but as a last resort this can sometimes help. I have also recently downloaded a small custom world to see if that makes a difference. I've had CTDs with that, but knew some of them were my fault. e.g. I deleted the science rabbithole by accident, didn't realise what it was.

Oh, sigh. Just spent the last few hours defragmenting, uninstalling, reinstalling. I also cleaned out my CC and merged what I wanted to keep. But now I'm so sick of Sims for one night that I can't be bothered to play to test it out.
18  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The Sims 3 has stopped working - Windows or computer problem? on: 2012 January 02, 22:45:52
I have the same problem and these solutions seem to help:
- Turn off antivirus and firewall when you play
- Turn off network capabilities when you play, if you don't already.
The game still crashes for me, but only after a couple hours instead of minutes.

Edited because you already turned off DEP.

Also, from what I understand it appears to be a video driver issue so you might want to see if you can update your driver. Since the crashes come without warning, I keep my phone near to play games while I save every 20 min or so. Smiley

I already do all of that, too. Plus everything is up to date.
19  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The Sims 3 has stopped working - Windows or computer problem? on: 2012 January 02, 14:55:48
Does it do it with both saved and fresh games?

Yup. Most of the time it will crash before I have time/think to save, so one time I saved after a few Sim days, shut down the game and rebooted, naively thinking that might make some difference, but it still crashed eventually. It's usually something between one and two Sim weeks into the game when it happens.
20  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The Sims 3 has stopped working - Windows or computer problem? on: 2012 January 02, 14:05:59
You might check your GPU temperature.
Didn't think to do that as I always use a laptop cooler. I've just checked now though using CPUID and my core temps are 43 and 45 degrees Celsius.

Might you have a mirror on your screen every time this happens? That was what was causing my CTDs, took me forever to realize it though. My graphics card was shit.

A mirror? I don't understand how it could be my graphics though when it runs great. My laptop's Windows 7 64-bit, so do you think running it in compatibility mode might solve the problem? I did try it briefly and it didn't crash, but then again it takes about two Sim weeks for it to crash usually so I'm still not convinced that's the answer.
21  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / The Sims 3 has stopped working - Windows or computer problem? on: 2012 January 01, 22:34:23
The title is fairly straightforward. I can run Sims with a fairly chunky amount of CC on high settings without any serious lag for an indefinite amount of time - but sooner or later I always get "The Sims 3 has stopped working" and has to close and blah blah. Now, since I don't have any problems actually running the game, so to speak, I'm reluctant to believe it's a problem with my machine. I've tried the usual suggestions, such as turning off DEP for Sims, shutting down all background tasks whilst I'm playing, playing without CC, but nothing seems to work. I have all EPs and I'm fully patched, so this problem is utterly infuriating. Has anyone suffered a similar problem and found a way around it, or does anyone have any useful suggestions as opposed to the nonsense I've been offered so far?
22  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: GOOD worlds that incorporate ALL EPs. on: 2011 December 29, 14:43:34
I've not tried it yet, but there's a new world on MTS which incorporates all the EPs. My only concern is that it might be too laggy for my poor wee laptop.

Already downloaded and played it. My laptop can usually run large worlds pretty well, if not perfectly, but for some reason Jericho lags WAY too much. It may be the addition of hidden tombs, I think, because although I haven't gone on a hunt for anything, I've noticed a few keystones and whatnot lying around. It would be a nice alternative for someone who enjoys playing Twinbrook, because it's got that slightly dark and moody feel about it. But alas, yet again, not for me. I've never been a fan of tombs in a regular world anyway.
23  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Not an AwesomeMod Bug on: 2011 December 27, 22:28:57
I'm not one to partake in 'tard flaming usually, but did you not even think to check which patch awesomemod was running at? Yes, EA's patches are terrible, but that's why AM is here to fix them. You, however, cannot be fixed and are beyond salvation. Please leave.
24  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: GOOD worlds that incorporate ALL EPs. on: 2011 December 25, 10:40:18
Since no two players will have the same requirements from a world (system specifications vary, as do the personal choices we make in how we play the game and what we want from a world), I decided to pick a couple of worlds that were close enough to what I wanted and edited them in-game.

I saved them before I started playing and I always have fresh unplayed versions when I want to start a new neighbourhood.

The world I use most is Bayborough by myskaal, which I found here at MATY.

It has plenty of room to add lots - I've added all the Ambitions lots (except the laundromat), the film set lot from Late Night, and the cat park, dog park, and 2 horse lots from Pets.  I've also added a few community lots I built myself.

I realise this and I think that's what is part of the problem. I lack the skills to modify a world to the standard I'd like, or to keep it in line with any general theme a 'hood might have. I like smaller worlds that have the LN lots without the high rises and 'big city' feel, and to have little details in the world - such as standard sized lots so that I can place what I want on there, outside flooring that matches the sidewalk and especially street names and building descriptions (a minor thing really, I know.) I have a feeling I'm just going to have to attempt to edit the worlds I really like until something comes out that blows me away, or stop being so damn picky.
25  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: GOOD worlds that incorporate ALL EPs. on: 2011 December 24, 21:25:37
I really rate MySimRealty's worlds, especially Redwood Harbor, though that is an older one, not updated for Pets. I did manage to find space for the riding school whatsit and a horse park, though space is a bit tight, and obviously it does not really fit Late Night style clubbing (fine by me as there are never any blooming sims in my clubs in the first place).

There aren't that many worlds out there that incorporate ALL the EPs, as creators often try and make their worlds available for as many users as possible, but it shouldn't be too difficult to plonk a couple of pets lots down in somewhere like Glendalough for example.

What are you after? A big sprawling world or a small, easier on the RAMZ, island world?

I've tried a few of MySimRealty's worlds but there always seems to be one or two things which bug me - which I really should ignore and just get on with it as they are wonderful. I was actually playing the updated Meadow Glen and really loved that, although I had some routing issues.

The size of the world isn't an issue for me, but I prefer something generally smaller anyway. It's hard to name specifics, but Neverglade was my favourite world which I played through 7 generations on. I've tried and tried to update it myself whilst still keeping with the general theme of the place (that's one thing I really love in a world), but there aren't really enough lots, or enough space to place new ones. I'm going to give Glendalough a try now though.
