Love the design and feel to this. Will test it later. Wink

Can you enable same sex pregnancy? Or is it too much of a hassle with the pregnancy morphs and stuff? (Since these are compatible with AM and the present ones out there aren't).
My mods are released as is, the only tweaks I'll be doing to them are bug fixes or if I want to change something to suit my tastes. However, you can tweak my files yourself with s3pe, or go find yourself the pregnancy morphs on MTS, then head over here to get yourself a custom pregnancy mod compatible with AM.

Thanks, Anach Smiley I understand that you don't want to add things; So thanks for the link, I didn't know it existed.

@MsRaven: I think some of your assumptions may be incorrect.

@snowbawl: I acknowledge that.  I am not accusing you of that, but rather indicating that these two are trying to emulate you in an attempt to ingratiate themselves.  For good or ill, you are probably established.

I hope you don't mean I'm the second one Shocked
I did nothing. I've been here long enough to actually know when to agree with you and when to shut up. (By the way I agree with you on what's going on Wink)

29  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Merging mods to increase Performance! (Manually creating .dbc archives) on: 2010 January 07, 17:21:17
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, I'm following this step by step but all I'm getting is a *decrease* in performance.
If you have followed the instructions to the letter then it is safe to say that one or more of the mods you are hoping to merge is dodgy. Eliminate the dodgy mods and you will find a marked increase in both the time it takes to load your game and with game performance.

The best version of s3pe to use is the one linked from here because that is the one that offers you the option to import 'as *.dbc' from the Resource drop-down menu.

I'm not sure what you're referring to as "mods". I'm not actually merging game mods (like AM or longer pregnancy mods for example); Just build and buys mode objects, hair (2 files actually) and clothes. I did try to merge them with both versions. The one I got from here did *not* have import as .dbc! I'm not sure why, but it just didn't. Undecided I know where it's located (resource > import as .dbc, but all I have is "import from package" or "from file".

Actually Anach what you're experiencing is what I've been going through. I merged them into package files. You're doing the same but originally with .sim3packs. Maybe you were right from the beginning. Maybe .dbc is better than .package?

EDIT 1: Clara, I'll have to try that out. I didn't compress them and my game is lagging. I'll try it later though, I can't right now.

EDIT 2: It turns out I did have the wrong version. At sourceforge.net I clicked on "view all files" which brought up a link to the newest version ("13") of s3pe not the "03" version. I should have clicked on the "03" version in the box below. I'll try making a .dbc later and see if it improves my performance.

I still think making them into packages will lag the game.

EDIT 3: I just made my DBCs and will try them later (Despite the fact that I got a million errors when merging my "sims" CC).

Also one question. When in s3pe, I was using the tags at the top to order the files so that I could easily locate the _xmls. Does this affect the *actual* order of the files inside the final package? If so, I think I just found the reason my game is lagging. If it does affect the final package then my game is too busy sorting the files out into their original order and thus slowing and screwing up my performance. Any ideas if this is true or not?

No, the Chunk Offset shows you what order they are in physically.  Clicking the column headers only affects your view.

I thought I had stumbled upon the solution to my problem. Thanks anyway. Has anyone else had a decrease in performance?

Something you could try is importing your packages using the standard import from .package function rather than the create dbc, try either replace or reject duplicates, group only similar mods together, and experiment a little to see if you get better results. You can't really hurt anything unless you save your game with half your content misisng or if you delete your original packages.

That's actually what I did. There didn't seem to be a resource > .dbc option, despite the fact that I got the version you provided (This confused me a lot). So I formed a package, edited the _xml files, that aren't needed, out (0x0000...) and they worked.

I must point out, this is with *replacing* duplicates. When I clicked *reject* duplicates, all it gave me was a single file (in s3pe) with zeroes in it.

I'm not sure if that was supposed to happen, but I followed the tutorial and all the posts here step by step. I would try making a .dbc but can't seem to find the option for it. I also used the link to s3pe you gave AND the one I found at MTS. They seemed to  be the same version. Huh

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, I'm following this step by step but all I'm getting is a *decrease* in performance.

I wish we had a way to find out what the current evailuated evaluated (that is what you meant right?) thing was - I suspect there's something that is iterating to whatever MAX_EVAL (what's that?) is, and then aborting.  There seem to be numerous conditions that reach this - because I've seen it in a few games, even one utter stock game in a fresh adventure world with vanilla ts3.  Once it starts it seems that it can persist for an arbitrary time until the condition goes away or I lose my patience.

35  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Merging mods to increase Performance! (Manually creating .dbc archives) on: 2010 January 06, 18:41:58
I quote from your original post:

Quote
With this newly merged mod set I have experienced faster loading, shorter save times, faster access of CAS/Build/Buy, and less reloading of textures when changing households or zooming back from map view. The framerate is more stable and i'm averaging a 2x higher framerate for longer game sessions than I was previously.

The exact *opposite* is happening to me! Even the point on how fast the textures load when changing households. I'm not sure what went wrong. I have mine in package format, do you think that's the issue here? I mean, supposedly there is no difference between packages and DBCs.

Also one question. When in s3pe, I was using the tags at the top to order the files so that I could easily locate the _xmls. Does this affect the *actual* order of the files inside the final package? The fact that you even NEED a tutorial for such a thing clearly indicates you are mentally deficient. Have you even LOOKED at it?

Thank you Witch for your very informative thread!! (Sorry about not searching)

I tried this out in-game, everything seems to be working perfectly fine. However, as far as performance goes, I don't see any improvement; It actually seems as though the game is slower Tongue. I'll have to look into that.
37  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Merging mods to increase Performance! (Manually creating .dbc archives) on: 2010 January 05, 22:38:04
Can someone post an example of a resource file that allows .dbc file in-game? I'm not that skilled in working with resource files, but am a fast leaner; So a tutorial is welcomed Smiley

You have absolutely no skills whatsoever from what I can see.  Use "search" you lazy fucking retard.

You can cool it. I don't get how you can call me a "lazy fucking retard" when you don't even know me? You don't see me name calling. Anyway I didn't have the time at that moment to search for an answer and was just seeing if anyone was decent enough to help me out. Not everyone is an expert in everything. You can't build a rocket, you can't make a computer (from scratch) and god knows, you might not even know how to read a watch! Just shut up for once. But then again, you might be another one of those "All Knowing MATY Gods" (or at least you most definitely think you are).

My Wife was also having this issue, but only with a particular save game, so changing games, rolling back to an older save, or starting a new game seems to fix it. This seems to be the case whenever neighbourhoods go bad. Over my time with sims 3 I've had to start new games and import all my families to the new hood about 3 times to fix corrupt neighbourhood issues, but most those times i've worked out it was due to a particular mod, sim or item in the game world, not AM. In my Wife's case, which sounds identical to yours, we still don't know why it was happening.

Actually I had deleted my documents sims folder to try a fresh game. All I used from before were my saved sims and library. I'm supposing the new patch had something to do with it, since it most definitely isn't caused by the two folders I used (I didn't even use any of my old saved sims!). This patch (As we've all said time and time again) really is screwing things up for us. But then again it could be caused my something else.
40  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Merging mods to increase Performance! (Manually creating .dbc archives) on: 2010 January 05, 00:02:58
I've been reading through this post since the beginning and thought of giving this a try. I don't have THAT many CC files (around 200), but if it can boost performance why not?
I just tried this out but it didn't work out. One thing I'm confused about is that you said that the 0x00000000000000 xml files can be deleted, but more than three quarters of the files I imported are made of 0x00000000000000 xml files.
I tried this out with some build mode objects and my buy mode objects. And got two files (packages) and put them with my other mods in the mods/packages folder (not in sub-folders). Supposedly they should work but they aren't. I went back into the game and found nothing. Am I doing something wrong? Should I have deleted all those tons of 0x00000000000000 xml files?
Also when I click to import the packages I get a window listing all the files inside (The location of the packages) and it shows me things I can check like deleting duplicates or not, to compress them, and other things that are grayed out (I can't check those). Any suggestions on why this didn't work?

EDIT: When you say "0x00000000000000 xml files" are you referring to the group they belong to or the type? Examples of other groups: 0x00000000000001 or 0x00000000000002
41  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Freezing again??? on: 2010 January 04, 14:39:39
OK, I just downloaded the newest version of the 1.8 AM and entered my game. I go in normally and start editing a house I was making. I was continually going back into edit town to save my work. BUT for some reason this time it freezes.
Let me clarify:

- Keyboard commands don't work but I can use my mouse to move around.
- I can't zoom, but when I move my mouse over buttons labels appear normally.
- I entered task manager and for one second it shows that it isn't responding then shows that it is.
- Also, the loading mouse thingy is spinning normally.

This has never happened. What's going on?? I've searched for freezing issues but non of them are like this. I'm lost for words. What should I do?

I must also point out that the cheat console won't open, so I'm guessing my keyboard isn't responding.

EDIT: I didn't realize I didn't say this: Once I click on edit town, it freezes. Not when I try to save.

Heat causes wear, so shortening the life of components. Not good.

I have one of those dinner trays with a beanbag thing underneath it to rest the laptop on my lap with. You could also use a vacuum to get dust out of the vents.

thanks, I cleaned it out. I should consider getting one of those trays sounds comfy. hehe thanks
43  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: I have a blurry graphics problem on: 2010 January 01, 16:28:52
It actually was only a heating problem. I was just playing too long and I was playing it on my lap (using my laptop)!! I know that was stupid. Good thing I got the blurry screen before it melted my motherboard.
The blurring is a sign that damage has occurred, not that damage will occur.

I know that. I was just thankful it had minor issues and I realized it before my motherboard melted. I didn't get anything fixed because nothing got damaged (At least I don't think so) I checked my hardware and it was all fine. I'm careful when I play now and haven't had a problem yet.
44  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: I have a blurry graphics problem on: 2009 December 31, 16:57:27
Only a heating problem? If your PC is overheating then it's a serious problem, as heat can rapidly damage your hardware. Causes of overheating are many, ranging from broken fans, underpowered Power supply, blocked vents, excessive dust, underpowered computer for the process (game), etc. It's not good to use a PC in situations where the graphics chip overheats to the point of failing. You should fix the problem, or get higher powered hardware, whichever is applicable.

It actually was only a heating problem. I was just playing too long and I was playing it on my lap (using my laptop)!! I know that was stupid. Good thing I got the blurry screen before it melted my motherboard. Now I play a while then rest and ONLY play on a solid surface. I haven't had any problems since. But it could also be another problem, so make sure you check Simsample's suggestions.
45  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: I have a blurry graphics problem on: 2009 December 31, 13:33:08
I had the same exact problem. Simsample is right, it's only a heating problem. Make sure you play on a solid surface; Fabric and soft surfaces tend to overheat the computer because they are good insulators. Also, try taking a break from time to time by turning off the computer or putting it in sleep mode or something, but you should exit the game also.

You must really like periods.

Getting your 'red wings' is a bit difficult if you don't like periods.

It's not that I don't like periods. It's just that I'm used to using ellipses in Arabic (we use them a lot in writing)
But anyway I'm not that interested in getting "red wings" Wink

Back to the subject now.

EDIT: Since it seems the problem isn't from CC (including AM) can someone help me move this to the Horror area?? I'm still accepting suggestions...

Actually, I did follow directions.

No, you really didn't. You also missed the part where everyone gave up on you.

You can call me all the names you want, but that does not make me so, it just makes me less informed but willing to learn.

If you're so willing to learn, then how come you haven't learned how we function around here? Jesus fuck, you expect us to bow down to idiots and hand hold them through the process. News flash: we won't do it and we will continue to harass you. Pescado said earlier that your problems were not Awesome-related, and therefore not the problem of any of us here. Now do yourself a favor and return to the BBS, which you would know what it is had you bothered to read the fucking board FAQ/rules.

I never thought I would read "Jesus" and "fuck" in the same sentence (consecutively!!) But then again, this IS MATY
49  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: I'm Just Not Awesome Enough ... I Need Help, Please on: 2009 December 27, 21:56:54
Thanks ... just caught your edit now.  I had downloaded the first version, not the "test" version, so maybe that's why I'm having problems.  Everything else checks out, so now this will give me something else to try.  I appreciate it.  EA's game "out of the box" lacks so much ... it's really awful.  I sure hope I can get AM working so I can enjoy the game again.

Okay, first off the mods/files folder shouldn't even be there. It is irrelevant to you. Delete it. Secondly, did you try the mods/packages folder in the base game directory first, like coconnor says to do?

I didn't know what the Files folder was for and just mentioned it to see if it would help. It seems the problem is BooHooBooBoo had the "older" non-test version.
50  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Weird issue... on: 2009 December 27, 21:55:17
Very simply: I was in the game, went out then back in... (Save a period. Stop the ellipse abuse.)
Launched 3booter (with FPS Limiter). (Eww.)
I get to the main-menu, and click to make a new neighborhood.
It loads one eighth of the bar and then crashes.
I go to the Sims 3 directory (I only have the base game) and run the 3booter from there; same results...(Save a period. Stop the ellipse abuse.)
I go into the bin folder and launch the long forgotten Sims 3 launcher. (I tried both application files.)
Result:
"Application has generated an exception that could not be handled./ Process ID=0x7f0 (2032), Thread
ID=oxf4c )3916)./ Click OK to terminate the application./ Click CANCEL to debug the application."
I click CANCEL and this comes up:
"No registered JIT debugger was specified. (figures?)/Click on Retry to have the process wait while attaching a debugger manually./ Click on CANCEL to abort the JIT debug request."

Now what? I was JUST using it... It's dead. (Save a period. Stop the ellipse abuse.)

Oh yeah, i clicked retry and it did nothing Tongue

EDIT: I get rid of the mods folder, enter the game with my CD. I click on the options tab to see if they are too high and it crashes instantly...(Save a period. Stop the ellipse abuse. Also, shouldn't this be telling you something? Like, oh, I don't know, "Hey, this isn't an Awesomemod problem afterall!")

EDIT 2: I enter task manager and find THREE Sims 3 Launcher apps open, they aren't actually open in our physical dimension though. (Sure they are. They failed to close properly. So close them. Simple!)

EDIT 3: I accidentally double click on my config file and it gives me the same message "application has generated...blah...blah...blah..."
I try reinstalling Delphy's "MonkeyHelper" again and try... I know it might have nothing to do with it but it's worth a try. (Save a period. Stop the ellipse abuse.)

EDIT 4: I get into the game using the TS3 app in the Bin folder.
It loads the game, but this time I enter my old saved game. It takes about 3 minutes to load but eventually does! I re-enter the main menu to make a new neighborhood. Same result... crash... Note: The options tab now opens and everything should be tolerable. P.S.: I uninstalled MonkeyHelper and am through with it... (Save a period. Stop the ellipse abuse.)

EDIT 5: I forgot to say this: I'm trying to make a new "Sunset Valley" neighborhood, my old saved game is "Riverview". I'll see what happens when I try to make a new "Riverview" neighborhood.

Sorry about the ellipses. And I know I should close the launchers but they SHOULD close normally on there own, that's why I mentioned it. I get that it isn't an Awesome Mod problem. BUT I also said that I went back in and it worked: the options, the saved game but not the new neighborhood making.

You must really like periods.
