I used your fabulous faces with Jordi's wonderful tutorial, and I'm so happy -- no Sandy Bruty in sight. :-)

Your faces are just wonderful -- varied and reminiscent of the originals without being caricatures of human beings.

What about creating a new hood with the "New Hood" button?  BTW, I'm getting more and more corrupt Groups.cache and Accessory.cache files since installing Pets... so if your game suddenly quits loading past the first splash screen -- just delete those and all will be well!

Oh, thank you, thank you!  I've had this happen half a dozen times, and each time I uninstalled and reinstalled Pets.  The next time it happens, I'll try your idea.

I'm still going to offer all of the conversions at my site because EA can't force me to take them down.

For one, I don't live in the States, and for two - neither does my site. Cheesy

Maybe we should be calling you Robin Hood instead of Blue Soup. :-)

Thanks for the booty, Robin!

Jordi, you're talking about the letter of the law, and I'm talking about something else.  Numenor did something that he knew might get him in hot water, so he tried to cover his ass by telling people not to use them anywhere else.  Yes, I understand that Numenor does not own the copyright to the stuff, but there's such a thing as moral suasion.  I think you're reading letter of the law while missing intent.

Anyway, I don't intend to argue this anymore; people who have a chip on their shoulder about Numenor can take it up with him, not me.  Not only am I not Numenor, but I don't even play him on TV. :-)

Yeah the copyright thing is weird. They don't own the items so can't make any statements on copyrights. If anyone were to steal "my" update for the Alienware computer for example, I would be pissed, but can't do anything about it. I don't own the original copyright to the EAMaxis items (neither does Numenor), so I can't make up a copyright statement for it either.
Never mind the fact that the only copyright statement we do have clearly gives it to EAMaxis for not just their own items, but also all deritive works.

You didn't read all of his post if you think that his policy on these items was for no reason.  He stated explicitly (in the post that is now gone) that he was restricting the use of these objects because he wasn't sure whether EA/Maxis would let them be posted.  If EA/Maxis told MTS2 to take them down, Numenor wanted there to be no copies of the stuff he converted floating around, so that he could assure the nasty lawyers that it was all gone.  His policy with the stuff he makes himself is much more liberal.

I'm not quite sure I understand the snarky attitude towards Numenor that I've seen many of the people here display.  Yeah, he has a  big ego, but as far as I can tell, it's justified -- he does have skills that most of the community does not have.  Of course, Pescado has those skills, too, but as far as I can tell, no one's ever called HIM humble, either. :-)  Last I heard, he was King of the Lip-Rippers. :-)

I'm grateful that Numenor does what he does and makes it available, and I'm grateful that Pescado does what he does and makes it available (and TwoJeffs and Squinge and Monique and Inge Jones and ChristianLov, etc.).  I'm a shrink, and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology will not get a person many programming skill points. :-)

And I guess now I'm grateful for Malaysia. :-)

Great -- thanks for doing this.

Thanks; this is great.  I can't imagine how angry I'd be if I paid $2.50 and got the before version.  Sheesh.

Servo went right over and filled the dish - but yikes!  The puppy he was carrying was mixed with the dog food and became puppy chow.  Pup's icon disappeared from the family lineup as he morphed into kibble while being poured into the bowl!

*blink*  That's ... quite something!  Thanks for sharing it with us!

So where do we make a new payment to?

Wonderful!  We've needed something like this for a long time.  Thank you!

I'm always sad when my child sims have to leave their child friends behind as they grow up, and my teen sims have to leave their first crushes behind when they become adults.

Thanks!

Too true. I always end up with a lot of ASP's that follow the sim into oblivion when it dies, since unfortunately, they can't be passed along as the regular money can via inheritance.

Usually when one of my elders is in their last couple of days, I buy a lot of aspiration objects with their points.  My sims use a lot of Thinking Caps, so I buy a lot of those and usually one of everything else.  Their aspiration points die with them, but whatever you've BOUGHT with those points sticks around.

It's like spending down your savings so Medicaid will pay for a nursing home. :-)

64  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Deleting, Creating, and Generating Townies OFB and pre-OFB on: 2006 July 12, 18:28:38
Character files are neighborhood specific, so you can't just copy/paste them.

I was afraid that might be the case.  Thanks for confirming it.

The best way to go about that would be to package the lot with the family the first time you load the lot, and before exporting. Then you can install them and place them in another neighborhood as well. I suppose it is a bit late for that at this point, though.

It's a good suggestion for the next time I make a complete set of custom Townies, though.  Thanks for the suggestion, and for the speedy response.
65  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Deleting, Creating, and Generating Townies OFB and pre-OFB on: 2006 July 12, 15:53:58
I've made a set of 30 custom Townies, and thanks to your tutorial, they seem to work beautifully.

So now I have a question:  Is there a way for me to use this set of Townies in another new neighborhood?  Can I just copy a set of files after I've deleted all the sims in the new neighborhood, or is there something in the file itself that sets the neighborhood?

Thanks.
66  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Suggest Street Names Please. on: 2006 July 09, 20:19:17
I had problems with coming up with good street names too, but after watching how my sims behave, I decided to name my streets after vegetables.

ROFL!  That's great; I love it!

You've gotten a lot of good suggestions, but I'd ask -- what do you like?

If you like a particular sport, you can name streets after players (some sports have famous male players AND famous female players, such as golf and tennis).

If you like a particular style of music, you can call streets after musicians or songs.

Characters from your favorite books/movies/TV shows?

Places you've lived in the past?  Places you'd like to visit?

The names of all your friends?

I like science, so my university usually has Newton, Edison, Einstein, etc. halls. :-)  I'm thinking of naming my streets after moon locations.
