It took me a while to find the link to the download.

For all those who're blind like me.

They do like their adverts.
2  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Freetime Patch is out on: 2008 July 02, 22:11:44
Hey, folks. Does anyone know if the instructions for this crack listed @ gamecopyworld is for patch 2? Or 3?:

* Install the game - Full Installation.
    * Apply the official The Sims 2: Freetime v1.13.0.161 Patch.
    * Replace the original SIMS2EP7.EXE file with the one from the File Archive.
    * Play the Game!

Looks like it's probably the new one on the official site, but I just wanted to be sure, before messing with anything.

If you right click, scroll to properties on the download link for the official patch, it gives you the version number.

The new fixed exe at GCW is for the patch available for download today.  Not sure which patch that is though, but it is version 1.13.0.161.

This is the address it gives.
http://thesims2.ea.com/update/exe/ep7/1.13.0.161/sims2ep7_patch.exe

It also shows at the bottom of your browser window (IE) if you hover over the download link.

Lorelei, thanks for the info, I'll pass it on.  My suspicions are now facts.

Looks like the rumour that flared up from me posting about this, isn't a rumour anymore.
4  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Sporetrial and SecuRom on: 2008 June 19, 08:20:13
SecuROM has weasled its way onto my computer, probably from a Sims 2 SP. While tracking down the item that is (or itemS that ARE) farkling my WinXP laptop, SecuROM was found and ID'd as a rootkit. Note that I never installed BV, and only have EPs up to SEAS.

It is interfering with my CD/DVD Media Center OS-installed capabilities and farkling my anti-virus program, Avast. Jolly!

Even without installing BV, a previous EP/SP had SecuROM lurking within, even if it was a less aggressive version.

Are you sure you have SecuROM from The Sims 2 related games?  Is it possible another game gave you SecuROM?

I'm asking, as this backs up what I've been saying about them putting it in newer copies of older EPs'.

I'm highly suspicious that I have it with my version of Seasons, also with a new copy of Pets, and also with a new base game I needed to buy to replace my broken one.
5  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to get rid of SecuRom, NOW on: 2008 June 13, 06:49:52
Ok, this is the totally innocent, learning on my feet question.. Wouldn't your pc only contain Securom regardless of what you have installed IF you had tried to run your game without the nocd patch?

If I understand this question correctly, we only get SecuROM infection if we run the game from the .exe that comes with the game, if we put a no-cd in place before actually starting the game, we don't get SecuROM.

I installed mine, but quit after each installation, put in the no-cd then ran the game from my desktop shortcut I made using the fixed exec.  I don't have SecuROM.
6  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How to get rid of SecuRom, NOW on: 2008 June 12, 13:12:05
This is a question we're trying to work out over at SAS at the moment, so if someone gets a definite answer, let me know...  However we reached the same conclusion because EA's own information says that they're using Securom for their copy protection and doesn't specify just new games, the conclusion we've reached is that if it's a newly printed game, it likely has Securom on it regardless of which Sims game it is.

To add to this:

I have all EPs', SPs' up to an including FreeTime.
I have just replaced my base CD version with a DVD version, as disk two was scratched and wouldn't install.
I have just won a copy of Pets EP over at the official UK site.

My original base game and original Pets don't contain SecuROM.

My new base and Pets have the words 'Sony DADC' (very small printing) printed on the inner circle on the shiny side of the disks.  It's also printed on my Seasons disk.

Sony DADC are the makers of SecuROM and I can't see Sony implementing a competitors copy protection.  This is just my thought though.

The new Free Time patch.

DO. NOT. WANT.

Well, not untill there's a new nocd crack.
8  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: More Awful than You! May: Clothing Meshes of the Damned on: 2008 May 15, 06:50:02
I've noticed most of Rose's clothes doing this. They look good in pictures, but my Sims tend to, you know, MOVE, so this becomes irrelevant.

That's it, the still pictures don't do the clothing justice.  I would suggest anyone to get that from the booty, and put it in game for the LOLs.  It's available in every category too.
9  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: More Awful than You! May: Clothing Meshes of the Damned on: 2008 May 14, 21:36:16
And all because I want my Sims legs chopped up by their clothing.

I'ts a donation gift.

Before removing custom careers, make sure any Sims in those careers are not at work, and are home.
11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: OKay, Am I retarded? on: 2007 February 03, 15:08:56
Make sure lots and houses are selected in the UI.  Click the house,  the button should be there.  I have all EPs SPs and patches.  Not sure if that is relevent.

If the house is occupied.
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Title Claim on: 2007 February 01, 14:02:11
Actually, I still can't reliably log in to PMBD, not that I particularly want to considering what's happened there.

All the spammers have gone.  I think Piratebooty being a mod has something to do with it.
13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Title Claim on: 2007 February 01, 12:59:27
What about people who couldn't even get on MATY for the donation instructions? Tongue

That is no excuse.  There was a thread on PMBD too.

Unlike the keys above these may of course be specific to my locale.

I checked through all of my registry keys, mine also correspond exactly to the keys quoted above.  So not specific to locale, they are game specific.
15  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Refrigerator restocking bug on: 2006 November 23, 19:02:56
This bug is a major pain in the ass.

Sims used to go to community lots to socialise, pick up groceries while there, the fridge was always stocked.

(Community lot visits were frequent).

One workaround, phone for groceries, see how much to top up, cancel, then visit community lot.

17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BitTorrent clients on: 2006 November 08, 18:52:09
I use winmx, cos its VERY intuitive, which I need.
I've not come accross that client yet, I'll "goggle" it and see what I can find out about it.

If you do wish to give it a go, don't be mislead by the sites, either charging, or asking for signup.  free download and support site.

20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Your Choice Image Editimg Program on: 2006 September 22, 05:41:23
I use a free paint programme called paint.net.

I find it easy to use.  It doesn't have all the features of the expensive varieties, but it does for my needs.

It is what I did my avatar and signature pics with.

Clicky.

25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Thumbnail pictures for face muckup? on: 2006 September 15, 21:04:48
Is it possible to change the thumbnail pictures in the muckup chooser?

I am making contacts, and they all look the same, only the hovertext lets me know what it is.

If this involves using Simpe, then I would need detailed instructions, cos I am quite dense where Simpe is concerned.
