1  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Clean Uberhood (Merged EAxis neighbourhoods) - NOT the same as HP's/Mixreality's on: 2010 August 05, 17:49:41
Been playing the uberhood for about a week and love it, but one snag has come to my attention - when I go to enter the Monty lot in Veronaville, the game crashes. Another person on GardenOfShadows has mentioned the same thing happened to them. I plan on experimenting in the next couple of days to see if I can just move them out and into another house, but thought you should know in case it's the sims and not the lot that's being difficult.

The rest of the hood's been great, though, so thanks for all the hard work putting it together! I'm especially appreciative of all the fixed genetics, like Nervous Subject actually showing a father in his family tree.
2  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Working TSS Coat Hangers on: 2008 September 19, 02:43:18
That is indeed awesome! Yes, it makes no sense whatsoever to add new coat racks that don't work like coat racks. Thanks for the fix!
3  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Apartment Life Borkiness, or how i ended the world in 1 hour. on: 2008 September 16, 05:51:30
I've done a search for this problem in every phrasing I can think of, and nothing related came back except my own earlier mention (I'm repeating because I have more info); apologies if it's been brought up before and I just couldn't think of what it was called.

I'm having a bad bug where a sim on a residential lot, not an apartment, will glitch and start spinning in place, which in turn freezes the whole lot. The lot will still be in live mode, unpaused, but time won't advance and nothing can move. I've tried deleting the spinning sim, saving, exiting, and retentering, and the sim(s) do show up again by the mailbox, but the freeze and spinning don't go away. The only time it did stop was when I deleted everyone - including a roaming ghost - except the toddler, who began to move again. Save, exit. Upon reentering, everyone was there and could move; it was raining and I wanted everyone back in the house, but the child wanted to splash in a puddle. When I canceled it from her queue, she began spinning again. Now, the lot will not finish loading. I have never had this happen before installing AL.

I first thought it was related to the conflict between the CS radio and the crafting bench, as both were present when the first bout occurred (different lot than that above.) But I downloaded the fixed radio and it's still happening. I thought it might be a conflict with TwoJeff's welcome wagon and school friends dialog hacks (which are noted as conflicting with alfixes on his message board,) but I took his entire folder out of my DLs, and it doesn't make a difference. The only hack untested for AL I had in was LizzLove's noprivacy, which was also taken out with TwoJeff's folder and had no effect on the problem. Nothing's left in my hacks except AL-approved mods from here.

Before the lot stopped loading, I managed to get a few seconds' footage of what the spin looks like. The film's crap 'cause I never upped the settings after installing AL, but the gist is there.

Do you have the makeshift castaway stories radio installed in your game? It was just updated yesterday to fix that issue.

Just my luck, it was the day before yesterday that I last checked the CS stuff, but yes, I did/do have it installed, and it was in the house when the weirdness happened. I hadn't seen it happen before installing AL, and came to the wrong conclusion, I see. Thanks! I'm off to redownload.
5  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Apartment Life Borkiness, or how i ended the world in 1 hour. on: 2008 September 11, 21:25:08
I had a bad glitch last night with the toy crafting bench in a residential house (not an apartment.) My sim wanted it, so I bought him one, but it had no options at all. No matter where I clicked, it said "no interactions available". When his kids came home from school, his daughter got caught in a spinning glitch, where she stood in place and just... spun around. It also happened the sim-day before when I tried to use Rebekah's one-tile crib. Both times, I had to exit without saving. But back to the bench. When I reloaded the lot, I didn't buy the bench again, and everything was fine when the kids came home.

I don't have any hacks or CC related to the crafting benches, only a few recolors. Can recolors still cause borkage? I haven't downloaded the CS toy+robot bench.

This same house also had a junker car for fixing up (also from the hobbies > misc. menu,) but the car had all its options on the pie menu. I didn't try any of the other benches for fear of another spinning session. If tight pants are suspected, what sorts of CC would most likely conflict with the benches? I've been all through my downloads, and can't find anything that looks related.

Solowren: I've never seen a Charlatan, either, and I, too, have BV. I can't remember if I tried to reduce the character files in the Program Files folder for the vacation 'hoods, and was thinking that maybe he went with any edits, but that's immaterial - I installed the whole game over again when I got a new laptop, and didn't use any cleaned up or empty templates. He should be there. He just... isn't. Not that it breaks my heart, it's just strange. My sims still get the pick-pocket fear, even though no one's ever encountered the charlatan. It's not like it's knowledge that could spread through gossip when no one's ever experienced it.
7  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Ridiculous 'follow' obsession on: 2008 August 13, 17:17:16
I really don't know what's bringing my wolves. It's an apocalypse lot on dirt terrain - no trees, no bushes, no pond. When the leader of the pack showed up, there was only my founder living there. He just came over and started digging a hole in the far corner. The other two came around before any kids were born.

I didn't use the cleaned-up templates when I installed the game on this laptop.
8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Ridiculous 'follow' obsession on: 2008 August 13, 16:04:50
I was just noticing last night that I hadn't seen any stray animals in a long time - thanks to the mod - but I rather prefer it that way. Seeing strays on the sidewalk, especially when they're dumb enough to pass by when it's raining, guilts me into letting my sims befriend them. No strays, no guilt! I've also noticed, though, that three different wolves have spawned, one leader of the pack and two others. But this is also fine with me, as I like the wolves better than any of the Maxis dogs. Now, if they'd just eat the misplaced double bed on my apocalypse lot so I don't have to cheat and move it, myself and leave the damn cheapest trash can alone...

My toddlers follow their parents a lot, as well, but it hasn't been too annoying. Of course, I made it a bit worse on myself by finding a hack on MTS2 that lets toddlers walk up and down stairs. I got it for the reason professorbutters mentioned: when a bigger sim drags it off for whatever reason and leaves it marooned on a different floor from all its stuff. I prefer to use the toddler blanket or Rebekah's one-tile crib (with the added functions that all toddlers can get in and out, alone) and MsBarrow's feeding bowl. With sleep and eating autonomous, there's nothing to pay attention to toddlers for but aspiration boosts. Success!
9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What's on YOUR Wish List? on: 2008 July 02, 21:38:09
I wish there were a mod to randomly get a monogamous Romance sim, so "romance" would stop being synonymous with "town whore". Say 50 to 70% of the time, while still getting the occasional skank, just fewer of them. Can't a sim still want a ton of romantic interactions without wanting them with every single (and engaged, and married) sim they meet? True, you can get monogamy from a Family sim - most of the time - but that automatically opens the flood door of babyland, which a lot of times, I don't want. More chance for positive "get engaged/married" wants, less "flirt/kiss/woohoo total stranger" wants.
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bork List: Freetime Ed. on: 2008 April 16, 19:07:43
I don't think I've seen this mentioned (apologies if it has been,) and I only just noticed it yesterday:

The new wall phone that came with FT disappears when you put walls down. I had it happen twice on the same lot. It went up and deducted the sixty simoleons from the household, but when I put the walls down to play for a bit, then went back into buy mode to add something else, the phone was gone. The wall panel was open again - it wasn't stuck or invisible, and my sim didn't get the money refunded (she's a challenge sim and quite poor; it's easily to tell when her funds change.) I tried again, and did the same play then remember something else I forgot to buy for the lot. Checked the phone, and it was gone again. No stuck tile, no refund. By contrast, an old-style payphone custom mesh I've had since Pets is on the wall now, and stays put. I haven't tested the modern or base game wall phones to see if they're affected, too. I know the obvious work-around would be to use table-top phones, but it's still not supposed to happen.

Is it supposed to be amusing that I can't see a difference in the 'old' and 'new' pics for Fugly McForehead? The only difference I *can* see is that 'new' version's ears were a fraction lower, which is only going to make his forehead look that much longer  Cheesy
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Should Bigfoot be a walkby/community lot visitor? on: 2008 March 19, 16:23:07
Trying to win the contest against Bigfoot is gonna suck, though, with his maxed skills and all. Even if he burns something, he has the charisma to kiss up to the judges.
13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: EA/Maxis has found the Nvidia problem! on: 2008 March 13, 17:15:40
My spyware program just found, Grokster  listed as a P2P, what is that?

Grokster is a peer-to-peer file sharer, like LimeWire or... um, LimeWire's actually all I use, so I can't think of the others. Anyway, that's what Grokster is, and if I'm remembering it right, it requires you to download something called the GAIN network with it in order to function. It leads to a lot of spyware. So much, that it once choked my old tower to the point that it wouldn't even start. I haven't used Grokster in years.
14  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Holy Palm Trees, Batman! on: 2008 March 10, 22:54:07
I just had that happen, as well.

I started a blank neighborhood with the Desiderata terrain as the base, then used Bluewater for a custom downtown. Upon loading Bluewater for the first time, it was covered in wall-to-wall pine trees and stumps. I easily deleted 1,000 stumps and 5,000 individual little pine trees. Stupid terrain didn't even have the decency to make them less-time-consuming clumps. After the manual deletion, however, neither the trees nor stumps have come back. I've used Bluewater as a sub-hood before, and never had this happen until after installing FT. As in your snapshot, the game populated the terrain with decorations that weren't even in OFB, so I'm highly inclined to blame the bork on FT. Every other time I've used a Maxis terrain in any capacity, it's stripped of the decorations from the pre-made hoods.

The part that made me the maddest was that if I hadn't edited my camera sweep to .90 from the default .35, I never would've found half of those damn decorations. They went all the way to the terrain borders.

Is the constantly-about-to-cry look supposed to be appealing in children? That's usually my cue to get as far away from them as possible.
16  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: More Awful Than You! March: Fugly Models on: 2008 March 06, 05:15:10
Awesome. I was so hoping for ugly kids!  Cheesy

Imma go out on a limb and go ahead and give my personal vote to Oepu's Mother of All Pinched Faces.

MadameUgly: I'm torn between figuring that the Movie Screen Forehead just lowered the features too much in CAS, and chalking it up to the inexplicable (and alarmingly common on TSR) trend of custom hair meshers believing that a woman's hairline starts at the very top of her head. Criminey.
17  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: More Awful Than You! March: Fugly Models on: 2008 March 05, 23:09:06
Strangely enough, the model with the white triangle on her face is based on a real model, Alek Wek:

edit to add a  huge entry from TSR (link only, 'cause it's, well, huge.)

From Alyosha: http://isp.thesimsresource.com/images/672/672148.jpg
(not the ugliest group ever, but something is definitely wrong with the face sculpts and choice of skintones.)
18  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Crib for the Economically Disadvantaged on: 2007 November 08, 03:09:43
So what would you use as a changing table with this one? A big crate?

It's a baby in a drawer - I'm guessing there aren't many more funds available for a changing table, either. Pity sims aren't smart enough to just use a counter or desk. Although a changing crate and crib crate are kind of missed opportunities for the crate furniture Dr. Pixel made. Of course, if you're running Seasons, you don't need a changing table at all anymore. Diapers compost just like any other trash.

Woo, I have a submission!
From 'parisrox' on TSR:

I have pride flag paintings in my game, but there are limits. A lot of creators on TSR just never seem to notice them.

Her profile page sheds more light that she probably wants it to, and also shows her "hott rainbow skins". Gah. Please tell me this is disqualified for being the elaborate joke of someone who isn't really that vapid.
20  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: Apr "More Awful Than You" CC Treasure Hunt: Whore Clothes on: 2007 April 06, 00:46:19
From Recomecar at TSR, only the most sensible of winterwear:

Not as whorish as they come, but certainly up there on the stupidity factor.
21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is anyone else having this much problems with flashing blue accessories in p on: 2007 March 30, 17:47:55
Drat. I played for a bit last night, and to experiment, made a vampirized Sephiroth. He's asleep in his closed basement coffin, and his fangs are hovering above it, flashing like his last mortal meal was a radioactive blueberry pie. Not exactly the best way to instill terror into the neighborhood.
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is anyone else having this much problems with flashing blue accessories in p on: 2007 March 25, 23:30:05
I got that problem after Pets, too, so much so that I mostly gave up on using any accessories like that. I was having the same deal of a sim crouching down, but the blue accessories staying at standing level. I know I'm only using an integrated Raedon Xpress M200, but come on! I haven't tried any necklaces or such since installing Seasons, so I haven't seen if it's still persisting for me.

24  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: TUTORIAL: Merging the Maxis neighborhoods. on: 2007 January 09, 22:13:57
My Mergeville is still working fine, but I have a question before I do something I oughtn't:

I see that any more Downtowns should not be added (thankfully, I like the default DT terrain, especially with camera hacks that let you see all of it,) but can a Business District be added safely? I've added one University campus, and haven't encounted any problems - it is correct to assume one BD would be just as seamless?
25  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Weivtnasaelp: a reversed Pleasantview on: 2006 December 29, 21:40:03
I'm dyin' for this zip to finish downloading!  Grin I'll have to extract some of the BWV people to add in, as well. I'm suddenly morbidly curious about what Malcom Langraab IV would look like as a woman...
