I have no plans to install/play TS3, tho I will aarquire it (just to show my displeasure with EAxis) and then let it sit and seed for a few weeks. As for Downtown, I rarely have sims living there, tho the two times I did, i tried out the "House of Fallen Trees" (The Ancestral home of the Tricou's, and it has those graves that'd have to be dealt with). I do remember laughing when i first moved in tho, i expected lavish furnishings, and the kitchen had a cardtable for a dining area. hur The rest of the homes don't seem to have any extra 'ground' space to do anything with. 35 King Street (and 107 Custer Boulevard - looks like the same type of home/different furnishings maybe) are kinda interesting, but i hated the floor plans. (Edit: I was ninja'd on this last paragraph.) For Bluewater Village? There's always that Purple Monstrosity on 407 Edgewater Parkway (that EAxis completely messed up by having part of one outside wall of a completely different color and a room on the 3rd floor that has no door). Big yard/pond/several decks/balconys.. 2nd Edit: We could have a 'special' rule for that Purple home. A P&L at EAxis, one outside wall MUST be of a completely different color/texture/whatever. The most mismatched, the better.

I'd like to see what other players do with their "4 Danish Drive", the original 'Duplex' from Academie Le Tour. I always end up either demolishing one of the homes, or just plopping a foundation between them and make something waaay to big for my needs. I know the grounds have no challenges (there is a path in the back), but I'm sure some restrictions could be implemented.

... I've tried several hacks but they didn't work out right. The BRY one you have here is slightly confusing and the links for the hacks you need to go with it are broken. I tried to use it but it just made things worse and it messed up my landlords on the apartment lots, made them act like visitors. I have a feeling you have hacks from several different modders still in your game. Check out Paladin's Hack Conflict Detection Utility (google is your friend) and check to see if the hacks you are using, play nice together. But i have a feeling they're conflicting, which WILL cause problems. Your new BFF is Pescado (give him a cuddly hug, he loves it), and then add in other hacks that fit your style, that won't conflict with his.

Four. I want my moons back, dammit!
Heh, at first I wasn't interested but now I am. Five. I want my moons back too, I miss the occasional mooning sometimes. I'm jumping on the "There's A Whole World Out There" bandwagon. Pre-Seasons, half of my age transition pics included the moon(s) in the background. :: sniff, sniff :: Me so sad.

All patched, but I have one question: Does Deluxe come with the NL and/or Uni patches? It told me I don't have NL, and Uni was the only one I got a "U NEED THE CD" message for, and I don't have the CD on hand.
I do know that the 'Specially packed' games are odd. I have the Sims2 Holiday Edition for my base game and every time I re-install, my Univ EP always comes up as patched, even tho all the rest of the EP's patch just fine.

FYI. I finally fixed this. Intelliguard on Spyware Doctor was preventing a write to the Sims 2 save files on both the neighborhood and individual lot level by the game.
That was the add-on, i just couldn't remember the name. I didn't know how to do the exception bit so i just scraped the program and got something else. Thanks for the info. As for those hoods effected, those were deleted during my last re-install to try to fix my buggy babbies/transitions. At that point, no-one seemed to have a clue why my stuff was bugging, so in frustration i deleted all backups i had on my computer of TS2 and started off fresh. No idea now how i stumbled on that Spyware Doctor bit, i guess in my state of absolute relief, i just mentally blocked out the pertinent information.

Does it drive anyone else crazy to watch someone else play The Sims? It drives me nuts to see someone else controlling the camera and settling on things that I'm uninterested in. I found myself, while watching a lot of these designer walkthroughs, trying to fix the camera angle/position, hahahaha.
What drives me bonkers about those designer walkthroughs, is when you hear a Sim in the background do the "YooHoo" yell, because their path is blocked. For the life of me, i can't fathom ANYONE purposely putting up with a completely Vanilla game for any length of time, without going insane.

Okay, like wow, this is gonna sound wierd, but let me report what happens. I have John pull out a Golden book, set it down. Put both Golden book/Ed bookcase in inv. I have John pull out a reg book and set it down. Put back the Golden book and Ed. Bookcase. Now have both types of loose books / bookcases Direct John to study the reg 3 via normal bookcase, no problem, he goes and gets the loose regular book. Direct John to study the reg 3 via Ed. bookcase, he goes and gets the loose regular book. Direct John to study the 4 via the Ed. bookcase, with both books available, he fetches the loose Golden book, and it disappears. Only loose book now available is the reg book, direct John to study the 3 via the Ed. bookcase or reg bookcase, and everything is okay. Only loose book is reg book, direct John to study the 4 via Ed. bookcase, and it too disappears. Once all loose books are gone, John is able to get a new Golden book, and only uses it no matter which bookcase i click on. Edit: (BTW, John got dizzy what with all the fetch/put down, turn around, fetch, etc)

John Burb actually did a little dance after he realized that he went to a loose Ed. Book to study one of those 4 skills, instead of getting yet another book out. (In other words, it now works perfectly). And I'm having the time of my life (seriously) testing this for you. (Exuberant Baaing, Bleating, Mooing and Clucking while smashing the thanks button).

Well, it sorta works for me. John no longer error's when getting a Golden book out to skill those 4. He'll go and get a loose Golden Book for the regular 3, but he now goes and gets a different book if i direct him to study the 4 with a loose one on the floor. (If that makes any sense?)

Sorry you couldn't replicate my error. Just to be sure it wasn't a conflict with something else i might have, i removed the entire TheSims2 folder, let the game create a new one. Stuck in the 'testing cheat' startup config (that's the only thing i have in it), got your latest updated bookshelf hack, pes's batbox/macro/stuck-object remover, and drafted the Burb's into being my "volunteer's". Gave them career's/rewards via shift-click on the newspaper, and John still error's out while attempting to study any of those 4 skills on the Education Bookcase (which shows the Golden/special cover in my game). It didn't matter if i had a normal bookcase/loose books or not. Errored while getting a Ed book (for those 4 skills only - other 3 are fine) errored if trying to get a loose Ed book - which disappears. Thanks for trying tho. Attaching the latest error log from John Burb and clean NH. I only have the EP's up to Seasons (no Pets) plus FFS SP. My base game is the Holiday Edition (which shouldn't make a difference, tho BlueSoup and I did find at least 1 Base Game object that i don't have, so maybe there are other differences). One last edit - i phailed miserably trying to get a pic to show, so I'll just put a link to it instead, showing the Golden book. http://www.flickr.com/photos/23509924@N03/3362763923/

The Education bookshelf has special books, doesn't it? Does this happen when there are regular books discarded nearby, special Education bookshelf books discarded nearby, or no books discarded nearby? Or in all cases?
Yes, special books as in those loose Golden books tie in with the skilling attributes of the bookcase itself, tho if you stick a loose book in inv, take it to a lot without the bookcase, it's just a regular book (from what I've read, I've yet to actually try it). If there's a loose Education book, they'll attempt to pick it up, error out and the book disappears. They error on both the bookcase (if no loose Ed books) and the loose Ed books. Regular books work fine, tho I'll test to see what they do if both kinds of books are loose. They might just go to the nearest one, but I'll let you know. Edit with Results of Test: Okay, even with both kinds of loose books on the floor, they error out while trying to study Logic/Body/Charisma/Creativity (the mod directed my test subject to the loose Ed book, even tho the reg book was closer). If i direct them to study the other 3 skills, it works fine no matter which bookcase/loose book i direct them to. (And this i didn't know, if there was only a loose regular book, they can still study the 4 skills using it, as long as the Ed bookcase was on the lot-or at least, with your mod, they attempt to pick it up).

I liked your idea for the bookshelf hack, so they use discarded books first, but I'm getting a "hit break point primitive' error when my sims attempt to study using the Education bookshelf/books from Seasons, for Logic/Body/Charisma/creativity. It works fine for the normal cook/mech/clean tho on the Education bookshelf. I'll attach an error log in case it might help.

If I move them in the normal manner, will they lose the charter and have to re-establish the whole Greek house thing all over again (re-pledge all the members etc?), or can they move and just carry on from where they left off?
I knew this answer at one time but I've forgotten it, so i ran a quick test. If i try to move all the playable sims out of a Greek house, a warning box comes up that says that house will loose it's Greek House status once it's empty. When i have 1 YA move out, but leave one there, the moved out YA can move back once it's placed in another university house/dorm, but I'm unable to move him into a Greek house directly from the NH Sim bin, even tho he's still a Greek member

That only happens once, on the first day of excessive newspaperage. It seems unnecessary to spend the effort maintaining a hack that would get rid of a dialog you'll only see once per fambly, evar. [/quote
Which brings up another related question. What brings up that 'Too many newspapers' dialog, when there aren't enough newspapers sitting around. Does the game count papers in trashcans/composter (that have not been composted), for the 3+, yet still sends a 12 to deliver a new one?]

I do not understand a thing about seasons, what is that new bar that is over by their picture, it has no description of it, it is a little bar and two of my sims have red ones and two of them have green ones.
That bar is the your sims temperature gauge. If it's red, they are too hot. Green is normal, bluish/gray and they are too cold.

I've had switched outfits two times in the last few days. Married adults transitioning to Elder at the exact same time, the Clothing Tool pops up to give them new options on clothes. The other was twins transitioning to teen and i have them both get new outfits from the Clothing Tool at the same time.

This might be an off-the-wall suggestion, but check your anti-virus/spyware programs. If they're running actively in the background, they may be interfering by corrupting character data. Do a search in your The Sims2 folder and look for TempDBSegmentPackedFiles. From my understanding, those files are generated by the game as error reports. Either generated when the game crashes, or when character/lot/NH files aren't being saved properly. In my case, SpywareDoctor was causing corruption of character data, which was the cause of my disappearing infants during Save and borked age transitions. It started off small, a couple of missing infants out of the 5th gen. births in my Medieval hood, but by the end, i was losing every single infant. New re-installs/new NH's/empty Downloads, it made no difference. Borked toddler/child/teen/YA transitions or disappearing infants were constant.
