1  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Plots / Re: Frank Lloyd Wright's Robie House on: 2011 July 05, 14:00:38

However the hallways and most of the other spaces of that house seem unnecessarily large though.... I'd say those would be an extra waste of time if anything.

I agree; it was a challenge to use up the available space, and I gave up by the time I got to the basement, which is enormous.  Apparently the building was used as a married student dorm in the 20's.

The Robie House by Frank Lloyd Wright, redone as a Sims 3 house. The interior makes no attempt to duplicate the interior of the original, but is rather an Awesomized lot with a multi-sprog pod, skillination zone, and high-quality appliances.

I have had some problems with routing in the petite houses near the trailer park.  Sims don't seem to want to use the two-tile half floors in order to go upstairs.  When extended to four tiles, they work just fine.

Night Racer:  Attractive.  Can't say much more than that, not having TS3.

Minena, your house is gorgeous in almost every detail.  That living room floor, however, is so bad that at first I couldn't see the elegance of everything else.

Cianne, I like your layout from a technical point of view but the style leaves something to be desired.  The downstairs is fine, but the exterior is bland and the upstairs looks like you just phoned it in.   Too much of the original walls and floors can be seen in your design, in my opinion.

Prosthetics, your second house feels somewhat uninspired to me.  I like what there is, I just don't feel like there's enough of it.  My personal preference is for more ornamentation.  I liked your first roof better -- I think you didn't give that attempt enough credit.  A bit plain, but structurally it was good, and the color palette was much nicer.  Your third house blew me away.  Love at first sight. Much better work, and more cohesive in ambience.

Chobeegal, truly stunning interior.  The exterior seems a little plain in back, but only in comparison to the exquisite detail of the interior.  I have some concerns about the layout, but if it works it's quite a clever way of fitting so much into the house.

Sipu, your entry is quite lovely -- clean and airy.  Clever use of space.

Because of the palm tree and the pond, I thought of an oasis in the middle of a desert.  I made a little oasis for a small, young family of generous means (~88K wanded).  It's designed to blur the distinction between inside and outside, offering the advantages of the outdoors without all that pesky nature, or the oppressive heat.  Most of the viewing deck is technically considered a greenhouse by the game, despite the solid look.

I believe the house is mostly awesomespec, but deviates in the placement of nursery & skillination zones, which are scattered around rather than being on the viewing deck.  The nursery is only designed to accomodate one sprout, but could be modified to support two separate crib rooms in an emergency by sacrificing/moving the changing table and smart milk counter.  Alternatively, it could be replaced with a kids' bedroom containing two beds.

Here's a teaser to get you to click the link to the slideshow:

And here's the house itself.
