1  TS4: The Pee-ening / Insert Amusing Name Here / Regarding Dirty Dishes Off Lot Bug on: 2015 March 26, 08:40:17
Thought I'd post it here since I don't feel like making accounts on other sim forums and I haven't seen a solution anywhere else, but I have a workaround that's a bit unconventional for annoying dirty dishes left on the edges of the world and cannot be thrown away/cleaned because there's no trashcan/sink. In my game the lot did not reset regardless of traveling, clearing caches, restarting the game, nor did they ever disappear eventually and testing cheats had no option for me to delete/nuke them. Anyway, my workaround if you have the same problem:

Enable testingcheats {on/true}
shift+click a trash can (preferably public one) and set it as your sim's head. Now your sim's head is trash can, but don't worry if you don't find this amusing.
Have your sim run to a location nearby said dirty dishes.
shift+click your sim and reset them. Now their head should no longer be a trash can, and the trashcan is set nearby.
Click on dirty dishes and throw them away.
Now there's a random trashcan somewhere unless you strategically placed your sim to reset them (mine is along the sidewalk, although diagonal) but the offended dirty dishes are now gone.

Also, if your sim is in a room that you've combed through and is spotless, but they keep saying it's dirty, simply go to the main menu or restart the game and go back and look around; you may find "dust piles" that were not there before that need to be cleaned up. Don't ask me what they are, but they were definitely not there or were selectable before restarting the game.

The Sims 4 is buggy as hell but these are a few things that were manageable. Fill free to post this workaround in more Sim 4 enthused forums where it will be more useful. I would have posted it in the bug thread but I don't know what the rules are for necromancy anymore so here it is.

$90 going to you for being more awesome than me.

And while I'd like to see cwurts back in the dome, I also kind of want that cool useless title, so whatever the FOJ feels like is okay with me.
Or redome the woodyc guy. Or just the title.

Edit: Let's just go with a title.
4  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: THE MUNICIPALITY NEEDS YOU! SUPPORT THE MUNICIPALITY! on: 2014 April 26, 15:32:34
So I don't have paypal, but I know someone I can pay back to bum off their paypal, so a donation will be coming by later today or tomorrow since I've been lurking here since practically forever and find the site extremely useful, especially awesomemod.

But I was wondering what was the amount for Countess? Or Viscountess? I won't be able to donate too much, but deep down I've always wanted a title (I know they're silly and useless or whatever, but still.) I tried searching for that one post about the different titles but couldn't find it.

FWIW, if you wanted the CAS filter for faster loading, using Twallan's Master Controller has options to "show in compact form" as well as totally customize the filters you can choose to view in CAS. You'd need Master Controller Integration for it to show up in the normal game setup (versus using the Nraas prompts.)

You can get more information on the Nraas wiki > Master Controller > Interactions. If you have questions about it, ask there.
6  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Bug Report Thread on: 2014 April 22, 00:08:43
I have been using that version of AM with 1.67 game version without any core mismatch errors.  Is your game at 1.67 or still at 1.66?  Might the the problem.
D'oh! Looking back at my files, it seems I had downloaded the latest patch but never actually installed it. The core-mismatch bit is PEBCAK so just ignore that.
Tuning the XML seems easy enough, I'd just rather wait for the FOJ's version, since whatever I'll do will never be as awesome.

On a somewhat unrelated note since necromancy is bad, while I know Pescado is busy with the site, expiring AM and all, but I'm curious if he could add the function "nukeworld university" as an experiment? Although if he no longer wants to support awesomemod anymore I'd understand if that's not doable, since there'd be essentially no debugging, but I'd be happy to test it since removing foreignia seems to work fine and I'm sure it should work for university and other destinations. It's just the stupid minicharacters still exist after nuking the other files. And I fully acknowledge beforehand that my game may end up a BFBVFS if he adds that function and I use it, and if he no longer updates AM that I'm left with whatever it is I'm left with.

Edit: Comma splices are bad.
Edit: Really bad.
7  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Bug Report Thread on: 2014 April 21, 15:40:36
Hello Mr. Pescado,
I got an expiration message today (04/28/2014). I don't know what your plans are but if you ceased to update this mod could you please remove the expiration? Otherwise we'd end up with unplayable worlds because we had to uninstall awesomemod.

I'm actually getting this too using the awesomemod modified 2/9/2014 at 3:36AM. This is the only version I can download from the thread (second mirror) as the alpha mirror and urls all give me error 404, or that the droids I'm looking for are not there. This has been happening since the site was down for some time earlier this year, and just chalked it up to that.

I've also been getting the "core-mismatch" error even though I'm fully updated with my Nraas mods and the game, but have been playing the game smoothly with this version of awesome thus far, so have decided not to touch anything else. However, I remember prior to the site going down that I was using a version of awesome that did not give me that error with my current setup, but seeing that I began nuking old versions of awesomemod a while back, I could not revert to whatever awesome version that was.

So I guess I'm just wondering what is the latest version of awesome supposed to be? (And if it's not the 2/9/2014 one, if they could post it before the expiry?)
8  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Sims 3 Pets- Whats borked thread on: 2011 November 20, 19:17:39
I don't wonder so much about the game developers, since bugs come with the job, but it does worry me that there is absolutely no testing done before they release this crap. For that I blame EA's Sims Division manager or whatever entity is making them shit out games every 6 months. (leaving very little time for any kind of rigorous, meaningful testing.)

For example, my sim resets every time s/he throws food to their dog. A goddamn feature of the stupid game is broken, and they would have caught that had they bothered to test it.

But since removing the celestial salt lick, I no longer have about 20 "Zenyettas" on my lawn, in the house, blocking the gates/doors, toilet, etc. so thanks so much for that information.
9  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Bug Report Thread on: 2011 November 18, 20:24:27
I'm using the 11/16 17:18 build and haven't gotten any errors so far, but I do want to say that I'm with the group of people whose Hand of God function is broken. And for whatever reason, the game doesn't autosave either. The config is set to "on" for both.

I do have Twallan's MasterController, Overwatch, and ErrorTrap (not traveler, or whatever)--though I was using those (updated) in conjunction with Awesomemod until the second to last build, which I believe is what caused those Awesome features to stop functioning.

Just thought I'd put that out there.
10  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Odd Sims 3 sound issue on: 2011 October 26, 03:19:10
I do think the issue has to do with bike ownership. Even if your active family does not have a bike/motorcycle/stroller, if anyone in the neighborhood has one the sound gets messed up like that.

At least, the neighborhood I made has no bikes etc. in it and I have not seen this problem again. But if I play one of the pre-made expansion 'hoods, then the problem arises. It started when I saw my Sims using their bikes, but then after a while I stopped seeing the bike in it's "spot" and it wasn't in the Sims' inventory. The bike becomes invisible, but parked. Sometimes during re-load, I see the bike again. Deleting the bike, and the bike station alleviates the problem.

I say stroller because it's in that group of objects. It's a bug within the game, not necessarily your computer. Though checking if your drivers are updated can't hurt either.

Just a word on my observations. I thought Awesomemod had a fix for it but maybe the new expansion/patch borked it again.

This forum actually rewards jerk-ish behavior, so I guess you're in the wrong place. And we punish people who ask "simple questions," I guess you can think of this as a place for more "advanced" questions. MATY has standards, you know.

Run away little n00b, and please stop posting here until you figure out exactly what this place is about. Just like if you walk into another country you have to abide by their laws, when you post in a forum on the internet, you have to abide by theirs. Obviously you didn't read the FAQ or lurk enough to learn how to behave/post.

Of course, you can continue being all butthurt for more LULZ. That's acceptable.
12  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Pudding Factory is for downloads: put your lame requests & WCIFs here on: 2011 September 20, 02:04:39
SIM REQUEST. Ok so I requested this maybe a year or 2 ago and had no takers. I tried to make it on my own but it didn't come out.... :/ So I was hoping somebody would take the challenge this time? Please?

I want the supermodel Ana Beatriz Barros (Alessandra Ambrosio's best friend) in sim form. If you need any other pictures feel free to let me know. I would really love to have this sim in my game so I'm hoping somebody will make her for me.

Thanks

I'd try finding someone at ModTheSims and PM-ing a request to them. I mean, really what they do there is [free] custom content.
Also try posting in their feedback forums, they might be able to help you there too.
13  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Error codes 12 and 13 along with crashing. on: 2011 September 20, 02:01:10
Wow, necromancy much?

Error 12 is a RAM issue. Don't wait too long in between saves, don't make lakes too deep, and don't put too much crap on a single lot.
Overwatch cleans up crap so it can help, but also try setting an autosave feature (either twallan's or Awesomemod's) to a shorter time period. Also try to choose "Save as..." and re-naming it something different.
If you have too many memories, try to cut back on them, or annihilate non-sacred sims to minimize the space needed to save the neighborhood.

I was sure the topic of Error 12 was figured out already, but maybe I'm mistaken.
14  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Forcetwins not working? on: 2011 August 01, 00:16:24
I thought that cheat was for TS2?

TS3 is pretty easy to manipulate whether your sim has twins/triplets or not. I think you give them the fertility treatment, or have the mother listen to a lot of kids music/watch kids shows while pregnant. The family-oriented trait helps too I think.
I don't think I've ever used "forcetwins" in TS3; but combining the above works really well to get multiples.
15  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: new patch 1.24 on: 2011 July 26, 16:26:47
yeah i guess i should have come here first cuz i got the file error message & ended up just uninstalling & reinstalling everything. all 8 of the sims 3 games..yeah 4 hours of "fun"..lol..but it works fine now with the new patch.lol
Nice story, bro.
Now read the FAQ and learn to use the shift key. lol.

The "moveobjects" fix for boarding school has worked for both child and teen for me with no issues.

FWIW, whenever MTS gets it together again, there's a mod out now that limits/obliterates memories. It's been working perfectly for me especially now that my game's not so darn bloated.
Found it through Crinrict's blog; link to the download is there for whenever MTS is up and running again:

What about using decorative tombstones with no ghosts attached to them?  Or do you want to keep the "Mourn" interaction?
I kind of wanted to keep the whole family together, as I am attempting to see how many "generations" I can go before my file turns into a BFBVFS this EP around...
There's this old mod here: http://modthesims.info/download.php?t=356064 However, no idea if it still works with Generations, I haven't tested it yet. It worked with LN though.
The mod doesn't seem to cause any problems with Generations, and I can tell that the ghosts are showing up a lot less. However, when they do show up, they still never go the fuck away. I'll look into the files and tweak it some more, but it's much easier to reset one sim at a time rather than five. They just keep taking food and baths when the other sims are trying to get ready for work or whatever. Must be some sort of bug I've picked up somewhere, I'll test it on another file to be sure, but this hack does alright for now--so thank you.

EDIT: Miniscule formatting fail. Bah.
18  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Pudding Factory is for downloads: put your lame requests & WCIFs here on: 2011 June 18, 19:18:12
Well, I tried google and MATY, I attempted Mod The Sims also but their site is crapping out on me, so sorry for not being able to find something like this but...

WCIF a hack that will force ghosts to go back to the netherworld when it's daytime (every time)? I've been resetting the sims but every time they come out they never go back in the morning, and it's ridiculous to keep having to do this every time for every ghost. "Well why don't you just put the grave in the graveyard?" Well, it's the Goth family and they need the cemetery in their front lawn. Also, EA fails for not putting more aggressive code for this kind of shit anyway.

If awesomemod has a function I don't know about, fill free to let me know although I looked through the "help" menu and didn't see anything that looked relevant. I did try fixall and that didn't do anything.
19  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Next Expansion Pack will have Pets in it and here is proof on: 2011 June 01, 03:57:07
Well, there was coding for seasons found in Ambitions (possibly earlier, can't remember) with the fog emitter, and obviously the expansion after that included seasons... oh wait.

And if they brought back the guinea pig disease and made it actually deadly and contagious, that would be cool. Wouldn't count on it though.
20  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Random jingle on: 2011 June 01, 03:48:15
IIRC it's the sound that's played when someone joins a profession (versus a normal job.)

I suppose since you started playing Twinbrook, the game probably assigned the other premades professions like stylist or something, and so it notified you even when you're not playing that family. It shouldn't happen with story progression off (if you have Awesomemod at least, which fixes the crappy EA Story progression.)
21  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Help me please, for I am stupid - crash issues on: 2011 May 14, 01:56:15
Are you sure it's Awesomemod? Because live-mode only crashing typically means that your game needs MOAR RAMS. Have you installed another EP or SP lately?

Try searching for how to add the game to the DEP Exception list. Granted you have more than 2 GB of RAM to begin with... and a PC. If not, you need a new computer, or ask one of the Mac people for that. And if that doesn't fix it, or you've already added the game to the DEP Exception list, then I'm going to blame it on tight pants.
22  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: The TS3 Store: post your questions, updates, and tech help here on: 2011 May 09, 04:04:22
Here's a .package format of the May2011 stuff, including the generations crap if anyone wants it. Although like someone mentioned, for some reason, the phone doesn't work. Everything else shows up and is operable, at least in my game.

23  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Mac help for a noob on: 2011 February 26, 03:18:57
If you want to use the new method, the cfg file will need to be altered and the mods folder moved.  YOU CAN NOT GO MIXING THE TWO DIFFERENT FRAMEWORKS.  A hybrid system won't work right, choose one or the other.  Both methods are clearly explained on this site.

I use both frameworks too. I use the /Program Files/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3 directory specifically for Awesomemod because it's my core mod; the other framework for objects/combined .package store stuff so I don't have to uninstall them every time I patch or get a new expansion. So... yeah. It works.
24  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Annoying Centaur Body Problem on: 2011 January 08, 20:56:42
From how I understand it the caches are like merged package files. It helps make the game run faster because then it's looking at information in one place, rather than lots of little places. The people at EA probably assumed people won't be stupid enough to download or even create such crap, but they're not concerned with bugs or CC as much as making money.

Either way, installing from the launcher is dead, except for .worlds. It's much more controlled if you manually merged .packages yourself, and kept back up of what you're installing, and re-name them if it's a large string of random characters. And have more quality control of who and where you're downloading from-- you're putting this shit on your computer (and in your game) for fucks sake.
25  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Late Night bugs & annoyances on: 2011 January 08, 04:13:02
It's not that cheat; Noenmity doesn't know what he's talking about by trying to say his correlation implies causation.

It's a routing issue. Twallan's Overwatch mod (if you're willing to get another mod-- does not conflict with Awesomemod, but it is complex, but does lots of town maintenance) http://ts3.tscexchange.com/index.php?topic=4685.0 fixes the gathering issues. It also regularly cleans up all the vehicles Late Night decided to throw in, causing lags. If you're having issues with that mod, post over there.

As messed up as the BBS is, here's an extensive post about Late Night issues by Crinrict where he mentions the Overwatch fix of this issue: http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/281359.page <-- also mentions a shit load of other issues in Late Night as well. Found it through googling. Which really isn't that hard, but I'm bored and feeling generous.

And the thing you were wondering about the "fixall" notice in skill modifiers is that LN somehow messes up how sims skill up (or something to that effect; anyway, it bothered Pescado somehow) and so that fixes that particular issue. It's fairly self-explanatory.
