I was wondering if there was a mod to remove those horrible sounds from trying to place a door or window in build mode? I really don't know if that is a mod that would be too complex or not. It makes me crazy when I'm building. Especially when I have the "Move objects" cheat on.
I made a mod for this. To use it, turn your speakers all the way down when you're in Build Mode, then turn them up again when you start to play your Sims. It works really nicely and is compatible with all the expansions.

I know at least one person DID create a new "skin" for the SimBot, but I can't remember which site it's on.  I know this answer is about as helpful as a squashed bug, but at least I'm trying to be more helpful than some others on here. LOL.

I wish I knew the site, too, because I want to download it. I hate how creepy the SimBot looks.  I also hate when they watch TV, but there's nothing I can do about that except by micro-managing the dang thing.

FYI:  I've discovered this mod is not compatible with Ambitions.  At first it seems to work OK, but the sculpting platform-thing becomes unclickable and the "dabble" option on the inventor's bench stops working. When I take out this mod, those items work fine.  When I put this mod in again, they stop working. Just wanted to let you know.

It was my favorite mod for World Adventures, though.

So i skimmed this thread first and found that dbc is the ideal format for EA store stuff. Then i followed the directions in this thread:,17707.0.html to create and install dbc, but nothing will show up in game.
FYI:  I never use dbc files and all my custom content shows up in the game and works great with both Ambitions and World Adventures installed.  I use package files.  I've used S3pe to combine a lot of package files, and my game plays fast and quite smoothly. I'm not sure why people don't use package files.  They work perfectly once you learn how to combine/merge them with s3pe to avoid lag, and that's only necessary if you have more than 400 package files or so.  Using s3pe is easy once you learn how. I don't see the need to use dbc files at all.  I haven't had any problem at all using package files, and I have both expansions and am all the way patched up.

You'll need to set up your game files (framework) differently to use custom content with Ambitions and its related patches.  You will need the new resource file that you can find at Mod the Sims to use custom content with Ambitions and the newest patch.  You can find it (and how to set the new framework up) here:

AloeOwl, I have a degree in Journalism and have worked (at separate times) as both a reporter and a copy editor.  Even I think you went overboard with your grammar and spelling "corrections."  I can't believe you took a passage from someone who wrote in present tense and "corrected" it so it was in past tense.  What a rude, moronic thing to do.

Not AwesomeMod related.  I don't have AM and this is how my game is, too.  It's the game.

When I was trying to download Sims 3 Reloaded before I gave in and bought a legal copy, I kept getting downloads that either contained or were entirely viruses.
I suspect that EA themselves put out these torrents. Seeding the web with copies that will put a virus on your computer is a lot cheaper than taking all the pirates to court for copyright violation and whatnot. I think that's EA's version of stickin' it to the pirates. I wouldn't be surprised if they came onto this forum and uploaded dangerous versions of Store content here.

Introducing - Shop Mode! You heard right folks. The December update will introduce a button that will allow you to shop from The Sims 3 Store from inside your game.
Wow, whoever wrote this almost made that sound like a good thing. I'm unsure if I should praise his/her talent for euphemisms or wish him/her to suffocate on something. Well, probably the former ... then the latter.
LOL!!! It makes me think of a frozen dinner I got once that said in very large letters on the package "ONLY 700mg OF SODIUM!!!  Obviously this is a huge amount of salt for a single meal, but they were marketing it as if being loading with salt is a good thing. EA is employing the same tactic, apparently. I don't want the retarded Shop Mode, either.  It sounds awful.  It sounds like it will cause more problems.

Really nice. Great work! I'm so glad someone besides Sims Resource is still doing Sims 3 patterns. This one is wonderful.

Hey! I think your Spock eyebrows are absolutely great. Love them!

Your Spock brows were just showcased on this blog, by the way:
You're famous!
