Now that I can be exact: View distance is the first one inline= it is NOT holding the setting.
Fade distance IS holding it's setting. EDIT: this is confirmed.

"...distance setting stayed....the other didn't"  As you look at the options for the view in the panel the first setting to do with the view is 'the other' that one I know defaulted back. I believe the last setting in that line 'the distance' stayed. I think this because I know that first setting is defaulting to 'small' and I keep trying to set it to 'large.' I THINK the last setting, 'the distance' is staying because I was choosing 'large' and it is still set at large. |

MAXIOD: Ok.replacing the xml didn't work either. Two settings on the view one is the distance and the other is.....the other I noticed, but can't swear to it, the distance setting stayed the other didn't. Anther question: is there any limit to the number of tiers for the organizing of the downloads folder? |

The "View Distance" option in Lot View Options won't stay correct. It defaults back to Medium view evey time I restart the game, no matter how many times I save with it on Extra Large.  The others stay just fine. I've noticed this as well. All the new graphic option will return to default when you re enter the game. Note that the default option will be different for each pc, because when you start the game it checks your graphic card capabilities and sets those preferences according to it. Can you check in your userProps.xml file (in My Docs\...\Config\) contains options like these: enableLotImpostersInLot enableNeighborhoodOccupantsInLot lotSkirtSizeIncrease neighborhoodPropFadeDistance clickableLotImposters They should be there after you play the game, tweak some options, and then quit gracefully. The file should also be marked writable. Me too. Settings don't take. I thought maybe they might be hood or lot specific but they aren't and yes I found the stuff you listed here in the config xml file. Wanna see the file? |

The Great Spirits say not even they know if Jm's hacks will work with NL. They don't know if NL wil work at all. They DO know that JM will fix whatever the hell he feels like fixing when he wants to fix it.
In short: Don't worry about it. JM is sure to come up with some swell, game improving hacks when the time comes.

Well shucky darn. I would really like to get rid of them, they have about a hundred family members each, maybe more! They are the bulk of the files in my hood.
After reading this thread, I had the chance to ask a maxiod if Maxis had set upper limits on the number of sims one can have in a hood. He said nope, they set no such limit. That the game can have ...oh gosh I think he quoted 4ooo sims the game does start to act up a nd do weird things, but anything like a thousand sims should play just fine.

So, after reading this thread I guess it would be ok to just go delete those annoying Maxis families Livingston and Baena? IS that the right spelling? I never play them, talk to them, look at them. I hate them. The families are extremely large and useless.
So is it safe to delete them, JM?

Doesn't seem very automatic or consistent: Rentech claims my posting privileges were revoked awhile ago. Now she's claiming I *DO* have posting privileges, and that I actually posted that post, which I didn't. Furthermore, the timestamp of "my" last login coincides fairly exactly with aforementioned last message. Except that I can't login, because my password has been reset as of the above attempt to verify previous statement.Rentech. It was the Hackers..... right? |

In other news, it has now been brought to my attention that Rentech has been writing board posts in my name on rentech.com now. This post was not written by me. It is not officially or unofficially endorsed or approved by me, and does not represent the opinions of either myself or More Awesome Than You. Note that I'm still banned, although Rentech has taken to being much less subtle about it by force-setting my rep to 5 red. Amusing. And Rentech is now posting her own posts under my name, presumably to then complain that I've written something inappropriate. Oh Now! That IS funny! ROFL! |

So maybe NL will address this "too many iterations"... Ok. Proabably not.
I am looking forward to NL. I know I have no 'real life' life..... But so what, I deal with it. I am looking forward to all it's new features to explore and then to see what everyone creates off of these.
I have one main hood (and I kept Strangeville to use as my experimental grounds) I will load the game up (after creating backups) and have at it. I will expore the Maxis city, then make my own and dump theirs.
I love the insturments that Uni gave us. My four memeber 'band' will play for tips downtown when NL gets here.
And I hope that NL will not be that half baked half completed shit they have given us so far. Hope.

Well, either you're attempting to post in a section of the rentech.com forums which do not permit the starting of user threads(in which case you're stupid and deserve to have your lips ripped off), Rentech has broken the forums, or Rentech has decided to punish people who have defected to here. As it's likely you're not dumb enough to make the first mistake, given that More Awesome Than You has a similar board structure, it's probably one of the other two. Who knows? If the second, Rentech is probably busily trying to blame me for it already. If the last option, well, I don't put it above Rentech. She *REAAAAALLY* hates me. And probably anyone remotely associated with me.
No, it was forum wide. I see that that is gone now tho as mysteriously as it was applied....see: She is nuts. |

Well, to be honest, damned if I know. The entire MTS2 debacle never went this far. They never actually banned me from the site itself, only the chat channel. The Rentech thing completely baffles me. If you see anything, you tell me. As far as I can tell, Rentech is insane, and maybe MTS2 was right after all.
Got to say, I saw evidence of this myself. One minute she was nice and friendly and the next the teeth were in my throat I was stopped from 'starting any new threads' for I have no idea why. Like I start a lot of threads! I think I went to the V maybe a dozen times in all and when I saw I was stopped from new thread making--even tho I didn't want to make any it woulda been nice to know what the hell I'd done to piss her or whomever off- I just stopped going there, period. I did make a post over there a few days ago tho to twojeffs whom I felt I I owed homage as I had not given proper credit to in a thread at MTS2. Altho I missed your twisted humor Pescado. Glad to know I can dose up on you again. |
