Meh! Complete waste of money! Send it to the Haitians instead. And of course, it's the only way to get the aquarium in your game. I predict a whole slew of stuff packs that include one item each of Things That Should Have Been In the First Game: one stuff pack with a piano, one stuff pack with a diving board, etc. ...The pirates life for me. Arr~

Hi! I have request about NoAutonomousReread option. It is very usefull and it is something I waiting for, but I suppose it works only for NPCs, not for my sims. I can't remember what books my sims has read but I want them to do not read the same books. All I can do is tell them to read some book and watch is that green "reading meter" appears over sim head. If not, I cancel the read task and choose another book... but if there is a lot of such books, it's starting to be annoying :/ Could you add option that turns off the reread posibility for playable sims?
And one more question... how NoAutonomousReread option works? My sim wrote a lot of books, when I go to the library, they are there, I could read them but I never saw that NPC sims read them.
If the green bar appears, that means they haven't finished the book. Once a Sim finishes a book, that's when the autonomy kicks in. The Sim autonomously does not reread that book ever again. And yes, it works for the playable Sims. Let the green bar fill up, and they won't reread it unless directed to.

That's quite all right. Mistakes can happen. =D I can confirm this. Unfortunately there's no way I can prove it. I only used one CC. Now I'm not sure if this is related to the mesh itself, but shrinking it to an itty-bitty size causes sluggish performance. And that's with just one in the game. I had several compressed meshes in my game and it was so slow that I was practically ripping my hair out. I used this CC/mesh for the test. It is a 2.5 MB file. Using the compressorizer I shrank it to 1 KB. I placed it in my game like normal. Startup went normally. Upon loading a house, however, loading took longer. I tested the speed of zoom in, zoom out, and of course, the elusive "gray mesh" I get. Both zoom in and zoom out were sluggish and froze. The gray mesh appeared but converted back to the object texture. It didn't last as long because only one compressed mesh was in the game. Like I said I remember I had plenty more and the meshes' textures took longer to regenerate. Besides fucking up my game, the compressed mesh CC doesn't even show up in CAS. Having it compressed is totally senseless and pointless, to have your game run like a tortoise for an item that doesn't even appear. EDIT: So far, cars I downloaded from MTS that have been converted don't slow the game down. I think it depends on the conversion and the mesh being converted.

I'm not talking EA's stuff--- stuff you'd find at MTS or the others.
Then I guess it is a coincidence since my speed and performance for the game has accelerated tenfold since I removed the compressed meshes and also while also testing it on a reformatted computer. I may have to do another test.

I found that using the Compressorizer or Pescado's compressor tool on CC with meshes included will make the game considerably slower, including save times. I noticed how slow it was becoming when I compressed these files. Packages that aren't meshes or aren't included in the package are safe to compress. Every time I would zoom in to a household, objects like chairs, couches and the like are gray and then turn back into their original state.
Save time with compressed meshes was 50 seconds or more.
Save time without compressed meshes was less than 20 seconds. A little more when loading a house. Times aren't much different with no CC installed.
I have 72 MB of CC in the game and load times are as described above. Then again I've recently reformatted my computer (but I know compressing CC meshes slows the game down for some reason).
Oh, and these are my computer specs:
Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4 GHz 3 GB RAM Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT

Having folders within the Packages folder doesn't work for me.
That's usually a good indicator, that your Resource.cfg either isn't set up correctly or resides in the wrong folder. I have 10 folders under C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages\. The only .package files not in folders are awesome.package, aweconf.package and IndieStoneMod.package. Resource.cfg is supposed to be in C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 and here it looks like that: Priority 501 PackedFile Mods/Override/*.package PackedFile Mods/Override/*/*.package PackedFile Mods/Override/*/*/*.package PackedFile Mods/Override/*/*/*/*.package Priority 500 DirectoryFiles Mods/Files/... autoupdate PackedFile Mods/Packages/*.package PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*.package PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*/*.package PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*/*/*.package Priority 499 PackedFile Mods/Test/*.package PackedFile Mods/Test/*/*.package PackedFile Mods/Test/*/*/*.package PackedFile Mods/Test/*/*/*/*.package Priority -50 PackedFile Mods/Probation/*.package PackedFile Mods/Probation/*/*.package PackedFile Mods/Probation/*/*/*.package PackedFile Mods/Probation/*/*/*/*.package
This way it should handle 3 layers of sub directories (more than I will ever need). My Resource.cfg is in the correct location. I only mentioned that core mods don't work for me within folder layers. I have a folder for textured default replacements of female hair and that seems to appear in-game. In my folder, AM and its config are in Program Files/Electronic Arts/Sims 3/Mods/Packages. Monkey adds four new folders to the Packages folder: Hacks, Patterns, Skins, and Misc. AM will work outside these folders and just in the Packages.

I have the monkey installer and I have all the patches. I went to the configuration tool and picked what I wanted. I even looked at the manual to make sure I was getting what I wanted. I put the mod in hacks which is in the packages folder. I start my game and the stupid blur is there. Am I missing something simple?
Having folders within the Packages folder doesn't work for me. So usually whenever I put core mods (not tuning mods, far as I know) into those folders, they don't appear in-game. I suggest placing them outside Monkey's pre-made folder and see if that works.

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: How fast is your TS3?

Sweet, thanks for the info guys. And yeah I'm on XP 32bit so Windoze only sees 3GB for now. The reason I was asking is because I'm wondering if an easy upgrade (like processor or RAM speed) might improve my TS3 experience... I initially built the PC for TS3 to be low noise and energy efficient but didn't realise how much of a hog modern games can be having not played any others since TS2. I could either upgrade A) Processor from AMD Athlon 4850e Dual Core to Phenom II X4 Quad Core 920 2.8GHz (AM2+) B) RAM FROM 4GB PC2-6400 (800MHz) to 4GB PC2-9600 (1100MHz+ ish) Anyone know which of these would give me the most noticeable speed increase in the TS3 operations I listed (like loading, saving etc)? Thanks I'm no computer buff, but I believe you already have enough RAM. I think increasing from Dual to Quad would be more beneficial. I have about a 2.4 GHz Dual Core Processor, 3 GB RAM, and a 9800 GT Nvidia Video Card, and my speeds are above average (with about 300 MB of CC installed).

It's really a matter of your processor, your RAM, and installed CC. Of course, the more CC you have, loading a save and ending the game takes a while. I just use Game Booster to terminate unnecessary programs to increase my RAM.

I'm deliberately avoiding the perfect aquarium lifetime wish until we actually get aquariums instead of fishbowls that hold ONE fish. I guess that means that want is likely never happening for my sims. Seriously though, why no ability to put several of the silly things in a nice aquarium instead of having to build a fishbowl palace? What a dumb idea.
I'd love to see a sim piranha go to work on his aquarium mates while my poor, inept fish keeper sim looked on in horror. Heck, putting a piranha in a tiny fishbowl should be enough to trigger some anti sim piranha anger. I can be cruel to my pixels.
Especially when this is never done in real life? EA obviously never heard of aquariums outside their offices.
