1  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Strange Release by Avenged Create A Sim on: 2010 February 05, 05:08:18
Well, like I said. It's basically just a stripped down version of the Sims 3 that boots directly into CAS.. so it saves as *.sim like normal. It's pretty worthless a 'tool' honestly, only good as a demo of the game at best.
2  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Got High End Loft Stuff two days early . . . for all the good it does me. on: 2010 February 05, 02:01:12
Unless you need it in another language other than English, it shouldn't matter. It installs fine over the multi-language version of the game.
3  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Strange Release by Avenged Create A Sim on: 2010 February 04, 23:41:41
Just tested it out, and it isn't worth the time to arr it, much less is it worth a single red cent to buy. This isn't like TS2's CAS tool at all, it just launches its own stripped down version of the base-game instead.. and it's 2GB because it uses its own duplicate resources from the main game. (meaning it doesn't acknowledge CC, Store, or expansion content as existing at all.. and wastes unnecessary space on your hard-drive.) It's not that much faster to load than starting the normal game itself either, so there's really zero advantage to using this at all..

I don't believe so. I did some digging when I was trying to recreate the Wolfrun in ASM and I was not able to find any mods that allow for aging on an individual or household basis other than Indie Stone.
You can easily do this manually by just editing the savegame. Each Sim has their own flag with regards to whether they can age or not, they even have a flag which determines whether their motives are capable of decaying.. with a quick tweak (or not so quick if you intend to be changing a lot of Households this way) you can imitate the exact same behavior that ISM allows.

If you do not have Riverview, you won't have a worldcaches folder. I got mine when I installed Riverview.

Interesting.
I generally only use Riverview, since I feel that neighborhood is vastly superior in the way it is laid out.. so it's not surprising that I never noticed this before. Though everything else I've said about it is true at least, even if it is Riverview specific. I've fixed several little (and not so little) neighborhood specific problems from just deleting those files. (And of worthy note, the crashing I was experiencing awhile back which was similar to what spazznova is experiencing happened specifically to Riverview only.. both savedgames and when attempting to load it as a newgame. It wouldn't surprise me if something in the cache was causing it, and that my repeated attempts to load it somehow flushed it out.)

Oh well, glad you told me about this at least. I'll keep it in mind for the future..
6  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 August 03, 05:23:22
Hmm, I guess it's not there for some reason. My caches for some reason don't appear in a folder. They are just in plain sight when I go to my Sims folder. Weird.

Haha but thanks for trying! I really appreciate it Smiley

Well the WorldCaches folder has specific cache files related to the neighborhoods, these are completely different from the Compositor and CASPart's caches. Should these ever become corrupted for any reason, you'd likely be unable to successfully load a savegame or even start a newgame. (Or in lesser instances, you'd just run into bizarre problems after loadup.) Unfortunately it wasn't that simple in this case it seems..
7  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 August 03, 02:33:44
The "WorldCaches" directory should be in plain sight, located under the Sims 3 folder you've been deleting the other cache files in. If it's not there at all though (and that seems odd to me) then perhaps it simply hasn't been generated yet, in which case it isn't the culprit at fault here anyway.

Also yes, I experienced pretty much the same issue awhile back. I would go to load a saved game or try to start a new one.. the game would always crash very early into its attempt to load either, though. Like I said however, I didn't actually find a solution to the problem (I wasn't given enough time to do so really), it simply resolved itself after a few repeated attempts.. That's obviously not very useful information and most certainly not too encouraging either, but eh..
8  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Sims 3 Hates my Skin Choices?! on: 2009 August 03, 02:25:07
If you've uninstalled the original skins you were using, and deleted the compositor caches.. the new skin should show up in CAS. If this isn't the case, you might want to double check that you properly uninstalled the original skin. Also, as far as the skins not showing up ingame correctly goes.. Try deleting the files under the "WorldCaches" folder. For some odd reason the game actually caches the skin textures on a Sim by Sim basis for each neighborhood.. As a result, old Sims would still show-up with the old skin you had installed, while only the new Sims you created in CAS or the freshly spawned Townies would have the new skin you installed. Deleting these cache files should force everyone to use the new skin, though.
9  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 August 03, 02:14:03
I've deleted the caches about a billion times and still nothing. It's absolutely driving me insane! I have been everywhere and nothing has been a help.

Did that also include deleting the contents of the WorldCaches folder? If your neighborhoods are crashing upon loading, deleting those might help.. If you've already tried this though, I'm not sure what might be at fault. I did run into a similar issue myself some weeks back though, but it somehow resolved itself after a few repeated attempts to load a savegame\start a newgame. *shrugs*
10  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 August 02, 02:26:42
Yes, it's actually kind of interesting.. The "Loves the Outdoors" trait is referenced as "LovesTheOutdoors" - but for whatever reason they decided the "The" wasn't necessary for the "Hates the Outdoors" trait. (Consistency doesn't appear to be one of EAxis' strong points..)
11  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 August 02, 02:22:43
It's simply, "HatesOutdoors".
12  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch ponderings... on: 2009 August 01, 18:21:17
Most of 'em, yup. I'm just ticked that EAxis required us to have the dumb library families, still. That's the only issue I had. I have the Razor version.

The patcher will just error on anything that's missing or altered, it doesn't matter if it actually changes that file or not it simply halts on anything that it construes as "abnormal." Mine halted on "VideoCamera.ini" for example.. I was using Aikea's camera tweak and it freaked out over the file being different. (Which is ridiculous of course, both because it is nothing more than a simple INI file that's designed to be tweaked anyway.. and also because the patch never updated this file or touched it in any way.)

So yea, I agree, it's dumb.
13  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch ponderings... on: 2009 August 01, 15:45:35
Hybrid; Reloaded patched to Razor with Witch's Bin with both Official patched.
Frankengame.

Same here.
Didn't have any issues patching, and the game itself (so far as I can tell right now) is showing no signs of any problems.. (Well, nothing I didn't cause myself anyway.)
14  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Mods and custom content Crashing the Game. on: 2009 August 01, 01:13:35
I deleted the cache files and downloaded the new awesomemod, but I"ll try again to see if anything changes.

Edit: I deleted my cache files and it did nothing. I know it's not a specific mod because the game won't load even if I have no mods installed. The only thing in the mod folder is the enablescrpterror, which is what I think is keeping it from working.

Did you also delete the package folders in the WorldCaches folder? I notice most neglect to mention these specifically.. I mean while deleting the Compositor, Script, and CASParts cache files all do resolve specific problems (the script cache being notorious for startup crashes), deleting the World Cache sounds like it "might" help more in this instance. (Since I notice you mentioned in your first post that you crashed when loading a save\neighborhood. Though I might have misunderstood.)

If you've already done this though, or are just crashing at the main load screen now (in which case removing the World Caches won't help at all), I'm not sure what the problem might be. I actually believe I ran into something similar sometime back though, long before this patch, but it seemed to resolve itself after multiple attempts.. which is odd, but this game seems to be full of weird voodoo.
15  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Indie Stone Now with added Awesomeness on: 2009 July 31, 16:40:06
Indie seems hell bent on forcing sims to be hetero no matter what in my experience. Somehow I doubt the gender preference thing will help because I think it ignores it. I know I have had sims who have flirted with the same sex more than the opposite which should set that preference value, but Indie has paired them with the opposite sex regardless. Let me know if it works for you.

I haven't really played much of the game since AwesomeMod supported Indie (I've been too busy creating new Sims, homes for them, and setting up the appropriate relationships between them in my new neighborhood to really get in any serious playtime), but I don't like the sound of this at all.. I don't want my Gay Sims to wander off and start hitting on those of the opposite gender when I've specifically setup their preference against that kind of behavior. I may just have to remove Indie completely if this is how it's going to be. (I was going to wait until Pescado had his Story Progression going before I got rid of Indie, but meh.. I've gone to lengths to ensure my neighborhood stays diverse and interesting, so I don't need something like this to impede my progress.)
16  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Indie Stone Now with added Awesomeness on: 2009 July 31, 16:17:11
Darn, missed that one, Sims 3 Neighborhood Workshop.

Thanks Motoki and Krisan Thyme.

I'm sure you've already gotten this done, but I neglected to mention two things.
One, you can just use the "dresser" or "mirror" commands in the console to change their planned outfits, rather than unpausing your game and manually going to one of these objects. And two, you can just use an extra planned outfit in any category, dress that one up as "Naked", and use that as a base instead. This might actually save you a tiny bit of time, since I personally always give all of my Sims an alternative nude Sleepwear and Swimwear outfit anyway, and as such one wouldn't need to fix anything after modifying the save itself. (And even if you don't want the extra outfit, you can just delete it. Which might be a little simpler than recreating whatever outfit you overwrote using the method I described before.)

I also have a teen who went steady with his gf listed as married! Is that a bug? Or just the way it works? It even says that her family are his in-laws now, which is kind of weird for a teenager.

Yes, there is an Indie bug (or two) that's related to marriage.. it seems a bit iffy sometimes about its logic in marrying odd Sim couples off without you even noticing it. (Not that two teens getting married is that odd, but it's not suppose to happen autonomously that I know of.)

Edit: oooh, there's a key for zodiac on NW - wonder if the game actually does *anything* with that? Most are all set to Aries, although some of those born in game have a different sign.

This isn't used at all as far as I can tell, it's just a remnant of a feature never finished by EAxis.
Of note, all CAS created Sims are Aries, while various Townies and the like could be set as literally anything.. However, you CAN change the value, and it "will" stay saved on that Sim. Furthermore, you can even export the Sim to your bin and that Zodiac value will remain as whatever you set it as even after processing them through CAS again.

So while it is completely useless a variable, it might rear its head again in a future expansion.. In the meantime you can set these however you like without fear of it hurting anything. (I did with most of my Sims, just for the hell of it.)
17  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: 30x20 lots vs. 20x30 lots on: 2009 July 28, 02:31:00
This sounds exactly like TS2.  The lots had an internal rotation which determined which of the two measurements came first and which came second.  People often assumed that the measurements were width (frontage) x depth, but it was never true.

Why would EA bother to change something which was already completely absurd, when they could spend their time mucking up stuff which used to work instead?

Honestly? I never noticed this in TS2. But it didn't really matter there either, since you could actually place your own lots in TS2.. Here it's a lot more noticeable, not to mention a lot more annoying.
18  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Indie Stone Now with added Awesomeness on: 2009 July 28, 02:10:50
Hmm, how can you change that in the saved games? I am having a problem with the hairstyles randomly changing while bathing. My EA buzz cut sims randomly have long hair when they bathe or long haired female sims have the short afro when they bathe.

Basically, do this:

1) Download Neighborhood Workshop. (Motoki kindly linked it above.)
2) Start up your game and load your desired savegame. Go the household with the Sim that's inappropriately dressed when nude..
3) Use "disableclothingfilter on" in the console.
4) Select your trouble Sim and either send them to the Mirror to plan their outfits, or simply use the "Editsim" command on them.
5) Change one of the outfits on the Sim to whatever you want your nude Sim to look like. (I recommend Sleepwear or Swimwear) Since you have the clothing filter off, you should be able to select the nude top and bottom pieces for your Sim here.. Make any other fine adjustments you want, like hair, accessories, etc..
6) Save your outfit, return to the game, then save your game to a new savefile. Exit the game too if you wish. (though it isn't necessary)
7) Open up Neighborhood Workshop and load the savefile you just created.
8) Go into the advanced editor, then make sure you have your Active Household selected in the dropdown window above.
9) Open the "mMembers" tree, "mSimDescriptions" tree, and then whichever numbered tree corresponds with the Sim you're editing.
10) Scroll down and open the "mOutfits" tree, then open tree "0" and either tree "4" or "5" (this assumes your Sim only has the default 5 outfits and not anymore you've added, otherwise it might be some other number), 4 being Swimwear, and 5 being Sleepwear - whichever of the two you made Nude.
11) Copy the "Instance" value from your Nude Swimwear\Sleepwear outfit and replace the Instance value found inside tree "0" with it. (Simply paste over it.)
12) Go up to File and hit Save. You'll have to give the edited savefile you just made a new name, so go ahead and name it whatever you want.
13) Open up the game anew and load your edited savefile. You're nearly done now.. All you really need to do is fix your Sleepwear or Swimwear, whichever you made nude. Go ahead and use the Mirror or the Editsim command to do this, then save yet another new savefile.
14) Go and send your Sim to the shower or bathtub and see if it worked! (if you followed all of this correctly, it should have.)

This might all seem a bit more complicated than it needs to be, but due to the way the game saves things there really isn't any faster way to accomplish this. (I've tried several times over now, and failed.) Luckily this outfit shouldn't ever need to be changed more than once per Sim, so it's not that bad.
19  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: 30x20 lots vs. 20x30 lots on: 2009 July 27, 22:03:16
I noticed the same thing awhile back when I started populating my first serious neighborhood.. It's pretty ridiculous that two lots listed as the same size can be of a completely different rotation from the other, or that two lots that show as being slightly differently sized end up being exactly alike. I have to seriously wonder what they were thinking when they laid the lots out in the neighborhoods, since they follow absolutely no sense of logic to them..
20  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Indie Stone Now with added Awesomeness on: 2009 July 27, 19:09:47
Sims actually appear to have their "Naked" outfits randomized for them when they're first generated. Usually they'll just be naked as normal, while other times I've noticed the game likes to add needless accessories or other things to them (like the males will occasionally be wearing a necklace or a pendant, even if they otherwise never wear these things), but I believe rarely (relatively speaking) they'll just get some completely unexplainable outfit which isn't even remotely close to being nude. I have no idea why the game insists on doing this, but it isn't that hard to manually fix\change either. (Just one reference needs to be altered in the savegame for that Sims Naked outfit, and you're set.)
21  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Download Links: Sims 3 Skins & Addons (Update 23/7) PIERCINGS & LINGERIE ! on: 2009 July 25, 04:24:59
Well actually it's a lot simpler than you might think..
The "Naked" outfit isn't treated anymore specially than anything else the Sim's wear, as a result every Sim has their own individual record stored for what they wear when they switch to that "outfit." All you'd really need to do is modify a single reference in the savegame file for that Sim, which you can very easily do using Neighborhood Workshop.
