So, the obtrusive, flashing, green "30" in the upper left corner of the screen. Desired result, problem indicator, or Liz doin' it wrong?

Running TS3 windowed?
That indicator is there, but ought to be hidden behind the fullscreen TS3 window.

What do the flashing numbers mean? Now that you told me about pointing the shortcut to the 3booter, I guess the programs are working and I'm getting the flashing numbers. I can put up with it since I don't want to fry my graphics cards, but am just curious about what the numbers mean.

You must also change your shortcut so it points at 3booter.exe, not \bin\ts3.exe. Maybe you forgot that step?

Yes, I think I did. Thank you.

Sounds more like you're NOT using 3booter, because 3booter will automatically incinerate them.

I DID install the 3Booter as well as the FPS limiter, but I must have done something wrong because it doesn't seem to work. I put them in Program files/EA/TS3, which is what I thought you said to do.

Did you try googling "mdmp file"?

Apparently MDMP files are mini dump files. So, who knows.
30  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: What does this document mean? on: 2009 July 16, 23:53:16
What made you think it was related to TS3?

The document I attached in my post was deleted, but as to why I think it's related to TS3 is that it's in the Sims 3 folder in my documents. Also, the document references the game. I was just wondering what it all meant, but from what you say it means something is crashing. Maybe it's counting all the times I have to open the game to get it started. I'll google MDMP and see what that means.
31  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: What does this document mean? on: 2009 July 16, 23:14:59
So far my game has not crashed once it gets started. What would be useful to you in understanding why these files are being generated? I tried opening the MDMP and it says I have to find the right program, and of course I have no idea what program I need to open it. Should I attach the MDMP file to see if someone can understand it, or just forget the whole thing? It just seems odd that all of a sudden these files are being created.
32  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / What does this document mean? on: 2009 July 16, 23:07:50
Since yesterday my computer has been creating a text document and an MDMP (?) several times throughout the day. It seems to be reporting some kind of error, but I don't understand what it means. Can anyone tell me what this means, if it means I have a  problem, and if I can safely delete these files? I have attached the most recent text document.

Wow, you suck at Google.

Thanks for the help and for giving it in true MATY fashion. I know I will never be disappointed here.

Well at least you know what you are in for when you come here. Tongue

Regrettably, yes I do. The irony is that I did find that link that jordi scolded me for not finding, but it didn't seem to be from the creator of Sim PE so I thought it was something different. So, jordi is right, I suck, but not quite at what he thought I sucked at.

I tried to see what was under the hood of awesomemod by opening awesome.package with S3PE.

Can you tell me where you found the download for S3PE? I googled it and only found references to it and the link to the S2 PE.

NEW UPDATE
Directions above have been revised: 3booter should be moved from game/bin to just the root install directory (although because you meatheads never listen, I spent an hour making sure it will actually function anyway even if you do it wrong and keep doing things the old way).

Can you please tell me where the root install directory is? I would like to install this but I have no idea where to find the root install directory.

I downloaded the Awesome fix and then had to install the enablescripterror because my game kept crashing. Things were fine for a few days, but then today the crashing started again, and also I went back to a family I had made Sacred and they had done things on their own, including the husband getting a job, the wife going to the cemetary, and the two of them had hired a babysitter. Somehow they had become Unsacred.

Should I uninstall everything and then reinstall, along with the 3Booter?

Jordi and travellersside, since I am non-awesome and not good MATY material, I am allowed to say thank you for the information. (I understand that it is non-awesome to say thank you on this board). And yes I do know about the thanks button.
38  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Lot Sync Timer: All BlueSoups Suck Edition on: 2006 September 05, 11:27:44
The reason for this is that if you do, you're going to get heavy "clumping", where tons of children will be conceived between 1500-2100 Wednesday, which is the optimal time to do it.

JM, what makes Sim conception between 1500-2100 optimal?
39  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Question about moving to a different lot on: 2006 August 28, 12:03:08
If I may expose myself to ridicule and contempt for a moment, I'd like to share a computer naif's way of handling the question of keeping the furnishings in a house while moving the sole resident out, although there may be some serious conssequences that I am not aware of. I keep a couple of Sims in the Sim bin to move into a house so that the current occupant can move out without any loss of furniture. In my game it's Don Lothario and the Calientes. I moved them out of their houses when I started playing, and I use them for situations like this. I just move them out of the house again after I've moved in other Sims that I want to live there.

I know this is a non-awesome way of handling it, but since they're not real people I figure it doesn't matter. I know it's better to understand the mechanics behind the game and handle it that way, but this is a crude shortcut for people who can't manipulate the mechanics.

Macrotastics is Awesome and you should never be without it! It is clearly more awesome than you.

[I wouldn't count on it. If the "balancer" theoretically exists, and there is some degree of statistical evidence for it, it is flawed. Firstly, it is believed that there is a bias towards male NPCs, as there are supposedly more NPCs which are always male than those which are always female. If not, then the bias is likely in the other direction.

All in all, however, the balancing system, if it exists, is BROKEN and will generally worsen, rather than alleviate, existing population dynamics issues.

Wow, JM! I really and truly AM in awe of you. Thank you for this mini-treatise, most of which I admit I have trouble following, but which is fascinating information nonetheless. I wish you would write a book about the Sims 2 -- there's obviously so much going on in there that a player like me has no conception of.

And of course, Macrostatics is more awesome than I.  Awesomeness is one quality I never claimed to have, at least when it comes to .... whatever all this is called. Ok, I will download the lot debugger and Macrostatics again. Thank you again. It took two days, but I got a real answer out of you!
41  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Is there a way to change the sex of a baby in Sim PE? on: 2006 August 22, 11:29:04
In any case, it may not hurt to grab JMP's census tool, and take a look at the sex balance of the hood, both playables and non-playables. If there is a noticeably higher number of males, the sadorandom generator may have just been insisting on restoring the balance.

I don't think you've mentioned it -- have you tried using the re-randomize function in the Lot Debugger before the baby is born?  I run it before every birth in my game, and haven't had the 'First Born' effect since I started using it.  Maybe re-randomizing might get your game off being stuck on giving Circe a girl.

Maybe there is a balance inherent in the game. I haven't had a chance to get beyond generation 2 because every time I play a neighborhood something horrific happens and I have to start over again (or at least, I thought I had to start over again because of my lack of knowledge) so I haven't had a chance to observe the balancing over time. Most likely that much-hoped-for baby boy would have arrived even if the initiating Sim was male. With any luck at all I will be able to see what happens as I move on to generation 3 and beyond.

I am ashamed to admit that in the throes of my last catastrophic problem, I uninstalled every hack I had, so I don't have the lot debugger. I did have it but hadn't used it. At the moment I'm afraid to use anything extra since I had some weird, game-spoiling problems when I had hacks installed. The first big problem came when I downloaded InSIMenator. At the time I had JM's Macrostatics, Auto-Yak and one other Auto-Something. After the catastrophe (which is how it was described by someone on the InSIMenator board) I removed InSIM and Macrostatics.

Then about a week later I installed a few hacks (no more than 3) from this site and one from ModtheSims2. Everything went fine. Then I downloaded a bunch of hacks, and had the catastrophic problem again (in which the lot acts like it's a community lot and I can't quit or save, and there seems to be some issue with the car) so I uninstalled everything.

If I ever get the nerve to use a hack again, I will try your suggestion. In the meantime, I will trust that Maxis has built in some long-term neighborhood-balancing thing so my Sims can propagate without me creating mates just for them.

This probably doesn't have any significance, but since I mentioned it earlier, I wanted to report that my female Sim who initiated woo hoo and became pregnant just gave  birth to a boy. Since I'd already had four girls, it was probably time for randomness to produce a boy, but it's tempting to believe that the BBS myth is really true. I know it's not, but I want to believe.

Quote
Just save right before the birth, then exit without saving again if it's the wrong sex. It's really that simple. You simply had a bad run.

I did try that, but after three tries got tired of it and let nature takes its course.
44  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Is there a way to change the sex of a baby in Sim PE? on: 2006 August 21, 11:48:43
If who initiated the woohoo had any bearing on the gender of the baby, then saving just before birth and reloading would never result in a different gender.  But JM has studied this, and I have observed in my own game that it doesn't matter who intiates the woohoo, the gender is chosen randomly at birth.   In case there is some kind of sadorandomness going on, try using the Rerandomize Sim Generator on the Lot Debugger.

I figured that idea of the sex being determined by the sex of the initiator was probably not true (no, that would make playing the game too easy), but I was just desperate enough to give it a try.
45  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Is there a way to change the sex of a baby in Sim PE? on: 2006 August 21, 11:45:52
You only need one male.

No, the way I like to play, I need a partner for each Sim. I'm not just trying to produce Sims, I'm interested in seeing what results from combining the DNA of the offspring of Sims I created. So, I need a man for every woman.
46  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Is there a way to change the sex of a baby in Sim PE? on: 2006 August 21, 03:16:44
Sorry, but that is a myth.  Just to save you some time.  I think that is a carryover from an old Sims 1 bug.

Too late - they already woo hooed, and she is pregnant. Thanks to your post I'm now prepared in case we have our FIFTH girl baby!  Angry This is a sad state of affairs for those who love to see genetics in action.
47  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Is there a way to change the sex of a baby in Sim PE? on: 2006 August 21, 03:09:19
No hacksaws needed here.  If the sex of the kid isn't what I want, I just have the mom go through the birthing routine until the babe is the "proper" sex.
Yeah, it means exiting without saving a few times, but I've never had to do it more than three times in a row.

Less stressful for the infants, as well.

I did try that, but stopped after three times. I gave up and accepted that Pleasantview now had its fourth girl in a row. I am testing the suggestion I read on BBS that the sex of the Sim who initiates the woo hoo produces a baby of the opposite sex.
48  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Is there a way to change the sex of a baby in Sim PE? on: 2006 August 21, 01:39:45
In this case I would be adding genitalia, not hacking it off.
Maybe you'd like having your genitalia yanked out also?

OK, JM - you win. This is a bad, degenerate thing to want to do, even though the game would be more fun if I could actually produce a third generation from born-in-game Sims. I have no more arguments. I think the real purpose of this game is to cause as much frustration as possible. It's a game for masochists. Maybe that explains the S&M aspect of this board![Don't know why my reply is in the quote box; don't know how to fix it. I feel like I'm playing the Sims]
49  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Is there a way to change the sex of a baby in Sim PE? on: 2006 August 20, 20:51:45
We are talking about a game, right? A game where there are vampires and aliens, and Sims who want to woo hoo with Death. I would have thought that in that world, changing the sex of a baby would fit right in.
50  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Is there a way to change the sex of a baby in Sim PE? on: 2006 August 20, 20:41:28
JM, I don't get what's gross about it. You change everything else about the game to make it more to your liking, so what's gross about changing the sex so to have more fun with the game?
You don't think the idea of HACKING OFF SOMEONE'S GENITALIA to replace them with a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SET is just a little WRONG?

In this case I would be adding genitalia, not hacking it off. How is this different from allowing male Sims to have babies? I
