At some point, one has to sit down and ask themself, WTF am I still doing this?  I asked that about 2 years ago.  I'm still waiting for the response.

Did Maxis finally unfux0r this code in FreeTime?  Parts of your fix seem to have materialized almost verbatim in FreeTime's Sub - Get Paid (revision 2B).

Text? Display? In my day, we didn't have any text displays in our STN editor! We had BARE HEX, and WE LIKED IT!

That's right...give it to us rough.  I still rarely - if ever - enter my opcodes through the wizard except for convoluted shit I can never remember like the anim primitives.  I'm sure though that Pes has the anim opcodes post-it-noted to his bathroom mirror like daily affirmations Smiley
4  The Bowels of Trogdor / The Small Intestines of Trogdor / Re: Secondary aspiration on: 2008 March 05, 01:28:52
After all, the user chooses both aspirations for the sim, and presumably would like them to do stuff based on both.
While I agree with this statement in principle, it does not appear that Maxis has followed suit.  It seems like they've gone out of their way to replace bit-testing against 0x2E with calls to 0x403, which only gets you at the primary aspiration.  Leaves me wondering what purpose the secondary serves except as a pathway to different aspiration rewards.
5  The Bowels of Trogdor / The Small Intestines of Trogdor / Re: Secondary aspiration on: 2008 March 04, 06:05:51
From the looks of things, Maxis has culled all bit tests against 0x2E and replaced them with calls to 0x403 and/or 0x611 and performing the flag tests against Temp 0.  Querying 0x2E directly is somewhat non-sensical.  This is going to break a lot of shit silently yet violently.
6  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Crammyboy's nudist hack v2.07 (updated for Bon Voyage) on: 2007 December 01, 23:01:00
The problem is that InTeen is expecting to find STR# index 0x17 in 0x7F4437F2:0x12E whenever a sim is placed on birth control.  This string does not exist in CBOY's nudist mod.  If InTeenimater_B.package and CBOY_nudist.package co-exist together in the Downloads root folder together, then this is not a problem because InTeen will load AFTER the nudist mod.  If either is placed in a subfolder, then package ordering may be an issue depending on how those subfolders are named.  If CBOY_nudist.package loads after InTeen you'll get a "Missing Action in String Table" when a sim on birth control attempts to relax in bed: ergo, a jump bug.

So one can:

1. Ensure that InTeenimater_B.package loads AFTER CBOY_nudist by placing both together in the root Downloads folder and they should play fine together.

...or...

2. Alter CBOY_nudist.package to include the missing menu text at 0x7F4437F2:0x12E that InTeen expects to find and then load order becomes a non-issue.

It's not clear to me why CBOY_nudist overrides this STR# table anyway.  I can't see any text strings that have been altered.

\It's not an error that teens become independent at 18.  This is a primary feature of InTeen.  If you don't want independent teens, you can install the no_adult_teens flavor pak.

I felt late to the party and was envious of the spankings Pes was handing out.

Whenever my teens have a job, they suddenly get promoted to an adult level of said job. They will also stop going to school (regardless if they have a job or not). If this is indeed a hack error, would anyone have any idea what type of hack could be causing this? Perhaps the No Friends for Careers?

If you could see what they were doing, you'd realize they were doing absolutely nothing except making themselves look puffed up and important. Tongue
11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What exactly are jase, jfade and Quaxi hiding? on: 2007 November 03, 04:36:01
I wasn't aware Jase or Jfade were involved in SimPE at all, and the reason the SimPE QA whatnot has been essentially on backburner forever is that Quaxi has essentially lost interest in the project and doesn't put any effort into doing anything about it. Hence, it's still QA and there isn't even a release.
We are part of a covert "black helicopter" squad bent on converting SimPE to an SMS plug-in for ICQ.
12  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Fucked Up Orchard Tree Fix for BV p0 on: 2007 September 21, 03:47:05
One thing I've noticed in BV is a marked change in "style".  The code has gone from borked to cluster-fucked.  One only has to unravel the entrails of that code abortion that is Hammock WooHoo to find evidence of this.  My suspicion is that most of the core developers/designers have moved over to Sims 3 (I think this process began with Pets and is now in full swing with BV).  The junior boy league with L's on their forehead have rushed in to fill the vacuum.  I suspect from this point forward, the expansion chaos will only worsen.  Undecided
13  The Bowels of Trogdor / The Small Intestines of Trogdor / Re: Push Interaction opcode(s) for Interaction Index > 0xFF on: 2007 April 28, 05:44:43
That's the road I ultimately ended up going down (the social controller).  Despite the extra coding, it was worth it in the end (plus it dovetails nicely with all versions of Sims 2).  As fun as bludgeoning a problem with a blunt tool can be at times, there is merit to poking it with a well-sharpened stick (especially if "it" happens to be Inge).

15  The Bowels of Trogdor / The Small Intestines of Trogdor / Re: Push Interaction opcode(s) for Interaction Index > 0xFF on: 2007 April 03, 05:11:10
But what I'm trying to do is to force an interaction onto another sim.  Indeed, push onto my stack works 99% of the time.  Run in Stack Object's stack, however, works like 1% when S.O. is a sim.  There's no equivalent Push onto Stack Object's stack that i know of - save Push Interaction (0xD) which runs check trees (blah).
16  The Bowels of Trogdor / The Small Intestines of Trogdor / Re: Push Interaction opcode(s) for Interaction Index > 0xFF on: 2007 April 03, 04:44:08
The problem with RTBN is that it almost always fails when you attempt to "Run in Stack Object's" (where S.O. is a sim) and they're currently executing an interaction (as they usually are).  I much prefer RTBN, but its miserable for trying to force actions onto sims (works very well for objects though that are almost always in their main/idle loop).  Incidentally, there appears to be a new RTBN call type in Seasons: 03 - Run in GUID's Stack from the looks of it.  The Temperature Resistivity Controller uses it heavily.
17  The Bowels of Trogdor / The Small Intestines of Trogdor / Re: Push Interaction opcode(s) for Interaction Index > 0xFF on: 2007 April 03, 02:25:11
I'm going to change gears for a sec.  Do you know of any way to push an interaction without tripping its associated TEST/Guardian.  I've tried twiddling the "force run check tree" bit to no avail.  Seems like it always fires.
18  The Bowels of Trogdor / The Small Intestines of Trogdor / Re: Push Interaction opcode(s) for Interaction Index > 0xFF on: 2007 April 03, 01:50:14
That's exactly what I was fishing for.  Thanks for the quick reply.
19  The Bowels of Trogdor / The Small Intestines of Trogdor / Push Interaction opcode(s) for Interaction Index > 0xFF on: 2007 April 03, 01:34:24
Anybody know off the top of their head what magic opcode bits to twiddle on Push Interaction (0x000D) to reference an interaction index above 0xFF?

Careful, Jordi.  You're in danger of taking live rounds out of JM's anti-Inteenimater cannon by "compatiblizing" all his mods :*)
21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Jump/No Action When Asking For Homework Help on: 2007 March 20, 05:54:11
Yes, InTeen already includes the age transition fix.
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Townie Keep Memories on: 2007 March 04, 13:42:38
It's actually not as odd as you might think.  The move-in/move-out code is responsible for transference of household funds as well as aging of teens to young adults (on college move-in) and young adults to adults (college move-out).  The InTeenimater modifies parts of the move-in controller to allow for university families.  no20k modifies this controller as well to prevent dissemination of the 20K bonus.  Unfortunately, we both touch upon a shared component of this controller.

It's probably something that is easily resolved I would think.

Couldn't you use Merola's mind control mirror for that?

This mod is also a good alternative if all you want is to make Townies selectable/controllable.
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is there a hack for Rich Sims on: 2007 January 23, 18:15:56
If you do look into that, maybe it would help to consult Jase's no lottery move in fix.  He updated it for Pets as well.  I also would prefer that households "lose" the money that a sim moving out takes with them.  There may be funky issues with this, especially regarding moving in/marrying sims across sub-neighborhoods, since you still have that problem where the game cannot "see" the full assets of a family that is in another sub-neighborhood.

Ste

The GSC that adjusts assets on a remote lot is borked.  It's never worked.  You can read, but you cannot write except to the active lot.  Conceivably, you could stuff a token on one of the residents of the remote lot and have a controller which polls for the presence of said token and deducts the appropriate amount of cash from household funds when the lot is loaded.  Maybe I'll do that for version 3.0 Smiley  Or maybe Maxis can just fix the fracking bug.
25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: ah screw it! (time for starting over, so what's the best way) on: 2006 December 13, 03:29:00
I think I need to give it up and start over.  I dread loading my game b/c it takes so long.

I was beta testing Inteen and in doing so I did it with a fresh game, no downloads whatsoever...it was awesome how fast the game loaded and I really didn't miss that much stuff at all.

One of my beta testers told me once it took over 30 minutes to load her game.  I remember asking her once, "Hey, could you drop this into your game 'real quick' and restart?" and she replied, "Restart?  Do you have any idea what you are asking?!"

Anyway, if you have 3 or more expansions and are even a modest content junkie, anything less than 1Gig of RAM is a non-starter IMO.
