Just the three stars, it worked with my game.  In the end I had about three or four sims affected by this (I picked it up pretty fast since I took advantage of the awesome and went around my neighbourhood to ensure the next generation)

I've found with babies named *** (bunch of numbers) you can edit their name even if they're not in your household.  So long as you know their last name, typing 'editsim *** lastname' into the cheat window will bring them up in CAS.

Also, you have to eat the apples or watermelons in the first trimester of pregnancy as the gender is chosen when the pregnancy starts to show.  All the sim men in my family are doctors and they have been able to ascertain the gender as soon as their wife started to show.

Its a global mod, not an object one so you won't find it like the Insim.

You can get a file from the awesomemod thread that lets you pick and choose your options and those'll show up in game when you try what Jordi told you.

Yes thats the correct place to install.  The loading screen crash is something thats mentioned in the thread where the download is.

Program Files is on your 'C' drive.

If you've got the TS3 Installer Monkey you shouldn't need to go into the sims 3 files.  Once the Monkey is installed, you're meant to unzip/extract awesomemod to your desktop then right click on it and it should have an option to "install to sims 3" click on that (I beleive this information is in the thread that the download is attached to).

If, on the other hand, you're having problems with the Monkey itself, you should ask the person who made it over at Mod the Sims.
