51  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AWESOMEMOD 4.0.87 (AMB) TEST THREAD on: 2010 June 18, 01:24:02
In the vein of Firefighting issues: I have a missing fire truck. My sim went to work for several days with no problems, even upgraded the horsepower to 1, but then after a mission to put out a fire, the truck never returned to its parking spot. It appears when the sim needs to drive to an emergency, but never returns to its parking space, which means there's no way to maintain it or upgrade it.
I tried switching to another household and initiating a Firefighting career. I got the opening message you get when you start out as a firefighter, but still the truck did not reappear.
I have, of course, checked the sim's inventory. No truck there either.

ShortyBoo I don't have the frame work in I took all my mods and packages out to try Ambitions.  When my card started screaming and going at over 150 fps I decided to try the limiter.  It worked first time just put the file in your ambitions directory this includes the 3booter execute, fps limiter execute, HookHelper dll and Limiter D3D9 dll those are the files I used.

I'm banging my head against a wall with this. I've installed the four files you indicate above into Program Files/Electronic Arts/The Sim 3 Ambitions and then I tried creating a Mods folder there and putting it in that. No luck. What am I missing?

Edit: Re-downloading 3booter did the trick. Not sure why, but I'm pleased anyway.
53  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AWESOMEMOD 4.0.87 (AMB) TEST THREAD on: 2010 June 16, 22:48:34
For instance; One EAxian quirk I've noticed in Ambitions is that the Perceptive personality trait does not show up when other sims examine the Perceptive sim's traits in the relationships tab or in the drop-down menu during interaction. The Perceptive sim appears (to other sims) to only have four traits. Is AM able to make that visible, or does it not matter?

I've noticed this with other new traits: Dramatic and Eco-Friendly. I have one sim who displays only 3 traits when I browse the family tree or look at her in another sim's relationship tab (to be clear, the three she shows up with are pre-AMB traits: Family-Oriented, Neat, Neurotic--missing are Dramatic and Eco-Friendly).

Found a more appropriate place for my FPS limiter question.
54  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AWESOMEMOD 4.0.87 (AMB) TEST THREAD on: 2010 June 16, 01:51:59
The aweconfig maker? I dont think that has been updated yet. Activate it in game if you want to try it out, "setconfig novanillapudding true". It'll be hard to test in a normal play setting, so if you wanna just see what it does, do what I did: "Destroyallhumans" followed by "Spawnmoreoverlords" (be sure testingcheats is enabled), to respawn an entire town of people to ogle.

Thanks, that worked.

I dl'ed AM today and so far have no problems.
A non-AM weirdness (I know because it started before I installed): Ever since my sim reached the top of the PI profession, the other sims in his household will run over to him in between tasks... to admire him? Who knows. It's annoying. He doesn't have any LT rewards or traits that would justify such behavior, either. Perhaps something that El Presidente can squash when he has a chance?
55  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AWESOMEMOD 4.0.87 (AMB) TEST THREAD on: 2010 June 15, 16:56:44
Confirm that NoVanillaPudding works nicely. It doesn't appear to work with slider multiplication, I am not sure if that is intended or not, but an entirely freshly spawned town seemed to have a lot more nose and eye and mouth and jaw variety than usual, and I also noticed significantly more semi-overweight and overweight sims.

I just went through the More Stupid Than You config page and didn't see this option. I want to enable it, though. Am I blind?
56  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Patch 1.11/2.6/3.2 on: 2010 April 19, 03:47:30
Oh boy. That's hilarious. ^

And I just wanted to say, I *did* read all the threads I found referencing the new patch. I just wasn't clear on whether the latest AM worked with it or not, since Pescado didn't update the patch number on the download page. I'm just not that psychic, I'm afraid. So I do appreciate the clarification, it was necessary, particularly since I'm not very tech savvy and if I fuck something up I'm going to cause a lot more headaches begging for people to help me un-fuck it up.

And I was trying to be funny with the hospital remark (although it was, in fact, true). Sorry if the humor was lost on people.
57  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2010 April 17, 01:37:10
Is there a feature (or, barring that, an Awesome-compatible mod) that allows users to see if a person is a Young Adult or Adult? It's slightly annoying to woo a person and find that your Sim is ~10 days to Adult and your potential love interest is ~5 days to Elder.

Well, this may not be a complete fix, but I like to "resetage" any sim I'm wooing to make sure that they are at least at the start of their adult phase.

edited for stupid error
58  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Patch 1.11/2.6/3.2 on: 2010 April 17, 01:12:40
Hi folks. I've been out for about 2.5 weeks due to hospitalization (and yes, including that info was an attempt to trigger your mercy on me for being a peasant who knows nothing). I just want to be clear. If I want to dl the latest AM, I need to patch to 2.6 first?

Edit: Thanks, Witch!
59  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Here we go again on: 2010 March 30, 04:51:07
What's the new patch number? I'm avoiding the launcher so it won't ninja me.
60  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2010 February 25, 20:16:12
It just said 'moved in to' and no address or family name wth it.
The house icon in edit town didn't change, so nothing got added it seems.

The family do appear on the listhomeless list.

Have you tried giving them more money? That works for me with homeless sims. You do "listhomeless" which tells you how much they have, and then "familyfunds [lastname] 175000" or some similarly higher number than what they have so they can find a house they can afford.
61  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2010 February 24, 07:56:26
I'm not understanding how school swapping works.

I'm building a new school with mini rabbit holes, and there's one for elementary and one for high.

But any sims I test it on can only choose "Start elementary school" on one. The other says "Go to School" but it is grayed out as "School is not in session"(even if it is) and it seems like non-user-controlled sims don't go to ANY autonomously(despite having school listed in their job panel).

Hm? Sad

This is happening to me too. I suspected it was my own fault, though, as I built a small library on the HS lot, and then classified the lot as a library (I like the study moodlet on a school lot--as a teacher, I find it gratifying). I figured the fact that my schools wouldn't sort was based on that. I plan to test out destroying the existing schools and placing two new ones on plain community lots to see if that makes a difference.
62  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: those motherfuckers.... 1.10.6??? on: 2010 February 18, 03:22:24
My game is trying to make me update too. When the launcher loads, it tells me my base game is incompatible with my expansion pack. But it IS compatible with WA because I have all the updates up to 1.10.6 and I don't have Loft Stuff. It won't let me click play or anything else on the launcher except to update. I tried updating and it told me there was a script error, which I assume is because I don't have Loft Stuff? So I can't update or play my game.

Have you tried starting the game by bypassing the launcher? Because it sounds like you are only starting the game using the launcher. That is a bad idea anyway. The launcher is EVIL. If you want a good combo, download 3booter and add FPSlimiter. 3booter will start your game and FPSlimiter, bypassing the launcher. FPSlimiter is cool because it keeps TS3 from frying your video card. Search these forums for more info on both.

If you don't want to use these programs, you can still start your game bypassing the launcher by going to program files/electronic arts/game/bin/TS3.exe or something like that. Double click on TS3.exe.

Is there a way to ensure that the NPC's don't get allocated specific items, and if not is there a way to fix it? One of the maids in my 'hood has the stupid Santa hats and I'm not sure how to get rid of it.

If you have AM installed you should be able to type the cheat, "mirror [sim first and last name]" and then have the ability to change the maid's hair and makeup. I've done it before, although it was a while ago.
64  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Create-A-World Tips, Tricks, and Annoyances on: 2010 February 12, 01:18:25
Yeah, Zazazu is right, the lot was flat. I flattened the ground before placing it. I eventually put down a level of foundation before placing the lot, so that's flat too. I placed the lot on the foundation using moveobjects, so once I've playtested I'll edit back and report on how it's behaving in game.
65  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Create-A-World Tips, Tricks, and Annoyances on: 2010 February 11, 02:53:38
I'm having trouble placing a city hall on a 64X64 lot. It claims that the object is going out of bounds, which it isn't.

The lot is totally flat. Should I use MoveObjects? Will that create any problems?

Edit: Thanks, all. I used moveobjects. Haven't tested with sims yet; I'll edit back if I have a problem with their accessing it.
66  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2010 February 10, 07:09:39
Okay, my problem is, I made a world in CAW, and I gave all the lots in my 'rich' subdivision a 75 for beautiful vista.  In playing the game however, I realized what a mistake this was.  Now I am looking for a way to either remove the beautiful vista moodlet entirely, or reduce it to a smaller value on each individual lot.  Does awesomemod have any functionality like this yet?  If not, I would like to request it.

Also, I would like to know how to change the address of a lot using Ctrl-click or whatever - if that's possible.  If not, I request that too!

Have you tried editing each lot by selecting it? I'm new to CAW but I noticed you can (apparently) edit the values by selecting the lot. The info comes up in the middle-left column, if that makes sense. Anyway, I changed the beautiful vista value in one lot that way, although I'm nowhere near testing anything out so I might be wrong about that actually working.
67  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / those motherfuckers.... 1.10.6??? on: 2010 February 09, 23:57:44
I went to update my game since AM is now compatible with 1.9 etc. and the fucking launcher ninja'ed me with an update to 1.10.6. Those motherfuckers. I assume I can't play with AM now?
68  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2010 January 28, 06:36:29
Is there any way to get around the awesomemod expiration date? I have the sims 3 installed on a computer w/out Internet access, in a detached building where I can't easily access an online computer. I have awesomemod installed as a matter of course, but since it's a pain in the ass to keep updating my awesomemod via flash drive, and since I only play my game once a week anyway, I really don't want to keep re-downloading a new version every 2 weeks. Is there any way to circumvent this expiration business?

I haven't tried this myself, but I recall reading that the way to avoid the expiry date is to change the date on your computer.
69  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2010 January 12, 19:40:41
It will not change the hair setting of any existing sim, it will merely purge the piece of data which causes all sims to inherit that hair.

Does this happen to all sims regardless of hairstyle, or just a few selected as "weird"?
I don't mind if it's everyone, come to think of it. I've always found the inheritance of hairstyles to be very annoying. Who inherits a hairstyle? How scary would that be in RL? We'd all be in bouffants.
70  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2010 January 12, 03:10:02

I reread some of the cheats, and it raised an old question for me. How does the purgegenetichairs affect the game? I mean, I get the general idea. It gets rid of weird hair. But which hairstyles are considered weird? And how does it get rid of them, does it cause sims with weird hair to randomly choose a new hairstyle? Or does it just break the genetic thingy that causes their offspring to have the same hair? Do I need to send sims to the Mirror and pick a new style for them for it to work?

I'd very much appreciate if someone could break it down for me, as hair is one of the aspects of the game I get the most anal about, for some reason.
71  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 December 28, 01:45:20
So, how is this done, and is anyone doing it?
Well, I did it. I made it to make the Undiscovered Shinies that Fat Gwilly People haven't asked for. Other than that, no, no one is doing it.

I'd really like to make my own traits and moodlets. Any chance of someone coming out with a utility for an idiot like me to use? I offer everlasting gratitude in return.
72  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 December 05, 09:08:46
Hello.

I've got a silly question, If I had the AM story mode enabled, can I disable the EAxis one on options? Or do I have to have it on?

Thanks in advance.

In my experience story mode must be switched on for AwesomeStory to function. Which makes sense if you think about it--that way you can enable AwesomeStory in your config and still be able to turn it off in the options menu for time to time for whatever reason.
73  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Be Careful Discussing Awesomemod! on: 2009 December 04, 23:24:13
Did you have the "original" that you bought installed, or a pirated version?

Original.
74  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 December 04, 03:33:21
I have installed Awesomod more time than I can count in the past so I know how to install it (unless something has changed with this new patch)

I think it has. You might want to read some of the threads that deal with this--I have had quite a struggle understanding it myself, so I will not try ot explain, but there are various ideas out there about whether to install AM in the WA folders or the base game folders. It has to do with whether you have a mac or pc, and there are probably other considerations. All I know is I got mine working eventually.

FWIW, I find no one attacks me if I follow proper grammar, spelling, punctuation and capitalization. I think in this culture it is a sign of respect to post using these language rules. It's like going to Paris and walking up to someone and demanding directions in English. They'll either be rude to you or send you in the wrong direction. I speak from experience, being half French and having lived there for 6 years. If you show them the respect of addressing them in their language, they'll usually be helpful.
75  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Be Careful Discussing Awesomemod! on: 2009 December 04, 03:05:24
Besides, if you're a launcher tard, it won't even function as that.

I don't understand. I was a launcher tard for a while (I think--if I understand correctly that what you mean by that is "tard who starts the game using the launcher") before folks here showed me the error of my ways, and I always played without the cd.
