26  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: I lost my key code. on: 2012 July 09, 02:36:14
Hi Pescado. Thanks for answering yet another of my questions, and know that the following question hurts me more than it hurts you:

Is the TPB store the online EA store, or something else?
27  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / I lost my key code. on: 2012 July 08, 23:30:18
I had my pc cleaned up and upgraded, and the guy warned me he would wipe it. So I diligently collected all my game boxes and made sure I had every one (I am too ignorant to go about accessing games in any way other than the traditional buy-the-box method, and downloading off the EA site worries me). Of course, I did not have the foresight to open each box and make sure the manuals were inside.

I'm missing two. One was for Pets, and I registered that one with EA, so I'm hoping I can retrieve my code from them. The other was for Ambitions, and that one I never registered, so it's just gone. I've moved seven times in the last six years. The likelihood of recovering that manual is... well, lower than my IQ, apparently. So I'm throwing myself on your mercy, Awesomefolks. Is there a way to retrieve my key code for Ambitions? My pc guy backed up all my files, if that's of any use. I cannot afford to buy a game right now, and will probably not be able to any time before October, At which time I may or may not want to purchase the supernatural expansion pack. It would be nice not to have to shell out for both.

I'm not against alternative game acquisition methods, just clueless. Please advise.

Starler, thanks, problem resolved due to your link and advice.

Virgali, yes, sorry, you are right of course. I didn't know where to put it. I figured it was a form of pudding but it probably isn't. Thanks everyone for your patience. Please feel free to spork the hell out of me.
29  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: recommend a graphics card on: 2012 June 29, 20:14:03
Do you have a preference between ATI and Nvidia? I'm guessing not, but you never can be sure.

ETA: Anandtech's Holiday 2011 Budget PC guide is probably a good place to start. They recommend AMD/ATI cards as the best bang for your $100 budget.

Thanks for the response and for the link. As you pointed out, I have no preference. Actually one of the reasons I came here to ask about it was in case there was wisdom about which is better. The guy doing the upgrade asked me which I liked better, and I, of course, have no idea. Making a note of the AMD/ATI recommendation, thanks again.
30  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / recommend a graphics card on: 2012 June 29, 18:40:12
Hi all,
I'm upgrading my RAM and doing a few other things to try and avoid CTDs and errors of various flavors. I also want to upgrade my graphics card. I currently have a Geforce 7950 GT from about 5 years ago. The guy helping me with my upgrades noted it's a PCI express. He also said I have a very good motherboard. Anyway, I was hoping for advice on the best card to get to replace it. No way can I afford anything brand new. It would be nice for the card not to exceed $100. It would be great if you Awesomepeople would recommend a good card for me, as I am clueless and would likely choose poorly on my own.

Thanks in advance.
31  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: oops I broke it / no more strays on: 2012 June 22, 17:54:29
I'll look into it. Do "listhomeless". Do you see them in the Pets fambly? If so, then you're fine, they just happen to be slow about appearing.

Thanks, El Presidente. Listhomeless shows 58 in the pets household, so I'm good.
32  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / oops I broke it / no more strays on: 2012 June 21, 17:42:31
I wanted to start over without deserting my world, which I've been improving upon for a few weeks, so I opted for "destroyallhumans." Now I have no strays or adoptables, although there are still a couple of wild horses, deer and a raccoon. When I do "ShowPetPoolStats" I get this:

So, somehow I have 62 pets, all are supposed to be in pools, but it doesn't seem to line up.

I've been playing for about 1 sim week since the mass murder.

Is there a way to fix this? I'd like to have strays and adoptable pets back in the game. Thanks in advance for any advice.
33  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Error codes 12 and 13 along with crashing. on: 2011 October 06, 23:05:48
I have 3.25 gigs of RAM. How much RAM do you need?
34  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Create-A-World Tips, Tricks, and Annoyances on: 2011 January 27, 04:03:12
I tried to dl the 1.6 patch for CAW, and had all sorts of problems. So I uninstalled CAW and down loaded it again, and the patch doesn't come up in the launcher. Before I invest a lot of time in building a world, would someone please clarify for me: did I down a version that is somehow already patched? And if not, what do I do now?
35  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesome Testversion on: 2010 November 06, 01:38:09
Okay, I had installed this test version under:
C:\Documents and Settings\user\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages
Which is where I've been extracting to for a while now, with no difficulties. I'm guessing there's a new place I need to install? Because showconfig does nothing.

Also, fps limiter isn't going on either. 3booter works, though.
36  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesome Testversion on: 2010 October 31, 17:45:49
As we are all Awesome addicts and we cannot obviously go a day without it, it would certainly save a lot of unwanted threads if there was a link to the testing version in the main AM release sticky. http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/ts3/test/

Does hitting the thanks button actually notify a person that you've thanked them? Or does it just taunt you with the "Baa"? Because while I *had* bookmarked it, I was too stupid to remember I had. So this was helpful, thanks.
37  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Game Update for: 1.15/2.10/3.6/4.3 on: 2010 September 12, 02:56:14
Okay, so the latest AM is compatible with 4.3? Cause I dl'ed AM today and now I have a critical core mismatch. I figure that means I have to dl 4.3. May I humbly suggest that the numbers be updated on the AM download page?
38  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2010 September 03, 00:42:49
The shouty one is right, though. It's a debug interaction labeled "Make Sim" that gets added to the terrain. You probably need to click on terrain belonging to a residential lot, or at least you shouldn't use it on anything else but that (otherwise the created sim won't be added to a household).

Click how? I've tried shift-click, ctr-shift-click, and ctr-click, in the center of an inhabited residential lot. What am I doing wrong? (Yes, debug interactions is enabled, I did a showconfig before I started just to be sure.)
39  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2010 September 01, 05:00:11
What's the point of warning labels if people won't even read them? SHEESH.

Well, sure. But Unreliavole doesn't mean ALWAYS wrong. Just unreliable, right? I figured I'd test it to see where this particular instance landed. And the label was, in fact, confirmed. If we were talking bottles of poison, I'd be dead now.

edited for clarity
40  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2010 August 29, 20:44:44
You can do it in Sims 3. It requires debug commands to be enabled.

Okay, I tested this. No dice.
41  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: clicking and creating a random sim in household? on: 2010 August 27, 14:24:01
Hi,

I used to play Sims 3 with AwesomeMode a year ago and remember being able to Shift click  or something like that in any household and it would give me a option to create a random sim...I could choose the age and gender.  I can't find it now.  I don't believe I had any other mods except AwesomeMod.

Can anyone tell me how I can do that again...  Thank you for your help !!

I could be wrong, but I think this was something you could do in TS2.
42  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2010 August 13, 02:25:22
Could someone tell me the awesome console command to access the special merchant's wares from every vacation world? I know I read it here, but I cannot find it anymore, and the search button isn't being helpful.

ETA: Nevermind. After searching the threads for half the afternoon, I found it on the RTFM: it's "adventureshop", if anyone else is interested.

Had you tried typing "help" into the cheat bar while playing? You get a nifty list of commands that way.
43  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2010 July 30, 01:55:02
Anyway, I was wondering if you'd be able to point me in the right direction on how to create my own trait.

I would also like this.
44  Awesomeware / Armoire of Invincibility / Re: TOOL: 3Booter, the Incooperative Game Kicker on: 2010 July 13, 19:05:34
I re-downloaded/installed and checked again in game and I'm still getting high frame rates ...

Help?

Have you re-downloaded 3Booter? That worked for me.
Also, FYI, hitting F10 toggles the green numbers and you can do it on the loading screen to check if it's working.
45  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Sims starving to death on: 2010 July 13, 04:54:09
Yeah, your neighborhood is definitely showing some severe lag. My mskew is only about 2 hours, with an average resolution of about 20 minutes. With your neighborhood, the game isn't processing some people for nearly 15 hours! Obviously, by then, they may have starved to death. Maybe if your computer wasn't expending so much power on rendering your ENORMOUSLY FAT HEAD...

Is this a problem that upgrading RAM or something will fix? I would really appreciate if someone who knows how this works would advise me. I'm happy to upgrade my pc in the service of good simming.
46  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AWESOMEMOD 4.0.87 (AMB) TEST THREAD on: 2010 June 22, 00:04:58
I'm having a similar issue, I created 8 famblies of 6 sims each for genetic seeding and moved them in.  The storymode still insisted on creating another 7 famiblies of various sizes over the course of the next 3 game days, pretty much trashing my carefully crafted gene pool.  Is there any way to block immigration or at least limit it to when its really needed.  Smashing these illegal immigrants does nothing, the game just makes new ones almost immediately.

A work-around that comes to mind is to create ancestral homes (by putting the fambly last name into the name of the estate) without cribs for the famblies you don't want breeding, and moving them into them.

This won't stop the sims you aren't controlling from dating the immigrants, though.

Edited to add in a rather crucial word I left out the first time round.  Roll Eyes
47  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AWESOMEMOD 4.0.87 (AMB) TEST THREAD on: 2010 June 19, 07:18:34
Also, I seem to have some invisible woman walking around. You can see her head and feet but not her body. I doubt it's an AM problem but I can't seem to find any problem CC that would explain it.

Sounds like a problem I read about with pregnant elders. Apparently there's no clothes for them, so for the duration of pregnancy they have no body, just feet and head. Could it be something like that?
48  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AWESOMEMOD 4.0.87 (AMB) TEST THREAD on: 2010 June 19, 02:52:30
Sup everyone, has anyone had any problem installing framework with Ambitions? Also don't answer with answers such as "there's a SEARCH BUTTON" I'm well aware of that.

Read the FAQ. You've painted a big red target on yourself.
49  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AWESOMEMOD 4.0.87 (AMB) TEST THREAD on: 2010 June 18, 17:04:34
As a workaround until AM has a "spawnfiretrucks" command you could probably use edit town and add one to the fire station.  At least then it would exist to repair and upgrade.  The only possible problem I can think with that is your sim might still use the phantom un-upgraded un-repaired firetruck to go to emergencies instead of using the new one you put in the firehouse.  I'm guessing that wouldn't happen as the game is probably spawning a temp firetruck since it has no real one to use... but who knows.

Test it out and let us know if the one you make gets used or if it just sits in the firehouse when you go to emergencies.

That did work, although as Pescado has now fixed the firetruck bug, it's probably not all that relevent anymore.

New firefighting bug: the alarms are going off permanently. No emergency, just constant alarms. It's not an animation glitch as my sim is unable to sleep through them.

50  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AWESOMEMOD 4.0.87 (AMB) TEST THREAD on: 2010 June 18, 01:51:46
Will do, Simius.

One question: is the AwesomeMod Configuration Tool available for this test version? Where can I find It? Thanks. Embarrassed

I just use the one linked on the main AM download page.
