26  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The Sims 3 Expansion In My Head on: 2009 July 06, 12:29:30
I would just like to see expansions turning this game into a toy again... The Sims 3 expansion in my head can be summed up in four words: 'Just finish the game'.

THIS. Exactly. This is why I just friggin went back to TS2. TS3 is just too effin... stressful! Jesus, it's like real life. Only more pointless, and somehow, they managed to make it even more depressing.

Wanna have a baby?

Why? Does it really matter? The babies are just gonna be fug anyway.

Wanna get to the top of your career?

Why? What are you gonna do with that money? There's no object that is much more beneficial than another one - all your needs can be rock bottom and you'll be fine, and you can just raise them back up on a community lot anyway. (It takes a friggin' Sim week to die for chrissake!)

Wanna skill and grind your entire life?

Why? You're just gonna DIE anyway.

Every single Sim is so effin' replaceable and interchangeable. There's just no reason to play the game anymore, and I hate it. /emo
27  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Making a better face skin... on: 2009 July 03, 07:54:46
I was talking about in all the photos. Am I just crazy and it's only there in my mind? Shocked Yeah, IIRC the square was ever-present, but HP's faces just blew it up about x1000. I had to remove hers just because they bothered me so much.

Here's a photo from my game of a Sim with the Forehead Square:

Unfortunately I couldn't find a more zoomed in pic of it since I only had her skins for a couple of days and noticed the ugly right away. I can't remember exactly if that was with HP's skins or not, but I'm inclined to say that was. It looks more noticeable full-size, which I can't post to the board, but in my game the Square was absolutely HORRID.

I would absolutely LOVE a skin that could fix that, if it be possible.

The Forehead Square was brought up briefly on this thread (though you probably already read it): http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,15233.msg441208/topicseen.html#msg441208

Same here with the aliens. I never really fooled around with the other supernaturals, mostly because I felt the perks outweighed the new negatives of their form. That, and I'm a lazy ass mofo and always felt the getting them part was too boring/hard without cheats. But aliens? All my favorite male Sims had at least one alien progeny. And my gay male couples were practically a breeding ground for them.

What would be awesome is if aliens would come back in the next expansion, but actually have something else, y'know, cool about them... Instead of just being green (or whatever color) skins, they would learn skills faster, or they would have an option to hitch a ride on the mothership or something and get all their motives fulfilled overnight.
29  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Missing gravestones, anyone? on: 2009 July 03, 05:05:11
Are you talking about Sims in your active family, or Sims on other lots?

Coz if you're talking about on other lots, I think that's just normal game behavior.. Sorry. I had Kaylyn (sp?) Langerak die and was horrified when her gravestone was nowhere to be seen when I loaded the lot again. I've read in tons of other places about similar stories. But I'm just talking about pre-Awesomemod Random Bus of Dooooom.

The game just tends to do away with gravestones most of the time, apparently...
30  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Unlucky Sims. Hmmm on: 2009 July 03, 04:05:02
Really? I coulda sworn I was feeling really angsty one day and tried to burn an entire family's house down only to realize a daughter was Unlucky. I gave up and testingcheatsenabled her Hunger down and Grimmy took her.

I killed her as a teen prematurely, so it is possible, though mebbe only cheatable...

Anyone else tried this?

People always like to stereotype vegetarians as annoying preachers whereas my experience is that most people immediately question me and want me to justify why I do not eat meat, as if I am attacking them by choosing to live differently!

I think even if there isn't an undiscovered effect from this trait, it's cool to have it just as another way to make Sim individuals different. I like the interactions related to it.

Buuuuut, wouldn't it be cool if we could have coolness aaaand actual features?

Is that too much to ask? Thus, I say, down with EA's idea of vegematarians. I'll keep my horny baby-makers.
32  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Making a better face skin... on: 2009 July 03, 03:33:07
I like it. It looks much less blobby and gelatinous than the defaults already.

One thing though, WTF is up with that big white square in the middle of the forehead?? I thought that was only a result of HP's custom skins (well mostly). Is it just your game's settings? Can someone figure out what the eff that is caused by? I never noticed it before, but now that I have, it's all I can stare at. It's better in your custom skin, but it's still there to me...
33  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The Sims 3 Expansion In My Head on: 2009 July 03, 03:15:56
There are supernatural entities in the game; they're called ghosts.

If Stephanie Meyer wrote a book about ghosts, these are the ones you would get.

Hee hee, yet no sparkles. I are sad  Sad

Maybe in future Awesomemod.. if Christmas comes early this year.
34  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Making Playable Ghosts on: 2009 June 24, 06:27:56
Have you tried this mod in your game? And doesn't it conflict with the Awesomemod?

Read the thread. About five comments down, the author says specifically that it will indeed conflict with the Awesomemod.

You should go to the Awesomemod requests thread, if someone hasn't posted that there already.
35  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Kleptos Only Stealing Light Fixtures on: 2009 June 23, 05:26:45
I know, but come on admit it. Verbal thanks warm your Grinch heart. You love them.

I was intentionally exaggerating on the number of lights, for mildly humorous effect. (Or not.) But on the top floor of the Riverview museum, there's two lights on either side of every painting, which makes at least 8 lights in that one room - the most expensive room. Yeah, I guess I'll have to cut down on the number of lights for all the rooms, or make them inaccessible through moveobjects. Wonder if that would work? Tbh I didn't think of just selling them before. I feel stoopidiful.

Sorry, I misunderstood sadorandom; I misread it as pseudorandom. Pah. I thought that's what you meant. Google is my friend.

So I guess I'm just screwed on the Kleptos. Oh well. EA sucks and swallows. What else is new. I'll keep clicking in the meantime.
36  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Kleptos Only Stealing Light Fixtures on: 2009 June 23, 04:18:20
Really? Hmm, duly noted. It would be hilarious to go into the Bunch household and steal all their beds *snicker*. Try breeding again now, bitches!!

Kind of off-topicish, but what does returning items do? Does it grant a positive moodlet of any real benefit? Maybe I could find somewhat of a use for all these piles of light fixtures Roll Eyes
37  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Making Playable Ghosts on: 2009 June 23, 04:09:41
Is there a "kill instantly" option somewhere in the debug modes, as there was with the tombstone object in TS2?  I find the process of killing via accidents (fire, drowning, etc) tedious and distasteful, and you really have to work at it to kill a Sim in TS3.

When in the main menu (the one where it asks you to load your save/neighborhood/start a new game), enter the debug code (testingcheatsenabled true for those that don't know). Go into your lot and on the Sim's Hunger bar all the way to the minimum with your mouse. The game needs to be unpaused to see the result. That should do it, and you'll get a spankin' new Hunger Ghost! Yay. Just beware of any food you leave in its path. Or cute kittens.
38  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Kleptos Only Stealing Light Fixtures on: 2009 June 23, 04:00:58
Hrm. So I suppose official consensus = Kleptoism is teh fail.

Haven't done any further testing but maybe grand theft auto is just broken.

For your problem I'd suggest you just steal a few lights and come back the next day. With fewer lights nearby you'll probably have better luck getting the painting.

For what it's worth, I went to a neighbor's house and she had a very nice car parked in a small garage. After taking the lights of course, my Sim swiped her car and is now driving it without problem. That was one of the items I successfully swiped that wasn't a light. I think you encountered a glitch.

The lots reset every day at 3 p.m. and stolen objects get replaced (at least on community lots, haven't tested it on residential), or I would. But thanks.

Seriously, it's redonkulous that I had my Sim go into the most expensive room of the Riverview museum, and no matter how many times I clicked, she always went for the freakin' light fixtures when there was a $1000 chair sitting in front of her. That's just illogical.
39  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Kleptos Only Stealing Light Fixtures on: 2009 June 23, 02:53:43
So it really is random-ish then? Hrm. Even after multiple clicks, they still go for the lights, but I'll keep trying to see if I can jack a few paintings from the museum.

What do you mean by "eliminate the incorrect choices"? Increase my distance from the lights, and lower my proximity to the desired object I assume. I get what you mean, but it doesn't seem possible when there's like 10 lights overhead my desired object. If you meant retrials, then it's possible to keep trying and get the desired object?

Sorry for the badgering, I'm just anxious to make my Kleptos functional, and not just quirky.

EDIT: Where are my manners? Thank you for the reply Smiley.
40  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Acquaintances going boom from contacts? on: 2009 June 23, 02:44:23
Rawr. Lame. Well thanks for the confirmation. I only noticed it once, so I thought I was going crazy(er). I can see why they implemented it though, but I just wish there was a manual right-click function Ditch.../The Loser or something.
41  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Kleptos Only Stealing Light Fixtures on: 2009 June 23, 01:25:03
I've played two Kleptos, and when I instruct them to steal anything on any lot, no matter how much clicking I do, all I can ever seem to get them to steal is the friggin $30 light fixtures, while I hear from other players how their supposedly overpowered Kleptos are stealing $12k worth statues and crap. Twice, I managed to steal something else, but that was when everything else in the room was depleted - they stoleded all the lights first  Angry.

I bet it's probably in the code that Sims are hardwired to steal the least expensive items first, (even if they're across the room and that nice shiny $10,000 painting is two steps away, as mine seem to do) to keep from being too overpowered. But am I missing something? Do I just suck? Any tips? I click RIGHTNEXT to the expensive things, but they'll go across the room for the lights. This is frustrating as hell. I feel like I wasted a trait slot.

Any thoughts are appreciated  Smiley

Sorry, forgot to add - I checked in Edit Town and she was still there in her house.

EDIT: I just had my other Sim in the household go knock on her door, and she came out to let her in. Bizarre.
43  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Acquaintances going boom from contacts? on: 2009 June 23, 00:23:15
De-lurking after like a year. Yay me and my lazy!

K, so I was playing my Hunter Cottoneye in Riverview. I had him get a job in Journalism, where Constance Shelley was his boss, and thus became his acquaintance. He switched career tracks and after that never spoke to Constance again. One day, maybe over a Sim week or more later, I was looking at his relationships panel, and I noticed there was no more Constance. Can't call her, can't nothin'. I was like Huh. I was under the impression that Sims stayed in others' contacts forev, no matter how much neglect was done to the relationship, just as in TS2?

Is this a bug or something, or a game feature? I hadn't noticed this before this instance, but then again I don't pay attention.

I suppose I'm freaking over nothing, but I've always had the habit with my Sims of collecting contacts for future babymaking, so I'm just wondering if this was something I had to watch out for now.

Do they always  make apple pancakes because apple starts with a and eating the things out of your fridge alphabetically somehow makes evil-random sense?

No they can make grape pancakes too.  I just buy a bunch of the fruit of choice, put it in the pregnant Sims's inventory, and allow her to eat nothing else but that fruit from her inventory through her entire pregnancy.  Except if I'm going for a boy, I will allow her apple pancakes - but that's about when she'll make GRAPE pancakes instead.  I just do the watermelon or apples in the inventory method and it hasn't failed me yet.

That is because when cooking, Sims chose the ingredients in their inventory first, then fridge ingredients. So, say you had a bunch of apples & watermelon in your fridge. You want a girl, so you drag watermelon into her inventory. When she cooks, if applicable, she will use the watermelon. If she has apples in her inventory, drag them out.

Edited for typo.
45  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Making Playable Ghosts on: 2009 June 22, 21:53:28
Ok, so when a Sim in the household dies, your relationship with it resets? So you need to build your relationship with your dead husband back up? Lame.

And also, for the opportunity to arise, the grave isn't supposed to be in your Sim's inventory? Or can it? Evil Prima sez it has to be in your inventory, I believe. But of course, I am doubtful.

I'm wondering because I've been looking forward to having playable ghosts, and attempted it with one Sim, but after several days, got frustrated and gave up. Meh. Shall retry later.
46  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Maternity wear request on: 2009 June 22, 21:34:16
Methinks it would be much more complicated than TS2 or the above mentioned perky boobs mesh, because it is static. In TS2, there was just two bumps, and boom! Bebbeh. In TS3, there's a constant gradual alteration to the mesh. I dunno if that means loooots of files, but probably loooots of work. Meh, just the thoughts of a newb who is talking out of her ass.

EDIT: Poster below me is probably right. *shuts up*
