TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Program and Question: The Commentator
|
on: 2009 April 14, 23:16:56
|
Here is a little program I made in Fortran for my own use, but decided to share. It's The Commentator. You place it a folder with pictures named 1, 2, 3, etc., run it, and it will make a web slideshow with comments out of them. It is not at all confined to sims pictures, either. However, it is non-Awesome at the moment. Here are the problems you might run into:
1. Comments must be typed with quotes or apostrophes around them. This can cause problems with comments that contain both quotes and contractions. 2. And this is the big one, it is a .out file and can only be run in a UNIX environment or emulator. I have searched, but I cannot find a reliable way to compile this program into something windows executable. This is where my question comes in.
Does anyone know a way to compile Fortran into a .exe file? I'll settle with a way to compile C in Windows; rewriting the program isn't a huge problem. If someone shows me how, or I figure it out, I will post a windows version here.
Also, if you have any suggestions on features you want, ways to make it run better, or whatever, please tell me. I just hope at least one person can find some use in this.

This is a sad development.
On the contrary, this is a joyous occasion. Let it be known that canned people are not doomed to a life of stupidity. There are times where repenting and changing your ways can lead to great things.

If you truly believe that LyricLee downloaded the number of files that she did, from the number of sites that she did, just to look at the contents, then it is you with fingers in your ears. If she had only downloaded her own files, or only a few, your argument may have been plausible. To use your own analogy, this is like finding someone with stolen goods on a daily basis. I might give that person the benefit of the doubt once or twice, but after that I would get suspicious.

As awful as this is, I can't say it is surprising. My only hope is that this latest atrocity makes more people aware of TSR's asshattery and nudge fence-sitters in the right direction. I'm glad to see Delphy speaking out, quite passionately, about this, too.

That is supposed to happen. Watering a plant gives some experience, and it can be done very quickly. Best of all, it hardly damages the plant. By the time it is ready to harvest, you'll have been able to repair it.

rpshack.package - fixes Rock Paper Scissors so that it can be beneficial instead of stupid shoonobreakgroup.package - you can shoo people on an outing without ending it skillinator.package - Are you serious? Provides macrotastics support for skills. Very Shiny.

What I am worried about is downloading hacks that are no longer needed, and I don't fully trust downloads in general. I think that I should not rely on third party content unless it is absolutely necessary to run the game properly.
I can't fully express how dumb you sound right now. The hacks in the directory are needed. If they are obsolete, they are removed. Why don't you trust downloads? Been eating too much BBullShit? And the hacks are necessary to run the game properly! Without them, you are guaranteed to get a BFBVFS.

Yeah, I'd just say to download the whole DC. Then weed through and see if there are any you don't really want. I don't use noinstantlove, authorizedpersonnelonly, babycontrol, bathroomusesyou, and noroadpillows. I think that's it. One of the good things about MATY hacks is that you can usually get a good idea of what they do from the name.
You don't use BUY? How do you live?

You can now easily keep all furnishing with Pes' apthack, but if you choose the unfurnished apartment, anything in build mode, fridges, stoves, counters, sinks, toilets, showers, and closets will remain. If an NPC rents the apartment, everything will stay.
Communal area stuff always stays.
Yes, personal gardens are possible.

I've never connected, yet I am still able to get the achievements. Though, if achievements is what it takes to make that game interesting for you, then I really question your taste.

Interesting. All of the shirts I've uploaded have been from Projects. That means none of them work! I'll get on fixing this right away.
Fail averted! Please redownload all files. Also, I have seen the word shirt so many times now that it looks misspelled each time. Ever had that problem?
