51  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Major imbalance of boys vs girls being born on: 2006 January 14, 20:23:30
Exactly how many births have you had in this family, and how many of them have been female?
52  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maxis wants pregnant sims to waste away? on: 2006 January 14, 18:31:40
JM, just chalk it up to emotions. Y'know, those chemical/mental things that you don't seem to have? Used by the brain to speed up decision making?
53  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Crumplebottom Fix on: 2006 January 14, 15:39:06
She even looks kind of like you, JM. Hmm. I may have to clone her in SimPE and make a sim that looks like her. Perfect mate for JM sim, and the children would be truly frightening.
54  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Zombies on: 2006 January 14, 15:31:41
boot them back to the dormie pool so they can shuffle around the university as undead dormies.

How'd you put them back as dormies?

Inge's bush summoner thing? I would guess that the townie pool and the dormie pool are basically the same thing, the game just uses age to differentiate. For once, Maxis passed up a chance to make yet another sim pool.
55  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: Ethiopian Challenge! Because E-Mail Was Too Easy! on: 2006 January 14, 04:23:05
Oh, I am so doing that to a Pescado clone. RIGHT NOW!

edited to add: can I make a dorm that is Ethiopian and Email legal? Or is a dorm non-functional without dorm doors and a cafeteria stove?
Ethiopians technically don't go to Uni at all, but you can construct a dorm that is otherwise Ethiopian-style.

Ooh. No food. No toilets. I don't think the dormies would do very well in that kind of dorm. Heh heh heh.
56  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Graphics question on: 2006 January 13, 03:38:34
Maybe they take the sim away for a couple of hours? Or brings up a dialogue: Would you like to go to the Secret Society lot? Because I like the abductions, but they can get really annoying.
57  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: HACK REQUEST: more want variety for teens and uni students on: 2006 January 13, 03:19:20
The entire problem with the Uni concept is that, fundamentally, school really isn't all that interesting. Even college. In real life, school is pretty boring, and not a terribly great foundation for a game.
58  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: A Hack request if this is possible? on: 2006 January 12, 22:54:46
The basic probably that I have with the romance system in the game, as a simulation of real relationships, is that love isn't a binary property. Ideally (and this is something that Maxis would have to implement, and probably won't happen) "love" would be sort of a seperate relationship bar. Maybe even an invisible one. Only romantic interactions would affect this bar. Or something. Because I'm not one flirt away from falling completely and totally in love with every single one of my friends. That would just be silly.

I do like the one sided break up idea. That would be nifty.
59  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: HACK REQUEST: more want variety for teens and uni students on: 2006 January 12, 22:48:02
I remember Pescado saying something about how the "go to college" want has no check tree, and its impossible to install a check tree on a want that doesn't already have one. This was pre-Nightlife, so I don't know if that's changed. It is massively annoying, because it basically means that teen sims only have 3 want slots for most of that age duration, and if the other slots get clogged with crappy wants (as they are wont to do, in teens especially) it forces them to actually sleep to reset those wants.

Oh, and the reason your sims have "4.0 GPAs or close to it, without much effort or suffering" is because Uni is ridiculously easy. Especially with macrotastics.
60  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Downtown v. hood on: 2006 January 11, 22:56:13
Because it makes people feel like they're getting something, and people like having "new locations." Or something.

Also, I think there might be more people in the DT lots, especially after hours. But that could be a figment of my memory.
61  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Alien Related Custom Content on: 2006 January 11, 22:17:58
Been thinking about this for a while now. Are there any sites that have custom content intended for aliens? I know that genesims has some replacement eyes/skins, and Laverwinkle has those nice replacement skins, but I haven't (for example) been able to find much make up that aliens can really wear. Without looking kind of funky.

So. Assuming that I'm making some vague measure of sense, any suggestions?
62  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: S.O.S. Save our Sims on: 2006 January 11, 21:41:38
You basically set off a time bomb in your neighborhood. Those sims will bring copies of the files of EVERY SIM THEY EVER MET in the old neighborhood who wasn't on the lot with them. This is so they have something to reference in their memories (I guess) but it's a very bad thing, because there are serious errors associated with having massive numbers of sims in your neighborhood, due to asinine coding, and you really don't want to be filling up your neighborhood with junk files. Plus, those junk files can cause problems just on their own.
63  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Remember that Sims2 preview disc? on: 2006 January 11, 21:21:12
They probably decided that having sims actively going around telling people about cheating would make playing a Romance sims too tricky. Or it turned out to be difficult to implement. Or they ran out of time and scaled back on a lot of stuff.

I always got the impression, in the early video previews of gameplay, that the game was much more complex and detailed than it actually turned out to be. May be a perceptions issue, may be an "EA wanted to ship for the holidays" issue. (I wish the beginning of summer was the big "game release" season, rather than the holidays. That's when I have the most time.)
64  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Does cologne affect anything besides turn-ons/off? on: 2006 January 11, 02:00:53
Pescado, King, El Presidente, Grand High Poobah, The Most Awesome One . . . it's all about the same, really.

But that reminds me. Gotta load up the game to finish testing of uber expensive game categorized flamingo.
65  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: New Open for Busioness Video 1/05/05 on: 2006 January 11, 01:14:27
Ooh. R&C does sound fun. Break stuff!

Jak I rocked. Most truly. Jak 2 was . . . er . . . a different game. Very different. At it's best, a humorous and engaging play on the cliches of angsty heroes and post apocalyptic rebellion. At it's worst . . . it's a demonically hard, stupidly cartoony GTA knock off. Jak 3 has much better gameplay, but you must ignore the cut scenes at all costs. The plot is nothing short of aneurysm inducing. Of course, the "plot," such as it is, in the other games probably isn't much better, but I like Jak and Daxter.

I don't play a lot of games, other than Sims 2. Love Jak and Daxter. Play SSX, Tekken Tag, and Lego Star Wars (a most excellent game in two player mode, good for playing with someone who doesn't normally do platformers) when bored. And Jazz Jackrabbit.
66  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Strangehood Genealogy and other anomalies on: 2006 January 10, 05:21:29
Sounds like the kind of sadistic experiment Circe and Loki would pull, too . . . after changing Nervous's aspiration to Romance, of course.
67  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Strangehood Genealogy and other anomalies on: 2006 January 10, 05:08:31
Nuclear option is definitely my bet, on all Maxian type things. Copy out interesting bits, nuke, and reconstruct to taste. Because the Curious brothers are fun, but Loki Beaker is just freaking scary. Hmm . . . I wonder what his and Nervous Subject's kids would look like?
68  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pregnancy length? on: 2006 January 10, 04:03:58
Hey, espresso is good. Sleep, she is for the weak.
69  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: New Open for Busioness Video 1/05/05 on: 2006 January 10, 03:28:26
There are Robotic Ghost Pirate Ninjas in R&C3? I ended up getting Need For Speed Most Wanted instead. I played the demo for R&C3 when it came out and I didnt really like it all that much, not enough breaking stuff and too much running for your life. I quickly got broed with it. I wish I would have gotten the demo to Jax & Daxter Combat Racer, it looked fun.

Jak X is fun. No Pirate Ninjas or anything, but lots of explosions and general mayhem. And a generically foreign dude. Probably not the best Jak and Daxter game, but it's the only one with a two player mode. And they basically scrapped everything that happened in the second half of Jak 3, plotwise. Except Daxter's pants. A most wise decision.

One thing, though. Tan pants and chaps, not a good look. No . . . You keep thinking "Wait -- why isn't Jak wearing pants?" This is bad.

I've really got to look into Ratchet and Clank. Heard good things about it.
70  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Everybody probably knows this, but I didn't *feels dumb* on: 2006 January 09, 03:27:24
Pffsh. I haven't upgraded my computer once, since I got it around two years ago, and it still works fine. No need for upgrading every six months.
71  Awesomeware / The Scrapyard / Re: Anti-Gypsy Walkby on: 2006 January 09, 00:44:04
Well, NPCs often visit community lots. And on a community lot, the gypsy doesn't seem to bug you with "Greetings, dearie!", she just kinda hovers around like every other visitor and performs the important function of vending the date rape drugs you might need.

That reminds me. Someone should open a More Awesome Than You store, with t-shirts and hats and such, with JM quotes on them. Like "Date rape is bad, m'kay?" and "Necromancy is bad, m'kay?" and "GOATS, I tell you. The answer is GOATS." and "Life's a bitch, and then you're raped by wild boars!" and "May cause computer damage, incontinence, explosion of user's head, coma, death, and/or halitosis." and "Big Fiery Ball That Is Visible From Space" and "Congratulations to: Draklixa!"

Oh yes, and does the EVERYONE MUST LOVE ME! potion thing still cause random evaporations of sims? Or is it fixed?
72  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Vistor autonomously clean on: 2006 January 09, 00:35:19
Are you kidding? Male cheerleaders are HAWT! Have you Seen Bring It On? Lol!  Cheesy

You know what, now that I think of it, I'm gonna see if I can turn that Meadow Thayer cheerleader into a male. Tongue I wonder if there are Male Cheerleader NPC outfits. And if not... then Maybe I can make one or request one to be made. Hehe.

Ste
that's got to be a must have!!!!

Seconded. Then I could actually have a realistic George W. Bush college sim in my game. Grin
73  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Had an accident, now he's dead? on: 2006 January 09, 00:31:24
Just keep your eyes peeled for the squiggly line "cat scratch" talk bubbles. Getting nocorruptdeath should keep it from happening, but if you see that in the game you should go into the memories of both the sims in the conversation in question and delete any memory of a death that doesn't have a little grave stone next to it.

Once, I had a week or so where sims in this one neighborhood kept getting stuck in bathrooms while they were visitors. Two of them died that way. I suspect it had something to do with the cleaning routines of Bathroom Uses You! because if I remember correctly the toilets were dirty at the time. Could have been something else, but that was the only thing I could think of.

And then there was an incident when something was preventing the maid mobile from showing up, so I had this maid stuck on the lot, wandering around, peeing, and crying a lot. It was . . . interesting. Debug mode fixed it, once I got fed up with having some guy in a pink frilly shirt wandering around the house and sleeping in the living room.
74  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: All my plans Ruined! on: 2006 January 08, 23:49:19
Sim thought bubbles are essentially random noise, and you should not pay any attention to them whatsoever.

This is true of human thought bubbles as well. Er, at least, human thoughts.
75  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: New Open for Busioness Video 1/05/05 on: 2006 January 08, 23:45:58
Ninja! Wooh!

If it does turn out that "robot" or some variation thereof is the new species . . .

Robot Ninjas versus Alien Zombie Vampire Pirates!

Or, if they're combinable:

Vampire Robot Ninjas versus Alien Zombie Pirates!

Or even:

Robot Zombie Alien Vampire Ninjas versus Zombie Alien Vampire Robot Pirates!

I should stop now. But truly, the sheer awesomeness of Ninjas would most definitely warrant the purchase of this expansion pack.
