1  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Merging mods to increase Performance! on: 2010 November 05, 20:37:59
So, I had at least 186 Library Packages and decided to merge them. I'm noticing 10-20 FPS boost, a little quicker loading times, and faster selection in CAS.
2  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: New computer: Should I upgrate processor and RAM? on: 2010 November 02, 21:03:17
I'm wondering this too as I'm getting to the point where I need to upgraDe my computer for better gaming experience. My question is where do you go to get custom computer systems built cheap? I live in the south (came from the north) and, frankly, I don't know too many people around here who know what a PC is or does much less build one. Lastly, what would be a good and relatively inexpensive gaming laptop to obtain and where would I find it?

Also, I've seen the Pescado speak of a RAM Disk for improving performance and was wondering what one would recommend for getting one of those?
3  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Can Not Install Awesome Mod post Ambitions on: 2010 October 31, 03:48:35
You'll probably need to wait until Awesomemod is compatible with the patch... or until the patch is compatible with Awesomemod, whichever one comes first. You can always try the test version of Awesomemod if you know where to look, that's working for me.
4  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Is it compatible with NRaas Master Controller? on: 2010 October 31, 03:45:43
Yes, the two work together perfectly fine. Can't always trust those silly "tools".
5  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / <-- This can be removed on: 2010 October 30, 23:01:14
Personally, I find anyone who changes the subject line of their reply so that it appears as if it is a new thread in the subforum preview to be an asshole.
We could always remove the subject line all together if it upsets you too much. That way nobody can alter a subject line and save you the frustration of seeing it changed and confusing you. But that's just my personal opinion about it.
6  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Cavemen? Nah. on: 2010 October 30, 03:01:33
Personally, I have much less faith in cavemen then you do.
7  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Game Update for: 1.15/2.10/3.6/4.3 on: 2010 September 07, 18:11:13
I seriously thought this patch was an April Fools joke... but it's September now.
8  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Your neighborhood is corrupt and has exploded in a bfbvfs on: 2010 July 29, 04:07:33
Ever see the movie the Sixth Day, this kinda sounds like something in that movie happened... basically, you lost the game.
9  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: How can I get rid of a file I cannot find that, by all means, doesnt exist? on: 2010 June 17, 08:45:24
That's awful looking. I had to go through my combined packages files a while back because half the NPCs were showing up with either a naked top or bottom... some of them quite disturbingly. Your best bet, if you do restart, would be to combine files in a more organized fashion and then perhaps use the 50% method to find and eliminate this dreaded plague.

Also, once files are combined... can they be uncombined? Maybe do that and then use the ingame delete buttom (does that work?) to eliminate it.

I'm in the same boat as you here. I hate a bunch of shirts I got from one of the downloads. I look forward to a viable and non-nuclear solution Tongue
10  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Ambitions: What's borked on: 2010 June 17, 08:39:45
They aren't money sinks. You gradually accumulate a profit from them over time. It's doubtful any property purchase will ever pay itself off but I believe you can sell them at the purchasing price. In the end, you still gain any profits they accumulated (in the thousands). That being said, there are much better ways to spend money. I think you could use property as a sort of savings account if you wanted (with large investments).
11  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AWESOMEMOD 4.0.87 (AMB) TEST THREAD on: 2010 June 15, 00:55:41
Working fine for me (Ambitions). However, is anyone else noticing any slight delay when switching characters or going into buymode (that didn't exist before testing the new Awesomemod)? Maybe it's just my PC.
12  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: CAS problem.. on: 2010 June 10, 02:46:03
Fatness is -1 to 1, fitness is 0 to 1.
Is there a way to increase that range or is it hardcoded? It's fun seeing the extreme values.
13  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Collecting Issues on: 2010 June 01, 04:34:38
Never had this issue. I just collected some gems outside the Athletics Center. Check your other mods.
14  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Merging mods to increase Performance! on: 2010 May 31, 02:23:43
This works great. I had some trouble getting the hairs package to save and ended up having to make about six files for them (in smaller sizes). It took longer then usual and I kept getting errors and lacking memory. However, all the other files worked like a giffy, it just took some time. I do believe that it has sped up the game significantly.

Also, if the program freezes while your saving you can tell if its working or not by looking at your custom package and watching it's filesize increase. That restores confidence.

Anyways, this is a great fix and wasn't as difficult as I'd through. I wish I'd done it sooner!
15  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Realistic nighttime lighting indoors on: 2010 May 24, 20:26:48
What if there was a small almost invisible light we could put in each outer room to offset the night blue? So the indoor lighting isn't so pronounced.
16  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / marhis-LTRLasts10DaysNot2.package for WA? on: 2009 December 04, 21:32:29
Interesting, I'm using the marhis-LTRLasts10DaysNot2.package file and it appears to be working fine. I haven't really noticed any huge game slowdown but I turned down my graphics before installing WA to preempt such behavior anyways.

marhis-LTRLasts10DaysNot2.package is an essential mod to me, maybe it could be updated for WA if this is the case?
17  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Be Careful Discussing Awesomemod! on: 2009 December 03, 23:50:16
I cleared it up with them. It was the no-CD question itself and not Awesomemod that was the problem.

Quote
No, Awesomemod is too awesome to shun just because it also happens to be a no-cd crack. However, (per the site rules) no one is allowed to request a no-cd crack or recommend Awesomemod specifically for that purpose.

I just wasn't thinking and was jumping to conlcusions.

Anyways, its one of those guilty by association things (no-CD = pirate!) and strict rules. Of which, I violated by responding. Woops...
18  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Be Careful Discussing Awesomemod! on: 2009 December 03, 21:21:19
There are two checks, one with the Launcher and one with the core rules.

There does not seem to be a build-in CD check on the game executable so AM is hardly a "no-CD crack" since its not "cracking", it simply disables a flag on the core rules that goes looking for the disk.
This was my initial reaction, I just couldn't consider Awesomemod a crack, piracy, or an intellectual property violation. If that was the case then twallan's mods would be subject to the same thing because hes got a no-cd mod in his forums. As far as I'm concerned, those are the two major Sims 3 mods atm. All I did was give a link to a mod... this mod, which has been done many times before by others with apparently no consequence.

But back to my initial post, this site has some other things which, I assume, is why I got the warning. If that's not the case then I suppose I won't understand it.
I am a Mod at MTS. That post was in reply to a question on how to play the game without the disk. AM is discussed everywhere on our forums. We just do not like to call attention to the fact that it has a no CD crack.  If you search for awesome mod at our site, you will find thousands of hits.  We do not discourage it's use. In fact, we often refer folks to it for solving game problems.

Now, if I could just get the darned thing working in my WA game, I'd be golden.
From my perspective the problem is that this is the second time I was warned with regards to Awesomemod. The first time was something about "We don't support third party material" in reference to "How do I get to CAS ingame". It was just a warning but still, you sure you guys don't have Awesomemod on a DNP list?

Regardless, after reflection I probably should have even posted in the first place. I feel like I was baited and then punished for trying to help, lol.
19  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Be Careful Discussing Awesomemod! on: 2009 December 03, 11:27:14
Because this is the SECOND time I've been punished for posting things related to Awesomemod. People need to be made aware of the hatred towards Awesomemod!

MTS is becoming a pain, tbh...

Also, brings variety to all the "Awesomemod doesnt work" threads Tongue

Edit: Disregard, I went into this simply with the perspective of Awesomemod as a single entity rather then looking at the big picture. I'm sure, in their eyes, Awesomemod is guilty by association so I was wrong to bring it up.

Mods, you can lock or delete this thread if you'd like.
20  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Be Careful Discussing Awesomemod! on: 2009 December 03, 08:49:09
So, a few minutes ago on modthesims.com I recommended Awesomemod to someone who asked where to find something that would allow him to run the game without a DVD. I was awarded FIVE warning points for...
Quote
You have asked for help with stealing intellectual property, have provided information on it to others, or have admitted to having pirated/cracked/stolen intellectual property or software yourself. This includes asking for or providing links, files, or serial numbers which are illegal and/or warez software, including cracks for commercial programs.

They must be regarding Awesomemod as an illegal crack because of the no-cd hack. I wasn't aware that Awesomemod is illegal or warez and will continue to refuse to believe that. I admit, maybe it wasn't smart to respond to a no-cd question but still...

Anyways, this ISN'T the first time I've had problems with Mod The Sims regarding Awesomemod. A month or so ago someone asked how to get the CAS screen ingame after they created their sim. I suggested using Awesomemod or twallan's Super Computer and promptly received a warning. Since then I think I've gotten on mangaroo's shitlist or something.

Anyways, the moral of the story is that be careful what you say online...

Yep, works fine as is.
22  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: ZOMG!, New Body Sliders (Breast, Hip, Waist, Butt, Head and Shoulder Size) on: 2009 November 26, 02:12:19
Another historic slider day for TS3...
23  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Adding custom music to the Sims 3, unreasonably quiet! on: 2009 October 21, 04:43:30
My music works fine. Check the files, maybe they are corrupted or the volume is turned down in the file itself.

This has nothing to do with Awesomemod...
24  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: OMG the lag is unbearable!! on: 2009 October 18, 04:46:16
I don't have any slowdown with awesomemod when editing in mirror, dresser, or CAS. They just load right up! Do you have a bunch of custom skins, clothes, or hairs that are clogging everything up (that shouldn't slow down menus though).

My savegames do load slower but I think that's because more people move into the neighborhood.

Maybe another mod is incompatible?

Maybe you should post your computer specs because maybe the computer isn't tip top.
25  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: New rabbitholes on: 2009 October 07, 22:38:44
Thanks for the download, Gelina.

Anyone try the signs yet? Do they work well for creating custom career buildings?
