1  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Any more info about the Exception Raised error? on: 2012 December 18, 20:30:00

No, the point is the platform. Mac problems with the Sims has been an issue from the beginning not just since 1.42.

Do you write about this just for the pleasure to admire your own words ? I suppose.

I play ( sometimes ) with the Sims from ..... gosh, many years and rarely had problems with it. As far I know, the numbers of tards on both platforms are incredibly high. Not my point anyway. Exception Raised errors are Windows errors belonging to a bad ciderization by EA on Mac.

Do you feel better to say stupid things about Mac because you prefer another platform ? Or because EA doesn't do the job ?

2  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Any more info about the Exception Raised error? on: 2012 December 18, 20:04:38
Do you need to call me an apple fanboy to explain your point ? Interesting ... make me laugh. Good ! I laugh too when I see a PC fanboy doing some graphic design on PC. Or any tard who's still doing his texts on Microsoft Office ...

But yes, as I already wrote, a Mac is not a typical gaming platform. And you are right : EA doesn't care about mac players and never did. Nothing new.

The point here is not the platform but the numbers of errors and problems inside ONE patch. And the lack of solutions. For now.

Anyway, I don't really care since playing the Sims 3 is not the center of my universe.
3  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Any more info about the Exception Raised error? on: 2012 December 18, 19:16:26
It's not exactly unresolved, though. There are two possible problems: bad CC and/or Macs being inherently more likely to choke on the game. There are two possible solutions: take out the offending CC and/or don't play the game on a Mac. Just because you don't like the solutions or don't have the resources to enact them, doesn't mean the solutions don't exist.

Before you take that as some sort of prejudice against Mac-users, it's well-known that Macs simply don't handle the game as well. There are people who will moan all day because their graphics card or memory or whatever are not optimal for the game. No amount of bitching (and ignoring advice to upgrade the hardware) will make their machines more capable. It's the same concept.

Cancer sucks but it is no excuse to be a dumbass.

Beyond the prejudices of the PC tards around, the problems related to Exception Raised errors encountered by Mac users around and more since the 1.42 patch and Seasons are in fact a typical Windows error.

You are wrong about your 2 so-called possible errors ... CC is not to blame. Neither Mac. The real thing is the ciderization of the game by EA.

So, to play, you have 2 options : Install a Windows partition via Bootcamp and play the Sims 3 on it or wait the next super patcher and avoid the 1.42 one which is obviously too buggy on Mac. That's it, that's all. And remember : a Mac is not a typical gaming platform.

I won't enter a stupid war of platforms. This is only for tards who will always prefer to play with their settings than enjoying their computer and even life itself.
4  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Seasons Impressions? on: 2012 November 21, 17:49:38
I have a quad core and 16 gigs of ram so I am surprised at how hard it is hitting my system :/

The Seasons Festivals in the park are not interesting at all :/

I never crashed my computer as much since I installed Seasons :/

I love the fact to get seasons in the gameplay : noise of the rain is very realistic Smiley

The weather stone is fun but a bit limited in actions Smiley

5  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: CAS crash with 1.42 on: 2012 November 18, 19:12:51
Same here  Roll Eyes I had to uninstall/re-install at least 4 times before ending this bug and I still don't know what occurred this bug ( except a patch problem itself )

Of course, I patched upon an original TS3W.exe and TSLHost.dll ... and without any .packages and any NRaas mods I usually use.

Now, I have a new problem : the game crashes A LOT and always the same error : "Unhanded page fault on write access to 0xcdd281b0 (example) at address 0x00e09503 (example). Do you wish to debug it ?"

Still searching and trying some experiments  Undecided

If one of you stupid Mac fools would GIVE ME SHELL on a Mac, I would make you a damn Mac tool. But since NONE OF YOU CAN BE BOTHERED, y'all can suck it.

7  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Different problems I had with using both Mac and Windows for WA on: 2010 January 16, 09:53:52
I successed to install Custom Content on 3 different Mac with EA launcher on 1.8/2.3. I explained how there :

Maybe it will help you.
8  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: If you REALLY want to use Launcher to install Sims3Pack with 1.8/2.3 on: 2010 January 15, 09:35:54
blackgryffin: I ended up reinstalling the whole thing  Undecided I installed the sims3packs before patching, so it's sorta semi-working now. I'm going to try this 'new' fix as soon as RapidShare will let me download (and there's new stuff to install).

Maybe because some stuff won't install until you have not your Sims 3 base game updated to the last 2.3 ... I confess I'm a bit puzzled but The Sims has ALWAYS been a tricky game, including The Sims 2 and all its expansions.  Roll Eyes
3 computers here at home and 2 different Sims 3 installs : one which is only updates based on and the other one which is a full re-install ( until 1.8/2.3 ). The trick worked for both. And for both : I started to install first Riverview ...

One more detail related to Riverview ( and any other CAW new world ) : installed the same way than explained but I had to use the trick explained here and on MTS : put Riverview.world and AnyWorld.world in :

Contents/Resources/transgaming/c_drive/Program Files/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/GameData/Shared/NonPackaged/Worlds/

( with Sunset Valley.world ) to show up them in game ...

Also I noticed that repairing permissions and the whole disk with Disk Utility with the OS X disc improves performance greatly. Had to do this after reinstall, the game was unbearably slow and choppy. Now it works better than ever Shocked

I suggest disk & permissions repair with Disk Utility to everyone playing on a Mac, works like a charm. (shove your OSX install disk in, reboot, press option(alt) while booting and choose the disk and so on.) I did it once by accident, and was surprised how much it had to do with performance.
..meaning TS3 will effectively mess up your whole beloved Mac.

You are right to remember to all Mac users how permissions repair is important on Mac OS X. It's a basic use. After each install ( any install ! ) always repair permissions  ! Cool
9  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: If you REALLY want to use Launcher to install Sims3Pack with 1.8/2.3 on: 2010 January 14, 10:46:57
Gahh.

I'm on a mac so I can't use the binary exe directly, so currently I'm going with the dbc option.
However, the launcher really doesn't install anything anymore, which didn't happen before (even post-patch, I could install the new sets then, and they would show up with the dbc trick).
Do the new sims3pack sets have something different? It says it installs them, success and all, but the items disappear from 'installed content' after I quit the launcher. So basically, even the dbc thing doesn't work now, as the items don't even go to the dbc packages.

As AM doesn't remove the disc check for macs (WHY IS THIS), and the launcher can't be used separately on this thing, I feel I have no options for installing these.
Next I'm going to try with Roux's fix above, and then maybe with package files. I spent last night testing and cursing with custom dbc's, so they're out of the question.

Did you finally success with .dbc files or in any other way ? I tried again and again but no way to install successfully any .pack file since I installed WA and updated to 1.8/2.3 ( as many people around ) and put .package files in Mods/Packages slows down so much the game that it becomes impossible to play ... Damned. This game is less and less playable on Mac.

EDIT :

Hope it will help some Mac users who have installed World Adventure and updated to the last 1.8/2.3 via the laucher ...

Following the idea of downgrading since it's a fact that major CC install problems come from the last EA update patch ( 1.8/2.3 ), here the file I use and let me install every .pack file I wish to install ( Old Town Starter set, Gothique Full Set, Asian Fusion, Bayside Fullset, etc ... )

http://rapidshare.com/files/335163356/s3keepitsafe.zip

It's only a TS3EP01.exe replacement which can be found by right-clicking the "The Sims 3.app" and selecting "Show Package Contents" and then navigating as follows :

Contents/Resources/transgaming/c_drive/Program Files/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3 World Adventures/Game/Bin/

Keep safe anywhere ( on your desktop for example ) your patched TS3EP01.exe and put this one instead. Just the time needed to install all CC you want. Then, once all your CC installed via the launcher, as said here and there, copy your dcdb0.dbc file in :

Contents/Resources/transgaming/c_drive/Program Files/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3 World Adventures/Mods/DCCache/

Don't forget to update your Resource.cfg by adding :

PackedFile Mods/DCCache/*.dbc
PackedFile Mods/Packages/*.dbc
PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*.dbc

The TS3EP01.exe I posted is a cracked WA game. But I suppose you can do the same with any WA TS3EP01.exe as far it's not the one updated to 2.3 by EA ... Once all done, put back the one you usually play with, lauch the game, you'll find all CC you just installed.

Bad side : each time you want to add some custom content, you have to switch to an "older" TS3EP01.exe  Undecided But after all, this is the only working way I found to play with CC and it's quite easy and simple to do. And no need to have a virtual PC installed.

Hope it will help

I miss so much the SimsCutie Espresso ... Gosh, these Sims 3 take SO MUCH time eating and everything related to  !!!  Shocked
11  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: How fast is your TS3? on: 2009 August 16, 23:30:11
Give up on that Firefox. It's known to leak memory on the long run, so the longer you have it on, the more it hogs up your resources. Even more so if you have multiple tabs open. Also you could try upgrading your video card drivers. And play in full screen mode, you can always alt+tab to desktop.

I myself have a late 08 MBP, 2.8 GHz Intel/4GB RAM, running TS3 in OSX. It used to be faster, then it became slower, and then probably patch 1.3 fixed the graphics so now it's nearly as fast as it used to be. Of course I have some patterns that slow the game down, with bigger houses it's actually quite annoying. (DAMN YOU LANDGRAABS!)
No idea on the actual loading times, as I still have to watch trough the intro movies, no mods there yet. Also I'm currently experiencing a wave of loading crashes, and letting the intro movie play works for this  Undecided I don't feel it's too slow, but I fear TS2 speeds are coming, and that's just nasty. Tried to install TS3 on Win7, but for some reason the system froze during installation, TWICE, so no luck there.

Those of you still using xp or vista, I suggest switching over to win7, If your hardware supports it. It's significantly faster, uses the resources much better, and generally works. Also I believe it's still legally available as RC1, you'll get a serial from Microsoft if you already have the software. Though they don't let you download it anymore  Tongue

Same configuration than yours : late 08 MBP, 2.8 GHz Intel/4GB RAM, running TS3 in OSX

I found the Sims 3 faster since the last 1.3.24 update. I want first read everything related to the last 1.4 update before updating the game now. I'm not in the hurry since the 1.3.24 stabilzed the gameplay ...

Never tested on XP via Parallels : I prefer a lot playing on the Mac  Tongue Tongue

13  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: [MAC TOOLS] TS3 Framework Installer on: 2009 July 10, 17:37:39
Hey, thanks for building the Mac installer... it's a big help.

However, it's got one big problem... it doesn't sniff around for the app or allow me to specify where it is.  In order to keep my Applications folder under control, I group my apps in subfolders.  In this case, the game is actually installed in Applications/Games instead of just Applications.  Your installer created a folder named Applications/The Sims 3, put a busted "app" in there, and then installed the package contents normally under that.

It wasn't all that hard to open the real package in parallel with yours and copy the structure across.  It would be cool, though, if you could enhance it to autofind or at least permit manual picking of the root directory.

Thanks again!

I second this b'cause I use too some folders to group some apps ... But anyway, THANK YOU SO MUCH Marhis to support and create Mac tools Smiley
