TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Well, well, THIS is a surprise...

No surprise, I can already see references to two stuffpacks and the next expansion in the code core. And frankly, I don't see anything wrong with this. The People want their stuffpacks. Beats the overpriced Store Crap.
Any word on what this expansion is? Seriously, how stupid can they be to put stuff like that in the code, someones obviously gonna see it. Do they not know the community at all?

If you don't have 1.6 the game will install it for you(Or that's how it was in my case, and others with the CD version). But I wouldn't recommend installing the update for WA once you do install the game until the patch has been fixed. This is how I'm playing, and I've had no issues, while others with the WA patch are having numerous problems.

I had a good laugh at EA saying the person needs a GTX280, I mean that makes no sense, they didn't even update the graphics!
Unless the game has suddenly switched to graphics better then Crysis(Which will run on way lower-end cards then a GTX280-295) there's no possible way that can be true. Instead of firing their testers they probably should have gotten rid of their sucky customer service people, and hired some that aren't absolute dipshits. Somewhere in my mind I have my doubts even EA uses the GTX280 or even GTX260 with their Sims 3 computers. I mean back when all the previews for the base game were coming out they were still using the 8800's while the 9800's had been out for some time.

For the 'invalid file' error you will need to remove any .ini files you have modified. Apparently the second it senses that one little tiny file is off from exactly what it should be it will tell you it's invalid. I had this issue with my game twice and also helped out two others who were having the same issue.

Well unless you have the illegal version, or the EA downloader-thing one, Sims 3 doesn't have any DRM or SecuRom.
So apparently yes, you've lost your marbles.
If you have the illegal version, simply avoid the launcher. Actually, you should avoid the launcher anyway.

I don't hear much from the ghosts, or even see them really. Only when I go to the graveyard, even then sometimes they never "come alive". But when I talk to them I sadly don't even hear their whispers, sometimes I'll hear a laugh but never any consistent simlish.

I don't remember where I heard this but someone sent an email to EA asking why the i7's aren't on the supported list, EA then responded and told them it hadn't been tested. So it's not unsupported but rather not on the supported list. Also i7's usually fail the 'canyourunit test', which sucks anyway, but still. That was the only reason I could think of as to why this dudes computer was flipping out for no reason. Oh and what drivers are you using? I've heard of some of the newer drivers being crap at the nvidia forums.

I used it up until recently with no issues. But for some reason when I do turn on the launcher, my graphic card gets pretty hot immediately... I'd say not to worry about it. If you have the official version there's no securom, so don't worry about it.

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: How fast is your TS3?
|
on: 2009 August 16, 13:36:24

Your speeds are fine. Mine is only a bit faster then yours at startup. Never overclock, unless you have extra fans because it will cause the processor or card to become more unstable it most cases. So you have to be ready for wilder temps. My card was factory OC'd so I'm not sure of performance boosts but I'd say no don't do it unless you are liquid cooled or have a case with many fans. Whoever said that overclocking would be good needs to google because overclocking is usually something that many try not to do. Overclocking a card will only give a small gain but also give a pretty big chance of a faster death, of either being burnt out or the person clocking it to high and then, well burning it out XD. Leave overclocking to the maker's of the card, Sim fans aren't the kind of gamers who should even have to bother with overclocking, because if you can't play the game fine it's not going to get any better just because you overclocked a crappy card or processor.

I think square pixeled shadows only happen if you are stressing your computer or pushing it too hard. I got it on my old card whenever I turned on shadows, and now that I have my new card the shadows are smoother then the sims. But the whole bald head shows up on all my sims. *is not amused*. But you should try upping your other settings, I have everything maxed so it may just be a setting you need to put on high. Also you may want to try Advanced Rendering if you don't have it on, it makes shadows and trees way more worth it.
