1  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Missing Urns on: 2009 May 01, 01:14:30
I'm pretty sure I do. I'll double check and make sure that when I get home from work tonight.

Thanks Smiley

Okay, so they're unavailable for resurrection, so the files are probably shredded. Fuck.

I'm guessing there's nothing that can be done at this point. What I would like to know is what could have caused them to get shredded? I've been very careful about doing anything that might cause a problem, but obviously I missed something. What could have caused this?

(I'm going to keep playing now and just rebuild the hood when the current generation gets to college, if I can hold out until then.)

Hey, I don't hate being here. I just don't like hanging out in Retardo Land. You guys can play rough and I'm too much of a softie. Smiley

As far as I know, I've kept up with most of the updates on your stuff. I may not cruise the forum every day, but I check and make sure I've got the latest and greatest every week or so.

Wouldn't the character files show as red in SimPE if the files were shredded?  I know I've checked in SimPE and they look fine from what my limited knowledge tells me. Which is pretty limited.

If I can resurrect the sims, then there's no problem with them, right?
4  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Missing Urns on: 2009 April 30, 18:43:01
On one of my lots, there should be four urns for four ghosts. I recently noticed that the urns were missing. If I pull up a summoner, only one of the missing ghosts is available under the 'Default' tab. I can't seem to find the other three. I've checked in SimPE, and the missing ghosts character files seem to be fine, but I'm not sure if I've got a potential problem here.

Any help or advice would be appreciated. :}

I'm guessing AdBlock is another plugin?
6  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Firefox and MTS2 on: 2009 March 02, 05:22:46
Not sure if this is even remotely the right place to be posting something like this, but it's a technical problem that's driving me nuts and this place has always at least pointed me in the right direction.

I switched over to using Firefox a couple of months ago after having some nasty virus get into my computer. For the most part, I'm pretty happy with Firefox, but when I first switched over, I discovered that MTS2 would crash the browser. Now, I knew this had to be something on my end because if the site crashed everyone using Firefox, there'd be a big uproar. A friend suggested I download the 'NoScript' plugin for Firefox and that seemed to help. I had to set most of my sites to allow, but eventually I was surfing fine and had no issues.

Suddenly, in the last week, MTS2 started crashing my browser again. NoScript doesn't seem to be helping. If I remove MTS2 from the trusted list, it allows me to go to the site, but I can't view anything. If I try and turn on things to actually see images or whatever, it crashes the whole thing again.

Does anyone have any insight into what might be causing this and how to fix it?
7  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Lots Packaged With Sims Question on: 2009 February 20, 09:16:43
Okay, here's the situation. A few friends play sims on macs. Without SimPE, they can't extract their sims. In the past, I've helped them out by having them package the lot, either uploading it to the exchange or to file and then to a file sharing service. I then download the lot, place it in a temp hood, and extract the sims for them. Up until recently, this has worked wonderfully and never been a problem.

Recently, though, I've had people package up lots that look fine with clean installer (sims listed and everything), yet when I try and load it into a temp hood, the lot shows up as a normal lot, not a populated lot. I'm really not sure what the heck is going on with this. I'd never had a problem before, but I've had this happen with lots from two different people.

Anyone know what might be going on? Is this a mac issue, a windows issue, a tight pants issue? What? Any help would be appreciated.
8  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Post Uni Screw Up on: 2009 January 21, 08:22:39
Noooooooo. I didn't make that one. I identified with it, but I wasn't the one to make it.

I think it was the duplicate of the hood I did a rename on that did it. I ended up with a couple of shredded character files. Kablooey and rebuild.

I was afraid the fix might be a SimPE thingy, so I guess I'll live with it. Ah well. My dumb.
9  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Post Uni Screw Up on: 2009 January 21, 07:32:04
I had to rebuild my hood recently. Rather than creating in CAS all the dormies I had married in, I figured I would simply summon the dormies, up their relationships and move them in and marry them the old fashioned way. Unfortunately, I did not realize that having a sim who was not considered a Uni graduate do this meant the dormie dropped out of college rather than graduated. As a result, I've got a good four or five dormies running around as drop outs.

Is there any way to fix this and mark them as graduates? I can use the college adjuster to give them the wants and remove the extra fear slot, but it still bugs me that I screwed this up.
10  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Neutral Witches Broken on: 2009 January 01, 19:59:16
What's wrong with using the Ingelogical?

No purdy pictures.

Pretty much. It's amazingly useful trying to find a sim you don't know the name of. I've found it to be almost necessary rebuilding my hood. It lets me find dormies or downtownies with their new names. It also lets me find NPCs of a particular type without already knowing their name. I also like the way the menus are organized.

An update on the problem... I don't think it is the Visual Teleporter now. I wrote down the names of the affected witches and tried to summon them with both the InSim teleporter and the Inge teleporter (with the Visual Teleporter removed from my downloads) and the same thing is happening. There's something else going on there.
11  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Neutral Witches Broken on: 2008 December 31, 18:49:40
UGH. It has to be Paladin's teleporter. It was the ONLY thing in my downloads folder when I tried without any cc. Well, with just that cc. Crapola. It's the best teleporter out there.

Edit: Pulling the visual teleporter did NOT fix the problem. I still can't summon them via any sort of teleporter. I'm at a loss for what to do.
12  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Neutral Witches Broken on: 2008 December 31, 10:18:47
Using Paladin's visual teleporter, I noticed something odd with my neutral witches. Their thumbnails show a head and clothes, but no body. The good and evil witches are working just fine, but when I try and summon a neutral witch, I get an error (I think I attached the relevent log file).

Here's what I did to try and fix this:

1. Made sure all my hacks relating to witches were up to date. No luck.
2. Checked multiple neighborhoods to make sure the problem wasn't in one hood. Nope, it's in all of them.
3. Pulled my downloads folder so there were no cc or hacks. The only thing left in the game was the teleporter and the same thing was happening.
4. Checked to make sure I was patched. Yup, I'm patched.

I'm at a bit of a loss for this. I was hoping to use one of the neutral witches for something today or tomorrow, but now it looks as if I've got something buggered up. Any help or advice would be appreciated.
13  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Decostumized and Updated Cars, Exchange and Other Maxis Stuff on: 2008 December 13, 23:08:12
I may be a little confused. I went to download the cars, but that download only has two cars in it - the fiat and the ratrod. Is there something I'm missing or is the download messed up?
14  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Invisible Firejet on: 2008 December 13, 23:01:10
This is GREAT! I spent an inordinate amount of time photoshopping the flame jets out of pictures so this will save my life the next time I need to burn something down. Smiley
15  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Wants Controller Error? on: 2008 December 01, 08:21:44
Thank you Sara. Smiley

It looks like I had a slightly old version of ltwvariety. The version on the ftp site was a couple of days newer than the one I had. Hopefully that fixes the problem.
16  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Wants Controller Error? on: 2008 December 01, 07:11:34
I don't quite understand what that means.

Do I have a bad version of the LTWvariety mod? Or something else?

More importantly, is the neighborhood already toast? Or am I still safe?

Tight pants are probably affecting the blood to my brain because I need a Pescado to Dummy translation. :}
17  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Wants Controller Error? on: 2008 November 30, 20:02:51
Sorry. Smiley

This is the most recent log from one of these errors I've gotten.
18  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Wants Controller Error? on: 2008 November 30, 09:26:16
I've been working on reconstructing my neighborhood after discovering a corrupt character file.

In the new hood, I've gotten this error a few times and I want to know if it's anything to worry about:

As far as I'm aware, the hood is clean. I created it from scratch, fixed up the main hood, fixed up a couple subhoods (downtown and Sim State), and the like. I made sure to run all of the lots I added through the clean installer and even double check them in another hood first to make sure they were clean.

When I get the error, I hit reset and everything seems to move along just fine. Before I go too much farther, though, I want to just get some clarification on whether I'm already building a sinking ship of a neighborhood.

Edumacate me, please? Smiley

These are all awesome, Goggalor. I love the feature and it boggles my mind they didn't enable it for anything that goes on a wall in the first place.
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Missing / Broken Howl on: 2008 November 03, 22:28:43
So, in the current story I'm working on, I wanted a scene with some wolves howling. I know I'd used this interaction before and it had worked fine. This latest time I went to do it, though, and the wolf would go up to the sim and try and play razzle instead.

Thinking this might be a hack/mod conflict, I pulled my downloads folder and tried again. Made the wolf controllable, clicked on a sim, chose the 'howl' action, and the wolf went right up to them and tried to play razzle.

WTF. Somewhere between Seasons and Apartment Life, this interaction got broken. Unfortunately, I've never been able to find a pet animation hack that works for both cats and dogs, so as far as I can tell, I have no option to get these dogs/wolves to howl.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Sim Surgery and Genetics Question on: 2008 October 25, 07:41:56
Before I go and do anything to my real neighborhood, I wanted to run something by people who know more than I.

Is there any reason to NOT use Sim Surgery to fix a sim's genetics? (I'd be using the AL version of SimPE.)

Here's the scenario. I married a sim into a family that has one of the broken face templates (where only face one shows up for every age except adult). I thought this was fixed by a mod I got here in the Peasantry, but apparently this only works BEFORE the sim is created. So, now I'm on a mission to fix this sim and the two children she's already had. I've tested this out in a testing hood and everything seems to work properly, but I wanted to double check.

Here's the plan: In CAS, I make a new version of the sim I need fixed with all the same genetics, but now a corrected template. I'll also make two sims that properly mix the genetics of the sim and her spouse for the two kids. I then use Sim Surgery to fix all three of them.

In the testing hood, this seemed to work fine. It fixed the genetics for all life stages, and the genetics seemed to properly pass down to children.

Is there anything I'm missing in my ignorance?
22  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Cper and Csla Archetypes - Now with 100% more working than the competition! on: 2008 October 25, 05:31:25
Will extracting the facial structure file change the existing apperance of a sim, or just the genetics? I'm guessing just the genetics.

In a testing hood, I recreated the relevant sims directly from their extracted versions. The mom tested as still showing up with face one for every stage other than adult. Same with both kids. I then created a 'correct' version of the mom using the template. the corrected version ages fine. I then did simsurgery between the real version and the test version and then played with aging and she seems fixed. She also appropriately passed on her genetics to a kid I made her spawn.

I'm hoping this same method would work for 'fixing' the two kids they've already had. I played around in CAS and came up with two 'genetic mergers' that seemed to fit what I needed between the kids and should be able to simsurgery them too.

The question is, do I need to do anything else other than simsurgery to make it stick? (I know I would have to edit any recessive features they've got on the kids.)
23  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Cper and Csla Archetypes - Now with 100% more working than the competition! on: 2008 October 23, 07:05:50
I'm thinking I'm in agreement with the template fix having to be in place BEFORE the sim is created. Here's what I discovered going into bodyshop:

Going in and creating a new sim in bodyshop, I clicked on the face template as an adult. I then went through all the age stages and everything looked fine. Here's the screencaps of what I saw: http://mux.net/~ang/simpics/shelbtemp.jpg

Then, using an extracted version of the dormie I married into the family, I did the same thing. I cloned her up and then clicked through the age stages. Everything but adult and young adult was face one. Here's the screencaps: http://mux.net/~ang/simpics/shelbreal.jpg

I also extracted her daughter and got the exact same thing. I don't think she's completely generic face one, but her face drastically changes when she hits young adult and adult and then reverts back to almost face one as an elder.

Is there anything I can do to fix this? I suppose I could do sim surgery on the mom and fix her genetics that way, but would that fix the baby she's currently pregnant with? And that obviously doesn't fix the two children she's already had. I'm guesing the boy will run into the exact same problem. (Sim surgery would cost them any recessive genetics too, wouldn't it?)
24  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Cper and Csla Archetypes - Now with 100% more working than the competition! on: 2008 October 22, 08:07:30
This is some very serious necromancy, but I think I'm either confused or doing something very wrong with this template fix.

I married someone with one of the 'broken' face templates into one of my families (Sim State dormie with black hair in braid pigtails, black shirt red skirt). Aware that there might be some problems with her face template, I put this fix in my game. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be helping.

So far she's had two kids and both are expressing what looks like face one features. I aged up the elder child and she doesn't show her mother's features until she turns into a young adult. I'm guessing the same thing will be true about the second child. Since there's a third child on the way, I figured I'd frankenstein this thread back to life and see if anyone knew WTF.

Does this need to be in the game before the sim with the template is generated? Does it not help sims that are already created with the template? Is there anything I can do to fix this so the kids show their correct features earlier than young adult? At least so they show when they're teens? Help? :}
25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is Cloning a Neighbourhood a VBT? on: 2008 October 12, 05:17:37
Basically, I want to know what degree of VBT thing this is. No offense, J.M., but your declarations of VBT are always delivered at the same intensity, so I don't know if this means immediate corruption or if it -might- cause problems. I've had a couple of other things done in the neighborhood that were delcared VBT, but haven't caused any visible issues with over a year of playing in the same hood.
Just because you are a dumb, unobservant Orikes does not mean there are no problems. I bet I could pull open your files and immediately spot tons of gunk you've caused as a result.

Pescado, I picture you as the highly strict parent going over a room with a pair of white gloves to verify that everything is completely clean and spic and span. I'm guessing you could find gunk in pretty much anyone's game. Smiley

I very well may be a dumb, unobservent Orikes, but nothing I've done has yet affected my game play, which is what actually concerns me. I did remove the dummy cloned hood, though. I'll only use it in another account on my machine when I need it.
