Given that each sim has facial characteristics that are considered... um... dominant, I have to wonder. It's like me going in to edit a sim to make the elf ears more likely to pass down.
Still, I thought that given two sims having a baby, the resulting features would be a mix 'n match based on each feature, which probably results in pulling from template files. If that is true, then sure... you'd end up with fuglies.
After all, a sim created as an adult doesn't necessarily have any data for younger ages for facial geometry, so it has to pull the data from somewhere, such as the templates.
Isn't that why a replacement file that has ONLY the adult stage in it result in bizarre changes/reversions on elder stage?

The thing is, I plan to use an empty terrain for my sub-hoods. Will fugly townies/NPCs still be generated?
Doesn't matter. If you do NOT have the empty templates for the subhoods, the fugly Eaxis townies will get carried over. Use the empty templates. And any townie/NPC/whatever generated by the game will be fugly if you have not replaced the facial template files.

I think it's a question of proportion. And frankly, some of the clothing for the Sims makes them look pancake flat, while other stuff makes them look... *gasp* ...three dimensional.
It's like those body meshes that give females a teeeny-tiny waist. Ewww. They're people, not wasps. (No offense intended to wasps, or those who like to corset themselves into said figure.)

Yes, it's exactly like you said. You can create a new neighborhood and replace the Pleasantview one. Any townies and NPCs that are in the neighborhood will then be transfered to every custom neighborhood you create. I did that in my own game, because who wants to create townies over and over in every new neighborhood?
It's only been like...forever, but I did finally get around to testing this myself, and as you say, it works perfectly. I now have a set of Potterverse townies roaming the wilds (though, it seems in this new neighborhood, it's Hermione that likes to kick people to the curb rather than Voldybear, so far).

What ARE they? From reading I think they're blank templates of the existing neighborhoods - Pleasantview, Strangetown, and Veronaville, plus the pre-built sub-neighborhoods, so you can play the maxis-created stuff without having any premade townies or families. Is that right?
In that case, I think I'd rather have my own neighborhood anyway. If you have empty templates and create a new neighborhood, you simply won't get saddled with all the Maxis garbage in the way of townies, downtownies, dormies, and residents of places like Bluewater. The game will gen townies on its own (or you have to if you want them if you're using noregen mods). However, I get the feeling that (with empty templates) should you rename/remove your existing game folder and let the game regen them (Pleasantview, etc.) then you'll get an empty PV, but normal Veronaville/Strangetown insofar as Maxis playables goes. Once I've created my neighborhood, I use CAS to make a bunch of townies, move them into a lot, and use the teleporter shrub to make them all into townies and downtownies. Then I go to the university, do some create-a-student there, and when I make them "townies" they'll become dormies 'cause they're YA, right? YA bodies removed as townies become dormies, yes.

I haven't patched Seasons, and Celebration is requiring me to run the Seasons exe. On a related note, has anyone gotten the Celebration Stuff Bodyshop executable to run? It's not running for me. No error message or anything it just tries to run, shows up in the task manager for a split second if I try to run it, then closes out and disappears.
I don't think there's any real difference but I'm having to use the Seasons Bodyshop.
Same here. After a half dozen tries I deleted the shortcut I'd made and went back to the Seasons one. But then, not long after that I realized I needed to use the Seasons exe for the game, too.

Well, it sounds as if something is certainly borked if the season failed to tick over to the next. If i recall correctly, moving a property built in a Uni hood to a different one can result in aging off, but... I don't think they age in an owned business, either, or any community lot, really.

It's a damn shame. I keep having visions of a vengeful Great Pumpkin stalking around the lot causing 'Death by Pumpkin Implosion' or something equally silly. Now that'd be animation... er, NPCification, actually. Right, whatever.
ETA: Ew, just had a transmogrification thought, where the GP makes a sim's head into an actual pumpkin, then practices a form of cannibalistic murder by making pumpkin pie.

Yes, I know Necromancy is bad, but since VS is beyond resurrection...has anybody confirmed whether NoMidStreamStop works with Seasons?
I've had it in up until earlier today when I switched over to TJ's version of potty hacks, and it's never given me a problem in Seasons. Granted, I wasn't specifically checking to make sure they finished up, but nothing struck me as being out of the ordinary, such as a tired toddler spazzing out on me while piddling. The only thing odd that happened was finally seeing toddlers refusing to be potty trained, but bumping up their fun fixed that issue, and didn't seem to have anything to do with the mod. So, a qualified yes?

I shall virtually mash the Thanks button repeatedly in your honor.
Okay, fantabulous. I'll just make a note of that for when I wander back into the game.

I seem to recall (and maybe I'm just insane and having hallucinatory memory episodes) that there was a way to make the lot value display while building, so you could tell if you just went over the starter $20k funds, without having to exit to the neighborhood, check, then go back in and meddle.
I've searched (maybe not every nook and cranny of the net, but...) and I cannot find this. I've looked at cheat code lists, done searches at several sites, become distracted and gone on another downloading spree... Ahem.
Anyway, am I just remembering wrongly? Does a code or 'something' for this exist?

You really think those snobby private schools are going to give the money back just because your kid didn't go to school? They still have to pay the teachers, and the janitor, and pay for the upkeep on the buildings, you know. And the headmaster's port habit doesn't come cheap.
That would be why it was a question. Seriously, though, it did cross my mind that I doubt real life private schools refund for snow days, but Sims 2 isn't real life. Oh... hang on, I see. So that's where the snow day funds go... straight to support the lush of a headmaster? And is the staff having Wesson parties in the gym once everyone is properly tanked? A perfectly stated Ugly Butted statement. Saves me that much bother. I approve. Bah, humbug! Right, I suppose I can just yank the silly thing.

"A person who is allergic to consuming shellfish is also likely to have an allergy to eating cockroaches."One of the fine bits of knowledge brought to us by Fear Factor For the love of pixies... who the...? I always knew Fear Factor was a whacked show. What happened... some poor schmuck on the show had to eat some, and as a result they learned about this oh so obscure yet frighteningly clear connection between the two critters in terms of food allergies?

Did a search, everything is so old as to be necromancy, so...
Using this mod, a household gets charged at approx. 6am for 200. Kewl. However, one doesn't get a snow day notification until around 7am from what I've seen. My question would be, is it in any way likely that the mod could be altered to either change the time the household gets charged to avoid paying for a snow day (since the kids aren't going in anyway), or refund the tuition if a snow day pops up?
