1  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Razor1911 release vs. Reloaded release on: 2009 May 26, 02:12:38
Possible, I suppose, on both counts.  I'm on Verizon DSL, supposedly the highest speed one.  And both my firewall and router are configured correctly for BitTorrent.  However, I am getting complaints from the peanut gallery that "the intertubes is slower than crap, Ma!"  So, I guess I will cancel it out and just wait to see if this is worth fooling with.  Thanks for answering!

Torrent delivery time is 8hrs 17 min from start of download. Should be a bit less, because things go faster in the wee hours of teh morning...I usually notice that real download time is about 80% of first estimate. Rapidshare file is in 26 parts. Each part has a 3 min waiting period before download starts. Approximate download time is 13 minutes (plus 3 minute waiting = 16 minutes). 26 parts * 16 min/each = almost exactly 7hrs. 80% of current torrent estimate is 6.6hrs. Add to that the fact that Rapidshare likes to crap out and say you can't download for another hour, plus requires more finangling on my part, and torrent always wins for me.

ETA: and 5 seconds later, I'm getting estimated download of 3hrs 52 minutes.

How in the world is that possible?!?  I get an estimated time of 2 yrs 16 days!  LOL

MJ Chun confirmed that many of the characters in the ads will not be in the game.  Apparently she wasn't too happy about it either.

I see that the game is set up to do auto-saves during gameplay.  This worries me.  I sometimes get up and walk away from my game for an hour or two.  I almost always pause the game when I do that, but there have been times when I forgot to or was called away too suddenly to do so.  If that happens while playing Sims 3, a great deal of irreparable damage might take place while I'm not in control and the old stand-by option of "quit without saving" won't apply.

BTW, I've been trying to download this for two days now and I have less than a third of it downloaded.  I'm about to just give up.  BitTorrent slows my entire network down to a crawl while it's running.  The kids are starting to complain.  LOL

News is released about the first Sims 3 paysite (Sorry, Sims Store)

http://simmersnews.blogspot.com/2009/05/sims-3-store-set-prices.html

Some comments on there hint that perhaps the reason there is little content in the game people are seeing is because EAxis cut it back to enable them to sell it via the Store.  People are pissed.  Not exactly a surprise to cynics here but perhaps an indication that the copy of the game we're seeing is the final copy.

A new level of disgust for me.  This is flat outrageous.

I had a freaky baby/child combo that turned out like this:

It looks like it's part reptile!  Or maybe it's Ghandi's child?

Yeah, so was I!  I've got a couple of sims that I'd like to dunk in lye....  I've done just about everything else to them.

What the fuck.

[snipped because nobody wants to see that again]

You know you want it.

Just when you think you've seen it all.....

Anyway, I have another submission:Cum sprayed in face.

Oh, Lord, you have no idea how much I wish I hadn't been eating rice pudding when I saw that.  Yuck!
9  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: More Awful than You! June: Stuff that you Do. Not. Want. on: 2008 June 07, 04:09:21
This is supposed to be Ewan McGregor and is from TSR.  Not only does he look like he is constipated and needs to at least wash his face, if you will notice, it looks as if there is a hole in the middle of his forehead.  This has a very high creep factor for me and I Do.Not.Want.

10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Leftovers disappearing on: 2008 May 01, 03:51:03
I use 'moveawayfromfridge' (I think it is by Squinge) and it is fine in my game-I don't use the Dizzy Leftover Hack though. Perhaps you just can't use those hacks together.

Yes, that is definitely the case.  I tried running the game with each of those in and I could successfully get leftovers from the fridge.  When I put them both in together, the plate/platter disappeared from the sim's hand as soon as the fridge door closed.  So, I guess if I had to choose between them, I'll probably use the moveawayfromfridge because that drives me nuts when a couple is trying to feed twins.   Cheesy
11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Leftovers disappearing on: 2008 April 30, 21:37:13
Well, I took out the moveawayfromfridge and the havealeftover hacks and the problem is gone in at least one house.  I'm hoping it's gone for good.  I thought I had replaced all my hacks with FT updated ones, but I think that one of those must have gotten by me.  Thanks for all the help!
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Leftovers disappearing on: 2008 April 30, 19:56:34
I occasionally have the same problem and it was happening before FT.  What seems to happen is one sim gets leftovers from the fridge and a fastidiously neat sim cleans up the leftovers before the first sims gets to the table with their meal.
No, it happens when it's only one sim living alone, too.
13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Leftovers disappearing on: 2008 April 30, 17:21:55
Are they half-eaten plates of food or full? I've had that happen occasionally since BV at least, but it was mostly with pretty old leftovers that were only half-eaten. (Some hack I had in at the time had the Sims autonomously put away even half-eaten leftovers, so the fridges were full of that junk.) I liked it, whatever caused it, because it was a waste of time to make the Sims eat those two-bite plates, but I couldn't get rid of them any other way. I'd make them get each half-eaten plate, it would disappear, and then they'd get a serving platter and it was still good.

It's serving platters, too.  And single servings that were "served" but never eaten.
14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Leftovers disappearing on: 2008 April 30, 17:21:04
You don't happen to have Cathair's FinishCustomFood hack installed? That can cause food to disappear once removed from the fridge. I know you said you removed your hacks..but sometimes things have a way of avoiding detection. Just a shot in the dark.

No, I don't use custom foods and the only food/fridge related hacks I have are havealeftover, noeatcrap, and moveawayfromthefridge.
15  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Leftovers disappearing on: 2008 April 30, 17:19:39
I've also tried sticking the platter into inventory (which I used to do before Seasons let us have leftovers) and when I take it out, the only choices available are "Continue Cooking," "Call to Meal..." and "Clean Up."  Calling to meal has no affect.  Nothing happens and no one can grab a plate.

Your food was shot to hell. This happens every time the game resets, like installing a new EP or a new patch. Some hacks also reset the game. You can't resume cooking, despite what the pie menu says. You have to get rid of all affected dishes.

If you take it out, your food will be shot. If you have no food that you are worried about shooting, then you do not need it at this time. Food is frequently shot when you install a new expansion or patch, resulting in all food stored as shop inventory, live on counters, or in character inventory being shot. Remember, don't shoot food!

Get dontshootfood included in FT Director's Cut. I always keep this hack in my downloads folder to prevent ruined food.

I don't have that hack but will see if it helps.  This wasn't food that was in the fridge before I installed FT, though.  I created this entire neighborhood since then and this is new food just made by the sim.  Once it goes into the fridge or inventory, it's as good as gone.
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Leftovers disappearing on: 2008 April 30, 04:56:49
No, this is happening in a brand new neighborhood I've created since installing FT.  I don't have any custom foods and am using Maxis fridges.  The only food related hack I have is havealeftover (can't remember who created that right now) but that's not it because I tried it with that hack removed and it still did it.  I can put the leftovers into the fridge, and "Get Leftovers" is still a choice on the fridge menu, but when the sim removes the plate or platter, it disappears. Did Free Time do something to the food?
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Leftovers disappearing on: 2008 April 30, 04:10:22
I've got a problem with leftovers disappearing.  When a sim goes to the fridge to get a leftover, they remove it and it disappears from their hand as they shut the door.  I've only recently installed Free Time and took out all my hacks.  I've only put back hacks updated for FT.  I also did a few searches here to see if this topic had been discussed somewhere already and couldn't find anything.  Forgive me if I've missed it.  I have all EPs and none of the stuff packs.  I'm using Maxis fridges.  At first I thought I just had a borked lot, but it's happening on all the lots now.  Any ideas?
18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Features from other EPs carried over into Free-Time on: 2008 March 19, 18:09:25
This is so good to know!  It means that I could get rid of the pesky parts of old expansion packs and keep the very parts that I bought them for in the first place!  This is great.
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Lot Sync Timer: how do YOU use it? on: 2008 March 03, 15:52:09
So what I really wanted to say was, WOW. How do you limit the families to 1 child each?

I use ACR to decide when they'll get pregnant - I send them to autowoo with ACR every day (if they're on similar work schedules/not busy) until they fall pregnant.  Once they've reproduced, my sims don't get any more woohoo action, unless they happen to get some down at a community lot when they're out of my control.

LOL!  Your poor sims!

I use ACR and just let the little buggers go for it when they feel like it.  Family sims "try for baby" more often, but the rest of the babies in my 'hood are "oopsie!" babies.
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: My Secret Science Club is Don Lotharios House on: 2008 March 03, 15:34:43
I haven't got Free Time yet-and with all these bugs I don't think I'm going to exactly rush to install it....

I've been looking forward to getting it this week, but I'm sitting here reading through all these threads and getting more apprehensive by the minute...
21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: So anyone else not so happy about the new lifetime aspiration thing in FT? on: 2008 March 03, 14:57:16
Well, I love the secondary aspiration, though I also wish it played some part in chemistry which it doesn't seem to.

But the new lifetime aspiration bar is very very disappointing.  I like that they earn benefit points, and the rewards they can choose from aren't bad either, but it's just the way they earn them.  Like what does a romance or pleasure sim care about getting married, having babies, or graduating college?  I thought it would count up the wants that made sense to the sim, like 10 1st dates, or 10 loves, or whatever.  This does nothing to encourage a variety of gameplay, but does the opposite instead.  Now to get their stupid points, we have to take them all through this standardized life course - graduate, get married, have kids, max career, boring, boring, boring...

I really should have known it was too good to be true.  But who knows, maybe someone awesome could mod it to be the way it should be Wink

I haven't had a chance to test it out yet though, but I was hoping that fulfilling fears would subtract lifetime points.  I don't think it does.

Well, I am disappointed if that's the way it works, too.  I haven't bought FT yet (they were sold out locally when I went to get it this weekend) but I hope to before the week is out.  I've been really looking forward to the secondary aspiration and I still think I'll probably enjoy it, because I probably don't play the game the way EAxis intended it to be played anyway.  Very few of my sims have ever gone perma-plat and that's not likely to change now, but I don't understand the wants/fears not being tied to at least one of the aspirations.  What's the point of having an aspiration, then?  Seems silly to me.

And, I'm surprised that the secondary aspiration doesn't affect chemistry, since the main one does.
22  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: More Awful Than You! September: WTF? on: 2007 September 14, 03:03:35
Considering how difficult it is to work with animations for the sims, I'd say she did a decent job. Most custom animations look like crap, but I see that as just one of the limits of modding for the sims. I like it when creators attempt it at all.
That's true, but be honest.  Don't those children look more like they are squirming because they have to pee really bad?
23  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage dissatisfaction on: 2007 September 07, 20:25:21
Yes, there are thatched roofs.

Okay, that does it.  I'll be buying this one.
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Bon Voyage dissatisfaction on: 2007 September 07, 19:49:20
My biggest annoyance so far was when I tried to make some sims woohoo in their hotel room before they went to sleep. As soon as they were relaxing, one of them would turn on the TV. But with the TV on, they can't go to sleep afterwards. So I made them turn it off, for which they got out of bed (they can turn it on while relaxing just fine). By the time I had them relax again, the other sim would have turned on the TV... meh. I guess that always happened, but I don't normally put TVs in the bedroom.

OMG, that sounds like my husband on a real vacation!  The first thing he grabs in a hotel room is the TV remote!
25  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: More Awful Than You! September: WTF? on: 2007 September 06, 19:54:50
.

BTW that TSR billboard truly is the most pointless thing I've ever seen, who would ever pay for such a thing much less download it for free?

The same people who buy T-shirts with corporate logos on them?  I refuse to be a walking advertisement unless I'm paid.
