1  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Hydrobot & Cleanbot not working on: 2010 September 20, 04:57:57
Are you selecting the robot, or the stand that the robot is sitting on when you try to move it?  I don't think you can move them or use them independently of the stand, even though the robot itself seems to be a different object from the stand.

I was selecting the robot itself, not the stand. I didn't notice the stand was acting as a separate object. Selecting the stand appears to nullify the problem.

Thanks, rufio.
2  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Hydrobot & Cleanbot not working (solved) on: 2010 September 20, 01:48:41
I searched but found no topic dealing with this particular problem. This is the first time I've tried to start up a robot shop, and consequently also the first time I've actually made any real use of the robot crafting station. My Sim currently has a bronze talent badge in robotics, so she can make hydrobots & cleanbots. The problem I've found is that the only thing I can do with them is choose to sell them from the object menu when they're sitting on the crafting bench. I can only remove them from the crafting bench using the "move_objects" cheat, but if I set them anywhere else, there aren't any actions available. I did try setting them on some OFB shelving, but it wouldn't let me tag them for sale. I don't have any similar problems with the toy robotos. Any ideas?
3  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Phail: July 2009 on: 2009 August 06, 22:27:11
Is anyone going to build this in Base game? I'll do it tommorro morning if no-one has done it by then. Looks like a fun house to re-do, nice and ugly.  Wink

I'd gladly do it myself although I may not have time until the weekend.
4  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Phail: July 2009 on: 2009 August 05, 23:10:40
Just curious, what do you find unbalanced in the front facade?

The very front wall has a door with one window on either side on the first floor, but only one centrally placed window on the second floor.

simsrocks, glad you like my entry. I don't have the Family Fun SP. Do you have a photo of the house you're thinking of?
5  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Phail: July 2009 on: 2009 August 01, 00:56:17
Erry: I really like the clean, modern lines of your first entry; reminds me of many homes I've seen in the Los Angeles area. I wish you'd have let the tree be "free" though! Your second entry is a perfect suburban complement to the first.

ciane: Sometimes a light touch is just enough to work wonders. You've done a great job making it into a pleasant house, but that front façade seems a little unbalanced in the overall symmetrical scheme you have.

Sipu von Sapu: Impressive makeover. Looks like a small Mediterranean mansion. I really like the landscaping - something I never take too much time with.

Faizah: Cheers on the theme! I love it. And you've managed to make it look convincingly like a castle keep.

horsey: Very nice design. I like the traditional feel. However, why so much unused space on the second floor? (Is that maybe because of wall warping from the L-stairs to the attic?)

Minena: A gorgeous house. You've done a fantastic job designing around the original exterior walls - I think the roof really makes an enormous difference.

SalixTree: Your creative whimsy seemingly knows no bounds. Your house looks poised to take flight!
6  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Phail: July 2009 on: 2009 August 01, 00:21:45
All right, so here's my entry, on the last possible day! In thinking about the concept of "liberty," mostly in the context of American liberty, I designed a Federal Style residence for your freedom-loving Sims.

Bathrooms: 2 full, 2 half
Bonus Features: 2-storey classical porch, study, deck

I've adhered to AwesomeSpec, for the most part. No CC. I have all EPs. For SPs I have GL, H&M, TS, K&B, IKEA, M&G.

Rear Overview

First Floor: Foyer, Bathrooms, Living Room, Study, Dining Room, Kitchen

I'm going to make a separate comment with my thoughts on some of the other entries here.

Apparently nothing to do with AwesomeMod: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,15313.0.html

Still on Sims 2. Don't really have a choice anyway unless I buy a fancier computer. By the time I get one, perhaps Sims 3 will be up to par. Ha!
9  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Phail: July 2009 on: 2009 July 04, 22:16:40
Just because you made the lot with base game items, doesn't mean that it's base game compatible!
I hate it when people think it does!

Apparently you didn't notice, but I said that both files were created using Any Game Starter. That means I built the base-game lot in the base-game, without any other EPs or SPs. So it should be compatible. Roll Eyes
10  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / EAxis House of Phail: July 2009 on: 2009 July 04, 17:15:04
Since it's already July, and we've had 3 official votes for it (and one unofficial vote from a 12), I'm going to roll with it. This month's EAxis House of Phail challenge is ...

319 Bella Park Road (Belladonna Cove)

A lot smaller, thus more manageable, than last month's. Perhaps we'll have a few more entries this time?

Download: 319 Bella Park Road.rar (543 KB - requires Apartment Life)

For the sake of those few simmers who don't have AL, I've even gone to the trouble of making a rebuild of the lot using base-game only elements: 319 Bella Park Road (Base).rar (436 KB - base-game compatible)

Both of these files should be clean & were made using Any Game Starter. ETA: That means the AL file was created using AL only, and the base-game file using the base-game only. If you actually encounter any compatibility issues, please let me know.

Rules copy and pasted from last month:

1. No CC.  Please indicate stuff packs so people who wish to download your lot know what to expect.  Pictures are required, either available for download, on a slideshow, or posted in this thread.

2. By entering this challenge, you agree to take constructive criticism.  If you wish to judge someone else's entry, you should be respectful but honest.

3. Your lot does not have to be Awesomespec, although it is encouraged.

4. You may move internal walls and add external walls but you may NOT move original external walls.

5. Lots may be furnished, unfurnished, or partially furnished.  You can even upload both furnished and unfurnished versions.

Bonus rules:

1. Do not move the tree.

2. Since it's Independence Day here in the U.S., design a house that reflects some idea of independence or freedom - whether that be national, personal, etc. Or you could do the opposite. Tongue
11  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Phail: June 2009 on: 2009 July 03, 18:02:27
That's not fair, my computer can't run Freetime and there's no way to make it base game compatible, short of rebuilding it.
Don't alienate those who computer's are crap and can't run the latest EPs  Undecided

Feel free to nominate something else!
12  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Phail: June 2009 on: 2009 July 03, 16:19:03
I nominate these two for July:

196 Main Street (Desiderata Valley)

319 Bella Park Road (Belladonna Cove)
13  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Phail: June 2009 on: 2009 June 30, 02:19:46
allon's link to it worked. The other one did not with either ie or firefox. Gave same type error message with both.

I've noticed that tinyurl causes problems for some people. Not sure why, works just fine for me. Glad I was able to help.

Sorry, won't download.

Try this.

We're not all freaks, hell sometimes, me and the others in my commune BATHE!

... together?
16  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Phail: June 2009 on: 2009 June 28, 00:35:05
Jim, I like the overall idea. You're right that the art deco theme is a bit obscured, but it still turns out nicely.

I obviously fail to understand the way communal kitchens work in apartments.

I'm not sure that apartment lots are supposed to have communal kitchens. It's not something I've tried, anyway, because it seemed like it would produce the problems you've encountered.

I must wonder how one explains that to the insurance company.

As an auto insurance adjuster, I can tell you.

Adjuster: "So, how did this all happen?"

Policyholder: "Well, I was going to the theatre & was trying to pull up to the curb, but this guy was parked illegally so I couldn't avoid hitting him."

Adjuster: "I see. And did you apply your brakes before the collision?"

Policyholder: "No, I didn't have time to brake before I realized that he was parked illegally."

Adjuster: "And when did you notice that he was parked illegally?"

Policyholder: "When I hit him."

Adjuster: "I see. So, did the police respond to the scene?"

Policyholder: "Yeah, they wrote the guy a ticket for illegal parking."

Adjuster: "And did you receive a ticket for anything?"

Policyholder: "Yeah, that idiot cop gave me a ticket for 'unsafe movement'! I don't know what that has to do with anything, the other guy was parked illegally!"

Adjuster: *headdesk*
18  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Phail: June 2009 on: 2009 June 24, 00:18:37
Well, I'm hoping there are some more submissions coming! Looks like TS3 has killed this a bit.

Unlimited: Your version has this classy, almost New England feel to it, very nice.

Anria: Nice "party" house. With a few modifications, this would make a great fraternity/sorority house!

ciane: I like the big windows, no lack for light here. More of a modern take, but still with a traditional feel. I especially like the kitchen.

chobeegal: I like the look you've achieved using the mansard roof décor on multiple levels, although it seems like it'd be difficult to play since they don't drop back the way walls do. You have a very lush style of interior decorating & landscaping, which is fun to see.

ajcrawly: I'm not familiar with the Shinra Mansion, but your entry has a very luxurious feel with some clever making-do with the original external walls. The bedroom with the greenery behind the glass wall is my favorite.

witch: Would be nice to see a potion shop. Wink

I do have "scroll" functionality on my laptop touchpad, by running a finger along the right edge of the pad. I never actually use it, but I'm sure I could learn if I do end up getting TS3. Of course, I would probably have to replace my current computer anyway to run TS3.
20  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis House of Phail: June 2009 on: 2009 June 19, 02:16:16
Okay, a day later than I thought but here's my entry:

EDGEWATER BED & BREAKFAST
Lot Price: §199,157
Rooms & Rates: Couple Suite A (§859/night), Couple Suite B (§989/night), Friend Suite (§738/night), Family Suite (§1,058/night)
Amenities: Full service restuarant, billiards lounge, sauna, ice skating rink, fishing pond, and TV set & bookshelf in each suite

Obviously, since this is a working hotel, you'll need to place it in a vacation neighborhood for it to be fully operational. I had in mind a mountain vacation neighborhood when designing this.

No CC. I have all EPs. For SPs I have GL, H&M, TS, K&B, IKEA, M&G.

Looks like it does have flat edges. However, your upload contains a recolor & the phone line controller hack. I've cleaned it up with Clean Installer.

OK, is this challenge now dead due to the arrival of Sims3?

I hope not. I've been waiting for the June edition because I just couldn't think of anything useful to do with April & May's phailures.
24  TS2: Burnination / Planet K 20X6 / Re: EAxis house of Phail: March 09 on: 2009 March 21, 16:11:43
Nursery is a bit cramped and you left out the now all-important skilling table, which has a higher baserate than lesser toddler items.

Yes, I agree the nursery is cramped, although it wouldn't be difficult to expand along the back of the house or into the backyard. (As it is, I would've removed the wall on the right to add a little more space, but it was one of the original exterior walls.) And I didn't know about the skilling table; I only recently purchased FT & haven't had much ... free time ... to play any families, so I wasn't even aware of the item's utility.

So, this is my first post at MATY & my first attempt at renovating an "EAxis" house. Feel free to point & laugh. Cheesy
