Ah, but did you not see the thread that allegedly started the whole thing? A heated discussion about the population limits of TS3. Pescado even gets a mention in it. http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/312570.page

I learned my lesson looking at the dimwits in the first thread.  I don't need to touch every burner on the stove.

OK you are excused! I was really hoping someone with tech/game knowledge would take a look at it anyway, since I'm interested on info on this population cap crap.

Prof P I haven't had much time to play your world yet but so far so good.

The offending thread is right here.  Basically, he made an offhand joke about EA and someone else told him to stop "starting drama."  The BBSers were decidedly immature, but it was a great overreaction to soup from the community and take down his neighborhood.

ETA: Downloaded CI 3.0, Prof, and will check it out.

I don't know of any hacked showers, but Twallan has a mod called "The Shoeless Shooless" (see, it always makes me think of barefoot sims) that will keep sims from shooing each other out of the bathroom. http://ts3.tscexchange.com/index.php?topic=3901.0
32  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Fargo Updated on: 2010 August 05, 22:37:39
Hey, thanks Motoki, you just saved me some time! I've never used it on lots, I only used it on the sims that I downloaded and I could see all the CC that way; I didn't try deleting the content and installing them, though. I ended up deleting the sims because several of them included that dreaded, posessed doll.  Wink

Edited to add: I used custard to "unpack" the Fargo simspack and deleted all the items labeled "currupted", but they had no thumbnail so I have no idea what they were. Then I installed Fargo through the Launcher. According to the Dashboard I ran afterwards, I have no corrupted content in my game so I guess that got rid of it. The rest of the CC were mostly build items or patterns so I left them in; the strange thing is that I looked at many of the custom lots last evening and saw none of the new CC on them, at least not so far. Maybe I've just missed it, but you would think that if it were included in the download of the lot, that it would be present on the lot it came with.  Huh

All I did was add a few more lots and take a look around - I haven't started a game yet. But I wanted to tell you, Goddess, that I really like the new layout of Fargo, and appreciate all the work you did to add some houses. I know how much time that takes!

Does anyone know: if I wanted to upload a lot (or world, for that matter) that might have CC on it and wanted to get rid of it, and I click on the 'run without custom content' box before I packaged it up, would that eliminate all the CC from downloading with the simpack? If no one has tried this yet, I will perform some experiments.

33  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Where to find GOOD custom worlds? on: 2010 August 05, 22:33:29
The neighborhood having a similar look is something Simrealtor is actually very proud of, and at least you don't have to spend hours setting up the 'hood unless you really want to. The houses never bothered me, and some I actually like, but that's probably because I like variety and that includes houses, too. At any rate you're of course going to get different opinions about the worlds and their content.

There was a thread on the official BB a few months back. It was not the one that lists all the worlds, this one asked people for opinions. The worlds that I saw listed the most often by different people were the ones I tried out, because I figure if a lot of people have something good to say about them, then there must be something positive there. But of course to each their own!
34  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Fargo Updated on: 2010 August 05, 22:25:41
The Goddess, in case you don't read the forums, and I'm guessing you don't, they are very paranoid about CC on the official BB. So there aren't very many worlds there that do come with CC as most creators are very careful to please as many people as possible.  Cheesy

I usually don't care one way or another, most of the time. At least not until I downloaded some sims from the BB and all the sudden I had toddlers with long adult legs wearing boots in my neighborhood. It was very traumatic there for awhile, LOL. I do find it ironic that most of the worlds there have little CC in them but almost all of the sims I downloaded from there had a boatload of the stuff, and some of it was particularly nasty. Maybe that's why they're paranoid about the worlds! Personally I wouldn't play this game if it weren't for CC.

I was just about to install your world - didn't get to it last night, unfortunately. But when I had the issue with custom clothing borking my babies, I found an app by Delphy that helped to parse out all that CC. Now if I could only remember what it was... <goes off to look>
35  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Can't save sim from burning home. Anyone up for BBQ? on: 2010 August 04, 21:55:44
No, it wasn't your house.  The house of yours that I added to my world has a 2 by 4 tiled front porch and you have a back door, although that back porch is only 1 tile.  BTW the world is done, I'm just playing one more night with it to make sure I haven't missed any major issues that the new world editor can't fix.

Good! I made several versions of that house so I couldn't remember whether the one I posted here had a back door, lol. I am downloading the new version of Fargo as I type; looking forward to trying it out.

You've got me wondering now about all the mechanics of playing a fire fighter (I played one early on, but only up to level 2 in Twinbrook) so I'm really going to have to play another one - maybe I'll do that in Fargo. It would be a good way to check out the new layout.
36  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Can't save sim from burning home. Anyone up for BBQ? on: 2010 August 03, 23:14:57
Oh dear. Was that my starter house? If so I guess I'd better add a back door. Tongue

I haven't really played the fireman for any length of time. I find the new careers mostly tedious once the novety wears off and started a new game in another world. But if I have a chance to try the teleport thing I'll let you know what I experience.

Check the AwesomeMod / Requests thread, I think it was discussed over there a day or two ago.
38  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Where to find GOOD custom worlds? on: 2010 August 03, 22:55:56
I think I have downloaded and tried something like 19 worlds. I like variety.  Smiley

I also love SimRealtor's worlds although I haven't tried Cape Cavell; she does quality work and always includes houses and sometimes sims or a saved game. She will often also post additional lots to place in her worlds. Other favorites include Heartbreak Island by Rflong7, Fort Sim by ehaught58 (who has some of the most unique community lots I've ever seen and who has also posted additional lots to place in your game), and Red County by coasterboi, which has a cool city / CA coast vibe. I also thought Coconut Island was a lot of fun, and really like Fargo posted here by The Goddess; I understand she's going to have an AMB update soon which I'm looking forward to downloading.

Johnnywyr's world is called Saskan Harbour and when I played it last, I had a lot of routing issues and resulting freezes. I also tried Neverglade and I know it's very popular, and can't really put my finger on why, but my reaction was 'eh'. The only other world mentioned that I haven't tried is Liberty Bay, so I guess I'll try that one next.
39  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Fitting room guard on: 2010 July 25, 22:35:12
I've been meaning to try this in one of my games, too - create a self-sim and only ever play her and no one else. I never thought to start out as a toddler, though! I tend to get bored easily, however, and expect I'd better try this with aging on normal speed or I might not get very far. heh.

I think it might be easiest to try to get to know other potential mates while still in high school. If you could get the sims to be gf/bf, then they could marry when they both age up. Otherwise I would probably try hanging out at one of the rabbit holes in the afternoon and try to start conversations with the sims who come out and take it from there. But it sounds like you have found a way to keep your consignment clerk sim happy so that works, too.
40  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Toddler Problems on: 2010 July 21, 21:51:44
I've experienced both problems, and more than once. The toddler getting stuck while reading seems to always occur for the toddlers in my games. I haven't experienced the teach to talk bug recently (and just used that interaction yesterday, in fact) but reset sim always worked for me in the past when I did have it, so I can't imagine why that doesn't work now.

Wild speculation - are you using Twallan's SP or AM's SP? Most of the time I use AM but on occasion if I want to quickly populate a neighborhood I place Twallan's SP in there for a period of time - I'm just wondering if it could be that mod since I'm not using Twallan's ATM and didn't experience the talk bug. I suspect it's an EA thing, though.
41  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The Neverending Pause on: 2010 July 03, 01:56:45
I wanted to report that I started having serious lag issues shortly after my earlier reply - Murphy's Law, right?  Sad

I played without AwesomeMod for a few days and still had lag. My PC actually had a blue screen event last night, to top it off. Today I finally spent some time combining some CC package files since I hadn't done that since last winter, which served to identify and eliminate some bad CC files. At least I think that's what SP3 does when it crosses out some of those numerical files. Through examination with S3PE I also discovered that I had some files that modified the same skill even though it was not identified as a conflict using Delphy's Dashboard application. So I edited one of the package files to eliminate the duplication so I could keep the file I liked. I also discovered that in the last two days I stoopidly had added a file I KNOW conflicted with another file, which was probably a large part of my lag problem. Duh.

Anyway, the result is that this game is suddenly fun to play again. Loading a saved game only takes a few minutes instead of the 10 minutes it's been taking. So if you haven't combed through your mods lately to look for conflicts and/or merged them to create fewer package files, I can personally recommend it. It sure helped my game, anyway!
42  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Merging mods to increase Performance! on: 2010 June 30, 21:55:06
Somewhere in this long thread, I seem to remember someone saying that they merged their skins and they worked fine. I choose not to merge mine yet since I'm not sure I will keep them. It wouldn't hurt to keep backup files just in case it doesn't work, though.
43  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Ambitions: What's borked on: 2010 June 30, 21:46:03
They are routing boxes for stairs. Why they show up on some lots and not others is beyond me but that is what they are, as was said.

Just to be clear, I am referring to lots that have no stairs at all, no stairs located any where near them even. But this all makes sense when you consider that they can't be deleted when connected with stairs, either, you have to just delete the stairs and then undo the action. Wow, that is just beyond bizarre that they would appear on lots with no stairs. It's pretty difficult to do, but EA managed to surprise me with their ineptitude.
44  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Ambitions: What's borked on: 2010 June 30, 00:03:46
Nope, not talking about the stairs. These look like spawners but they have no markings on them like most other spawners, and they cannot be deleted.

ETA: I even checked to see if they could be nuked with AM, but it wasn't available. I'll look for one and try 'moveobjects on' to see what else I might be able to find out.
45  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Ambitions: What's borked on: 2010 June 29, 23:17:45
Spawners treated as world objects is an intentional feature of the game added many patches ago. People were bulldozing lots tht had spawners on them, causing the spawners to be irrevocably lost. The EAxian solution at the time was to make spawners sticky like so. This solution now creates side effects because spawners are no longer irreplaceable and have become quite common and visible.

Yes, such as the Beautiful Vista spawners. I remember that. I didn't recall seeing them multiplying to this extent before now, though, and it's something that I plan to watch since a kazillion spawners on a lot could potentially cause issues.

What is up with those plain white spawners that say, 'this object cannot be deleted'? What function, if any, do they serve?
46  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Ambitions: What's borked on: 2010 June 28, 21:24:00
There's an issue with Spawners that I don't think anyone has mentioned; if so I apologize in advance for being blind. In case it hasn't been mentioned or someone hasn't seen it, I took some screen shots to show everyone what we're dealing with here. The spawners can be manually deleted or you can bulldoze the lot twice but then you may have to place a new lot where the old one was located. AFAIK, this just started with the latest patch but maybe someone else can verify that. I first heard about this problem from amjoie at Custom Sims 3.

I copied the Bayless Junkyard from Twinbrook to the bin and placed in on a lot in either Sunset Valley or the custom world called Fort Sim (I don't remember which). Here is a screenshot showing the lot and all the spawners that come with it.

Here is Bayless Junkyard again, but I rotated the lot 3 times to get the entrance where I wanted it; notice how the spawners have multiplied.

Here is the supposedly empty lot after the junkyard was bulldozed.

Here is a shot of a new residential lot placed on same site, showing junkyard spawner in front center of pic:

And here is a shot from the basement level of the new lot:

Edited to correct grammatical error.
47  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The Neverending Pause on: 2010 June 25, 00:30:34
Same here with me, moondance.

But I have to say that so far I have not experienced a lot of pauses or freezes since installing AMB. I have probably only played Twinbrook maybe 6 sim weeks, though. I have started 3 different games in order to test out the new careers since I had difficulty changing households. Is it possible that the longer the game goes the more pauses you have? I don't know how long any of you who are having freezing issues have been playing your current game so I was just curious.

I also thought I'd mention that amjoie at Custom Sims 3 reported that while removing, replacing, and repositioning a lot that spawners were multiplying each time. Some of the spawners were actually buried below ground. They were left behind when the building was bulldozed, they were placed on the lot again when she replaced the lot, then more were generated again when she repositioned the lot. I just thought I'd mention this as a possibility because I would think that having so many spawners on a lot might also mess up a game pretty quickly.
48  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Pathing Issues in Twinbrook on: 2010 June 25, 00:20:18
Right, and I have not experienced this but amjoie at Custom Sims 3 reported that spawners are being left behind when you bulldoze or even just move a lot. You end up with dozens of spawners on one lot, which could certainly cause all kinds of problems. Twallan also experienced this. So some are saying that you need to bulldoze the lot again after you bulldoze the building.

They are also reporting that some of the spawners seem to be buried underground. Something else to watch out for, I guess!
49  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Pathing Issues in Twinbrook on: 2010 June 23, 00:20:42
I've heard about people complaining about the school, but not the other lots. I wouldn't call 30X40 or 40X30 weird sized lots, so I'm unsure what you mean by that.
Could there be spawners left behind? Have you tried bulldozing the lots, then trying to replace them? You've also checked how the lots are zoned?

50  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Why this dumbas sim behave like a dumbass ? on: 2010 June 20, 15:41:49
There's also a bug in the vanilla EA game, either with the update or AMB, I'm not sure which. If any of your sims play tag with another sim, those sims will forever after run EVERYWHERE. Just today I discovered that Twoftmama at Crazytown has a mod that disables autonomous tag; I'm hoping it prevents this until EA patches the game.
