Has anyone else had the Launcher, launch on its own? I go to the bathroom with all windows closed and desktop clear and come back and the Launcher is asking me if I want to patch to 1.4...which I can't. I thought it happened before but I figured I accidentally hit a shortcut. But I don't have any shortcuts to accidentally hit anymore.
77  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Objects I miss on: 2009 August 07, 15:27:06
Yeah. I just got really nostalgic for TS2.

Objects most missed by me would have to be, almost all of the Freetime interact-able objects. I didn't realize how often I put a Robot Making Station or Sewing Machine in my Sims homes. Even the Pottery Wheel; I hated that one most of all the Freetime objects because Sims had to stand up while using it.

And the car that can be worked on? I sooo miss that. Cars in general are missed; I hate the ghostly interaction with them now. I really enjoyed seeing my Sims get in their car and back out of the driveway.

Also, spiral stairs, again. Such space savers.

I also miss tall, narrow dressers.

LOCKABLE DOORS?! I do realize (and have) those locked doors on MTS but, it's only that one door in your buyable objects, not a global function.

I also miss baby's dirty diapers that drop on the floor. Or even the animation of a kid being thrown in the air, and having the dirty diaper to clean up. I hate that swirl animation around baby's when they're being changed.

I also miss the career unlockables of TS2 and aspiration objects.

Just seems like there's nothing to do for my Sims, anymore.

Arred game [RZR version]; already patched up to 1.3...with no problems. I downloaded some lamp recolors from the Exchange. First, I used Delphy's  Multi Pack Installer, created a folder and dropped all .package files into MODS/PACKAGES. Well, the game decided to ignore that: recolors would show up when clicking on an object BUT, they do not show up in the actual game as new recolor selections, only in the rotating preview.

So, I deleted the MODS/PACKAGES stuff and added the actual .sims3package files to the DOWNLOADS folder and opened the Launcher. Everything showed up okay, clicked INSTALL and got several messages saying I needed to install the premium item (mesh).

All the premium shit I have came from here and torrents; I did not use the Launcher to install them. How can I open the Launcher' eyes and show him that I do have the premium items? Or, is there a way to make the recolors show up if I add the .package files back to the MODS/PACKAGES folder?
80  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.3 Released on: 2009 July 29, 01:32:09
Is it just me or did they steal some of that from Pescado? And other modders?

I was thinking exactly that, which is why I came here to see if there was any early indication of possible incompatibilities. Awful long list of fixes; I actually dozed off while reading it (long day at the gym). Could it be that the game is as ~BUGGY~ as everyone was saying it was?

I did notice that my low end laptop will now be able to see roofs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
81  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: HystericalParoxysm releases new hairstyles at MTS! on: 2009 July 19, 21:00:34
I don't personally like them but I did thank HP on MTS.
Something about this accomplishment makes me really happy about the CC possibilities that are starting to open up. I thought we would all be stuck with Peggy's and SAU's overly styled Asian looking Anime Manga crap.
82  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Stupid Suicidal Sims on: 2009 July 13, 21:57:56
Yes, actually, I was quite pleasantly surprised by the fact that the entire game doesn't stop to load a single thing. It'd slow to a crawl if it did. It seems like they actually did get something right here.

Not really because it reaches the point where my sim is actually dying by the time it's loaded...

I have a similar set up as yours (old laptop with 1.5 GB's and a 1.66 processor) and the longest I've had a Sim wait to change clothes via getting in the shower, leaving for work...etc is about 2 Sim minutes. 14 Sim hours seems like there might be some other problem. But then again, I never have other programs running while I Sim; occasionally Firefox but that's it. Could it be old Cache's that haven't been cleared?
83  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Confirming number of saved Neighborhoods? on: 2009 June 09, 14:12:41
Hmm. I currently have 21. Haven't experienced any immediate problems, but that's really just a waiting game in of itself.
84  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Brokeback/Fresh Mountain -- Plenty of new YA Genes to pollinate! on: 2009 June 07, 12:19:59
Progression OFF doesn't work regardless of creation status, you may need Awesomeware.

Yes, I'll need Awesomeware no matter what. It's just weird that suddenly Story Progression was on in a newly installed neighborhood, but not in any other neighborhood I've been playing. Ever. My only evidence that it's off again is...when I had my Sims read the paper for Weekly Events, THE ONLY EVENT EVER DISPLAYED IS ABOUT SPORTS. No births or marriages. No new people to go and welcome to the town. Then after installing this hood, I had Rachel Bommshel read events and behold, at least 6 children birthed and something about an expensive wedding. I've since saved and exited the game since that awful baby boom, and went on an age-up-then-starve-to-death killing spree. I'm gonna test it out a but more to see if MOAR babies grow from
 the ground.
85  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Brokeback/Fresh Mountain -- Plenty of new YA Genes to pollinate! on: 2009 June 07, 01:22:54
Oooooooookay so just when I think I'm safe from the Story Progression thing, sucked back in.

I dl'd Fresh Mountain yesterday, installed last night, played one family for about 3 Sim days, quit the game, started the game, went to switch houses and there are are little baby bastards everywhere. I don't get how that happened because I've had Progression off since I installed the game (RAZOR with Crackfix) and have NEVER had a problem with new rando's in my "worlds" or "hoods" or whatever.

So I can only assume, if someone creates a world WITH PROGRESSION ON, then it's on forever no matter what the settings are?
86  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: OK, so why would I want this mess? on: 2009 May 30, 01:08:18
Feh. Creepy doll eyes? Why is no one else creeped out by the fact that their heads keep moving when you pause? Video evidence. The move at the very end might send you screaming from the room.

Thank God! I'm not the only one who has seen this. I screamed when I saw that, scared the crap out of the husband.

The first time I paused the game to queue up a bunch of conversation interactions, my Sim had the most annoyed look on her face, then I paused and she looked up at me while her head was still moving. I swear to Jeebus I wanted to turn the game off, it was so fucking creepy!

I still haven't made up my mind about this game. It's enticing enough to make me want to keep trying to like it but, I just can't help but try and understand why EA spent all this time developing this piece of shit game. It's as if they had a very specific Focus Group of players who knew/know nothing about the Sim community and just focused on creating some new gameplay for the people who have never played any previous version.

I think I'm mostly let down by the fact that I was expecting it to begin where TS2 left off. I knew they'd scale it back a bit to leave room for EP's but, to completely ignore Genetics is just lazy. Okay EA, if it's FORCED LEGACY play for TS3, then Genetics would have to be theeee most important aspect behind the game. Not...collecting stupid rocks and shit.

I was really looking forward to buying this game when it came out. I've arrrred all of TS2  and dr whatever idiot reason have immense guilt but, not anymore. I'm interested enough to keep trying to like but if the genius Modders are not able to make strides in a mesh tool or pretty extreme level hacks, then like many, I won't continue playing.
87  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: THE HORROR: The REAL TS3 Scoop As It Unfolds on: 2009 May 29, 16:35:31
Is it possible that TS3 EP's will only add functionality and new towns, but no hair/clothing meshes (non-NPC)/objects? If they're already starting with the nickel and diming method of selling objects, then I would hope they wouldn't burden people with having to worry about if an EP has furniture they've already paid for.
88  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Razor1911 release vs. Reloaded release on: 2009 May 28, 08:04:31
The crashing. Is that directly correlated to graphics card?

I'm playing on a "granny computer" laptop; I don't even have a graphics card ( well, it's integrated and such) and I haven't had a single crash. I CAN say that when I first started the game, all settings were lowest. I've put them all at about middle ground and everything is running smoothly.

The only reason I'm posting this is because I was planning on getting a new laptop in about a month, was curious about the best graphic card selection. But if I can run TS2 with all EP's and TS3, AND people who have way more superior setups than i do are experiencing crashes, should I even bother?
89  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: THE HORROR: The REAL TS3 Scoop As It Unfolds on: 2009 May 19, 01:27:35
Enforced Legacy Play? Bleh.

I'm all for playing my own challenge and intend on making a TS3 version of it, but I do hope the game doesn't make you play like that constantly.

Is there no "time freeze" option for families not being played to prevent aging, births, deaths and the like?

Seems like neighborhoods would full of death; killing Sims for doing things you don't want them to. If your Sims are 'posed to be poor as fuck but have a job they go to every day while you're not playing their particular house, now will me buying shit while you're not looking?

And for those of us few who have never played a challenge and know nothing of Legacy play, would essentially need, oh, I dunno, 50 - 100 different neighborhoods so that the one family that you're actually playing, won't have any cross play with any other families that have their own goings on? Does that make sense? Basically I'm a nutso micro-manager and I don't want anyone doing anything without my control.

Also, do you have the choice to not follow your Sim to work if you don't want? Boring work is boring.
90  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Keeping A Custom 'Hood Alive on: 2009 April 05, 01:03:11
I was never asking about deleting dead sims. Sims are okay dead. It's deleting played sims from the sim bin that's no good. And the un-seen web of CRAP that is connected to each sim.

And no, I did not have clean templates in when I originally created the hood...which is why I got Maxis sims in my sim bin in the first place. Those sims have been completely eradicated.

At this point, I have experienced no problems. Except one...my teen outcast V pops errors (in debug) every time she hops herself off the bus and reaches around her back to leave her homework somewhere on the lot. All the rest of the kids in the hood are fine. It's only her. Her grades still go up so I'm not too terribly concerned. I doubt it has to do with whether the entire hood is borked. More just her hitting so hard on the Headmaster...a perk?
91  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: TSR Privacy Violation on: 2009 March 30, 22:25:40
?!@#$%

I get really inspired by this community with so many good tutorials.
But when I see shit like this, it just makes me wanna stop playing the game; delete all my accounts.

I mean really, what is there to gain by going to the depths that this Thomas person has gone?
How many other people could he have compromised in this way?
92  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Keeping A Custom 'Hood Alive on: 2009 March 27, 22:37:38
Is there any way to do regular maintenance to a custom hood to keep it going?
I haven't seen any problems that removing hacks didn't fix, but after reading some things
around here, I wanna make sure I can prevent problems in the future.

All SP's and EP's installed. The hood in question has at least 1 sub-hood of each type,
EXCEPT no vacation hood. When it was created I knew nothing of clean templates. I've used
Deleted 2/Theo's Sim Deleter Tool to do some basic clean up of the pre-made Sim Bin families
that never saw the light of day. Never moved any occupied houses or Sims to the Sim Bin.

That didn't really remove much.

I guess the real question is, is it inevitable that any hood would stop working? Become FUBAR'd?
Too many characters? Right now I'm at 800+. I also have HP's Uber Mega Hood that came with 1,000+
characters so, I'm not too worried about the amount...or should I be?

I'm an anal retentive n00b and wanna do all I can to help myself out before bugging people with actual problems.
93  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Sedona OFB sub-hood - an default alternative to Bluewater on: 2009 March 05, 05:08:31
Actually, I did it myself, that is...Sedona as a base hood; followed SaraMK/HP's tutorial about the ID number. So, sorry for the dumb questions and thanks again for making it, Cwykes!!!
94  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Sedona OFB sub-hood - an default alternative to Bluewater on: 2009 March 04, 23:00:27
It started out as a base neighbourhood, so I have those files somewhere in my backups.  If you're using Strangetown, why not use that as the base hood?  Life would be much simpler that way!

I actually don't want to use Strangetown at all.
I figured if there was even a semi simple way to convert 'hoods,
I could use Sedona as a base. I already have Strangetown as part of my
install of the Uber-Mega Hood so, having yet another is boring.
I was willing to do it, if needed. Also, ST fits into the deserty feel of it.
But if it's not something I shouldn't fuck with then,
I won't be able to use Sedona at all.

EDIT - I couldn't edit my original post.

ALSO, if it started as a base, do you think you could be so kind as to send it to a n00b like me?
Sorry, I mean "Tasty Tourist".

95  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Sedona OFB sub-hood - an default alternative to Bluewater on: 2009 March 03, 18:58:59
Just downloaded. Very excited. Question:

Can I use this as a base 'hood? I'm not sure if there's some unique identifier that makes a Shopping District, a Shopping District and vice versa for a Downtown. I'm using HP's Uber-Mega Hood and have been thoroughly instructed NOT to add any additional Shopping Districts to it.

I'm planning on making your Sedona a base, with Strangetown as a Downtown and La Fiesta Tech as a Univeristy.

Am I asking for trouble to try and just rename folders?
