51  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Feed an omni plant are phail on: 2010 January 10, 19:00:50
Omni plants are at Science Centers in Riverview and Sunset Valley. You can feed them and view their diet.

Pardon my drunken haze. It's 2PM and I just woke up and didn't see the prior response. But here is a different question, can anyone actually feed these Omni plants since they're on community lots? I do know there is a Mod to do so but, have the recent patches borked that?
52  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: New Update Coming & The Sims 3 Create a World Tool (A.K.A Trouble Alert?) on: 2009 December 10, 18:04:17
EA seems really concerned that we are connected to the internet when we start are games. The first time I read their welcome page on the launcher while disconnected took me by surprise.I am not to crazy about in order to get this, you have to have that in order for this to work.I would love to have the world tool without the shopping hook up in the game.

Maybe they're trying to go the route of Steam, although I love Steam. Or maybe the Store isn't making as much easy cash they thought it'd be making and are trying more routes to remedy this.

In game Pop-up ads are soon to come, no? "Your child Sims are about to age up to teen? Why not buy him/him this lovely new hairstyle!"
53  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: New Update Coming & The Sims 3 Create a World Tool (A.K.A Trouble Alert?) on: 2009 December 10, 16:01:36
Read about this 2 seconds ago and immediately came here. I feel safe here. Sad, right? After the "quesy rage" subsided, I've made the decision to not play with my InterWebby active anymore, although EA's concern with us all being able to buy things will somehow override even playing with it off. Sirens and lockdown when I do connect to the Internet? Wreaking havoc on other games installed on my computer?

EA: expect the worst!
54  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: 90% of Sunset Valley lots gone after returning from vacation. on: 2009 November 24, 00:31:59

Sad EDIT:  I have to eat my words.  Been playing for 2 days with no problems, til I wrote the above statements. Opened my game today, all blue lots. Arrgghh!

I just got so angry, I just uninstalled the game. Six months of work, I am just gonna go without it. Okay, commence with the P&L.

I too have some shitty shit ass news: took out all of my CC that I painstakingly tested (2GB's of package files), after all that work, 17 different saves and 25 different game restarts, JUST BECAUSE I wanted to play for a bit without the little lag that I was experiencing from adding back my files. I only moved my fucking Mods folder to my desktop, cleared my caches and started my new reconstructed hood. Blue lots. I was so frustrated, I got up and just left the house without my purse. But now I see that I'm pissed over some computer software and snapped out of it, but yeah.

So apparently, randomly removal of CC can cause blue lots too. And no, the lot I was playing did not have package files CC on it. That particular lot was created without my Mods folder; all CC was in Sims3Pack form which I've never touched so, that isn't the reason.
55  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Car owner cannot be set since WA on: 2009 November 22, 15:52:53
In WA, you click on an ownable mode of transport and choose "Preffered Mode Of Transport" or something like that. One of my Sims bought a scooter on vacation and she only uses that now and her housemate now drives her old car. Although, the carpool came for her while she was at the library. She was so close to work that she just walked there so, that system is still not totally cleaned up.
56  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: 90% of Sunset Valley lots gone after returning from vacation. on: 2009 November 21, 20:57:43
So you got the problem again simply by placing the items in the game without actually using them, correct? If so, that means that they do not have to be on a lot to cause problems.  Hmmmm ....

I am going to stick the CC that I have in at the moment on a blank lot and see what happens. I have not added back lemoncandy items yet.

Yes, that is what I meant. I just added them to my Mods without actually accessing the files and still get blue lots.

Also, there's no 5 second rule with blue lots; once the file has been opened, it's infected and can't be salvaged. Back up your saves before any testing.

BUT, I have made some strides afterall. I downloaded a Resource.cfg file that had never been opened on my computer and made new Mods/Packages folder (in both the base game directory and WA directory, just in case?) and added a ton of items in, namely in the category of shoes, cars, hair, clothing and miscellaneous accessories that were downloaded from everywhere from Lillisims to TSR to MTS and am happy to report, NO BLUE LOTS. What did cause blue lots for me at the beginning of my CC trials was patterns. I don't know which ones but, just to make everyone aware...I think I might have had a Lemoncandy terrain paint in with the patterns so, that folder is quarantined for now.

I'm going to be adding back my objects folders soon and will report back (500 MB).
57  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: 90% of Sunset Valley lots gone after returning from vacation. on: 2009 November 21, 03:07:23
Well, I don't know what the hell I'm doing wrong. I didn't get very far before being infected again.

Added back a Resource.cfg and created a new Mods/Packages, within the new WA install path, added only Shoes and Patterns package files, opened a legit old save, got a fresh blue lot nightmare. Well actually a black lot nightmare because my graphics settings are turned down to low. I also downloaded some new Sims3Packs and installed those previously. They never caused a problem; my current Sim is wearing a new and slightly tacky dress from TSR and everything is fine.

Everyone else seems to be making some progress with CC; I'm stagnated. Sigh.
58  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: 90% of Sunset Valley lots gone after returning from vacation. on: 2009 November 21, 01:43:24
L&P? I'm so paranoid.

EDIT: Oh and I meant to add, yes. At some point during my testing, I figured if you happened upon Blue Lot Syndrome, then your neighborhood is FUBAR'd and you might as well give that particular hood, a trip to the trash can. But this post from TS3 forums is someone asking if the blue lot hood can be salvaged...I've already deleted all mine.

So, my next tests will be:

- Converting some know bad-blue-lot-causing CC package files to Sims3Packs and seeing if it affects the game.
- Finding a fresh Resource.cfg and a one-by-one folder re-insert to Mods/Packages.

I don't mix all my package files together. Each download gets its own folder so, this is going to be quite painful since my Mods folder has 395 files.
59  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: 90% of Sunset Valley lots gone after returning from vacation. on: 2009 November 20, 17:31:38
I hate to interject the current testing you guys are doing; I'm really interested but I thought I would share some recent tests of my own.

Firstly, I have WA and am patched up current (2.2.8.002002). Since there's no current AM, I won't be opening my current saves, except one that I don't care about. I'm using this save as my test. I also have a lot of Sims3Packs in my Downloads folder which I did not remove for any of the following tests.

Situation 1: Created new hood with all CC and Mods in (hacks removed ie. AM, NRAAS...etc). Long load. Horrible lag. Saved. Quit. Re-opened. BLUE LOTS.

At this point, hacks have been removed permanently. Since some have said the problem might be with saving, I tried this:

Situation 2: Created new hood with all CC and Mods in. Long load. Horrible lag. Saved As X001. Quit. Re-opened. BLUE LOTS.

Situation 3: Created new hood with all CC and Mods in. Long load. Horrible lag. Saved As X002. Quit. Re-opened. BLUE LOTS.

Situation 4: Created new hood with all CC and Mods in. Long load. Horrible lag. Saved As X003. Quit. Re-opened. BLUE LOTS.

Someone here mentioned that at the Crazy Town forum there was a solution so:

Situation 5: Tried the instructions from Twallan's forum about moving the Resource file and Mods folder to the current WA install. Opened a save. BLUE LOTS.

Situation 6: Removed MODS folder and Resource file. Opened old save. Made some changes. Saved as X001. Quit. Re-opened. NO BLUE LOTS. Sent my Sim on vacation for 3 days. Saved 3 separate saves while there just so I'd have a testing sample for later use. Came home. NO BLUE LOTS.

This is the last and current test (Mods and Resource file still out):

Situation 7: Created new hood. Short load. No lag. Saved. Quit. Re-opened. NO BLUE LOTS.

I'm sure there's tons more testing to be done and I probably missed something while trying to find the problem but, I've satisfied my curiosity in knowing FOR ME that it has something to do with Mods/Packages/Resource and I won't be futzing around with package files anymore until there's concrete evidence otherwise. At least I can enjoy WA for a little while.

Edited to fix my dangling participle and other bag grammar. Also, sent another Sim on vacation to China. Came home, no blue lots.
60  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: 90% of Sunset Valley lots gone after returning from vacation. -UPDATE on: 2009 November 19, 08:22:18
My Sims name is fine (Jason Ishmael) but everyone in his town' (new Riverview) name is wonky ie. this chicks name is showing as "World/Riverview/Sims: Rhoda World/Riverview/Sims: Bagley

That isn't WA related I believe. It happened to me before when some parts of Riverview in the WorldCaches folder was accidentally deleted. Try reinstalling Riverview.

You're right. I totally forgot I took all my EA Downloads out and moved the DCCache folder to my desktop. I've since fixed that. And somehow fixed the blue lots issue although, fuck if I know what I did; I've tried so many things. I think it might have to do with what someone in this thread did with their EA Downloads and re-installing with the Launcher and deleting all of the DCCBackup files.
61  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: 90% of Sunset Valley lots gone after returning from vacation. -UPDATE on: 2009 November 18, 19:36:14

One observation.  I just noticed that there  is now a 'favorites' category in the CAS patterns display box.   Was this always there?  Or is this a new feature of WA?

Yes, the Favorites category is brand new. I'd love to experiment with it but, I'm having other problems like, instead of lots being blue, my lots are black. I keep reading about this problem having to do with hardware but, I've never experienced this before, even when I didn't pay attention to system temps.

Also, I'm having this issue:

[photo removed because it wasn't needed]

My Sims name is fine (Jason Ishmael) but everyone in his town' (new Riverview) name is wonky ie. this chicks name is showing as "World/Riverview/Sims: Rhoda World/Riverview/Sims: Bagley

This nh was created after I installed WA.
62  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: 90% of Sunset Valley lots gone after returning from vacation. -UPDATE on: 2009 November 18, 08:53:42
Okay. Having this same issue EXCEPT, my Sim is in Riverview and has not gone on an adventure and whenever I start the game, his lot is black and he also cannot move.

Went into my other saves and the game loaded fine, but my Sims still cannot move.
63  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: 1.5/1.6 Patch warning! on: 2009 November 18, 02:05:08
I'm not sure what to do...

I got bored and antsy and installed WA (arred), but not before backing up Saves, Mods, Library...etc. Install went fine. Opened the new TS3EP01.exe and didn't hear any music which many have reported. Opened one of my saves, sent my 2 Sims to Champs Le Sims via computer. After choosing how many days the vacation would be and my Sim turning off the computer, a suitcase popped into her queue. I watched her walk to (I'm assuming) the curb in front of her house to get into a taxi or something, and before she got there my screen flashed black for a second and I immediately see a loading screen for Champs Le Sims. Once loaded, it has an opening movie animation/scrolling camera over this new neighborhood, and had music playing (Huh).

So I saved and quit. Went into my Saves folder and noticed new folders with the save name and the *.sims3 file is now gone. So I figure at this point everything is fine. Added Mods back and started the game and the opening loading screen never progressed. Killed the process in Task Manager, removed only my Awesomemod and NRAAS mods and tried again, this time it opened fine. Created a new neighborhood. Noticed my old Sims that I have just created last week but wasn't ready to use, were still in the Bin (without me having to change anything in the Library file). Went into CAS and created a new Sim; everything there went fine except I couldn't choose a favorite food and a voice. Noticed how the new WA item clothing and accessories have a special icon; not very many new items. Was able to save my Sim regardless. Placed my Sim in a house and also noticed how laggy the game was (every few seconds there'd be a pause). Saved again, giving this new neighborhood its own name. Quit.

When I open the Launcher, my version number is now 2.0.86.002002. Yet in still, I'm still being asked to update to 2.1.6.002002. Ignored this patch and quit the Launcher.

So I gather, this 1.6 patch isn't so much WA dependent but making space for a future installation and since I already have it, I'm not running into nearly as many problems as if I started out patching. But why in hell would I STILL need another damn update after my game version is above 1.6? I wanna find out what this latest patch is for but haven't found any info just yet.

So this long ass post was to say, installing WA seems fine. Patching stinks, for now.
64  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: 1.5/1.6 Patch warning! on: 2009 November 17, 19:36:20
Question: Sooo..........Patch then install W/A  or install W/A then patch?

I was going to ask the same thing but from what I'm gathering:

Don't.
Do.
Anything.

Just when I started enjoying TS3 again, all this madness starts to worry me a bit.

Also, as far as backup, what should I backup aside from Mods folder/Saves, I have Sims in my bin that I'm not ready to use; can I just backup my Library folder? Is that enough?
65  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Sim 3 Patch Notes Realeased 1.5/1.6 verison on: 2009 November 17, 10:24:05
Hm. They've already removed the list of updates from http://www.thesims3.com/game/patches/-734068402
And when I opened the Launcher to number was 1.6.6.
66  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Mods Not Working on a new install of Windows Vista 64-bit on: 2009 November 14, 05:27:49
I'm using Vista 64 bit with TS3 installed in C:/ProgramFiles (x86) and have never had a problem, but I also have the UAC turned off. I noticed a few mods stopped working when I recently installed it in this current setup, namely the No Music Notes mod, the No Blurry Stereo Animation mod and the No Build Mode Sparkles. I also had that Stop Fucking Coughing While You Eat mod that didn't appear to work anymore but, I just removed it with the others instead of testing it further.

The only mods that I have, that do work, is the No Intro mod and the Faster Skilling mod. All mods mentioned came from MTS.
67  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: no random sims moving into town on: 2009 November 14, 05:17:54
I did the rapture thing and didn't get any new sims until I built some really cheap  affordable houses, then too many moved in.  Tongue

I would be in the same situation but I was using this method of homeless scum clean up, which was a pain at first but starting becoming my only delight in a hood with only 1 inhabitant. After giving money/manually moving in the homeless, I had a decent amount of Sims in my town; but yea...I noticed that the EA story progression slowed down on creating new families.

No, really? The 1AM lag is caused by EA storymode working in the background taking up resources. With no other sims in town, there's nobody for storymode to act on, thus, no lag.

Yeah, I know it's EA working; I have the notifications (Awesomemod) on so I can see what's happening. I just wasn't sure if EA's story progression decided my hood had reached its cap, and/or if I should add more homes/beds slots.

I finally took some time to read up on the Crazy Town story progression mod and after backing up everything, added it to my Mods...wow, it has single-handedly changed my whole game play. I'm always TL;DR about most mods that have a lot in the description but, I took a few minutes to finally read about what it does. That mod actually does what EA promised as far as their bullshit "making the hood more lively and dynamic". Tonight was the first night since the game came out that, I sat here and played for 4 hours, instead of doing neighborhood clean up.

If anyone is still in doubt, you should try it out. Makes a huge difference for some Simmers who feel the game has gotten boring.
68  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: no random sims moving into town on: 2009 November 13, 12:11:40
I was wondering about this now that I've done a Rapture on my hood and my one Sims is completely alone. I've played him for about a Sim week, and cleaned up the homeless scum that the EA story progression is creating, and now I'm noticing the 1AM lag that I looked forward to, doesn't lag anymore.

Doesn't it also have to do with not enough homes/not enough bed slots and cribs?
69  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: How bad is the launcher? on: 2009 August 29, 22:01:50
I have an Arr'd game. I use the Launcher to install EA stuff. I've tried to use 3Viewer to install the dreadful Sims3packs from TSR but, it doesn't work sometimes; just hangs. Especially gives me problems with clothing that was created with that TSR Workshop. I've also tried to use Delphy Multi Pack Installer extracter thing, but that crashes (and yes I do have The Framework and .NET whatever). And plus, sometimes those subsequent package files don't show up in game. I've found myself beguiled by The Exchange and being able to download simple recolors that I'm too lazy to do myself, and I use the Launcher to install those as well. I used to turn my Wireless connection off whenever opening the Launcher but now, I just leave it on. Never ever had a problem, THUS FAR.
70  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Flagrant System Error on: 2009 August 12, 01:07:46
I just got my second Flagrant System Error just now. Nothing in my Sims inventory and she lives alone. I just started the game, had my Sim paint on the easel, and bam:

After I received it, I saved and quit without error.

The night before last, I got one as well, while saving. Not sure how serious to take these errors; I was able to save. This is just FYI purposes.
71  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Weird Crash --- can't find any sort of solution. on: 2009 August 10, 06:44:07
Or you cound not use the crapsure and get the installer replacement tool, and run the direct exe (for the game and updates) <_<

I used a standalone patcher to begin with. I use the 3Viewer and Delphy's Multi Pack Installer on a regular basis. Not everything works with those tools. Sometimes you have to suck it and use the, Crapsure...did you say?
72  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Anyone know of a Mod to off your sims? on: 2009 August 10, 06:41:00
I just drag their Hunger meter down. They INSTANTLY die. I wish there was a Mod for death but WITHOUT the Grim Reaper showing. If I kill off an entire household he takes forever to collectsouls and what not.

I find starvation ghosts to be annoying, because they raid your household's fridge. I don't know about you, but I have my sims precook meals, so that they can eat a high-quality meal before work or school, thus eliminating the need to cook food when time is short. I don't need hungry ghosts eating up all the leftovers before my living sims can get to them. I do, however, love the Ctrl+Shift+Click deaths. Because a creepy Victorian mansion just isn't the same without ghosts...

I don't keep Ghosts around at all. The Dead are dead in my book. Either deleted grave or transported to Graveyard which I never have my Sims go to. At least not yet.
73  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Weird Crash --- can't find any sort of solution. on: 2009 August 10, 05:06:52
...and once again I am stung by the fucking Launcher. I opened it earlier while I was replacing and moving files and things and the version did say 1.4.6.00002 (the patch was successful because I saw the successful plumbob screen). BUT, I ran into some other problem, something to do with Riverview not showing up in the drop down, and some where in switching files or something, I don't know.

I haven't opened the Launcher since then but I just opened it (8/9/09 @ 12:45AM) and SOME HOW SOME WHERE the version reverted to the first game version, the very first version. I got a pop asking if I wanted to patch and I said YES. Then another message popped saying something like, "I see you have some files with the version 1.4.6.00002 already. So you do not need this patch because it is already installed. BUT would you, perhaps, like to install it anyway?" I said YES. And now it's done. Game is back working, along with my beloved AwesomeMod.

Conclusion: the Launcher is like a retarded dog you just wanna kick, but is so cute you can't help but love it.
74  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Weird Crash --- can't find any sort of solution. on: 2009 August 10, 04:22:35
Some stuff to try:

Check the version in the launcher and/or on the ts3.exe. Make sure the patch really did take. In the launcher the version in the lower left corner should be listed as 1.3.24.00001, 1.3.24.00002, 1.4.6.00001 , or 1.4.6.00002. The TS3.exe version should read 0.2.0.18.

Take all other mods and custom content besides awesomemod out and see if it still happens.

Keep trying. How many times is every time? The standard crash on loading screen has been known to happen 5 or 6 times in a row for me, but if you're loading 20+ times and still no dice then definitely something is wrong.

Make sure you have the very latest version of awesomemod (updates that provide fixes but aren't a full new version are frequently posted without being announced)

Make sure your framework installed correctly when you reinstalled the game. Be sure you have d3dx9_31.dll in C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin, a resource.cfg in C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3. A mods\packages\hacks bla bla folder directoryC:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3. awesomemod.package in either C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\mods\packages or C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\mods\packages\hacks

Check here for more troubleshooting tips.

Hm.
I'm in a really fun and amazing situation. Today I:

Uninstalled from PC (RZR version).
Re-installed on PC (RZR version).
Patched to 1.4 (using a single patcher) <---------GUH??!!!?
Re-installed Delphy's Monkey Thing.
Played the tutorial.
Switched around houses all while being warned I'd lose things.
Saved and Quit.
Added AwesomeMod from TODAY 8/9/2009 @ 11pm...

And finally, my game crashes when attempting to select a neighborhood.
I have nothing else in my game (no Mods and no CC because I haven't been able to get that far).

Also, looking into the Versions of the EXE's, I found another problem: I am patched to 1.4.6.00002 but, my EXE version is still 0.0.0.11195. Can someone send me their EXE version 0.2.0.18? Maybe that will kick something in the nuts. The Launcher is the correct current version. I just tried installing patches, but of course I get a message stating patches are already installed.

At this point, I just want to try getting a EXE version 0.2.0.18 and see if that remedies things. If not, then I'll start that sick cycle again.
