TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Wry mod no werk?

It's so weird that it will work in one game configuration and not another. I've now played through to a second set of bills and it still isn't working. My Sim *did* get a Chamber of Commerce coupon, which is odd since there are no Community Lots in this neighborhood yet. I hate it when I can't figure something out! I have quite a few of Cyjon's mods and they've always worked perfectly.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Wry mod no werk?--Solved, I think

Disclaimer: This is not an awesome mod.
Okay, here's the deal. I downloaded Cijon's BiggerBills mod. I put it in the game. It no werk. I did the usual; took out all other mods. No go. Took out all CC. No go. Tried a different house and a different neighborhood. Nada. Then I put it in a clean installation that I use for testing. It work. Working backwards, I added in CC in batches and my other mods. It still worked. So, my question is: Does anyone have any clue as to why a mod would behave this way? I've scanned folders for covert hacks and such and manually looked through every folder.
I know the usual procedure is to ask the maker of the mod, but Cyjon's mods are posted pretty much without support on his site (though I have sent an email; I haven't gotten a response yet). I am completely flummoxed by this one.

The 'frequency' with which Audrey sets off 'special' words with 'apostrophes' or 'single quotes' is an especially tedious affectation, given her 'claims' to be a linguistic/grammatical 'purist'.
Yes, this is the source of my 'aggression'. It is 'irritating' to read a post that is 'littered' with 'misplaced' single quotes and 'errant' apostrophes. I don't think Audrey will be getting her shiny Grammar Police badge anytime soon.

Just remember, you can talk bad about Americans, as long as you make sense. Bitching about how American English is different than British English is what got you in trouble. Of COURSE they're different. DIFFERENT LANGUAGES, sweetheart. Did you notice how no one jumped down your throat for the "lazy and fat Americans" comments?
Or the "my darker-hued compatriots" butchering the language comment. I almost went for a smackdown on that one, but I was busy with other matters. How many posts do you have to make to stop being a 'Noob'?
Pescado, I didn't know you had visited our sunny shores. I hope your 'experience' wasn't too bad. Our local thugs are pretty hardcore and you don't always escape with your life.
There's only a violent regime change, every OTHER month.
Sounds like there is a lot more wildlife roaming the streets, elsewhere, than there is in our game parks!!
'Stop posting'. Now, that would not be fun.
Has anyone seen an 'offering' from Canadian TV called 'This is Wonderland'? It is about a new lawyer who gets thrown into the thick of the Canadian lower courts system. It is so off-the-wall and portrays the court system in such a 'wacky' way compared to what I am accustomed to seeing in shows like 'Boston Legal', that it is difficult to believe that what goes on in those courts and cells is really true. You would have to have seen it to know what I'm talking about.
That shit has got to stop. Now.

But mumblers are my bane. The range of my hearing, high and low, is great, but I have slight middle ear deafness ("crowd deafness") that turns mumbles to mush, especially if there is background noise. Films that play background music or noises at nearly the same freq. as the people speaking...ooh, I hate that.
Hey, I have that, too. I didn't know it had an actual name. I think mine comes from listening to too much overly loud music as a teen. We didn't have all these fancy warnings like you whippersnappers do.

Do we know you? Do we like you? Did you not get the memo from Pescado, viz: These instructions are sort of irrelevant to you at this point: No one knows you well enough to want your pudding yet. Due to the fact that if we just had random people no one knows constantly posting random sims here, it would become impossible to find those of people we actually want, random people cannot post one here until they are better known.

I'm curious; Do you all act like this in real life or is there some transformation when you log onto MATY?
I second this. I recently wrote a research paper on "Internet Socializing" and "Online Communities" and NOT to my surprise the findings indicated that over 30% of the users in these communities seem to develop a second persona, which is usually close to the opposite or the exact opposite of their true personality of the outside world. We're actually much meaner in real life. We try to curb our behavior here, give people the benefit of the doubt, yadda, yadda. Always remember, we don't know you; we probably don't like you. Our responses to your drivel will likely reflect these feelings. If you can show yourselves to be made of stern stuff, can take some sporking and come back with a pithy retort, you might be accepted here. Otherwise, GTFO. Thanks. Oh, and, generally speaking to all that is MATY noobdom, stop with the "Pes" already. He REALLY doesn't know you and he likes you even less than the rest of us do. He's not your BFF, FFS.

You need to find the 'Iconic Hobbyist>"hobby">"Sim!Name"' option on the gun.
I must be missing something here. I made a Sim for the Music and Dance hobby. She is in the Sim bin. When I try to make Iconic Hobbyists, only one name comes up for Music and Dance (in fact, only one name comes up for all of the hobbies except cuisine). HALP!

Beach lots are tricksy. They can generally only be placed in the exact location, on the exact terrain on which they were built. I suspect this was your problem. I don't know of any way to fix that. I'm not sure why you thought the price would change simply by moving the lot. Am I missing something?
My suggestion is to copy the floor plan of the house you want to move and build it in your beach hood.

I completely removed the Sims 2 folder so the game would generate a new one. I then started a completely *vanilla* game with a new family in Strangetown and used the Motherlode cheat to redecorate their fugly house. As I was adding furniture, carpet, etc., the screen would either flicker or the walls woud go down! I've never, ever had that happen before -- not even when my previous game was crashing!
I was building an apartment in a completely clean hood and had that same thing happen. In my main, playing configuration, it does not. I don't know if it has to do with the video settings that ship with the game not playing well with the video card, or what. My card is an ATI Radeon HD 4800, and is also new.

TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Signs are not funny/Apartment controller error & other questions
|
on: 2009 April 23, 01:27:33

1. I have Signs are not funny, yet Sims are still obsessed with cheap artwork, even when there are adequate fun objects on the lot. What's up with that?
2. Is there any way to nuke the obsessive greeting on Community lots?
3. I am getting this error message on one of my apartment lots. What it means??
4. ETA: A Townie offered to give the Therapist my Sim's number. That can't be good.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Magic Wand question
|
on: 2009 April 20, 22:52:18
|
Feel free to P&L. I have never used the magic wand because it seems too cheaty for regular use. However, I would like to use it for apartments. The RTFM is a little skimpy on information. How, exactly do I use it? Do I install it on a lot when building? Do I have to move a Sim in to use it?

Thanks for the suggestions and help. I'll see if I can get it sorted out. Fortunately, it seems to be just these couple of items that are affected, so it's more an annoyance than a real problem. You may wish to specifically check your ati catalyst control center to see if adaptive anti-aliasing is enabled. I had a problem just like this, and disabling it made stuff solid again. I didn't have to change the regular anti-aliasing settings.
This fixed it. Thanks again!
