1  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.7/2.2 on: 2009 November 19, 18:20:22
The EA Download Manager is a very unnecessary piece of garbage that has issues.  You do not need it, it causes wonkiness, throw it out with the rest of the trash.

Fair enough.  How should I go about downloading the updates when the direct links to the patches I need are unknown?
2  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.7/2.2 on: 2009 November 19, 17:37:25

Woah, sounds more like "issue acquired". EADM? Blugh.

Could you elaborate?
3  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: TS3 code_version.txt invalided file on: 2009 November 19, 17:25:10
Have you tried installing with the Game Launcher/EADM?  I had the same issue but I resolved it by installing EADM and updating the game via the Game Launcher.
4  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.7/2.2 on: 2009 November 19, 17:12:40
If I understand correctly, version 2.0.86.002002 means you have patch 1.6.6 and WA, so use the first link "Sims3_1.7.9.002002_from_1.6.6.002002.exe".

I tried apply the patch and it failed.  It gave me an invalid file error message which I found to be code_version.txt.  The text file has written inside it:

description=Version: 0.RL-2.0.56  Changelist: 706761

It seems another poster has the same issue as I do:  http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,17256.0.html
Can anyone provide assistance?

EDIT:  Issue resolved.  I updated game via Game Launcher and installed EADM.  With World Adventure installed, the game uses a different version number than just having the base game alone so using the direct links I posted before will not work if you have World Adventure installed.
5  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.7/2.2 on: 2009 November 19, 13:47:51
Okay, so my version on the game launcher says 2.0.86.002002 which does not compute as I thought the versions out were 1.5/1.6 and 1.7.  In order to install patches, I need to download EADM, which is unnecessary and pointless I have heard although it is not malicious.  There are a few links to download the patches directly without having to go through EADM and I'd like to do that only I don't know which of the links to download from as my game version does not match with any of those direct links.

For instance, here is a link to the latest 1.7 patch:
http://akamai.cdn.ea.com/eadownloads/u/f/sims/sims3/patches/Sims3_1.7.9.002002_from_1.6.6.002002.exe

And here's the one before this patch 1.5/1.6:
http://akamai.cdn.ea.com/eadownloads/u/f/sims/sims3/patches/Sims3_1.6.6.002002_from_1.4.6.00002.exe

Looking at the SKUversion.txt file in my game directory under World Adventures says:
GameVersion = 2.0.86.002002

The same file under the Sims 3 base game directory says:
GameVersion = 1.5.82.002002

During installation of World Adventures my game performed an update which appears to have brought it to 1.5.82 from 1.4.6 (or the most recent patch before WA was released).  Is there any harm in installing the 1.5/1.6 first and then the 1.7 patch from those direct links?  If there is, what is the proper order to installing the patches?
6  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.7/2.2 on: 2009 November 19, 12:30:48
Where do you check what version of the game you have?  I installed the game from what I believe was 1.4.6 but the game performed an update right before installing World Adventures and I no longer know what version I have.

I was under the impression that using the Game Launcher was a bad thing.  Is that still the case?
7  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomemod and Expansion Pack not compatible on: 2009 November 18, 13:23:03
Uh, yeah. You remember when I mentioned "Once you go AwesomeMod, you can't go back?". That's one of the potential gotchas.

Would starting a new neighborhood fix the problems caused specifically from removing AM from the base game or is a fresh reinstall of the game required?
8  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Lifetime Rewards Glitch Solution? on: 2009 November 12, 13:43:30
Try using SuperComputer mod and use the Clean Traits feature on it.  I edited the traits through CAS and got that same NULL KEY on my Sim.  You'll lose all your traits and rewards on that particular Sim but you can re-add them using AwesomeMod.
9  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Error codes 12 and 13 along with crashing. on: 2009 November 03, 02:08:22
In my experience, It will really depend on what other mods are present in your game and what you do with it is what will determine if it'll become worse or not.

Could you elaborate a little more on this?  Do we know what mods cause the error 12 to appear more often than others just by merely having them installed?  Is there something about doing certain things on a particular mod that will cause the E12 to appear with greater frequency?  Do we know what those certain things are?

I was under the impression that the problem was still a mystery and there was no known solution or cause as the problem appears to be spread across all sorts of users: from those who play with mods to those who play without them, pirated and legit copies of the game, and those with custom content versus those without.
10  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: New AwesomeMod Request Thread on: 2009 November 02, 04:43:54
A Fertilize All button MUST be implemented to the game where all you have to do is select an item in your inventory and that item will be used to Fertilize all your plants.  As it is now, you have to manually select each individual plant to check if it needs fertilizing as it isn't always clear on some plants that cover the dirt around it.

I imagine something like this would have been requested long ago and would have been in the game by now but it doesn't hurt to ask.  Can this be done, Pes?
11  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Error codes 12 and 13 along with crashing. on: 2009 November 02, 04:38:23
I just got an error 12 message for the first time after months of playing the game.  It happened after I finished editing a character in CAS using the Super Computer mod.  I noticed a few things that may or may not be helpful in trying to find a solution to this.  One was a "Null Key" in the Lifetime traits rewards that I fixed using the Clean Traits feature of Super Computer.  The other was the GUI of Buy/Sell Catalog was colored black.  The game crashed to the desktop after I tried to go to Edit Town without saving.

I've browsed some of the posts on this thread so I'll be trying some of the voodoo solutions here but what can I expect from this neighborhood or any future neighborhoods that I start up now that I've been inflicted with this?  Is the problem going to get worse from here on out?  Is it recommended to start a new save file?  How are people coping with this?

Is it possible to have Awesome Story Driver ON for one of your neighborhoods and OFF for another?

Is there a way to keep the wishes/wants from disappearing after some time has passed if you don't L-click them because of lack of space in your wish boxes?
14  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 June 27, 17:39:20
I am having the same problems as others trying to install the patch. I'm getting the region error.

The problem is twofold for me - firstly, I did not install any RLD > RZR patch, I installed the Razor version directly.
Secondly, there is no registry entry for SKU anywhere. I am running on Vista x64. There is no 'Sims' directory, other than in HKCU/Software/Electronic Arts, and even then there is no mention of SKU.

Please help!

Edit: I should add that the launcher states my version is 1.0.631.0002

The "problems" you mentioned are not really related to the problem you are experiencing with the regional error.
A bit obvious but are you downloading the appropriate version?  Are you downloading from the direct links?

I think I'm gonna get a new TS3 (released version) for this issue as my  reloaded > razor version just isn't co-operating with any of my three patches and various files have been added/modded.

Has anyone got a good TS3 arr link as TPB and mininova are showing very poor amount of seeds, and I don't fancy the Taiwan version, theres enough complications already  Tongue

Thanks

Look through this post to see if any of it helps with the problems you're facing with RLD > RZR version.

16  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomod discussion/questions/helpful tips thread on: 2009 June 27, 01:17:41
Works fine on Razor, though.

I had used the update to Razor patch a while back, and my skuversion.txt right now said my game is 1.0.631.00002
but the patch .exe setup complains I have the wrong version patch and won't install, even though I grabbed the matching one from Awesomemod main thread so it should be the right version. (00002)

Is there a known reason that might happen? Is it upset it can't have access to the launcher.exe (Because I disabled it) or does it determine version only from the skuversion.txt

If you're talking about the RLD to RZR update then you will need to do some registry editting to get it to work properly.  Locate the SKU file in your registry by either searching (CTRL+F) "SKU" or manually locating the Sims 3 folder.  In Vista64bit edition, it's found in this directory:  HLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Sims\The Sims 3

If you use CTRL+F make sure it's the Sims 3 folder and not some other folder  Look at the directory to verify.

Next right-click on SKU and change the value from 7 to 2.  That should fix it.  Enjoy!

Let me know if you can get the patch installed this way and have no problems with the installation process of the patch.  I'm curious to know if you experience the same problem I did from this thread:

I'm getting an invalid file found while trying to update.  Can someone provide the contents from this folder and upload them for me please?

Game\Bin\HelpPages\CZE_CZ\

It's specifically crashing on: Game\Bin\HelpPages\CZE_CZ\Help_Updates.html but I figure I'd copy the entire contents of the folder.  I have the RLD version updated to RZR but without the 632 patch.

I can find the files on the game disc but it does nothing to copy them over to game directory so I'm guessing it's a problem from RLD version
Your file worked great and there was indeed a discrepancy with the Help_Updates.html file.  It seems however there is a problem with the other Help_Updates.html files from that same folder.  Now it's whining about the DAN_DK Help_Updates.html file.  I must again request if you could upload the entire contents from the HelpPages (~500KB)?

Thanks for any help.
YES!  That did the trick Bass Junkie.  It installed with no problems after I replaced my HelpPages with the ones you provided.  It'll surely come in handy for people who have the RLD to RZR version of the game.

Many thanks!

Note that if you got the 632 patch, you have to reinstall now.
I knew I was right to avoid that patch, don't fancy another 24 hours of downloading  Tongue

Reversing the 632 patch should be easy enough.

This is ALL the 632 patch did:

Default.ini - added "InstallationRequired = 0"
GraphicsRules.sgr - in the very last line with the #, changed "E?-Kad}" to "0bfffcc9753aabac325f".
skuversion.txt - changed "1.0.631.00002" to "1.0.632.00002".

Can anyone confirm if thiis works?  I've tried reverting the changes but it did not work.

Well that's strange.  I wonder what caused my Sim's cell phone to stop working right after I used the command.
22  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Blank Inventory Slot & Gem Stacking on: 2009 June 18, 13:02:14
Warning!! Using purgeinventory removes the ability to use their cell phone.
23  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Broken Radio, anyone? on: 2009 June 15, 20:26:51
Yep, the radio's suck somehow massive.

The radio upgrade "wire house" is more a downgrade, imo.  My sims used to be able to sleep in their bedrooms with the living room radio playing.  I'd think I would prefer putting a desktop radio in every room, keeps it realistic, offers more variety, isn't unfairly expensive.

I had a graphical bug yesterday which ceased after restarting game.  The right speakers sound wave was twice as large as the normal left.  (or 4 times as large, depending on your dimentional perspective.)  Just wierd that an effect (particularly one that isn't a 'unique instance') would blow up.

I think I have a broken mp3.  One custom song always stop at the same point about 75% complete.  I'll start investigating now.  Edit: Yeah, there's a skip when I play it in another player.  Too bad the game just drops it though.  At least it tries, I guess.

My Sims have the Heavy Sleeper trait so they get the benefit of having the radio on while they sleep.  Very handy!
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Greek House - Move In/Out pledges on: 2009 March 05, 22:23:58
I never thought about using them as placeholders for a future Sim.  Thanks for that bit of advice.
25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Greek House - Move In/Out pledges on: 2009 March 05, 09:49:15
My Sim started a Greek House and I have some questions about moved in pledges. Will the "moved in" Sims become unplayable after my Sim graduates from University?  If not, what steps must I perform to make them unplayable again.  That is to say, how do I revert them back to YA uni townies that roam the campus like they were before I moved them in?  Finally, will I lose my Greek House charter if my Sim graduates and the playable "move in" Sims become unplayable?

Thanks for any responses.
