26  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Deleting, Creating, and Generating Townies OFB and pre-OFB on: 2006 August 19, 00:15:59
OK, this may be a dumb question, but I have recently created a new 'hood, cleaned out all the characters, deleted all of the SWAF, relations, memories, and sim descriptions.  This was awhile ago.  I finally got around to creating new townies for the 'hood, and using inge's shrub to make them downtownies.  I just decided to open up SimPE and have a look at them, and in the sim description window I have two unkonwns.  I am positive that they were not there before.  Is it safe to delete these?  Where did they come from?  I do not want to start over, but I am determined to do what it takes to have a "clean" neighborhood before I start playing.  (Once I accomplish this, I will make a backup to a disk to use as a template, so I do not have to do this again!

That may happen if you moved a family from Pleasantview to your new hood. Otherwise, I don't mess with text lists (other than reading them from time to time) though Jordi may know something about this.

Thank you for your reply.  This is a brand new 'hood, just created and no sims have ever lived there or moved to there, so I'm not quite sure what is going on.  There are no files in the characters folder, I'm getting ready to make my own towines using the ingelogical shrub thing.  I'm just gonna leave them (the text lists) alone for now, unless someone tells me differently.
28  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Deleting, Creating, and Generating Townies OFB and pre-OFB on: 2006 August 09, 03:05:12
What about the text lists?  I have 55 of them in simpe, and many of them just say default, I have one that is talking about Pleasantview (not the current neighborhood) and a few of them that seem to reference houses that are not in the 'hood.  Should I delete them?
29  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: When building, why do windows disappear (but not really)? on: 2006 June 30, 06:14:56
I get this sometimes also, and as someone else stated, all I have to do is lower the walls and then raise them again.  It takes care of the problem everytime.
30  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Fulfiling Multiple LTWs/'Impossible' LTWs on: 2006 June 30, 06:10:10
But all of that slapping and arguing that happens when the cheatee gets furious can bring a relationship down pretty quick, can't it?  I haven't played a romance sim without a career LTW in a while, so I don't really remember.
31  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Fulfiling Multiple LTWs/'Impossible' LTWs on: 2006 June 28, 18:50:05
20 Lovers is EASY. I just do it assembly-line style. Instead of allowing the sim to get one lover at a time, what I do is make the sim best friends (100/100) with all 20 sims. Then, one night, I just invite all of them over. Kiss, Say goodbye... Kiss, Say goodbye... Kiss, Say goodbye... Kiss, Say goodbye... etc. I can usually do all 20 in one night. If you do this at night, the chance of a walk-by is really small, especially since each sim gets only one romantic interraction, which means there's only a tiny window of opportunity for a jealous lover to witness it.

I make my sim best friends with 20 others as well first.  This seems to be the easiest way to do it.  I don't believe you have to worry about walk-bys unless you are woohooing.  As long as you are in a different room, others won't notice.  They do notice woohoo though, unless they are sleeping.  I have never had a hard time getting 20 simultaneous lovers.  I just never woohoo, and do all of the "love" interactions inside my sims own home with no one else there.

Thank you so much, Nec, for your response.  I figured that I just didn't understand something, but I am a curious cat and always want to know why something doesn't work.    Maxis should have given players the option to choose whether or not they wanted townies, and how many.  Especially since they are not actually required for anything, as far as I know.

When I create a custom 'hood this way, do I have to create all of the townies?  I usually don't like to have any townies in the base 'hood, and only about 10 to 15 each in UNI and Downtown, for shoppers and dormmates.  I don't figure it matters how many I create, but I just thought I'd ask.  If the problem stems soley from deleting characters, not how many you create then it shouldn't make a difference, right?
33  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Pleasantview, Strangetown & Veronaville Project on: 2006 May 14, 16:24:58
Thank you guys for the responses.  I'm gonna go ahead and use a utility to rename them.  I'll make a new neighborhood #2 just to be sure it works.

34  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Tutorial: Deleting, Creating, and Generating Townies in OFB *updated* on: 2006 May 14, 10:59:06
Can you just create a new neighborhood and add all of the sub 'hoods and then exit the game and delete the characters from the characters folder?  Or will that cause problems like using deleteallcharacters?  It seems to me that would save a lot of steps and if you are manualy deleting the townie files from the characters folder anyway, why can't you do it in just one go?  I'm probably missing something, but just thought I'd ask.
35  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Pleasantview, Strangetown & Veronaville Project on: 2006 May 14, 09:40:56
Ok, I am having a small problem.  Not with the 'hood I downloaded, but with my previous neighborhood #1.  I know I've seen a thread discussing this somewhere, but after a few searches, I can't find any info on it.  Since this new combined 'hood is now neighborhood #1,  I need to change my old 'hood #1 to #2.  I know that this requires renaming ALL of the files inside of it, but is that all?  If I change all filenames from N001_ to N002_ will it work correctly?  If not it is no big deal, I had just started the 'hood anyway and it doesn't have many sims in it, but if I could save it I would like to.
36  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Pleasantview, Strangetown & Veronaville Project on: 2006 May 14, 08:50:01
Thanks for the response SaraMK.  Take your time with them.  And thanks for doing this, by the way.  I'm so excited to to play this 'hood.  I haven't ever played with any of the pre-made sims yet, I've always just started fresh with a custom 'hood and my own townies & houses & such.  So I'm looking forward to this.
37  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: Pleasantview, Strangetown & Veronaville Project on: 2006 May 14, 05:25:37
OK, I might be missing something here, but are these cleaned up templates included with this download, or are they located somewhere else?  If they're somewhere else, how do I utilize them?  I would like to attach all of the Uni's and the shopping district, but don't want the extra characters.

Thank you so much for doing this.  It is definantly awesome!
38  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Import Strangetown and Veronaville into Pleasantville - Can it be done? on: 2006 May 14, 02:25:05
Yay!  I'm so excited.  Can't wait.
39  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Import Strangetown and Veronaville into Pleasantville - Can it be done? on: 2006 May 12, 02:45:20
I understand about that real life stuff.  I am really looking forward to this as well, but I will wait patiently.  Whenever you get around to it.  If I had to try and do this on my own, it would take me forever, if I could do it at all.  So take your time.
40  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: A question about moving sims, deleting all characters, and other weirdness on: 2006 May 10, 04:16:38
I would also love to have these templates, if it's not to much trouble.  I want to get ALL maxis-made characters into one neighborhood.  That means everyone from Pleasantview, Strangetown, Veronaville, the playable characters from all of the Uni's as well as the playable characters from downtown and bluewater village.  If I had to add all of the sub 'hoods the regular way, I would have, like 10 million characters files.
41  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Import Strangetown and Veronaville into Pleasantville - Can it be done? on: 2006 May 10, 03:54:31
This is incredibly awesome, SaraMK.  I will be watching the thread to see when and where this will be availabe for download.  As for the minor difference in lot placement, who cares?  I agree with the others that I probably would not have even noticed it.  No big deal.
42  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Import Strangetown and Veronaville into Pleasantville - Can it be done? on: 2006 May 06, 05:52:46
Even if they are completely devoid of sims, it would be a help, since other methods can get all of the sims in one neighborhood, but not the terrain, decorations, and houses.  So if nothing else, we could always use another method to get the sims in there.  Unless I'm completely missing something, which is likely.  But having it all done in one swoop would definantly be easier.
43  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Import Strangetown and Veronaville into Pleasantville - Can it be done? on: 2006 May 06, 02:03:35
I would absolutely love to have this as well.  I've been considering trying to combine the neighborhoods myself for awhile now, but have been a bit afraid of attempting it.  And I also would send a disk if needed for this.  Of course if it were possible (and free) to upload it somewhere that would probably be easier than burining a million CDs for people.  Perhaps the neighborhood folder could be split up for upload, and then the we could combine it into one folder after it has been downloaded?
44  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Fair Labor Price on: 2006 April 17, 00:36:19
I'm curious to know where most of you guys get your computer hardware and software.  I want to build my next computer myself and am curious where to go for the best prices and quality products.  I am pretty good with computers, have upgraded and maintained all of my previous computers myself and know I can build my own.  But I don't know where to get the stuff.  I have bought parts from newegg and tigerdirect in the past, as they seem to have lower prices than any chain store around.  Are there any other places I can look to find good prices?
45  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: It feels so quiet in here... on: 2006 April 09, 22:24:32
I don't speak up much, but I sure was missing my reading. lol

Same here.  Until I was directed to the laverwinkles thread from necteres site, I was in a panic!  But with both entries in my host file, everything seems completely normal.  I hope all of this clears up soon without too much more mess and aggrivation.
46  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: OFB *home* business ideas for the creatively challenged? on: 2006 March 24, 19:39:58
I don't know if this would work, but how about a home-based wedding chapel?  You could teleport in the bride and groom, marry them, give a party.  Not sure how you would charge, maybe the ticket seller.

I am planning a RL wedding right now, and everything has to be paid for up front.  So I figure for a wedding chapel in the sims, I will use the money order thingy to send money to the owner of the lot before the wedding.  Then my guests don't have to pay to attend, and I can set what ever price I feel is needed for the type of wedding - formal, semi-formal, casual, etc.  There can still be  small items for sale, a working pay-bar, and other money making things.
47  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Downtown Restaurants and OFB on: 2006 March 23, 03:59:11
I have noticed that restaurants in Downtown (unowned by any of my sims) barely function now.  The Sims obsessively eat - over and over again.  Maybe because of that new "hidden" shopping need and that is the only thing to buy.   I don't know but you can't even talk to them because they are either in line to be seated, already seated or standing up to go be seated again.

I have noticed the same thing and it is VERY aggrivating.  I had a popularity sim go to a bar on a community lot that I built.  It had pool tables, instruments, darts, and other standard bar things.  But no one did anything but eat.  The counter was full, the 4 small tables were taken - all in all about 15 sims just eating and eating.  I took my sim there to meet some people to fulfill wants, but she could not talk to anyone because they were all eating.

I don't think you have to worry Rascal.  I've been a member since July 2005 and I didn't make a single post until about a week ago.  But I am in at least once everyday reading the forums and downloading mods.  I think that counts as being active.
49  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The Entrepreneural Spirit - Building and selling businesses. on: 2006 March 14, 14:05:09
I really like the idea that you can buy and sell community lots and businesses.  I have a real estate office in my hood, and any sim that wants to own a community lot must buy from there.  I don't sell to townies, that does seem too much like cheating to me, since they can't own the lot and once you get your money it is back for sale again.  You could sell the same property to the same townie several times in one day.  But selling to other CAS sims that I play makes the game interesting.  I can't make the prices outrageous, because it is coming out of the pocket of another sim I play.  But my "realtors" make a pretty nice profit.  I sell empty lots and established businesses.  My sims can't just buy a lot from the computer for cheap.  They have to get it from the real estate office.

I dunno, maybe because looking like you're 12 is not something to aspire to.

He doesn't when its long.  The curls get weighted down.  But his hair would have definantly been better spent on me!

Heh, thanx! But maybe if you think about it, we (men) don't abuse our hair with hairdryers and gels and lacques and god knows what other "cosmetic" stuff you (women) put on your hair! Keep all that crap away!

You probably have a point there.  I never have used any products or heat on my hair because it is so fine and dry (I definantly don't have the oily problem), but most women I know abuse their hair so badly that it's no wonder it gets stringy.

Too bad about the animation.  I'll wait to hear whether or not it is really bad or just that website, then I'll try it.
