1  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Plots / Re: Lot Challenge, May 2013, FOUNDATION on: 2013 June 09, 10:12:57
Congratulations to our worthy winner witch! That spaceship was truly fab. Now, what will the June challenge be?
2  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Plots / Re: Lot Challenge, May 2013, FOUNDATION on: 2013 June 02, 06:16:00
Voting is open! Please remember that whoever wins sets up the next challenge, so all participants, start thinking!
3  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Plots / Re: Lot Challenge, May 2013, FOUNDATION on: 2013 June 01, 09:47:39
Here in Kofistan the date is now June 1 and voting is due to begin. However, I'm curious to see what Ellatrue has come up with. Should I bend the rules a bit and wait with adding the poll until she's had the chance to post her entry?

I'd also like to say that I'm really impressed with all the entries. I never finished my house (I blame an unexpected IRL kitchen refurbishment that somehow just happened in my home last week and has had me spending most of my free time on a ladder with a paintbrush in my hand rather than in front of the computer) but looking at the other entries that may be just as well. You have made better designs, anyway.
4  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Plots / Re: Lot Challenge, May 2013, FOUNDATION on: 2013 May 15, 14:08:52
Are there any extra arbitrary goals? Starter priced, number of floors / bedrooms? I'm starting this now and wondering if there will be some extra internet points on offer.  Grin

No, no extra internet points this round. Mostly it's because I suspect people will vote for the house they like the most, whether it meets the extra goals or not, but also because I don't want to hamper people's creativity too much. Although there's nothing wrong with a house that looks like a house (incidentally, I'm working on one of those myself), I'd love to see some more innovative creations as well. Just make it sit on top of that foundation, that's all I'm asking.
5  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Plots / Re: Lot Challenge, May 2013, FOUNDATION on: 2013 May 11, 20:05:26
is porch considered foundation?
Yes, if it's made with the foundation tool.

What you see in the picture is foundation, placed with the foundation tool. You mustn't add to or delete any part of that foundation, for any reason. If you want a porch you can either build it on top of the pre-made foundation or make creative use of the conditions listed under "you may." Does that make sense?
6  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Plots / Re: Lot Challenge, May 2013, FOUNDATION on: 2013 May 11, 06:58:18
the house could be an apartments building ?
Yes, I don't see why not.

We can use split level?
Yes, but you can't build walls that connect to the outside of the foundation, or substitute foundation walls with real walls.

The wall must be around all foundation
No. (That's what I tried to explain under "you may but you are not required to" but reading that sentence again I realise it isn't super clear.)

or we can use part of foundation like external place (terrace) ?
Yes.

If we build 2-3 floors, we can cover the internal space 6x6 with tiles floor(on second or 3rd floor)?
Yes, you may add unsupported floor tiles. That goes for anywhere.

I'm inspired by this shape. Can we rotate it? Does any one side have to be the front?

And, if we can rotate it (yes please), would we also be able to mirror it?

Rotating is okay , mirroring isn't.
8  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Plots / Lot Challenge, May 2013, FOUNDATION on: 2013 May 10, 15:20:25
Rules:

Lot sizes:
20x20, 25x20, 25x25, 30x20, 30x30, 35x25, 40x20 or 40x40
Length of challenge: Deadline is 12:01 am, June 1, 2013 in Kofistan time zone. Voting for the best house will take place for a week.
Winner: Will get a shiny graphic to put in their sig (thanks, jesslla!), and gets to start the next challenge.

Challenge: Build a house on a pre-made foundation. You may change the height of the foundation, add unsupported floor tiles, and/or build fences and half-walls that connect to the outside of the foundation. You may not add more foundation, delete any part of it, or build walls that connect to the outside of the foundation. You may but are not required to build walls along the full perimeter of the floor area atop the foundation.

Items that must be included: a bed, a toilet, a sink, a shower OR tub, a stove, a fridge, and a counter.

No custom content. Store stuff is OK to use.

No set colour schemes.

No budget limitations.

Focus on making your house INTERESTING and PLAYABLE.

NAME YOUR LOTS by using the "edit details" button. I will refer to them by name in the poll and any lots without an in-game street name will be disqualified. You may submit multiple entries. This contest is open to anyone, even 'dome residents.

You could either copy the foundation layout from the picture below OR download the original 20x20 lot. The first option gives you a choice of where to place the building on your lot, the latter is a bit easier.

First things first: a big BAAA to all my nine supporters for voting me the winner. It may not be the Pritzker but it comes with a shiny sig thing reward, so nearly as good. BAAA!

With that part over, let's move on to the next challenge. I hope you like foundations, because that's what we're having this month. Details will be entered into over in the new challenge thread, to be up as soon as I overcome my perennial lurker fear of starting such things. I will tell you though that I've opted for no set colour schemes, not so much out of fear of the kind of witchcraft that makes posts disappear (there's one thing perennial lurkers don't fear) as because I felt the foundation layout would be challenging enough in itself.

I do not have a shiny sig thing reward to offer, but I'm hoping jesslla will help me out there. Any chance of that?
10  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Plots / Re: Lot Challenge, April 2013, TINY lots. on: 2013 May 01, 16:11:04
You can choose up to four houses.

Poll question says three. Should I retract my four votes?

This challenge has turned out to be highly addictive, so I just couldn't resist making a third entry for it. Here comes 63 Lilac Street, a two bedroom house on a 10x15 lot, decorated in the Elegant, Urban Purple colour scheme. The price is 16,494 furnished or 13,400 unfurnished. It's wanded, and seeing how it was clearly stated from the beginning that wanding is permitted, I don't quite understand how that could be regarded as cheating. This seems to be a matter of debate, though. Anyway, here's the house:

I'm impressed. There are lots of really good ideas here to steal be inspired by and use in future projects. But for now, here's my second entry: 10 Navy Lane. It's a simple, two bedroom house on a 10x10 lot, with room for a family of four. Wanded and slightly worn, it fetches a price of 16,482 furnished or 12,812 unfurnished.

This sounds like fun! I have one question though: Is wanding permitted?
15  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The definitive EA Store Set & Guide? on: 2010 April 15, 15:03:45
We actually tried that on Riverview and all the store stuff, but it still woulnd't install.  It would do the whole "success done!" thing, but it would not actally be installed.

Just to be sure, did you:
1) tick the 'decrapify' box in the compressorizer?
2) delete the contents of the DCCache folder before attempting to install the decrapified files?
16  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: The definitive EA Store Set & Guide? on: 2010 April 15, 06:49:34
Saying "just install it properly" doesn't really help when I can't seem to figure out what "properly" is.

Properly: if decrapify.exe doesn't help, use jfade's Compressorizer.
17  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: WA made me update TS3 before installing, now game won't start! Help!! on: 2009 November 23, 07:45:00
I've been having the same problem, but after disabling two system services (Nvidia Display Driver Service and Volume Shadow Copy) I got the game to run. Why I do not know, but it works. For me.
18  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: White background after booting Sims 3 with WA on: 2009 November 19, 16:18:20
Can't help you, but I'll chip in to say the same thing's happening to me, but with new patch. In trying to get the game to work again I've tried normal uninstall, manual uninstall , devil-may-care registry cleansing, and physical violence - all to no avail. Damned be the day I decided to buy the game rather than just arr it like a sane person would. Two seconds of black screen isn't something I would usually pay for...
19  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: TS2 Store Asian Fusion Collection on: 2008 December 09, 13:56:00
Speaking of fixing things: I was hoping someone would make that window let in light, like windows tend to do, rather than make the room darker. I could even live with it not letting light in, as it's a screen window, but the increased darkness is just bloody insane.
20  TS2: Burnination / Peasantry / Re: TS2 Store Asian Fusion Collection on: 2008 December 03, 10:56:42
jaldeer - your link gives a HTTP 404 Not Found error message. Would you care to fix it, for the sake of us window & door junkies? (They may not be all that spectacular, but they're windows... and doors.)
21  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: No Modular Stairs Next to Wall on: 2008 November 26, 11:19:56
In my game it seems to be happening at random (meaning I'm incapable of seeing the underlying pattern). I first noticed it after installing M&G, and after fiddling with it for a bit realised that removing walls helped. Still, the problem doesn't arise every time I place modular stairs, and the behaviour isn't even consistent in a particular setting.

The other day I built a house, experienced this bug, removed walls, put in stairs, replaced walls, and moved on to picking wallpapers. After having come up with a colour scheme I decided I wanted to change the stairs, and being lazy I tried to do it without first removing any walls. It worked just fine. All I'd done in between was to apply wallpaper - no exiting lot, no opening cheat console, nothing. Very strange, indeed.
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Look out!!! M&G runs from its own disk, not latest EP. on: 2008 November 20, 20:17:44
Has anyone found a good arrrg copy yet? Almost sounds like I may have to pay for this last package of stuff.  Cry

Mininova lists a torrent sharing a copy in Chinese/Korean/English that installs fine (although if you have the latest version of Daemon you'll need the latest version of YASU rather than the one included in the torrent). Since it plays from the M&G exe, not AL, I haven't dared playtest it yet, though, for fear of SecuRom infestation.
